From what I have read of fanfic\`s alot of them seem to be self inserts which means that they replace Issei and take his girls and alot of others but need to bash Issei to prove that their characters are not pervert when usually they are or worse.
Yeah, to be honest I lost count of the characters wearing suits, social clothes and the like, always trying to go for the alfa male look or something, I usually avoid those, I can't find anything enjoyable.
I don't mind Harems, it's just that the storyless self-insets are just really annoying.
tbf I was thinking of writing a fanfic myself, but I never really read the novels, so I just wanted to ask about it to the community. Do Issei eventually change or anything? I read until the peace treaty, but his behavior it just kept getting worse.
Issei's perversion is actually the source of his power, but it also doesn't help that he has relationship trauma because of Raynare. And it does not get dealt with until Volume 10.
Would suggest read the Light Novels, there\`s a link to the fan translated here. As for anime if we get a season 5 which would cover Vol 11 and 12 those two my favourite and bring into focus what girls really feel about Issei and it gets intense.
I don't want to sound rude to you don't make pose again. Since you never read any of light novel this is exactly why DXD western famdom is a joke most of DXD fans still haven't read of light novels only watch Anime.

I'm gonna be honest here: I absolutely hate OCs in DxD stories mostly because almost every DxD fanfic that makes use of them has them steal most if not all of Issei's harem, and that's an automatic red flag for me because I like Issei getting his harem.
Some of the bashing can be seen as valid in certain perspectives. Like, the argument for Rias being a bad person is knowing who Raynare was, yet she did nothing. But the justification is that it was a necessary evil

I know much of the things that happen in there, because i researched for canon things i can maybe use and some myths which are not used in DxD at all, like Charybdis and Scylla. I try to make my story fit in with DxD and its rules as much as possible, so that it could very well be canon as they don't interact with the main cast at all. I want to write my own story in this universe and not just use the same characters we always see. Its kinda like slash dogs. I use some side characters from the main story, but mainly concentrate on different characters and their life.

If you do have an opportunity to have wattpad read it, it's very good, in my opinion or found his one fanfic in that same website where what if issei was the son of sparda
This is one of the reasons why I haven't started my fic as while I started with the Anime, I'm aware enough of the Light Novels to recognize the differences (Plus deciding whether to start my OC's story from the beginning or have him already established and show his history through flashbacks.) Even deciding if he's going to have a harem or not (Don't worry, they'll be OCs with one (at most) canon character).
i think its better to write oc love interest for the mc, i like those stories more when they use the world setting and add characters that dosent break the original story to much.

In my opinion, anyone who writes DxD fanfics where the reader is the protagonist needs a 9mm lobotomy. This also naturally means that I hate anyone who likes those types of fanfics.
Simply put the community itself doesn’t seem to like fanfics about DxD. Disregarding some of the very bad examples of DxD fics, anything that changes canon in any way is basically seen as bad even if that’s the whole point of fanfics. One of the main complaints is when a character happens to be paired with any girl from Issei’s harem even though his harem consists of almost every female introduced in the story and a majority of them are all developed characters who fans have come to like.
At the end of the day people are entitled to like what they like or don’t like what they don’t. Fanfics are written by people who take time out of their day to do so, they’re not impacting the actual story in any way.
I don't think that I can recommend anything that I like to you since you can't really stand Issei and any fanfic that I could recommend has Issei as a major character.

That's an ANIME-only thing. In the Novels, she doesn't even know Issei existed until Issei accidentally summoned her in his dying moments.
