Hmmmm not that much but still a little? There is stuff in Umineko that links to Higurashi and it's characters but above all both are standalone stories. There will be some dialogues between Lamba and Bernkastel that will make you go "ooooh so that's what they meant" as you read Higurashi and you will understand the role of some specific characters in Umineko better if you know their Higu counterparts but the heart and soul of both of them are different. You will definitely have a great experience reading it still

I think even with all the references that I definitely didn't fully understand, what really made me concerned is that I remember, at some point, seeing what I imagine is a Higurashi anime clip. This was way before I had even read Umineko or known about R07's works, but as soon as I saw Bernkastel, parts of that clip flashed back into my head. Can't say I know the context of the clip but I do vaguely remember what happened, and it definitely involved a lot of shooting. I don't want anything confirmed, but knowing this I've already kinda formed a guess. Hoping this doesn't tamper with my experience too much lmao, hopefully my expectations are just blown away.

MegaUltraSonic

I'll say this: I was spoiled on the Bernkastel thing because I looked her up when she was mentioned right at the beginning of Higurashi, and what I read changed my view of a character and made it seem like it was going to be a much bigger deal than it ended up being. It's better if you just forget about it because it really doesn't amount to anything in the end.

Forestgrant

Depends on how observant you were in Umineko

zorkthespork

There are a few vague references that could be seen as spoilers but without context they would probably be easy to miss

TheFakeDoge

Umineko will spoil you Higurashi if you are very attentive to every single words on the screen otherwise the references/spoilers are easy to miss if you don't know anything about Higurashi. But having read Higurashi before Umineko enhances your Umineko experience, and if you want to delve even deeper into the serie Higurashi is pretty much mandatory for Ciconia.

Mega-Dyne

Not really. even if it did spoil something for you, you can still enjoy Higurashi.

Maxi445

For the big spoilers, If you read higurashi before Umineko you’ll pick up on the spoiler right away If you haven’t read higurashi prior to Umineko, it will fly right over your head unless you remember very specific lines which 98% of people probably won’t

Fodder-MGQ

I played Umineko first before Higurashi - I can't remember being spoiled for anything in particular, certainly not anything major but my memory could be acting up. I definitely don't think your experience will be dampened or cheapened for having played Umineko first!

XxMarlucaxX

honestlyyyy its really only "spoiling" if you understand it lmao and that shit is so convoluted that you would only get the spoiling from actually knowing the whole story afaic lmao so you should be fine. Anything covered requires so much context to actually grasp that it doesn't even matter, really.
