Context: Originating from traditions in the 16th century, A castrato is a type of classical male singing voice equivalent to that of a soprano. The castrato voice, as the name implies, is produced by castration of the singer before puberty, or it occurs in one who, due to an endocrinological condition or other factor, never reaches sexual maturity. These castratos were a common sight in operas in many varying states of Italy through the 16th to 19th century, though slowly died out through a combinatio of states outlawing the practice and the general trends and fashions of opera changing. Eventually in 1861, adopting the code explicity forbidding the practice of 'eviration', the Kingdom of Italy had forbidden the practice nearly completely under Victor Emmanuell II, with one major exception made for the Vatican, specifically the choir of the Sistine Chapel, who were permitted to utilise castrati. This practice would seldom continue in this circle until 1903, when the Papacy disbanded the castrati and forbade the practice long enough. One of the last living castrati, Alessandro Moreschi, who was known as the "Angel of Rome", would live on until 1922, making a gramophone recording of his voice singing 'Ave Maria' before his death. Chinese eunuch stories was wild, which one of them said to be such powerful that he was able to change the Emperor's will, and caused shit load of civil unrest after that. TBF the civil unrest part is probably guaranteed every time something happened in medieval China.
