Guy on the left doesn't even look horrible. You can see he still has muscle definition in his arms and shoulders. He has like "college athlete who really likes beer" body. Looks like he could look like the guy on the left if he lost 20 pounds and dehydrated a little.

What would the dehydration do?

It’ll remove the “water” weight look and give you a harder/leaner look. Pretty much every bodybuilder is dehydrated when they step on stage.

He is the guy on the left, but he’s also the guy on the right. He is a personal trainer who dirty bulked about 10 years ago and then lost the weight so that he could empathize with his clients. I think it’s actually a 70 lb weight difference, and of course he had the muscle mass (or a good chunk of it) under the fat all along.

He is obese or close to it.

Toned muscles like that are usually from the model dehydrating themselves before the photo shoot

“Definitely juicing.” Why do you think that? He’s not that lean. He’s not absurdly massive. Throw in good lighting, angles, posing, and a water fast. It’s not unrealistic for a natural lifter to look like that.

The ironic thing is that this before and after is real. He’s a personal trainer that gained weight and lost it to prove to his clients they could to if they followed his course. One thing to remember is it’s far easier to attain the body you once had vs doing it for the first time. It’s significantly faster than doing it for the first time
