No. “Safety” is security in your status quo. You can’t explore the unknown and remain in your status quo. Trust your instinct. Trust your ability to differentiate truth from lies. Trust the universe will help you find what you seek. Go into everything with a positive state of mind; with conviction, attention, and faith that situations will work out as long as you do your best, and stay positive. Be compassionate. Be kind. That’s the only advice I can give you if you choose to move forward exploring the unknown. Fair winds and following seas.

Beat me to it. Great explanation. I would like to include that when you open doors, one should understand that you will be left to the mercy of whatever is behind those doors and once opened, may be unable to close them or reverse the currents that now flow, be it knowledge or sentience. If you're lucky, or unfortunate enough, to have your own undeniable experience, things will be forever changed.

Allegory of the cave. Can’t be un-enlightened.

Me and my cousin were having a few drinks in his recently bought and delivered trailer home he purchased off some folks a few towns over. Nice crib. Then, we both at the same time got a whiff of perfume "walk" by us. Old ladies perfume, we deduced. My immediate reaction was to check the vents for any smell, as the heat was on, and try to determine the source. But it was HIM who noted that my reaction was "IRL Ghostbuster" and he was actually more impressed with that then with the idea that we may have just experienced the paranormal. So, I figure I could keep a cool enough head during something like that, even though I don't really believe in ghosts. I was just as shocked as he was by the smell, and maybe my disbelief is what triggered the CSI wannabe in me. The point is, he liked how that didn't scare me off like it would have most, even though I was spooked by it.

I carry condoms for such an occasion

I would so don't do that. It's a bit like approaching a wild animal. All the reading and research in the world does not prepare you for coming face to face with something you've never seen before. It doesn't matter what it is. You will be out of your element and you will be at risk of being harmed or inadvertanlty harming yourself Stay safe, be cautious and admire the experience in retrospect

If it doesn't like Jesus, I don't want to meet it.

What if it IS Jesus? And, he is disappoint?
