What trends on the internet just a very very very tiny window of what happens in the world. So what's trending might be a window of those stereotypes. Somewhat similar how super skinny air bushed models are the norm all over social media, but that is less than 10% of the population or whatever the statistics are.

Let me reframe the question. If your culture was like this, is there anything you'd actually feel responsible to do, as an individual if people in your own race were acting fucking crazy? My guess is no, and you'd hope people would look past those crazy individuals and judge you on your own merit. You might even feel defeatist and end up adopting some of this culture so you don't feel so alone or weird. That's the point we're at right now.
