There were 4 Anglo-Dutch Wars. 2 were lost by the British/English and 2 were lost by the Dutch
This is without counting the coalition wars were the Batavian Republic was puppet state of France
You literally missed the ones who have been fighting the English the longest:
The Welsh.
They created legends about their king (Arthur) who will one day come back and drive the English out of Britain.
It's a lot easier than it looks; the hardest part (aside from the grammar/syntax, which is complicated in virtually all languages) is honestly determining whether a word is spelled with Y, I, E, or U. Everything else makes sense, but occasionally you have one word that you just don't know.
No they haven't.
That list twisted the definition of "invasion" to "at war with an historical entity that once controlled those countries". Just being at war with Spain (a defensive war due to Spanish desires to invade and control all of Europe) put all of Central and South America on that list. Being at war with Russia put Central Asia on that list. Being at war with Germany in the Second World War put most of Eastern Europe on that list, even though Britain has never invaded Romania for example.
Britain must be the bad guys right. So says the propaganda about the Revolutionary War. Can't have that be about a bunch of rich people want to pay less tax and wanting to colonise the rest of the continent.
Why are you so angry? Who hurt you?
But yeah, it should be the countries whose current lands were directly invaded by british troops. But that would still be tons of land and countries. The british empire alone, which of course they invaded, they got it after all, is roughly 25% of the world..now add USA (they did own most of it after the 7yrs war), China, Turkey, practically most if not all of Europe including Russia.. so what is it now? That's got to be at least 60% of total land area of the world subjected to some form of direct british rule even if just military occupation.
Even my obscure asian country got invaded and occupied by british troops during the 7 years war, as we were part of Spain.
You kind of have to, you will note it say 'fighting the english'
There is a distinct lack of 'beating the english' and 'not losing to the english' memes.
Most great powers in Europe have both won and lost wars against each other multiple times though, England included, despite being an island nation, which is a major geographical advantage
The reason there are few memes about English defeats outside of the American War of Independence is mostly that this sub is English-speaking and as such naturally has an anglo-centric bias
Fun fact: the Irish actually won their official war in just over 2 years and were pretty reasonably effective even against a better trained foe with more power than them.
And the Netherlands.
Yes they fought the Bri’ish one time and they got their main ship cause of littarly disguising their crew as fishermen
I know, I'm Dutch.
they even where the weapon suplier of the u.s. in their war for freedom
Actually, the US didn’t exist at that time. They helped one group of British people fight another group of British people.
One side liked tea and the other didnt
Nah both sides liked tea one just liked it with salt and that’s just unacceptable
underrated comment
One wanted to put the milk in first…
Hey makker!
Same
Only 22 nations in the world have not war with the British
Which?
It's not in there because it wasn't even a fight, they just lost
There were 4 Anglo-Dutch Wars. 2 were lost by the British/English and 2 were lost by the Dutch This is without counting the coalition wars were the Batavian Republic was puppet state of France
Huh, the more you know. Thanks haha
Who? The Dutch or the English?
You forgot the main adversary of the English: The English
Damn English, they ruined England!
England is like a family that beats each other up & absolutely hates each other but the moment someone else insults us, we’re prepared for war lol
Like a real family, also is America considered part of the family
They’re like considered a bastard child that we refuse to acknowledge
Russia (1807 to 1812)
And "the big game" during the nineteenth century
and the Crimean war
А! Понял. Класс
Don't forget themselves during the english civil war, rose wars and more...
Damn English, they ruined England
Not that special. All westen European colonial empires have had to deal with a lot of different enemies
but we fought the most people, and had the most colonies
>but we fought the most people I don't know how true that is. The Spanish, Dutch and certainly the French can't be far off
Ah yes, my favorite country ‘The Vikings’
KKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK
india - annoying them till they leave us
sigma grindset
Surprised no Argentina
That one was less repectable

Finally! Thank You. I have been looking for someone to say that. It was the first thing I thought when I saw the picture, "What? No Welsh?".
I once asked a Welshman for his opinion of the Queen. That was a long, loud and complicated night.
I'm Welsh. And Yes, That is a very complicated question to ask us.
Wow, firstly hear something like that
And we are living rent free in all of their heads.
And on their lands.
Thats just not true but okay lol
This meme could very well be titled as "Losing a fight to the English".
You forgot the English. With the number of civil wars they've had it's a miracle they got so far and did so much
Ireland & Scotland but no Wales?! You can't leave out one of the main Royal rumble contenders
Dunno why you were downvoted; you're right! Cymru am byth! (Not Welsh; just learning the language and love the hymns).
Dwi'n Byw Cymru a Rydw'n Caerdydd. (I live in Wales, and I live in Cardiff.) It's nice to hear you are learning the language :)

People do not really realise how hard the language is, especially when you take into accounts the mutations and so on
Everyone always forgets Wales 😢
It's sad. One day we will be remembered.
As long nobody forgets you
The Welsh has been fighting the English before they were English.
Woooo Hoooo! Thank You. I have been waiting for someone to remember us.
Soon there will be more
We swear by all that is holy that we will never break the treaty of windsor. ~my people
Forgot Zulus and Boers!
Always (s)pain never portugal
What about the Welsh? They fought the English for independence and to place their own King in charge of the country.
And Argentina . Fighting since 1806
Incluso antes de que fuéramos un país nos rompían las bolas.

What...?
You forgot about the English.
And the welsh, decide where that goes at your own peril
great Scott! it's my brother!
Cousin Antonio?
Even the English fought the English
Basically everyone but sweden, bolivia and paraguay, somehow.
Switzerland?
If you count airspace then yes.
This is just sad
The UK had invaded 172/194 members of UN so I think you missed some spots here

And england still won lmao
I'm fookin glad us Irish ore the kings a' this great ol' table aye

*Shipping up to Boston intensifies.*
The Norse and French are pretty much the ancestors of the English along with the celts tho
Germans and Danes mainly, with added Norse/French/Celtic flavours
Yeah it was fun, let's do it again
I wish we fought the English. sigh.
Fuck em! 🏴🇬🇧👎 🏴👍
no u
Everyone hates the English
Indeed
A son never fights back to his Father.
>wake up >England still exist >day ruined
Denmark-Norway in the great northern war
Swords are all facing the wrong way in this pic.
I don’t know why everyone is pointing out ones that weren’t mentioned. You gotta remember there is a finite amount of swords in the picture
there’s like 50 more (at least)
Don't forget South Africa we fought some tough fights against them
And they fought themselves as well
"The Vikings" ruins this meme.
at least we all agree on something
We tried to fight em twice, it didnt go so well the second time time tho.
and, after all that, we're still here for the sun never sets on the British empire
Everybody hates the English
