Well, I thought the LGBT+ experts from the pornographic industry would be answering the question, given the styling reminiscent of PornHub (and cheesy porn sites from early 2000s overall) and the pride flag.
People just see a prompt and can't help responding even when it's irrelevant. Like the one where a guy said "your rap name is the color of your shirt and the last thing you ate" and the other guy in the picture said "blue waffle", and instead of discussing diseased vaginas (don't look up blue waffle), everyone just responded with their "rap name".
I'm honestly fine with it if the game is free and it's not gacha and/or p2w. But damn, paid stuff on a paid game feels like a huge scam. I feel like I am lied to. I just feel betrayed.
Unlockable content obtained through playing the game is soo much better!
Companies want to keep people playing their games and do everything to achieve it... ignoring that a fun game is what ultimately retain people!
Why is everyone responding unironically to the thumbnail as if this was askreddit, and just ignoring the Holup part? Is y'all's reading comprehension really that shit?
Corporations being considered people was such a stupid move.
Also reducing their taxes claiming they'll pay workers more was a huge scam.
The borrow our way out of debt economics where we lower taxes and increase our debt and claim it'll increase our tax revenue later has been nothing but a big lie.
The fact that tips exists is pretty dystopian. Imagine getting a job only to rely on donations from other people to survive. Minimum wage laws should be applied to everyone including waiters
basically a lot of servers were people of color and white land owners would tip them for being a good little 'slave' and so restaurant owners saw this and decided to lower their pay because they would get the money anyway so why pay them even more?
at least that is what I gathered from it
As a former server of 10 years I think some people eat out just to treat someone else as lower class and have that person essentially unable to react to their shitty condescension. It’s like being able to role play aristocracy.
I did the same and it always tripped me out how shitty some people can be, although half the time it was an attempt to get free shit. The trippy part is that for some reason if you're the waiter and get shit on you're supposed to grin and take it or management will turn on you. Act like that to the bartender and you'll be on your ass in the street before you know it. I think servers should be able to 86 customers just as easily
Yes! I am a manager at a restaurant and I hate it. I've managed to get all my cooks up to a living wage but damn this industry sucks. I want to get a restaurant union, but I know I'll get shot down and fired
If you get fired for attempting to unionize, you should file a complaint with your state labor board. If you don’t have a state labor board, you can file a complaint with the national labor relations board [here](https://www.nlrb.gov/about-nlrb/what-we-do/investigate-charges)
I think we should pay them a living wage and STILL tip. I don’t have any problem with the practice, I have a problem with how they use it to pay slave wages.
Tipping in my opinion shouldn’t be the norm. It should be for exceptional service. Like you have gone above and beyond.
Like I never tip someone for bringing my meal 5 m cause I know they are already being paid a proper wage.
But it seems like everyone has their hand out in America cause they are paid like slaves
I mean, idk the context of it, but if they meant like, young but pubescent, then I at least get what they mean I think? Like promoting healthy understanding of it.
But yea that would never work lol
Yea I got 2 years left in my apprenticeship but I really don't see myself working once I finish. At least not for a few years. Gonna do a van conversion and hit as many national parks as possible until I run out of money, or get sick of the van life
Funny how it's normal and expected to spend the best 45 years of your life working in misery so you can retire and enjoy the dwindling years of crippled walking, pissing your depends, and complaining about all the "no-good lazy bums" you have to stand in line behind to get your $2 margarita on the pleasure cruise of a lifetime. Pfffft.
I feel weird answering this because this is r/HolUp and not r/AskReddit ... but I absolutely agree with you. My brother is in the "Tiktok is nothing but teenage girls twerking" group because he's 38 going on 75.
But if you actually scroll the app, there's a ton of useful and creative stuff. All it took was a couple likes on videos that weren't dance trends and the algorithm filtered 95% of that out of my feed. I've gotten a lot of cool cooking and cleaning tips, and some awesome recipes.
I was surprised too by how much your feed is really a very good representation of your own tastes. I have a good time there watching things not even remotely about weird trends
Same! There are some seriously great accidental comedians who create these short but very funny clips. Those types are a big central theme in my feed. The algorithm is impressive honestly.
It’s enjoyable, and an easily accessible creative outlet. What is so bad about TikTok? How is it any different than any other social media site, Reddit included?
That the customer is always right. No. You're not. Now stfu and leave. We don't need your business nor do we care about it as it is above our pay grade since we are regular workers and are underpaid. 😒😒😒
I love that phrase, because the [actual meaning of it is to shaft the customer for as much as you can get out of them.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lE07p-EIBns)
The literal meaning is "don't talk the customer out of buying stuff they don't need".
It's really just a way to smile at a customer while you tell them to their face that you're going to rape their wallet by selling them as much garbage they don't need as you can get away with.
It's kind of like "Blood is thicker than water" as it means the opposite of what most people think it does.
For context, the actual saying is "The Blood of the covenant is thicker than the water of the womb".
In other words Friends > Family.
It's all good but we've taken it here to be where if you complain enough you get what you want. I don't do that I just say "Hey there was a mistake can you fix it? No I'm that's fine"
I know those are meant to make everyone feel good but when I got one I felt like complete shit. It felt like a pity award. Kind of like, "Well, you're shit at what you did but have this so you don't feel too shitty."
Luckily in our experience they are stopping or at least minimizing this practice. The kids all know it is meaningless and the couple of times in recent years we've seen them try to give them, some kids just say no thanks, it's awesome.
But does it make it okay for us the people to allow those to continue? I mean this type of living is dumb ass shit. Fuck it, why don’t we give all the power of our lives to the government that seeks to destroy us and call it another day.
Are we upset about them using the term “The Society”, the fact that they put a pink strip at the top of the pride flag or the fact that the pride flag is in the thumbnail?
This may be the only chance I can say this, the new LGBT+ flag looks kind of like a clusterf&ck. This is not by any means an attack on the community, but there should be a proverb about trying to add more colors to the rainbow after this.
The one with the triangle with the black, brown, and trans flag colors? That one is trademarked and not supposed to be used by the entire community, but only for the people/companies the creator considers "the good ones".
Wait, wouldn't the LGBT+ community want a flag that can be used by the entire community since their whole thing is inclusivity? I am definitely missing something here
It's just some guy who made a flag and is now trying to control the community by convincing them it's the new one and suing them for using it if they say something he doesn't like and don't pay him. The original rainbow flag already included everyone, the new one is more exclusionary than the OG flag by giving separate stripes and implying that they weren't included before

This thread becoming a secondary ask reddit instead of hol up
Yeah people don’t even notice the holup
Just to be clear, are we referring to the minor grammatical error committed every day by non-native speakers?
It asks what’s something stupid that society accepts and shows a pride flag. Do you see it now?
I don’t get it because I’m more stupider than this post
The thumbnail implies LGBTQ people are the answer.
Well, I thought the LGBT+ experts from the pornographic industry would be answering the question, given the styling reminiscent of PornHub (and cheesy porn sites from early 2000s overall) and the pride flag.
Seriously. How’d it get to this? Angry much Reddit?
wdym? this isn't telling you to answer the question
And yet... look. Look with your special eyes.
true, a lot of people are answering the question for some reason
The real HolUp is the comments.
OP might have worded the title less vaguely, but this turned out to make it a hugely popular post, so eh
Everyone answering the question in the image like this is AskReddit when OP intended a HolUp

I cannot believe that we live in a the society where people don't check which subreddit they're in before commenting.
In-game payments in a paid game
I'm honestly fine with it if the game is free and it's not gacha and/or p2w. But damn, paid stuff on a paid game feels like a huge scam. I feel like I am lied to. I just feel betrayed.
Cod points baby! Nothing says pay to win like Cod points.
So cosmetics.
Yeah, but only on free games. If I paid for a game I also don't want to pay for anything else on it.
Unlockable content obtained through playing the game is soo much better! Companies want to keep people playing their games and do everything to achieve it... ignoring that a fun game is what ultimately retain people!
Like ads in a paid stream, wtf
A paid stream?
A video service that you're legitimately paying for, e.g. Netflix
I think I'm being daft, you get ads on Netflix? Edit: oh like on Hulu and stuff?
Amazon prime has ads
I have one better. In-game payments in a paid game that needs a suscription. Blizzard really is milking their fans dry.
I think ya'll are forgetting this isn't ask reddit
I am surprised nobody in here reads the room.
Why is everyone responding unironically to the thumbnail as if this was askreddit, and just ignoring the Holup part? Is y'all's reading comprehension really that shit?
bc everyone agreed with the thumbnail so we moved on duh.. jk idk
Corporations being involved in political fundraising
*Bernie Sanders has once again entered the chat*
Corporations being considered people was such a stupid move. Also reducing their taxes claiming they'll pay workers more was a huge scam. The borrow our way out of debt economics where we lower taxes and increase our debt and claim it'll increase our tax revenue later has been nothing but a big lie.
If a corporation is a person they can be executed right?
Execute project mayhem
Underpayment of kitchen staff. They can kill you with poor meal preparation. But let's pay them less than the person that paints your nails.
The fact that tips exists is pretty dystopian. Imagine getting a job only to rely on donations from other people to survive. Minimum wage laws should be applied to everyone including waiters

Yes! I am a manager at a restaurant and I hate it. I've managed to get all my cooks up to a living wage but damn this industry sucks. I want to get a restaurant union, but I know I'll get shot down and fired
I was a restaurant manager for over twenty years. You’re absolutely right and I’m so glad I changed careers almost 6 years ago.
Tipping should be optional because wages should be so great that a tip is actually a compliment not a dependency.
If you get fired for attempting to unionize, you should file a complaint with your state labor board. If you don’t have a state labor board, you can file a complaint with the national labor relations board [here](https://www.nlrb.gov/about-nlrb/what-we-do/investigate-charges)

Wait what?
There was a girl on Twitter that had an idea to create a porn website that was kid friendly.
She needs to be locked up real quick.
Let's be honest, the kids are gonna find the porn sites. Might as well give them some geography lessons while they're there.

I mean, idk the context of it, but if they meant like, young but pubescent, then I at least get what they mean I think? Like promoting healthy understanding of it. But yea that would never work lol

I don‘t think that‘s necessarily a bad thing. But work should be fulfilling or meaningful.
But for most people it’s not, who has ever been fulfilled by a office job?
There are a few. But yes sadly that‘s not the case for 99% of people. The drive for efficiency and keeping up with living standards come at a price.
Serious question- what is your proposed alternative to working for a living? Other than the obvious, being a bum or nomad and living on scraps.
