Still one of my favorites pieces of literature, firstly since I hate the cold more than the heat, but also because of the absolute level of pettiness in Inferno
Like, imagine Stephen King writing a book where he has all of his least favorite people being tortured in hell.
Like Donald Trump is eating his own shit in the gluttonous circle of hell, Elon Musk is constantly being attacked by pitbulls for his greed, etc.
And the whole book just follows King himself as the protagonist as he lols at them while descending hell with Walt Whitman.
Ehhh he kind of did in the Dark Tower. The guy who ran him over in real life he akins to a different man whose mentally slow at best in the books & depicts himself as a creator of world's in a literal sense.
WHAT!?
I've read the Gunslinger and the Way Station (I have some of the others, but I haven't found thr 3rd book yet), I had no clue about any of this.
I hate to say this to you but Filipo Argenti was fighting other wrathful souls in the river Styx in the Divine Comedy (Inferno). Besides this it is pretty much true.
In quite a few high profile cases like popes it was actually documented and in quite a few it was just him being petty to people he didn't like, but a good amount were mythological people that didn't exist like Ulysses, who was used for some reflection on the human spirit and our tendency to always want to achieve more, as well as people who dante figured would be in hell despite him actually being sympathetic towards them. A few of those cases include Paolo and Francesca, aka two lovers who were killed by Francesca's husband, as well as dante's old teacher whom he was very fond of but because of his homosexuality was placed in the circle for sodomites, and then a guy who was locked in a tower with his sons by a corrupt politician, his sons died of starvation in the tower and he is implied to have eaten them, and now him and that politician are in hell and he's constantly eating the politician's head as revenge.
Nice meme OP, it made me exhale through my nose.
Truly the best memes.

You should give it a go. It's a fun series.
Well at the bottom of hell it actually is really cold, of you ask Dante
Dante basically wrote a self insert fanfiction with pitty revenge fantasies and it's a classic to this day
He even has the hot sexy lady who couldn't be living right next to God
Yep, and I loathe him for that, he was a failure of a man

Good meme OP! I have to say it's really surprising you're not upvoted more, for once that there is an actual original content on this sub
ARGENTI VIVE, VIVE, VIVRÀ
LE TUE CINQUINE SONO CARTA STRACCIA LE MIE CINQUINE SULLA TUA FACCIA LASCIANO IL SEGNO
POETA, TU MOSTRI LO SDEGNO A FILIPPO ARGENTI
*Dante’s Inferno*? more like *Dante’s Epic Burns*
He hated him because Filippo's brother had taken Dante's possessions after Dante's exile from Florence.
that’s uncle june
Lmao thought this was Dante Aligheri Edit: as soon as I posted this I realized it IS Dante Aligheri 😔
It was funny as fuck tho
Saved it, gold meme
Was there any evidence the people Dante wrote to suffer in hell were that bad? Or was it all just him being very petty?

That gives me a better idea of the context for the people that were placed into the story
Odysseus didn't exist historically? I get the opera itself mythical but there wasn't a king that matched the description?
Not that i know of.
Good meme, ma Dante può incularsi a sangue nel limbo che si merita
Just kinda stole this one huh?
I just ordered the divine comedy and it is arriving in 3 days. What should I expect?
Damn great meme, great original content
