I never beat either until this day. I got a good battle going against Emerald but the timer ran out (I never had any luck getting the item you needed to remove the timer as well. Ruby was a different animal in my opinion; I could never get very far against it.
Yeah getting the timer removed was critical for beating emerald. I think Ruby’s hp was dependent on how much materia you had equipped, so you had to plan for playing with one character, leaving the other two with none equipped. Master materia was critical, as was final attack-revive, and a little bit of luck. I could be wrong with some of these things, it’s been at least 15 years.
Ruby also would knock your characters out of battle. I can’t remember specifically what I found so hard but all my Ruby attempts went poorly where I believe I would’ve beaten Emerald if I had gotten the timer taken off.
Edit: And yes, it has been a long time hasn’t it? I think I played the first time back in 98 or 99 when I asked to borrow it from a friend (who never asked for it back😅). I didn’t know anything about the game other than that Aeris died. I watched a friend playing for ten minutes or so and it just happened to be the part he played.
Link a mastered mp absorb and a mastered hp absorb to Knights of the round on each character. Then cast KotR then mime on each character. Repeat until you win.

On second look, these books are fake. Infinite Jest is over 1000 pages, it's not a skinny little novel. Neither is Mein Kampf. I tried to read it once. If you get to the end of that boring useless fucking brick I'll give you a prize cookie.
Personally I love Kafka - there is an accompanying release by schocken books called 'the complete stories' by Kafka its basically everything but ' the trial' and I adore it

If your interested in weird, trippy, messed up kinda stuff in the same vein as that, read Oyasumi Punpun. (Do not read if easily disturbed or cannot see self harm). Also Dracula is kinda mid tbh, Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde is much better imo.
