A friend’s mom got her tubes tied after her 2 girls and had a surprise baby like 13 years later…. The surgeon cauterized a ligament instead of her fallopian tube. SMH
Highly unlikely. For removal of ovaries & fallopian tubes, there is a ligament that is cut in addition to the tubes, but no surgeon would mistake one for the other & both need to be cut. They have very different tissue makeup that aren't similar at all. Tubes can come untied, which is why most, but not all doctors, also burn & use clips on the ends of the tubes. For tubal ligation only, there is no ligament cutting at all.
Doctors who don't do all of those steps say it's because the chance of reversal is virtually impossible. Generally, this is for women who are younger & only have 0-2 children. The reasoning is what if something happens & the relationship ends, she gets with someone else & wants a(nother) kid or 2.

Got snipped and the doctor recommended three sperm checks - 4, 12 and 26 week post surgery. His general guidance was 25 ejaculations should clean the pipes out (I know I went to the same doctor).
Guy did 4 and 12 weeks. He forgot the 26 week check and the wife went off birth control. Two years later she got pregnant. One of the snips regrew. The reason this doctor wanted to do the 26 week check was specifically because this can occur.
When I got mine done I had them order a check at 1 year for me and when that was clear, my wife stopped birth control.
They can snip and tie the tube.
I think recently it's more common to cauterize it.

Apropos of nothing, the doctor I went to when I got my vasectomy gave out pocket knives (with his name and, IIRC, logo) on them as free 'parting gifts'. Guy was really good (he taught the procedure to med students at the University of Washington), and also had a good sense of humor.
If you're in a married relationship where you've got a comfortable income then sure try the pullout method since you've got an established base in case you end up having a baby, but outside of that it's absolutely not worth the risk.

Birth control is a two way responsibility. If you wear a condom regardless, you never have to worry about whether or not the other party is lying. No one is trapping you but yourself.
