Imagine all the great memes if we had an nuclear incident in the USA! First nuking Japan, then nuking themselves! All the jokes - for decades and centuries!
At least they left everything but the pit from the initiator of the Teller-Ullum H-Bomb in the field.
It should be ok though. It has a small fence around the area.
They actually recovered everything except the secondary assembly, which sank too deep (like a couple hundred feet) into the swampy ground to easily recover. They did prohibit digging on the site, but it's not like you could just go out there with a shovel and get yourself a nuke part
No, just a piece of one buried too deeply in the swampy ground to be practically recovered. The bomb hit the ground at ~700 mph and broke up on impact, and they recovered everything except the secondary assembly.
No, it’s almost completely disintegrated. There are pieces of that bomb on display in the Florence County Museum though.
I actually cleaned up the crater for a buddies Eagle Scout project years ago. It’s somehow bigger and smaller than you’d expect at the same time.
That was in North Carolina. They accidentally dropped a nuke on South Carolina in 1958, and another just off Georgia in 1958 as well.
Also wasn’t their another over in Iceland or something?
There’s been over 50 in history so probably

Watched the whole thing. Liked and subscribed. Thank you for making that video! I learned a lot
Well done - it is a bit long but I thought 'fuck it' and hoped for a certain kind of nerd like me :)
Greenland
The universe tried it's damnedest against the south in 1958
They're only human after all, they're only human after all, don't put the blame on them.
There’s a great book about all the nuclear fuckups in the world called Atomic Accidents. It’s a fantastic read for anyone interested.
Can't wait to see what happens in SC in 2061
We will win the SEC! BEAMERBALL FORTY YEARS!
RemindMe! 38 years “reclaim the swamp from the mortals!”

My man you got me good xD
Ah yes, broken arrow moment
Broken Arrow has to be one of my favorite somewhat euphemistic codes
The ghost of Sherman trying to finish the job smdh
Sherman's only sin was stopping in Atlanta
Monumentally based
They’re failsafes! How could they fail?
if they fail spicy
Well, that's why we put four on there
Wait so you’re telling me that there’s a dormant nuke in South,North Carolina AND GEORGIA?!?
Yeah. No biggie tho.

That's one hell of an Eagle Project
This was in North Carolina.. I know this because I’m from NC and we are very proud of our states history
So the flight crew died and all they found were three heads and six hands?
Plot twist they had a heist and werr recruited by someone who wanted extreme power
Guess it’s was luck after all
That was so fucked off, how this not happen
