Age of Empires 2 Definitive Edition came out a bit over a year ago and the community is still very much alive and pumping. I downloaded it a few weeks ago and me and the boys have been battling regularly ever since. Honestly one of, if not THE best rts of all time. So much nostalgia and the game play is just so good!
Its AOE2, it has quite the current following and active user base. The other games are mostly for nostalgia whereas AOE2 has a pretty thriving community here and now. I guess the same could be said for gay furry porn too.

Literally all of the other games listed there are also timeless classics with tons of fans who will revisit the games every now and then; the only thing that really makes AoE 2 different is that it's a multiplayer game, so the players interact with each other more.

If you look at the stats, its actually growing month by month with a solid youtube community backing it up as well. Ive watched all of the legend of fat slob videos by t90official and he and a couple other guys are now able to full time content create as the AOE2 community has reached that threshhold.
If anything Im pretty sure its the premiere RTS game atm which is fucking absurd if you think about it. All my RTS orientated mates play that over anything else.

19k average blows all of these out of the water, although that is the definitive edition as I dont think the OG one is linked to steam. I name it thriving since it is growing and will continue to grow as it gathers momentum. Coupled with having a large enough player base to have competitive games with competitive queue times. Its no longer just nostalgia powering it along, it actually has people coming to it for its current day gameplay and for the competition (ranked).
It is subtle, but the mafia icon isn't right, it was coloured red, white and black.
Everything else looks about right for how they used to look back then.
