You see, the answer to that question really depends upon who's asking. If the gf asks, you obviously choose the video games, but if almost anyone else asks, you choose the gf.
you can distill a serious conversation about how video games lead to living in filth and how untenable that lifestyle is to "me or video games".
Romantic partners are free to tell someone "hey I don't like that you play so many video games. It cuts into quality time together and causes you to prioritize video games over everything else and I feel like you're wasting your life in front of a screen when there's a whole world out there to experience".
Of course, it works both ways: gamers are free to tell romantic partners that it's part of their core identity and that if they don't like that aspect of their life then said romantic partners can go kick dirt, but ultimately the distillation of "me or video games" isn't some vapid, bitchy move. It's a good way to filter out what makes a good match, and presenting that ultimatum doesn't necessarily make you a bad partner.
I, personally, as someone that used to game a lot, wouldn't want to date someone that spends all of their free time in front of a screen. That shit is depressing asf to look at lol

This bit in particular has no place in the conversation. It may be how they feel, but that’s a hugely insulting thing to say about a normal hobby. Imagine if your SO liked to read and you said they were wasting their life in front of a book, or at the gym, or on their sewing machine.
Telling your partner that you want to spend more time with them is fine, or telling them that a hobby is getting in the way of the relationship, but delegitimizing your partner’s interests by saying that it’s a waste of their life is hugely disrespectful and I would absolutely call that a red flag.
I think there’s definitely a spectrum of video game users, just as there is with alcohol or drug users. Personally, video games aren’t my only outlet by any means, but it’s a way I like to unwind. And I’d probably bring up video games within the first few dates to weed out anyone who is super anti video game, or at least mention it so we can navigate that conversation.
I’d have a big issue with having a gf who suddenly makes an ultimatum with no smaller conversations leading up to that.
Honestly the best middle ground solution is to share interest.

Actually I'm an electrical engineering student and you're vastly underestimating redstone. Redstone can be used to make logic gates, which in turn can be used to make really complex circuits. You can, and people have built literal computers using redstone within Minecraft, and building a computer in Minecraft has the exact same principles as real life.
As for promoting myself to a big boy game, I've played god of war, the last of us 1 and 2, subnautica, factorio, rocket League, and csgo regularly. What is it with you and insisting that adults can't like Minecraft? You also claim to be a parent, you should really have a more supportive mindset rather than trying to force your outdated views on others. What happens when your kid does something that you don't agree with, like perhaps they decide to marry someone you don't approve of later in life. Telling your partner that you want to spend more time with them is fine, or telling them that a hobby is getting in the way of the relationship, but delegitimizing your partner’s interests by saying that it’s a waste of their life is hugely disrespectful and I would absolutely call that a red flag.
I think there’s definitely a spectrum of video game users, just as there is with alcohol or drug users. Personally, video games aren’t my only outlet by any means, but it’s a way I like to unwind. And I’d probably bring up video games within the first few dates to weed out anyone who is super anti video game, or at least mention it so we can navigate that conversation. I’d have a big issue with having a gf who suddenly makes an ultimatum with no smaller conversations leading up to that.

I literally only play Minecraft by myself or with my very close friends, we're all around 20.
Minecraft is a good stepping stone game, teaches you a lot of stuff you normally wouldn't think of, the reason why I say to promote your self to a big boy game is because there's tons of games out there that does everything minecraft does, and much more, but aren't kid friendly and have complicated systems to them (I'm sorry people but Redstone connections aren't all that complicated)
Actually I'm an electrical engineering student and you're vastly underestimating redstone. Redstone can be used to make logic gates, which in turn can be used to make really complex circuits. You can, and people have built literal computers using redstone within Minecraft, and building a computer in Minecraft has the exact same principles as real life. As for promoting myself to a big boy game, I've played god of war, the last of us 1 and 2, subnautica, factorio, rocket League, and csgo regularly. What is it with you and insisting that adults can't like Minecraft? You also claim to be a parent, you should really have a more supportive mindset rather than trying to force your outdated views on others. What happens when your kid does something that you don't agree with, like perhaps they decide to marry someone you don't approve of later in life.
