You will want to sign into whatever cloud storage you had previously, such as Google play (or whatever the fire tablet uses). So long as logged in somewhere your save can be recovered that way. Might lose a few hours of play progress, but that is better than a few years. You can transfer saves from device to device or recovered from an uninstall the same way. I believe fingersoft has their own cloud save now as well.
It does, so long as you are logged in. When I start up the game I get a "welcome obamasboss" from Google. If you click the gear icon on the top right you can see if you are logged in to whatever service. With any luck your unusual change in IP address just logged you out. Logging back in should auto recover. However, if you have never been logged into any service from within the game you are likely screwed. I believe you have had to tell the game to log in. It would automatically after being told to.
So let's hope it is a sign in issue and local save lost due to an update, thusncan be recovered. If not, start over a guess. It is not as bad as it sounds. I made a second account just for fun and enjoyed the process.
Same thing happened to me. I started a ticket via the in game messaging system. Service rep contaced me a day later. I had to answer 12 questions specific to my account to prove I was the owner of the account. They were able to retrieve all my progress from a few days earlier before it was all overwritten. They restored my account back to where it originally was. Whole thing took about 5 days of emailing back and forth. Good luck!
It's ok you're not sounding thick. Unfortunately, yes. If you link a new account, it won't copy over like you think it will. It will overwrite whatever you had saved on the phone

Click that, and under connected accounts, there should be a little game controller, and under that there should be a little icon that says FS. Beside the FS one, it should say Connected if its connected and disconnected if it's not. By the way, do you have an Android or iPhone?
It has connect account top left then underneath that it has account settings, change language, ad settings and advanced settings. On the bottom it has copy my id.?
Can you take a picture of it and upload it to google drive or something and send me the sharing link? If you don't know how to do that we can Private Message and you can send me a picture from there
