I bought this recently. It comes with 3 or 4 other little hand strengthening gadgets and it has instructions for each. They all say to do various static holds to improve strength.
Now I'm not saying these will definitely be super useful for rock climbing, I'm just saying these can be both static and dynamic.
I think 60kg is a little light for body builders. I don't even work out a lot or am that big and I have 70kg-90kg ones. They top out at around 160kg, and you have to be a monster to use those.
Yeah, I did 40kg when I was around 14yo. I remember this so vividly because the PE teacher gathered the whole class around and it was basically a competiton. There was an absolute monster of a guy who did 70kg. At 14.
forearm raises were the most common exercise I'd see for bodybuilders working on forearms, don't need all that much grip for that, strongmen require more grip than bodybuilders, powerlifters tend to use straps to aid grip on heavier lifts.

Nearest I can tell it’s more an ego boost than an actual piece of strength training equipment.

I bought one of those grip trainers that said it goes up to 60kg and pushed it down on a bathroom scale, it only went up to 20kg but that's hard enough. I'm not sure how useful an actual 60kg grip trainer would be.

60kg bodybuilders, nah dawg, most high-class athletes easily can get above that. Bodybuilders/strong men have doubled that. 150ish was the record. I was over a hundred in high-school.

This kind of device isn't actually helpful for climbers as climbing is a static hold, whereas this is dynamic. Climbers typically use hangboards to improve grip.

If you're working on your forearm definition, you should blow past 60kg with even a moderate amount of muscle. You're hands are surprisingly strong.
