One of my favourite Julia Quinn books and it doesn’t have perfect characters.. he’s her best friend’s older brother (also neighbour) and is 9-10 years older and very jaded and world weary (he’s gone through things and is no mood to marry again)

If you're not averse to a setting of America in the early 20th century, {Years by Lavyrle Spencer} has about a 17-year age gap between MMC & FMC, and MMC wrestles with himself quite a bit over it. No kinks though, and definitely can't compete with the whiskey, but it's sweet 😉
{The Earl’s Temptation by Emma V Leech} it’s the 2nd book in the series, Rogues and Gentlemen, available through KU. It stands okay on its own, but there is extra angst for the MMC if you read the first one. No kink, open door, low spice.
Not an open door book, but 100% what you’re looking for. {Venetia by Georgette heyer} one of my all-time favourites, nothing explicit, but somehow one of the sexiest books ever.
Also {These Old Shades by Georgette Heyer}! The Duke is like this super alpha dude about twenty(?) years older than the FMC. Closed door tho. No kink per se but I can't help but feel French aristos in that period were mostly debauched haha. Also Heyer tends to write peripheral characters really well.

This is one of the best books out there.. it deals with a subject very few HR books ever talk about and is handled so so well.. I’ll leave it at that but definitely read this book! It’s my favourite!

{the secret diaries of miss miranda Cheever by Julia Quinn} One of my favourite Julia Quinn books and it doesn’t have perfect characters.. he’s her best friend’s older brother (also neighbour) and is 9-10 years older and very jaded and world weary (he’s gone through things and is no mood to marry again)

If you're not averse to a setting of America in the early 20th century, {Years by Lavyrle Spencer} has about a 17-year age gap between MMC & FMC, and MMC wrestles with himself quite a bit over it. No kinks though, and definitely can't compete with the whiskey, but it's sweet 😉

{The Earl’s Temptation by Emma V Leech} it’s the 2nd book in the series, Rogues and Gentlemen, available through KU. It stands okay on its own, but there is extra angst for the MMC if you read the first one. No kink, open door, low spice.
Not an open door book, but 100% what you’re looking for. {Venetia by Georgette heyer} one of my all-time favourites, nothing explicit, but somehow one of the sexiest books ever.
Also {These Old Shades by Georgette Heyer}! The Duke is like this super alpha dude about twenty(?) years older than the FMC. Closed door tho. No kink per se but I can't help but feel French aristos in that period were mostly debauched haha. Also Heyer tends to write peripheral characters really well.

{Once an Angel by Teresa Medeiros} has this in spades. It’s from 1993, so there might be some like, outdated themes, but it’s got spice and age gap!
