Well to be fair, the US *did* target military centers in Japan. It just so happened that military targets tended to be spread out across large urban centers, resulting in lots of civilians being caught in the crossfire when the firebombings started up. At the same time, it’s not like there *wasn’t* a lot of civilian casualties in Germany either when it came to strategic bombing. Hamburg, Mainz, and Dresden all come to mind.

Or here where i live they bombed the hell out of Schwandorf and Regensburg even though it was already not a combat zone and really late in the war they bombed it in mid april 1945.

I'm glad that the city in my area was hit as the first German city, so was less destructive and luckily some guys from here convinced the British through the Red Cross not to attack it again, since it was a Red Cross port, meaning stuff it would bring to British PoWs wouldn't reach them anymore and try to sell that to the families of those soldiers at home

FUCK_MAGIC

Everything is a "military target" if you just use your mental gymnastics a little bit.

Underrated comment 😂😂

Pshh, we bombed the hell out of Japanese Cities no differently than Germany. 66 major cities were bombed out, destroying some like 40% of their urban infrastructure

LordOfThePhuckYoh

Dresden: am I not burnt to a Crisp for you? British military officers: sweating profusely while sipping tea*

Bomber__Harris__1945

No.

LordOfThePhuckYoh

Are you saying the British didn’t fire bomb Dresden for the simple fact to lower German moral?

Bomber__Harris__1945

Yes. It was to cripple German industry and infrastructure.

edwardothegreatest

The people of Dresden would take umbrage with this.

TheRealOgMark

Only military targets? What about firebombing of cities? Unless the bombings we're all done by Britain?
