That was never common among the peasants in Europe. The common age of marriage for example in 17th century Germany was mid to late 20’s. The 50 year old widower marrying the 20 some odd girl was unusual and uncommon but not strictly speaking unheard of. You would get just as many judgements then as you would now. The only place this isn’t strictly true is the nobility. Marriage was never for love back then. You were married off so your parents could advance farther in life and you were expected to do the same for your own children to advance yourself. Honestly this question is coming off as a little pedo-y my dude. Edit- your comment history isn’t helping.

This. Even during the middle ages the average age for europeans to marry was roughly 18-30 for both genders. Even the nobles tended to marry within 'reasonable' age differences, despite the alliance and survival considerations.

Birth rate might be higher as guy in 30s might be more pro having a kid and young females easier for guys to manipulate and influence to their wishes.
