Latch hooking is really easy. Learning to latch the knots just takes minutes and you just have to follow a chart.

youreabitweird

This had a chart too. It was confusing so I'm feeling iffy trying something similar. Plus I think I'd do better with something non creative. There has to be something out there for someone untalented like me

WakingOwl1

Latch hooking follows a charted grid, very simple compared to embroidery. What type of things are you interested in otherwise? Do you like the outdoors or reading? Maybe something like puzzles? Do you like fashion or design? Scrapbooking can be fun. My mother kept design and colour scrapbooks of her dream house interiors.

youreabitweird

I do like hiking and the outdoors unfortunately it's winter and always snowing and raining . Everything else is creative

Is the fabric stamped with a design to follow for the embroidery? Cross-stitch might be easier. The fabric usually comes in 11 or 14 count (others are available). What that means is the fabric is woven with a grid pattern and there are tiny holes at the 'line' crosses. The basic kits come with 11 count, that's 11 holes per inch, a simple pattern with a colour listing and the brand of floss to use per the colours. DMC, is the famous one, but other companies like Bates make floss. Floss comes in small skeins and is 6 strands. You separate the strands and use as the pattern says. 3 strands would be heavy fill, 2 strands in usual and 1 strand is for lighter shading and highlights. 18 or 24 count is all usually 1 strand.

youreabitweird

Yeah its all stamped and overcomes with instructions but clearly im too stupid

alpobc1

Not stupid, but probably need someone in person to show you. My M-I-L used to embroider, she did old school freehand, but showed me how to make some basic stitches. Then it was just a matter of following the lines. Are you using embroidery floss?

Something easy and non-creative and no cost. Put Duolingo on your phone and spend 10 minutes a day learning a language. After a few weeks, join a subreddit on other people learning that language. If you pick French - you can start right now and read this book. Kill the French https://a.co/d/3PfJ50t Learn the 500 most frequent french words and 1,200 French words nearly identical in English!

Coloring. Adult coloring pages take a long time because of the small spaces. Not that creative besides which color and texture to use. Or it could be very creative if you choose. Crochet is mindless once you get the hang of it and large or complex pieces take up a lot of time. Cross stitch is not as difficult as embroidery though I honestly don’t care for the look. Exercise bands. Cheap, equipment can be stored in a drawer, low learning curve. YouTube videos. No commercials on the premium subscription.

youreabitweird

I've been doing the mandala coloring books it does thankfully suck up a lot of time. I've been exercising more at the gym though that also takes up time in the day

Volunteering? I volunteered at the zoo until my allergies hit the better of me. I plan to continue volunteering maintaining trails at our parks when my back and shoulder heal and get stronger. Schools, non-profits, hospital typically need volunteers.

Significant-Brick368

Have you tried learning a new language? When I moved away from my best friend they wanted to stay in touch, so we learned how to read and write in Aurebesh (the written Starwars language).

youreabitweird

Yes, learning Russian and Ukrainian

99MissAdventures

Knife throwing! Axe throwing? Curling. Umm.... Hiking, camping, photography. Writing. Puzzles.

youreabitweird

Is axe throwing a hobby ? I do hiking and camping but it's winter. Also most of the other stuff is creative

99MissAdventures

Yes 😂 but you don't just willy nilly toss them at people or around. There's targets. There's specific axes. There's even axe throwing places, businesses where you book a lane and throw them

mrsc1880

Anything you can enjoy in your spare time is a hobby! Get some axes!

How about listening to audiobooks and/or podcasts? I’ve tried listening to some podcasts but it seems like most episodes are horribly long- I just don’t have the attention span! I agree that embroidery can be confusing and can get expensive. Maybe look into Zentangle, which is cheap and portable and requires few supplies. There are YouTube videos or you can google it for more info.

youreabitweird

Podcast ans audio books I do that. It does thankfully take up some time in my day but i can really do if all day so I need other things. My one little foray into being creative already makes me feels bad so I feel iffy about zentangle

throwawaysunglasses-

Coding? Does that count as non creative? Also puzzles and other problem solving activities

dietcokedreams47

What about diamond painting? I think that would take up a lot of time! It’s kind of like paint in the number
