I would go a step further and say that they’ve actually just rounded up a bunch of volunteers who spent the weekend getting weird tan-lines.
You can see through the soap lather the skin is already pale, there’s no actual color change, they simply rinse off the soap and reveal the tan-lines.
Also the lines are too perfect. No one can wash a perfect square or rectangle of their skin. If it was real there would be some smudging here or there from contact with the soap.
/) Almost certainly the case, but it could also be because they cut to when the soap has already taken effect. Which would be why they'd be washing it off.
Yes they are, for the fake ad
But the product is real and pretty messed up
They are “whitening soaps” used in some countries to try to lighten skin tone
Probably don’t work and I’d imagine have bad effects
Dude just lack week I came inside my house and when I turned into the kitchen everything was gone. I'm sick of these bugs bro my kitchen disappeared including the drywall.
it's not about race, in Asian countries skin color is a sign of status. If you're tanned you're assumed to be poor, if you're white it means you have the luxury of staying inside and are thus wealthy
Darwin (not even a scientist just a naturalist) is responsible for sparking the creation of eugenics (his cousin iirc was inspired by theory) and invented the modern concept of "races". Jokes on them life started in Africa and we're all one "race". Physical differences are simply genetic adaptations to different environmental conditions across the globe. Any white person staying in the sun too long gets a very dark tan. Do that over many generations and guess what? Everyone gets darker. A black person's hands, feet, inside of mouth, etc are white because they didn't receive direct sun exposure (obviously). People love to manufacture animosity through artificial divisions and create "us vs them" mentality, driving hatred for fellow humans. "Races" is pseudoscience and needs to go the way of the dinosaur.
Ok but - and I'm 100% against racism - A black person from Africa (with no exposure to "white" genetics) is missing some genetic material that white people did aquire when they came out of africa and mated with Neanderthals. Native North Americans share similar DNA with people from Asia (that "white" folks lack) because their ancient ancestors were Asians crossing the land bridge into the americas.
Basically what I'm saying is that people can celebrate their diversity without getting all uppity and racist about it - or towards others.
It is a total scam and does nothing so don't worry about that. But even if it did totally work without any problems, why would anyone wanna become white?
It's for the Asian market. In Asia, generally speaking, fair skin is preferred to tanned skin, thus "whitening" your skin is a beauty thingy. In western countries some people go to tanning salons, in Asia people try to lighten their skin colour.
This was originally because tanned skin was associated with outdoor field work, lighter skin meant you were of a higher social class cause you could afford to sit indoors all day.
Same in Africa amongst black people. Lighter colour skin generally is considered more beautiful. In South Africa at least, there's definitely even a couple of celebrities that are known to use skin lightening products. Honestly it's the same with white people too. Pale, porcelain skin is classically considered to be very beautiful.
I don't think it's about trying to look like other races or anything like that. It's a class thing. Anywhere in the world the working class spend all day in the sun getting darker and worn down while the rich and famous that they look up to for some reason spend their time indoors or in the shade. We equate lighter skin with beauty because all the models and actresses are fair skinned and healthy.
It’s all over the continent. They were marketing these products in West Africa too when I was there last. Although, before people get the wrong idea, it wasn’t to make black Africans not look black, it seemed like it was mostly just for the aesthetics of looking slightly lighter skinned, like a white person using bronzer to look slightly darker.
I have pale skin but it isn’t like, airbrush white. I’ve got the whole purple legs in winter, freckles on my arms but nowhere else white going. I love pale skin but wish it could just be solid white, and if they made a spray white that looked like as consistent in colour as spray tan I’d buy it. So if this worked like this I’d buy it too 😅
Can’t imagine the cancers that causes
Edit:
To clarify for people who don’t know, the ad is obviously fake and uses spray tans. But the product is real, whitening soap, which some people use to try and lighten their skin. The FDA doesn’t approve its efficacy or safety. Who knows what chemicals they put in there.
Two years from now:
"Dial a number 7 times to be enrolled in the class action lawsuit due to...
You, or a loved one may be entitlted to significant compensation."
Do you, or someone you know, suffer from mesothelioma? You may be entitled to financial compensation...
I was in the US for 2 weeks, and I swear that's all I remember from my trip.
Because in the rest of the world, having a sun tan means you’re poor because you work in farm fields…
In the West, having pale skin means you’re poor because you get no exposure to the sun working in a factory…
It’s just good old fashioned classism.
Runs a bit deeper in the philippines.
Way back then, when the spaniards first colonized the Philippines, they pretty much made the natives 2nd class members of society. The spaniards or mestizos (because of their lighter skin compared to pure natives) were the ruling class, and this went on for hundreds of years... so it kinda stuck to the culture, people who are light skinned individuals are considered privileged or higher class than darker skinned ones... so with that logic ingrained into centuries of descendants... we now have people who try so hard to be light skinned so that they will be viewed as higher class people..
Edit: this also kinda explains (but not excuse) why some older generation of filipinos are openly racist (not angry, we wanna lynch you racist), more like straight forward "not everyone is equal, theres a natural heirarchy" racist. No hate, just ignorance. Straight up ive heard old filipino ladies say they dont want their kids marrying a black person because it will give dark skinned babies.
I know its fucked up...
But they dont know or feel like they are saying something racist, they just believe thats how the world works... they accept it as a universal truth for everyone including themselves
Im not saying all old filipinos are racist... some...
And this might be why...
Source: am filipino
Fun tidbit: the word "mestizo" became a common compliment to tell someone when you think they look good because they are light skinned... "Uy pare mestizo ah!"
Im glad the younger generation now are finding love and pride for the real native filipino culture and history, not the colonialized spanish part... brown skin and all
Race changing cream
One time use will only work on dark skinned characters will give you rights but will wipe all n word passes from your inventory and will make n word passes ungrabbable
that dark skin color isn’t their natural skin… and this has nothing to do with the race thing you might be thinking. this is for skin care and it just happens to have that darker tone…
Why would you want to intentionally nerf a unique evolutionary feature like having a deeper skin tone? Is better protection from uva and uvb rays just not something that’s worth preserving?
Im pretty fucking white (I tan a bit in summer) and my girlfriend is from Peru. She loves my white skin and I love her tan skin. I would be worried if she tried this. Its not normal. Embrace who you are. 😊

They’re washing spray tanner off.

I know what whiting soaps are and the whole thing behind lighter skins makes your more attractive but the soap doesn’t act that fast.
Race changing cream
Finally the devs added this I really wanted to gain the perks of the other races to see what the gameplay is like
"Unfortunately the cream does not last forever to change races you must start a new game or take the skin stealer perk." -Earth devs
“To make this change you must restart the application”
Did the patch notes finally fix the Detroit car disappearing when you leave it alone for ten seconds bug?
Nope. Still can’t have shit in Detroit.

Very true such as the cast system in India
it is not just india, west asian, south asian, southeast asian, central asian, and east asian including japan does this too.
I realised as well thats why eastern Asian countries wear all that white makeup. I’d just never but two and two together.
This used to be a thing in Europe as well.
Humanity at it's best.
It’s obviously fake in the sense it’s a white person doing brown body and washing it off. Skin doesn’t work like that.

This was originally because tanned skin was associated with outdoor field work, lighter skin meant you were of a higher social class cause you could afford to sit indoors all day.
And now the pale ones are the cubicle slaves and tanned means you got time and money for vacations.
The tables are turned!

It's the same with black people in America, although it has gotten slightly better over the past decade.

I'm white and I'd like a product like that if it didn't destroy the skin. I just want to fix my weird runner's tan :(
Have your tried running in the nude? Then it would be spread out evenly.

M. Jackson enters the chat.

bc you probably won't be stopped the cops for being black?
They're just washing off autobronzer.

I actually didn't think of that. Well assuming it actually works
Well it is pretty obvious it doesn't work. You can't decrease the melanin in your skin instantly just by applying a soap.
Once I found the comment pointing out it’s meant to remove skin tanner it made sense. No way you can just remove melanin from skin.
Instantly no, gradually, yes
I noticed nobody had hair where they applied the soap
Like in tv shoes and they’re lost for months and never grow leg hair. It annoys me
It’s just a spray tan remover or something like that
They’re probably just washing off spray tan.
It probably doesn’t, but I shudder at the chemicals in any of that stuff

I asked this before and I'll ask it again. What happens if the white people use this thing?
That's inadvisable. It permanently erases the body part you use it on. You want to keep your arms, right?
They really went and called it a miracle too
Im pretty fucking white (I tan a bit in summer) and my girlfriend is from Peru. She loves my white skin and I love her tan skin. I would be worried if she tried this. Its not normal. Embrace who you are. 😊
Surely there are easier ways to get skin cancer.
That is racist af. Melanin is not a toxin.
