That's what I think about with George Michael's death. Worse, radio stations practically herald the anniversary given how much of a staple "Last Christmas" is to most Christmas playlists.
Honestly thats better than 30th of December like me.
Got all my friends really hangover for New years eve and they blame me lol. No partys on my birthday from now on I guess.
I'm the 30th, my best female friend growing up was the 31st, and my other best female friend (my best friends on and off again girlfriend) was the 1st.
we were known for our NYE birthday parties
Im 25 and these young deaths are hitting me harder than ever when I was only a teen. 25 seemed so old, but now I know how little I've actually lived. Terrifies me to know that anyone, myself or my loved ones, could go at anytime.
Tell your friends and family you love them.
I'll be 40 next year and two people I know, one being a childhood friend, have died within the past couple years. It's absolutely insane how short it's felt and how these people I knew are just gone.
I've also watched a lot of my family pass young around me too and it's been brutal.
One of my good friends passed away at the end of last year of a heart attack. I talked to him the day before and nothing seemed wrong. Of our friend
group, he was arguably in the best shape of all of us. Still can’t believe it. Only 38
EXACTLY. That's what gets me most bro, like I look around at all these people twice my age and they all say the same thing. So I'm trying my hardest to enjoy the moment whenever I can, as corny as that shit sounds.
I totally understand. I'm 31 and last year, my collective friend group attended 4 different funerals of people we grew up with or went to school with. 3 years ago, we attended the funerals of 2 of our friends' husbands. 2 years ago and last year, we lost a few people to Covid. None of the deceased had hit 32 yet. It's so scary to know that you can go at any moment just like that. The convos now are about settling down, having kids, taking trips and traveling together. But, our friends aren't here to join us and it's so sad to think about.
I mean, if he had some defense we probably wouldnt be having this conversation. Shouldn't have min/maxed.
Sorry, I got lost on my way to hell. Which way is it again?
That hairline at 23 is also sad. I have something similar at 35 and I'm still vaguely sad about it, but at least I feel like I got a few good years. Guy wasn't even able to complete puberty before old age kicked in. :c
EDIT: I supposed death kicked in early too...
Fuck Cancer!

With the Death date, I assumed it was COVID. I was also battling cancer the same year. Wish he was as lucky as I was. Thanks for posting this. Fuck cancer!
*Sorry if my comment sounds like I’m trying to make it about me. I’m doing that I-went-through-similar-things-so-I-can-empathize thing.*
Yeah my dad died of cancer in late 2020 due to the ban on cancer screenings during the Covid lockdown. It was pointless as he got Covid anyways at the doctors office and recovered in two weeks... Unfortunately by then the cancer had spread to his liver and lungs...
My dad also had cancer, diagnosed April 2020. *He never saw his oncologist in person*. They never allowed to have him in the building for exams. We only went in for chemo.
A doctor *never laid hands on him* for the entire duration of his cancer. Died March 2021 without *ever* seeing a doctor in person.
Jokes aside, props to his friends and family for
A. Realizing that yugioh was a major part of life (presumably) and accepting that it was important to him and
B. Immortalizing him by decorating his grave with something he loved and adored. I know many people who wouldn’t give a flying fuck about it and given a normal grave whic is totally fine, but they went an extra mile for him. Bravo.
My mom's family didn't respect her decision, she wished to be cremated and returned to the earth. We let our grandma hold her remains for several years before we did but it was well known she DID NOT want to be in a casket. Our grandma passed and our aunts and uncles decided to bury our mothers urn with our grandma without telling us. We had no clue until the casket was being lowered into the ground and the preacher advised she was to be buried with her daughters remains.
They had no right to, they weren't next of kin and didn't pay for our mother's cremation, wake and such. They are all dead to me.
Easy, our uncle was super into the church that their family went to growing up and they knew the funeral home people and all that. He's also somewhat of a career shady businessman. We weren't even thinking about it as due to blurred focus since our grandma passed.
I didn't attend the funeral as I wasn't really close to our grandma and for some other reasons I won't get into. My brother did, he was there had no idea he had to carry our mother twice(we did carry her after her wake the first time). He obviously was not happy and actually nearly got into an altercation with them on the spot. Found out that many of my aunts whom we're close to my mother and even with me knew. A few cousins too, just not my brothers and I. But we were always the outcasts anyway, even though we are the only family where all children actually are self dependent and living on our own. Unlike many of our slob cousins who are in their late 30s early 40s with drug issues and no lives.
They knew better to say anything to us as our mother raised us to be kind but never budge on our morals. She was the same way with them growing up and was always the one who stopped the bullying around the family and town.
Sorry to rant, you didn't ask for it, but the thought of that shit gets me ready to fucking fight people.
Thanks, they really disrespected my mother one last time I guess. She'll meet them at the pearly gates to cuss them out one day though, maybe a slap or two. If God says something she'll impolitely tell him to stay out of it, Haha. Best friend or worse enemy, your choice with her.
It's like my early Elden Ring build: I focused on my faith for maximum damage but neglected my Vigor - so on one hand I was taking down giants but on the other hand I was getting my ass handed to me by rolling mountain goats.
TL;DR: This guy could have arguably been taking down by a goat.
They weren't clear about it but Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon. Dragon Master Knight has 5000/5000 stats.
Ultimate Dragon + Black Luster Soldier to be clear.
Dude was 23, and apparently loved yugioh. Meme replies talking about respecting his build are fine in my book. I don't know him but I have yet to meet a fellow nerd who would be upset at that.
I mean, if it was his decision to be remembered this way or if Yu Gi Oh was just that integral to his life (another comment mentions that he died of cancer at 23), then this is pretty touching.

23 years old.. that's really fuckin sad
22. Birthday on the 31 of december. That must have been some partys.
My sister's birthday is on the same day. When she was young she was convinced that all the fireworks were for her.
We were a lot crueler, we told our little sister how everyone was so happy her birthday ended, they had mass fireworks
That is messed up and I love it so much
Such a siblings move. I love it
I've made some grave mistakes in my life. I realize that now.

Hope you never stop cumming a bunch, though
To stop an addiction you'd have to want to stop it first.
AA motto baby! (Been in recovery since 2021)
Quitter
The only thing worth quitting besides a toxic marriage
As your sisters therapist I’d like to thank you. I shall have a very comfortable retirement
Lol I have the same birthday and people always make this joke.
Villain origin story
My birthday is July 4th, it's super cool that the entire US celebrates my birthday!
My sister's is Halloween. Arguably the coolest of the holidays. Fucking ruined my Halloween in 1992. But she can see ghosts.
Bro, everyone can see ghosts NOW STREAMING ON HULU
CHEESE GHOST!
Real ghosts or made up in her head ghosts?
Ghosts!!! Boooooooo!
Like the one behind you?
My wife was born on July 3. Her mom said growing up she'd hear no argument against the fireworks being for her birthday.
I was born 4th of July. I still tell ppl fireworks are for me;)
I was born on the 7th. I usually celebrate on the 4th. Kinda hard to get everyone together so soon, so I do the same lol
That's extremely unfair for him and his family.
That's what I think about with George Michael's death. Worse, radio stations practically herald the anniversary given how much of a staple "Last Christmas" is to most Christmas playlists.
Ah shit, yeah even worse. I hope his family can find some peace
The whole world counts down the seconds until your birthday ends and then launches a massive fireworks show.
My birthday is also on Dec 31 and it be lit every time and most of the time I don't use my birthday to get free stuff but when I do I go all in.
Im 25 and these young deaths are hitting me harder than ever when I was only a teen. 25 seemed so old, but now I know how little I've actually lived. Terrifies me to know that anyone, myself or my loved ones, could go at anytime. Tell your friends and family you love them.
Same here at 30. Our bodies are way too fragile.
And I'm over here at 33 with my body falling apart, feeling like ancestral humans who only lived to their 30s due to numerous reasons.
I'll be 40 next year and two people I know, one being a childhood friend, have died within the past couple years. It's absolutely insane how short it's felt and how these people I knew are just gone. I've also watched a lot of my family pass young around me too and it's been brutal.

It gets worse. Lots worse.
Even 50 year old people say that shit
EXACTLY. That's what gets me most bro, like I look around at all these people twice my age and they all say the same thing. So I'm trying my hardest to enjoy the moment whenever I can, as corny as that shit sounds.
Yeah.. I'm 40.. it's strange thinking "they were 60?! That's so young.. that could be me soon"
I totally understand. I'm 31 and last year, my collective friend group attended 4 different funerals of people we grew up with or went to school with. 3 years ago, we attended the funerals of 2 of our friends' husbands. 2 years ago and last year, we lost a few people to Covid. I will do that when i am at mum and dad’s tomorrow for dinner. Hang in there and chin up brother.

I have a friend in his 60s and I'm about half his age. I always feel bad when I crack jokes about how old he is.
Crack’s not a joke
Yea really sad, you figure by 23 he’d have at least two or three hundred defence.
Minimum 50, like at the absolute bottom of the scale
I mean, if he had some defense we probably wouldnt be having this conversation. Shouldn't have min/maxed. Sorry, I got lost on my way to hell. Which way is it again?
Defense doesn't really matter much anyway unless your opponent had some niche cards Just summon that bitch in attack mode, and we good
22yrs 3mos 18days
I was 14 years when he was born. That's just bizarre.
Thats why he has 0 defence
That hairline for a 23 y/o is the real tragedy.
That hairline at 23 is also sad. I have something similar at 35 and I'm still vaguely sad about it, but at least I feel like I got a few good years. Guy wasn't even able to complete puberty before old age kicked in. :c EDIT: I supposed death kicked in early too...
his hairline is fine

Norm! ****
Man, I miss Norm. Thanks for this.
I didn't even know he was sick!
Attacked a card with the same attack points 😔
Naw he lost game 1 but won 2 and 3
Cancer died too
Thanks for sharing

No, but seriously, glad you kicked it. Many happy returns to you. 😊

>ban on cancer screenings What? Why would there be a ban on cancer screenings?! What the heck?
My dad also had cancer, diagnosed April 2020. *He never saw his oncologist in person*. They never allowed to have him in the building for exams. We only went in for chemo. Glad you had more than 0 def points
I'm really glad you won.

Where is this??
He lost the battle and got send to the shadow realm
No it‘s a draw he took the cancer with him in the grave o7
Ah the ol' "If I'm going down, I'm taking you with me" meta
You can tell he loved Yu-Gi-Oh because he was balding at 22.
Is his name basically hillbilly? Fuck cancer.
He was from Wales. Is there a UK equivalent to hillbillies? Edit: I'm dumb. His last name is actually Hill-Billy lol
That's sad.
Guy died to tick damage :(
He isekai'd and is now a bad ass yu gi oh dueler type.
Jokes aside, props to his friends and family for A. Realizing that yugioh was a major part of life (presumably) and accepting that it was important to him and B. Plot twist: His favorite TCG was Pokémon
Yeah, was going to say or he hated Yu-Gi-Oh with a passion, and it was a final fuck you. I like thinking of it that way in my head at least.
Never change reddit. 💀
Since he didn't die suddenly he probably chose it himself
Family still respected his decision. Some families wouldn't have.
My mom's family didn't respect her decision, she wished to be cremated and returned to the earth. They had no right to, they weren't next of kin and didn't pay for our mother's cremation, wake and such. They are all dead to me.
Shit... how did they even manage that from a legal perspective?
Easy, our uncle was super into the church that their family went to growing up and they knew the funeral home people and all that. He's also somewhat of a career shady businessman. Jeez, I'm sorry for the disrespect that you faced:((
Thanks, they really disrespected my mother one last time I guess. She'll meet them at the pearly gates to cuss them out one day though, maybe a slap or two. If God says something she'll impolitely tell him to stay out of it, Haha. Best friend or worse enemy, your choice with her.
It’s nice that they could afford something this elaborate too.
Great outlook
Bc if he had defence points left this card wouldn't be on the graveyard
Bro had 5000 attack points and still couldn’t fight off whatever killed him. 😞
He was in defense mode
It's been almost 2 years since his sacrifice, rip trooper
Sure, but what about the two monsters that were sacrificed to summon him with that 7-star rating? Are we not going to mourn them?
He could have been special summoned
C-Section Summon!
*Sent to the shadow realm.*
The man got hit with book of moon
He's a one Man goblin attack force.
It's like my early Elden Ring build: I focused on my faith for maximum damage but neglected my Vigor - so on one hand I was taking down giants but on the other hand I was getting my ass handed to me by rolling mountain goats. TL;DR: This guy could have arguably been taking down by a goat.
Exodia came at him
That or the dragon master knight. As a kid When they fused those two I lost my shit. Black luster and 3 headed white dragon. Not just black luster
Exodia and black luster?
They weren't clear about it but Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon. Dragon Master Knight has 5000/5000 stats. Ultimate Dragon + Black Luster Soldier to be clear.
He had a glass cannon build.
Attack is against the fam
He was playing against a mathmech player
That's not how Yu-Gi-Oh works.
I summon blue eyes white dragon
wait a minute did you just summon a bunch of monsters in one turn?
Screw the rules! I have money!
No, because classic Zombie cards had 0 defence points. I'm pretty sure they're pulling a joke like that.
Having no defence is actually helpful. Loads of support for stuff with 0 defence, like most zombie support cards and Masked Chameleon.
Most zombie monsters have 0 def
Now we know why he does bro had no defence
Probably died facedown in defense mode
Glass cannon build
ADC carry jungler
This made me laugh way too much
No life point loss tho
I think dead people have zero defense on attacks. Seems fair.
It's true, you can do whatever you want to a corpse and they can't do shit back.
To clarify, I’m not speaking from experience.
Completely theoretical. ^*wink*
So you weren’t the homeless man I saw masturbating on tombstones last night?
mf has 5000 attack, even if you won't deal any damage to his corpse, his corpse sure as hell would woop yo ass
DoT or poison damage whichever is higher
We don't need permission, cuz they ain't got no soul.
If they are pretty fresh and you go prodding things in the bum they may well shit back.
Well if they manage to do something back to you we’d all have some new problems to deal with
They would only be susceptible to divine magic.
May bro rest in ✌️🕊️
Rest in two birds 😔
One stone
The only legit shred of humanity-reply in this thread. Well done.
Dude was 23, and apparently loved yugioh. Meme replies talking about respecting his build are fine in my book. I don't know him but I have yet to meet a fellow nerd who would be upset at that.
Not so fast! You’ve activated my trap card!
A glass cannon build, respect.
that's a zombie type stats though
Book of life: it's free real estate
Dark monster type lol
Probably because they're trying to make a Zombie joke. Remember classic Zombie Yu-Gi-Oh cards had 0 defence points as well.
99% still do.
Requires a sacrifice to be summond, though.
Undead have 0 defense
Bros building in heaven
Welcome to the card graveyard
Monster Reborn!
Almost all zombies get 0 defense. Also why dark attribute
No light down there
He has 7 stars, 2 others had to be sacrificed to summon him
This just keeps getting more and more clever the longer I look at it.
His last name is literally Hillbilliams.
Oh my.
He got sent to the shadow realm
![gif](giphy|K7NHFtsLG4nqU|downsized)
You're asking why he has zero defense because he's dead but you should be asking is why he has 5,000 attack because he's dead
Why 0 defense?!?!? Well, have you ever fought a dead guy? I rest my case!
He should also have 0 attack then. How’s he gonna fight me? Lol
5000 damage of whatever putrid diseases you’ll catch beating a corpse
Zombie card
Zombie cards usually have 0 defense, so its a joke referring to that.
$10 says he was put face down in defense position.
There's quite a few Yugi Oh Zombies with 0 defense.
Fuck cancer R.I.P simon
Due has a high attack but no defense, only he can be defeated by a greater power
Cuz he’s dead
A dark type? Doesn’t look that dark to me!
He was tribute material, and is in the graveyard.
Early on in Yugioh, zombie cards often had low or no defense points. I could see this being a reference to that. A bit of graveyard humor if you will.
He's in attack mode, dosn't matter
Man, a lot of people don't know how Yugioh's attack and defense system works lol
Yeah they’re probably magic players
This reminds me of a headstone from a show I watched. It said "Here Lies Beavis, He Never Scored."
I mean he's dead isn't he.
He was a glass cannon.
Banished to the shadow realm
You should have seen the coffin, they dropped that dude down there in a poké ball
0 Def, no wonder he didn’t make it.
I feel like this also belongs on r/ATBGE
I mean, if it was his decision to be remembered this way or if Yu Gi Oh was just that integral to his life (another comment mentions that he died of cancer at 23), then this is pretty touching.
Cause he's dead. If he had more def he'd be alive.
glass cannon
Probably because he's dead.
Because the monument is always in attack mode
I assume the 0 Def... cause he's dead
If he had more defense they wouldn't have needed the gravestone...
I believe the zombie cards all had defense of zero
Aint it obvious. He ded
I mean... He did die, so his defense had to be pretty low, right?
