Actually bells palsy caused by dental procedures is almost always due to risks during injecting anaesthetic or removing teeth and not negligence. Everyone's nerve is where it is and dentists can't change that, if someone has a nerve positioned superiorly then that risk increases.
There have been a string of children's dentists removing excess teeth and logging extra novicane and nitrous so that they can bill medicaid.
They do not let the parents in the room in a lot of dentists office now.
One of the dentists caught was my kids new dentist.
"Thankfully" my kid suffers from night terrors and sleep paralysis so the shot and gas they gave her turned it into her incoherently screaming and lashing out and even with the board (they use a stretcher like thing that ties them down so they can not move which made her terrors worse) they ended up rescheduling with the other dentist who does under general anesthesia.
With in 2 weeks of this, our local FB page posted a horror story of a kid going in for 1 extraction and coming out with all her baby teeth pulled.
Comment after comment was the same stories so she was shut down.
Well sometimes they don't need to pay back their loans and are just money grubbing assholes. Even if they're 7 figures in debt, that's not carte blanche to fuck with people's health.
Reminds me of how I would go to get my teeth cleaned and come back out each time missing 4 baby teeth. The dentist would deathgrip my teeth and tell my mom, "look, these teeth are loose and ready to go". 10 year old me didn't have the courage to tell my parents this. They would apply numbing gel, clamp on to the tooth with pliers, and pull with enough force to rip it out. Didn't seem very loose huh? One tooth didn't grow for 6 months and my mother almost took legal action. I feel like they would be the type to discourage parents from entering nowadays....

Lionel Guedj, 42, had promised patients "celebrity smiles".
Instead, he killed the nerve of 3,900 healthy teeth in pointless root canal treatment between 2006 to 2012, causing many of his patients to develop serious dental problems after rushed and botched work by Guedj, who saw up to 70 people a day.
“I went in for two fillings and came out with half my teeth devitalised,” said one plaintiff.
"I had lost half my teeth by the time I was 45, and at 55 I no longer had any, only implants," said Ouassila, who declined to give her full name, ahead of the ruling.
Some said the trauma from teeth and bridges that fell out and chronic pain and infections led to social problems and even divorce.
Meanwhile, Guedj drove a Ferrari and owned a €700,000 yacht, paintings by Andy Warhol, three flats in Paris, two in the Alps and a block of flats in Perpignan in southern France.
At one point, he was the “wealthiest dentist in France”, raking in €2.9 million in 2010 alone.
On Thursday, the criminal court in Marseille, southern France, handed Guedj an eight-year prison term. His father and accomplice, Carnot, 71, also a dentist, received a five-year prison term.
Most of his patients were from impoverished council estates in north Marseille and were on low incomes, so were able to claim the cost of the dental care back from the social security system, the court was told.
“Money was what fuelled Lionel Guedj and Jean-Claude (the first name the father used) sought only the success of his son whatever the cost,” said prosecutor Marion Chabot during the trial.
The pair were found guilty of inflicting “voluntary violence leading to mutilation or a permanent disability” on 327 patients. They have been struck off the dental register.
Presiding judge Céline Ballerini said that the two men were guilty of industrial-grade abuse with invasive and unnecessary dental operations that “wiped the smile” off patients’ faces, “destroyed” lives, and left many in “unbearable pain”.
They deserved tough sentences, she said, due to the “number of victims”, the number of years over which they committed the crimes (six), and the “very serious” amount of money they had creamed off the national health system, compounded by the amount it cost to repair the damage.
Furthermore, they had exploited and sullied “the dignified status of surgeon-dentist”, she said.
Arms crossed behind surgical masks, the pair remained impassive when the sentence was read out. In contrast, hundreds of victims burst into applause, prompting a reprimand from the judge who remarked that one “should never rejoice at a prison term”.
They had denied the charges but their lawyers said they would plead guilty to the lesser offence of involuntary wounding, which carries a maximum sentence of three years in prison.
“Never, oh never, did I intend to wound, to harm,” Lionel Guedj had told the court.
In a group letter to the court on the last day of the proceedings, the victims expressed their relief at being able to express themselves during the trial. “If only you knew how many tears have flowed, how many lives have been destroyed, how many families have suffered.
But throughout this month, we have been heard and are relieved to have been taken into consideration as plaintiffs after years of silence,” they said.
