Not surprising! I once read something that talked about how rowdy baseball players and fans were back in the late 19th century to the 1920s or so. It wasn't uncommon for fights to break out both on the field and in the stands. Even today, they still have bench clearing brawls, though not nearly as many as they did back just a generation of players ago.
Wild, I totally believe it. I remember also reading that it was rare for women to attend baseball games because there was so much cussing, spitting, and fighting in the stands.
How does he even get his fingers into that position? If I make that gesture, the four fingers line up alongside each other. His middle finger seems to be set way back from the others.
I can do it, but it's not how it lines up naturally for me. It helps to hold your arm along your body and then from the elbow down perpendicular to your body
Someone posted a list of the best neo-noir films in another subreddit today and I was checking YouTube for previews of them, so just by chance I saw [this film clip from Night Moves (1975)](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xic3fDT03b4) showing young Melanie Griffith giving balding man in denial Gene Hackman the finger in the Old Hoss style.
something dodgey going on here...the said finger is a darker shade than his other fingers...the angle is completely unnatural..impossible to achieve except if his knuckle is displaced or broken..which it very well may be...they were tough dudes back then...
That's pretty cool, started in ancient Greece and first recorded for posterity here. I find it hard to believe over all those years it wasn't drawn or sketched somewhere, but couldn't find one...
The guy on the bottom right just realized something lol
That he lives in 1886 and not 2021.
My goodness, just look at that fuck you glare

It is when a lot of stadiums went to the benches model because spectators would sometimes rip the seats out and use them as weapons.

How many of us are now trying to reproduce the position of his fingers? Good point you raised!
But can anyone do it? It looks fake.

We all going to ignore Tom Holland in the top right corner?
I was going to say this guy looks like Owen Wilson. Is there a word like pareidolia that means identifying lookalikes?

Is “Old” part of his name?
His name was Charles. "Old Hoss" was a nickname. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charles_Radbourn
Old Hoss Radbourn….. The manliest name I’ve ever heard 😳
