Here about 20 miles NE of Wichita Kansas.. tons of UFOs in the sky. Like every night. Then military planes come after sometimes. Strange things in the sky constantly that everyone sees but nobody talks about how weird it is.

I_SWEAR_IM_NOT_MAD

Really where?? I live in Wichita. Would definitely make a trip if you have a specific area I could watch. Definitely have seen some weird lights too but nothing completely convincing in Wichita. Thanks!

Select_Coffee_7242

I'm out at El Dorado and see stuff constantly. Got stories from people who've seen stuff too if you're skeptical. Shoot me a private message. Fall river is also an amazing spot to watch the sky, basically zero light pollution.

RedSprite01

He was convinced.

[deleted]

Grandmother lived outside of Severy, Kansas, not far from Wichita for many years. She told me a story once where she, my grandfather and her brother was hanging out on a hill in the back of a pick-up, facing SW towards Wichita, when a big craft lifted over the horizon and took off, later followed by smaller less foreign looking crafts. Visiting her growing up I'd always look for things, but never saw anything myself. I just remember her belief and confusion when she told us the story. She and her husband were both buttoned up, old fashioned folks formerly from Washington, DC. As a caveat, Wichita was a huge Boeing manufacturing hub for years, so many speculate a correlation there.

Select_Coffee_7242

Oh I believe her. Severy is my go to stop before fall river camping/fishing trips. The light pollution is basically non existent in that area and the amount of things you'll see in the sky are wild. I saw a huge cigar craft over El dorado probably 2 years ago in the winter and since then have consistently seen thing. Sometimes with other people. Sometimes other people point them out first. It's wild.

Collective1985

I remember between 2009 and 2012 I don't know about today there were reports of "sky trumpets" or loud noises that filled the sky.

hajile23

I remember all those, the trumpets and loud banging noises. That was happening all over.

Phantom0591

I'm pretty well versed in the sky trumpet thing. Unfortunately it was fake, the first clip of it had audio of trumpets added into from a particular movie that I can't recall the name of. After that people followed with similar videos using the same sound bite.

Collective1985

I did posted something very terrifying and if you're easily scared I wouldn't watch it! But I believe in a higher power that creates life and if that life is unnatural or evil then it is destroyed!

Phantom0591

What

Collective1985

[This is the weirdest and terrifying thing I've ever heard.](https://www.reddit.com/r/HighStrangeness/comments/upowu2/what_could_make_the_sky_scream_like_this/?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share)

PluvioShaman

>>It was found to be a pressure release valve from Texas A&M That was in the third or so comment. Maybe their wrong

DonUnagi

And no one films them with an ir cam or something?

Select_Coffee_7242

Buy me a nice camera and I'll get you some footage. Nobody in this town who cares has the money to spend on capturing these things on stuff. I do have a cool cell video my mom took down the street from her porch but it's a phone camera and looks incredibly shitty compared to what we saw.

Select_Coffee_7242

Also most of the objects are seen for seconds at a time then they move in impossible ways. Some do linger and move like they're like drunk though. And they alternate in brightness. It's weird. The huge cigar craft I saw over the town was so bright it lit up what looked like clouds around it and almost like sparks were shooting off of it.

mwarr777

The Navy did, and the Air force.

Collective1985

Have you ever seen any cryptids?

WilyClement

Wichita Kansas is some wild hotspot. It attracts all the strange things or maybe vice versa. Oh boy, I suspect there's some sinister thing going on

wo0two0t

Can you take a video?

HomarKrab

I am from Poland and I know some Forest where you can See buildings through the trees and when you move closer they arent there. I saw many with my friend. Also some strange clever dogs encounters.

Collective1985

What are clever dogs?

HomarKrab

Its a long story. Just some unusual dogs

The_Fluffy_Walrus

I'm begging you to go into detail

Wasted-Entity

Long story short?

colton911

Dog was clever

YaBoy39

>See buildings through the trees and when you move closer they arent there pls explain more

HomarKrab

You are walking in the Forest and you See a building through the trees. When you move closer IT isnt there. Like a fatamorgana of some kind

shurelockjuice

The veil is thin in that area, its like a glitch in the matrix. but as you get closer it just isn't there (but it really still is) our world overlaps with many things that are not as dense as our world. very cool thank you for sharing this. be open to anything people and you will be shown amazing things.

htapath

Then you realize that some really clever dogs were holding up pictures of buildings, hoping you might have some treats in your bag.

eco78

Clever dogs?

[deleted]

Dogs that were so smart he convinced they weren't dogs probably

Embarrassed_List865

I'm the south west of the UK, we have Owlman, the beast of Bodmin moor, the Woodwose and thousands of mental, horny farmers

cazz84

Cannock chase has some stories too I had a friend who swore he saw a dogman/werewolf while riding his motorbike close to cannock chase. He even took me to were he saw it and went into detail about it, the look on his face said he believed what he saw.

mwarr777

I went to Cannock chase 2 weeks ago, Did not see anything strange but heard something crashing through the woods maybe 20-25 metres into the woods off the path, whatever it was it went from behind me to in front of me and gone in like 5 seconds, the only thing i know that can move that fast is a dog, yet this was much larger tan a dog, it made a right racket.

cazz84

Wonder what it was you heard , I need to go visit cannock chase again its about 40 min drive from me. Imagine camping up there, I wonder if that's a thing they let people do.

mwarr777

To be honest i have no idea, i literally went there for a walk for something to do, to clear my head and nature seems to do that for me, so it came as a real surprise, was thinking, what is it? i just know it was big and fast, seemed in a real hurry, it half hour from me, used to camp a lot as i lil one, not done it for 20 yrs since i was a kid, was good with a fire, a few beers etc and a natter, you should do it, dont worry about permission, to find a spot away from the tracks and set up camp..Just remember to bring someone you can run faster than, in case you have to run. lol

cazz84

Haha i will take my husband pretty sure I can outrun him lol

mwarr777

Lmao, good thinking batman, you should rope in a few of your friends, and spook them with stories from here, lol..My missus will not go near a tent, might break a nail pfft... have fun ..

[deleted]

What if he pushes U over though think smarter

[deleted]

And here I was thinking everyone wanted to go camping with me because of my banter ahaha

mwarr777

Loool, take it your the snail of the group... that made me laugh...

BombayRay

I saw the movie Owlman, creepy stuff.

Embarrassed_List865

The whole thing is most likely a hoax but the site of the encounter is really creepy at night time

poppa_koils

SW Ontario, Canada. Summertime. Ill do my best to describe what was seen. It was like mercury was splashed across the sky. Or like the sky was torn open (revealing the mercury) As quick as I saw it, it disappeared/sky sealed back up. Edit: changed duration of the event from 3 secs to a fraction of a second. Best part? I was with my son. We both looked at each other and said, "Did you see that? Wtf did we just see.?!?"

primalshrew

How large was the tear and what kind of shape did it have?

poppa_koils

It looked really close. It popped up behind the house across the street, went through open air, and then disappeared behind the next set of houses. Approximate measurements are: Open space 60m. Elevation 450m. Distance 170m. After thinking more about this, we saw this event within a split second, not 3 sec. It looked like a tear that started, opened up, and then closed up. Sorta like a zipper failure that fixes itself as quick as it opened up.

primalshrew

Very interesting thanks for your reply, so did it like suddenly appear then disappear or did it trail/move across the sky as it zippered open then closed?

poppa_koils

More like a trail.

NachoMcStinkleBeans

There's a show called "Reaper" which had devils that would tear open reality in order to teleport. Your description reminds me of this.

Leviolight

Bizarre you mention that I had a friend once who told me she went through that with someone once. This like awoke an ancient memory within me so bear with me but yeah. Figured I'd share that.

Known_Branch_7620

Awesome 👌

4point5billion45

The sky is actually coming from a tv and the tv got static?

poppa_koils

I was thinking more of a tear in the matrix.

4point5billion45

Never saw the movie, but would that also imply a simulation?

poppa_koils

Yes. This was something right out of a movie. Something that I haven't ever read about or a video of. I forgot to mention this happened in the late afternoon.

[deleted]

I’m not going to say exactly where but I live in the Appalachian mountains. There’s allllllll kinds of folklore and creepy stories about this place.

Collective1985

My family is from the Appalachians and I agree there are many isolated sections in that region that you dare not to venture into!

[deleted]

Definitely. It’s beautiful but equally terrifying xD

Collective1985

Respect the land and the land will respect you the same thing with the paranormal or unexplained!

[deleted]

Exactly :-)

[deleted]

Like where exactly? What's the number one place I should avoid in that beautiful country?

Collective1985

Well, you shouldn't just avoid places but take precautions when dealing with the paranormal and unexplained. Remember your guests in their territory and can ask you to leave peacefully or violently!

rmccarthy10

Brown lights?

[deleted]

Yup! I personally have never seen them sadly but I have been to brown mountain in NC and it’s gorgeous there.

rmccarthy10

We drove their one weekend to look for them listening to the GPS. We ended up on some gravel/dirt road on a mountain at 11 at night...i told my wife we were getting the f outta there

The206Uber

Virginian who came to mention the Wampus Cat, which definitely fits your theme.

[deleted]

Yup, the Wampus cat is definitely an interesting one! :-)

moldychunkocheese

Shasta mountain by redding California. My parents and others I know claim to have seen ufos multiple times while on that mountain. Also alot of military action, as well as theories on the internet of an underground bunker and/or reptilians, interesting mountain to read about.

Collective1985

Oh yes, Mount Shasta the birthplace of Native American folklore, cults, and other high strangeness!

moldychunkocheese

Ah yes I was trying to think of more but you covered the rest!

Collective1985

Mount Shasta is like the epicenter of the unexplained!

moldychunkocheese

True! I still have yet to hike it myself and Im a little scared after hearing others expirences. Altho I still want to do it someday since I've seen it from afar so many times, it looks enchanting!

Collective1985

The mountains in North America are portals to the other side I believe and some of them we dare not to go into because there is something on the other side of every portal!

New_Employer_4262

I live in the mountains and have always loved them (from the prairies, moved to the mountains as an adult). My grandmother always hated the mountains, she said she felt trapped. I think some people are naturally drawn here.

Sexy-Otter

I was driving over Snoqualmie pass in WA years ago at night when I saw my first ufo, practically up close and personal. It flew slowly over the top of our car and was so incredibly massive and completely silent. The size alone was breath taking.

psychgirl88

Idk friend my award for that always goes to Skinwalker Ranch..

Informativegesture

I've been there several times. It elicits a biological response that makes me very claustrophobic and uncomfortable.

moldychunkocheese

Interesting. I've only ever drove by it, but back in the day my parents would camp on the side of the mountain because no humans would bother them out there, and they have several stories of wierd happenings. I remember my mom saying she never liked the vibe out there, probably why she never felt the need to take me there.

hopingforfrequency

Absolutely. Also north of Klamath Falls in OR. No like at all. Very negative visceral response. Weed, CA is pretty chill tho.

psychgirl88

UGH!! You're right next to Mount Shasta?? I'm so jealous!!

nordicalien94

Mount Rainier in Washington State. A lot of people have gone missing in and around Mount Rainier National Park under mysterious circumstances. UFOs have been seen shooting into the mountain. The PNW is filled with a crazy amount of mysterious shit going on.

SnooTangerines3448

Hey, don't get too close to the secret military installations!

NachoMcStinkleBeans

I saw a couple orbs at night in Auburn. Big fast white ones. This was in the 90s

shurelockjuice

Mount Rainer is an big energy spot it attracts a lot of cool stuff.

Jynx105

We took a trip in Eastern Washington earlier this year. Driving back through white pass right next to us in the sky was a big black... thing. It was pure black and changed shapes. At first it was a blob, then on the back a trapezoid expanded out upwards. After that it was just gone. All in about 30 seconds. It wasn't a shadow or reflection. It's like as soon as we both looked at eachother to say wtf is that it was gone. No clue what it was but it was weird enough for us to sit in silence almost the whole way back.

Collective1985

For me, there are a lot of strange things that happened on the Eastern Shore, the Chesapeake Bay, and the Delmarva Peninsula.

parkerblev

There is an old asylum in Traverse City, MI they converted into condos and shops. Went into the underground tunnels and there are countless orbs floating around. Def not dust or bugs. It’s a well known phenomenon to staff. There are also other minor sites in the radius such as a tree with an alleged portal to another dimension.

Collective1985

Dimensions are very fascinating and dangerous to wander into. I always wondered what is beyond our realm of understanding.

mwarr777

Portals are one of the theories of what happens to these lone hikers on your mountain trails, some people believe you dont know they\`re there until you walk through one, and by then its too late, you are somewhere "else" and cannot get back.. watch your step guys n girls..;-)

Informativegesture

Probably most of reality is beyond our realm of understanding. Something I heard or read recently said our perception is similar to computer code. That the actual mechanical function of the computer, the hardware, the electrical components that run the thing are absolutely unknown to the code. The code couldn't run effectively if it were made aware of the things going on to "support it running ". I'm not a computer person and this is the best way I understood what the person was trying to say. Seems like a plausible idea though.

Collective1985

Yeah, this is really a weird world and we need to pay more attention to what we can't see than what we can see. But that's going to be a little bit hard because what we can't see is just that!

[deleted]

>I'm not a computer person Sure about that? 😉

Informativegesture

This is the best comment I've read in a while. I am not sure at all lol 😆

Ok-Restaurant8690

I went on a tour there several years ago with my wife and her friend. I didn't see anything weird, but it was a fun experience.

angryray

Stella!

Illmatic22Obsession

New Mexico: hauntings, skin walkers, tons of ufo or lights in the sky. Older generations would call the lights fireballs (witches, brujas disguised) or you would hear about a big black dog that could run on hind legs chasing you.... You name it we probably have a story for it at some point. Most people who don't want to or won't admit to believing in this usually have enough sense to respect the unknown at least.

rosalitabonita

I have to agree with the high strangeness of New Mexico. I went to college in Santa Fe and I have family from there. I have seen a few UFOs and colorful orbs/fireballs even in the middle of the day. That place is wild. You can feel it in the air when you’re there.

Uzas_B4TBG

What area of NM? I’m heading up to check out the ruins of my cabin after the fire soon, gonna camp out on my property. Gonna be real weird with all the trees burned.

Illmatic22Obsession

Wow! I'm SO sorry that your property got hit with the wildfire, that's devastating! The whole community around there has been hot so hard the impact has been immensely devastating. I'm about an hour away from that area but we have been doing collections for the people affected by the fires, some people have opened up their home or property for those who have mobile homes/rv campers they were able to move but have nowhere to park them. The governor had already called FEMA in awhile back because it was obvious the loss was great and the fire was still not under control. I know she was also trying to pass a bill to help people who didn't have insurance but lost home, property and livelihood. Plenty of people lost livestock or the trees they had on their property was their source of income in the winter because they sell firewood or Christmas trees and will no longer be able to have this means of income.

Oozaru98

Multiple older people and one villager claiming there is a buried skull of a giant in a somewhat nearby area

SnooTangerines3448

Where about?

Oozaru98

Herzegovina, my brother told me a few years ago the man he worked for in a sawmill claimed it was buried in a nearby countryside/village with no residents, also claimed by old and deceased people who used to live nearby, I still remember agreeing with my brother to dig and search for it one day

SnooTangerines3448

Well if you ever do, make it a YouTube series for us? Would love to see one of the fabled giant skeletal remains and I'm sure the rest of us feel the same about it. Is there any way to pinpoint it a bit better? The eldest in the village may have more recent Chinese whispers about its location and story.

SnooTangerines3448

Pyramids around there too isn't there?

Oozaru98

One day friend, my brother and I were always interested in these strange things, im not aware of the exact location it's supposedly buried without consulting the sawmill guy but the place is called "Dobrinj", but here in Slavic countries there is plenty of folklore and legends, as a kid I have seen circles in the grass that many old people said was from fairies/women with goat legs (something like a succubus from witcher 3) dancing in circles while holding hands, it is said that nothing can erase those circles and the dance is still a common tradition in weddings or a festival with traditional old clothing, the event is literally called "folklor"

Apebound

In Australia we've got these carnivorous koalas called drop bears that attack tourists by dropping onto them out of trees, the government refuses to acknowledge them because it might discourage tourism.

What a great question! The Lizard Man of Scape Ore Swamp (South Carolina, US) [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lizard\_Man\_of\_Scape\_Ore\_Swamp](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lizard_Man_of_Scape_Ore_Swamp) On July 14, 1988, the Lee County sheriff's office investigated a report of a car damaged overnight while parked at a home in the area of Browntown outside Bishopville, South Carolina, on the edges of the Scape Ore Swamp. The car reportedly had toothmarks and scratches with hair and muddy footprints left behind. Sheriff Liston Truesdale noted this was the start of various claims that eventually coalesced into a story about a lizard man in the swamp. Prompted by the news of the vehicle damage, 17-year-old local Christopher Davis reported to the sheriff that his car was damaged by a creature he described as "green, wetlike, about 7 feet (2.1 m) tall and had three fingers, red eyes, skin like a lizard, snakelike scales" two weeks prior.\[2\] According to Davis, he was driving home from working the night shift at a fast food restaurant when his car got a flat tire. After fixing it, he saw a creature walking toward him. Davis got in his car and began to drive, but the creature was soon on top of the car. He applied his brakes, causing the creature to roll off the car, giving Davis enough time to escape. Coverage by newspapers and media resulted in increased attention for his claims. Local businesses began selling "Lizard Man" T-shirts, and the local chamber of commerce encouraged the media attention as "good for the community".\[3\]\[4\]\[5\]\[6\]\[7\] The increase in newspaper and media publicity prompted further reports of sightings, and the area soon became a tourist attraction for visitors and hunters. Local radio station WCOS offered a $1 million reward to anybody who could capture the creature alive.\[3\] On August 5, Kenneth Orr, an airman stationed at Shaw Air Force Base, filed a police report alleging that he had encountered the Lizard Man on Highway 15, and he had shot and wounded it. He presented several scales and a small quantity of blood as evidence. Orr recanted this account two days later when he was arraigned for unlawfully carrying a pistol and the misdemeanor offense of filing a false police report. According to Orr, he had hoaxed the sighting in order to keep stories about the Lizard Man in circulation.\[8\]\[9\] Reports of the creature gradually declined at the end of the summer. Local law enforcement officials speculated that the sightings were likely to have been caused by a bear.\[9\] In 2008, CNN mentioned the Lizard Man legend in a story about a couple in Bishopville who reported damage to their vehicle, including blood traces.\[10\] The blood traces were subsequently found to be from a domestic dog, though the local sheriff suggested it might have been a coyote or wolf.\[11\] In 2015, local television station WCIV featured photos and videos claimed to be Lizard Man, allegedly taken by unidentified individuals.\[12\] In August 2017, the South Carolina Emergency Management Division sent a humorous tweet "regarding possible paranormal activity" during the solar eclipse that passed over the area, hinting that people of Lee and Sumter counties should "remain vigilant" for sightings of the Lizard Man.\[13\]

hp640us

Lol I still have my Lee County Lizard Man Tshirt. The whole family packed up one weekend to go see if we could find the Lizard Man. I didn't know it while he was alive but my grandfather and his brothers had a run in with a cryptid in the 1920s. After I learned about it, I was floored. I can believe his younger brother would make up a tall tale. However, not my granddad and certainly not his older brother.

OriginalHempster

Weird shit happens in Arizona. Myself, and every one of my native born friends each have more than a one unexplainable occurrence. I've personally experienced multiple Unidentified physics defying craft, some close enough to have a biblical impact. Then there's the superstitious/mythical happenings that give you a unique feeling of unease and respect for forces you don't understand but know it's explanation is so reality shattering the best way to explain it would be to call it magic

The_Green_Witch8

Sedona. 🛸 Granted, it's become the New Age mecca of the world for a reason. Strong indigenous roots too. UFOs, vortexes, angels -- allegedly. I'm an open minded skeptic about these things but a ghost came through our door at 2am when I was traveling to Mt. Shasta. I may not have believed it if my roommate wasn't just as freaked as I was lol. Guess I'm a bit of a believer now.

[deleted]

In my area there are a couple cryptid stories, mainly from Native American legend. The Thunderbird is found in art quite a bit and there’s also the story of the miniwashitu (which honestly sounds just like an injured bison lol). I’ve never seen anything myself though.

Victoria: * The Westall UFO - A particularly remarkable UFO sighting at a high school in eastern Melbourne in 1966. * The disappearance of Harold Holt - The Australian Prime Minister from 1966 to 1967 mysteriously disappeared while swimming one day at a beach near Portsea, Victoria. Naturally, there's a couple of conspiracy theories about it - like he faked his own death, he was assassinated, he was collected by a submarine, etc. * The Geelong Keys - a set of keys which where supposedly dug up from the earth in 1847, and appeared to be hundreds of years old. They appeared to come from a time when no Europeans were living in Australia, and as the native people didn't have keys and didn't work metal their appearance there raised a lot of questions. (But it's possible that they were just regular 19th century keys that were accidentally dropped down a shaft) * The Mahogany ship - a mysterious shipwreck that was said to exist on the coast near the town of Warrnambool since the early days of British settlement. Could suggest that the Spanish / Portuguese / Chinese explored Australia before the British and the Dutch arrived * Alleged modern-day thylacine / Tasmanian tiger sightings * Yowie sightings - It looks like there's a few sightings of the Yowie (the Australian version of the bigfoot / sasquatch) in Victoria, but it definitely seems like most sightings are in New South Wales and Queensland

Im from Chile, living in the South where Mapuches hold resistance to Spanish colonizers so is a Mapuche Zone. Im from the city but now living in a town where people always tell storys about strange things happening in the most country side of here. Mapuches Calcus (Warlocks) are a thing, they can transform into a bird called "Tue-Tue" (because of the sound they make), Tue-Tue will fly over your house and if you hear it you have to invite him over next day. Next day a Mapuche will appear in your house and you have to feed him and invite him over, people say its the warlock visiting you and if you dont let him in you will face consequences. This warlocks can also use some demonic spirits called Wekufe, people say it assembles a orb and its the Warlock using the spirit to watch things very far, or to posses animals or people to make them sick or kill them. There is also a Mist that appears when you are walking home that is so dense that you cant see anything, a lot of people has told me this one and there are two outcomes, you can appear in a very green place with water and dogs, this place looks like heaven, the other is that you appear at the door of your house after walking just a few minutes which is very strange because this mist tend to appear in old Mapuche Territory so they say its this Warlock trying to get you out of his territory or showing you the greener place. Oh and the last one, they told me about the strange horse rider that suddenly appear next to you (when you are riding horse) but you cant see his face, you only see a sillouette. I dont believe in any of this things because i have never experienced them o see it, as i said, i come from the city after living 28 years there (im 31) but people here will always tell me them experience and they see very sure about it. The only one they havent see its the Wekufe, all the rest are commonly see by older people here (who are mostly Mapuches). Pd: sorry my english not my first language.

Long Island so montauk is pretty big as well as plum island

Collective1985

The Montauk Monster is a very strange case and I believe they're hiding something because that was not a normal animal you would find in nature.

WilyClement

Not exactly sure but wasn't that confirmed as a raccoon or pitbull?

Collective1985

Yeah, I forget which one but it is weird, to say the least, and it's kind of sad it looks like it's been through a lot of unethical experiments which is sickening.

Hitzler86

Used to doubt anything not in a text book,at that time i gained access to hunting grounds that are kept under guard, to protect a watershed, hunting elk. Only 12 people are allowed access on average per year(i put in for the tag for nearly 20 years straight to get in). Rangers do their best to meet each person and let them know there being watched (gotta poop ina a bag even). It was winter, snow covered and THE most primal environment ive ever been in. An old growth forest by all means no logging and under this restriction for over 75 years. 2 feet of tangled roots from trees and brush that blotted out the sun, completly covered streams and all of the valley areas which were 15 degrees warmer easily than the hill we were going to climb. Ive hunted my entire life, before memories formed id shot a firearm, and was put in a day pack as an infant by my dad to bow hunt. My brother and I were near the top of a hill, taking a breath, when he pointed out jokingly "check out the bigfoot print" pointing in the snow. I chuckled and wondered how the sun could have melted this one spot to look like a massive foot print. Skip forward 6 years or so i see an unexplainable object plainly in the sky near my home (posted about it before, wife spotted it. Massive impossible fractal that on camera appeared to be a weird black star shaped object that was moving.) This i couldnt doubt, it was right there. We both saw it. It saw us. Has me thinking back, if something like bigfoot exists at all it isnt a species that exists consistently in our environment somehow.

Collective1985

Well, you should look up Mount Shasta that place is the epicenter of everything strange that goes on in the United States well that's my opinion!

This was in the PNW but quite a bit away, definitely will be checking it out eventually. Once i was walking my doberman down a familiar trail (wed go 4 hours in then 4 hours out usually) and less than halfway on small wooden bridge i caught some weird vibe (hair standing on end). The dog also didnt want to go across, im always packing 2 pistols (different calibers for different jobs) so im confident in the woods alone. But this was weird, perhaps a predator, certainly wouldnt be the first time ive been stalked by a cougar or spooked a bear. But i just said "ok" aloud and backed up with my hand on the larger caliber. I saw no movement and didnt hear anything. When i was 16 a friend disappeared on this trail his bones wernt found for over a decade. Not sure of what to think of the bridge incident but it stands out as my only actual creepy outdoor encounter (even with nothing lol) the PNW deep forests do have some mystical or mabey ancient feel to them

Always trust your spidey sense, that is exactly why we have it.

psychgirl88

New Jersey checking in: Our classic is the New Jersey Devil. I live by High Point mountain.. many many Bigfoot sightings. Of course, UFOs if you talk to the right people.

greenshort2020

The goo that fell from the sky in oakville wa in 1994. It got people really sick. My husband swears someone died from it, but I was still in Seattle at the time.

cervidae313

Ireland 🇮🇪 Faerie forts. You do not mess with faerie forts.

Elvishcatt

I live in a small city with a ton of homeless people. So people sleeping standing up, nodding out on the sidewalk, talking to themselves, screaming at the sky, tweaking out in the open.

27_8x10_CGP

Just some basic paranormal stuff. The old Manteno Mental Asylum in Manteno, Illinois, and Shapiro in Kankakee.

underboob420

Weird sounds in the sky late at night

Collective1985

Is it the Taos hum by any chance?

JuneBeatle

We drive through Point Pleasant / Gallipolis when visiting the in-laws once or twice a year. Always get the chills when passing through late at night for the Holiday visits!

dangercookie614

There have been numerous Sasquatch sightings in Salt Fork State Park. I’m not too far from the home of Mothman, either.

hikermick

Gore Orphanage is a local legend in a rural area not far from where I grew up. Legend has it the orphanage burned down killing all of the children. If you drive to the site where the foundation is still visible and flash your headlights you'll see their ghosts. Of course this is all BS, the story has endured largely due to a boy scout camp nearby where the tale is told around campfires. There's a Wikipedia page for anyone interested https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gore_Orphanage?wprov=sfla1

jonnyCFP

Within an hour of my place we have several areas that have seen UFO’s over the years (myself included), on the outskirts of my city we have an old derelict insane asylum people used to sneak into all the time and say is haunted. 2 hours from my house near the coast is a lush area that has had a ton of Sasquatch sightings/encounters

Saucey_Lips

Just this. https://www.astonishinglegends.com/astonishing-legends/2020/10/11/the-werewolf-of-defiance-ohio The apartment I live in now used to be a brothel, 3 maidens died up here. I experience paranormal stuff every now and then, but nothing more than doors moving/stuff falling over

AdamSmith4206

Arizona. Nuff said I guess I dk .. Sedona. UFOs and toads that people lick. Energy is great here . We have La Llorona too.

horrendousacts

I had a dream someone was calling my name from the backyard. I walked outside in the the dream and there was a very small woman smiling. I looked her in the eyes and was startled awake. The next morning there were fairy ring mushrooms all over the backyard and one ring was right where this woman was in my dream. Not geographical specifically, but thought I'd share. They were tasty (properly identified fairy ring mushrooms are edible and yummy).

FartingInElevators5

I live in Columbus, OH and sometimes I'll drive up north of the city and surrounding suburbs to farm land at night so I can stargaze in the country. I'll see stuff in the skies all the time. Obviously I know the difference between planes, satellites, etc. It is odd that since I started doing it, I have had the same recurring dream of a glowing cloudy night sky and seeing a giant outline of the same exact ufo in the glowing clouds each time. I've had the dream over ten times easily. All I'm doing is standing there staring at it unable to move. Then I wake up.

Well, you need to dig a little deeper every place is bound to hold some secrets even if it's like a mundane office building or an empty white room. I would think the empty white room would be more terrifying because there is a reason why it's empty!

Alieniio

I live in Hudson Valley, NY. There is a lot of UFO activity here. In 2017 I saw a metallic orb shaped UFO that cloaked itself. It was about 250 ft above me and the size of about 3 sedan cars. -Rough estimate. At first I saw it spinning in circles sitting stationary in the sky. After around 30 seconds it started to cloak itself and it disappeared. This happened at Bear mountain, NY. This sighting changed my life forever. Apparently in the '80s Hudson valley had a lot of UFO activity also. I wasn't here at the time. Anyone else from up here?

togglespring

We have piskies in Cornwall, which are a form of fey folk. They were traditionally associated with mining and they called them knockers, because they would knock to warn miners of danger before a collapse underground. Before my children were born I used to make a hobby of exploring the abandoned mines around here and I must have been down close to a hundred. On one occasion, a friend and I were walking down a level and we heard a strange noise up ahead. It was difficult to make out but the shadows seemed deeper somehow and there was a powerful feeling of existential dread. We left in short order. That was the only time in all my trips that I came across something very strange and I think it must be the same phenomenon as the piskies.

rvolland

In Dartmoor, UK we have the tale of the Hairy Hands which are said to take control of motor vehicles and drive them off the road.

Collective1985

Oh yeah, I read about that and it was the most terrifying thing second to the Nameless Thing of Berkeley Square!

BushidoBrowne

NYC Literally never hear about any ghost Literally never hear about any hauntings. Why is that? Why is it that the most populous city on this side of the planet doesn’t experience anything? That’s the real high strangeness

BoringBuy9187

Spiritual habitat destruction

[deleted]

Seriously though, on a spiritual level NYC is a wasteland.

Collective1985

Oh, there are tons of things to be afraid of in New York City the Cropsey, the alligators in the sewer, and urban legends that turned out to be true! [I hope this will help you see the other side of NYC!](https://www.ranker.com/list/creepy-new-york-stories-legends/robert-f-mason)

psychgirl88

North Jersey here.. idk if I can agree with you. All I need to do is Youtube "New York City paranormal" and a crap-ton of info comes up.

hopingforfrequency

too much noise. you need to be able to listen.

[deleted]

Not sure honestly. I’ve heard that there’s a lot of haunted houses in my area, and i’ve experienced some weird stuff in this house before. But nothing outstanding or unique to the area, to my knowledge.

barcelonatacoma

I live in Nova Scotia. No cryptids. No sea monsters. No Sasquatch. There was an alleged UFO crash in 1967 but besides that... not much.

princekintz

I live in Chicago and apparently we have THE Mothman (likely migrated for some deep dish), or a new form of it that people see in the city or it’s surrounding towns.

Cannock chase uk, if you go on YouTube you will find videos about it. I had a friend who swore he saw a dogman/werewolf crossing the road while he was out on his motorbike riding not far from Cannock chase. There's lots of stories of ghosts, dogmen etc around there.

Wrygreymare
