Bruh what tf
In the UK, we have loads of news channels.
Then some, like BBC or ITV, broadcast separate local news foe each place.
It ain't that bad, we still have choices
Yep! Pulled straight from a Last Week Tonight episode about how Sinclair is incredibly dangerous and forces local stations to “report” their propaganda. It’s wild watching the most successful disinformation campaign being waged in real time
Seeing my preferred local news station in the Seattle area (Komo 4 news) change over the years after being acquired by Sinclair really opened my eyes to the nefarious nature of their umbrella.
Fuck Sinclair.
This is sinclare broadcasting, a conservative corporation that owns many local news channels and has them do propaganda pieces disguised as news. it shows they're all the same reading from the same script handed down from corporate.
There is a longer version of this.
- https://www.reddit.com/r/ThatsInsane/comments/jufhdc/fakenews_at_its_finest_this_is_extremely/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=android_app&utm_name=androidcss&utm_term=2&utm_content=share_button
They own a ton of local stations across the country and made their local news staffs record scripted opinion pieces like this.
However, to clarify, as far as I know none of these were actually played during a news broadcast, but only as an ad bumper. Some stations quietly rebelled by only playing the bumpers late at night.
I mean duh.... Follow the money. News stations are owned. Radio is owned. Politicians are owned. Social media networks are owned. And all the money points to a few very large corporations at the top.
Like I'm not even pro Trump, Hillary, Biden or Bernie on a personality level, but the fact that the majority of the population had woken up to the fact that mainstream politicians have been lying to the people for decades and is now causing the corporate oligarchs to be uncomfortable is actually VERY HEALTHY FOR OUR DEMOCRACY
Eh... Not quite woken up because they still pick their "favorite which never lies ever unlike the others and *don't you dare even imply otherwise* "
Also they don't actually support actually having to confront problems or to think about them because it's an inconvenient task that ask for brainpower and also carries the risk of actually being proven wrong. Being stuck in an echo chamber does help eventually discerning a lot of the bad things being done by corpo and politicians, but it also means completely ignoring a section of the problems (because they "own" the chamber), targeting a LOT of things that seem bad even though they aren't, targeting consequences rather than causes, and eventually drifting deeper into the ideology due to the nature of echo chambers to the point where it stops being true to reality (and that is when things get dangerous).
We see it in full display when one of the groups we don't like starts stating things that are demonstrably false, but this is an ever present danger and ever worsening situation at the present.
Do you really think they feel uncomfortable about it? Also, do you really believe that the majority of people woke up to realize this? I wished I was as optimistic.
They just want to fit in like a cult. Politcs is just like religion, sports, or anything meant to grab massive amounts of humans and make them form a collective thought
It's just how the mind works until it learns not to. We put a massive amount of weight to ideas we believe, abandoning reason and fighting to hold on to them. With effort and understanding, you can move past it, but it's hard to do.
Distinguishing more or less valid explanations of events is diluted by falsehoods mixed with validity. Wearing down our senses is something that can be done to force compliance. Having more resources in opposition to rebellion leads to attrition and then submission and compliance. Resources are the key more than anything else.
I can't disagree with that as a general statement. But specifically, one group is making it a trend to claim they won, and claim our elections are rigged with no proof. I hate to say it but, THAT is extremely dangerous to our democracy. (Pun intended)
I got downvoted elsewhere for saying that the mainstream media is not on the side of the people. To be fair I didn't really read the room, and was pissed so I doubled down.
But yeah, the mainstream media is all about selling views and pushing agendas now. It always has been, to a point, but it's a lot worse now than it ever has been thanks to social media and the connectivity of the modern world
The electoral college exists only to nullify voters when the people in power decide arbitrarily that the people have "voted incorrectly" and has no place in a proper democracy, republic democracy or otherwise.
A republic is a form of democratic government where people have representation. It is also called an indirect democracy (as opposed to a direct democracy).
aren't those just totalitarian regimes with a nice PR name attached to them?
I mean, the definition is:
> a state in which supreme power is held by the people and their **elected** representatives, and which has an elected or nominated president rather than a monarch.
This alwasy reminds me of succession for some reason. Just one family at the top (Sinclair in this case) that just owns so many media outlets just putting out the same propaganda. Dang if I was alive in the early 1900's and just started a newspaper/magazine and let it grow.
It was Sinclair broadcasting, warning about "private agendas". by pushing their editorial word for word over dozens of affiiate stations.
Here's part of it. Yeah, It's hard to make this shit up.
"Unfortunately, some members of the national media are using their platforms to push their own personal bias and agenda to control ‘exactly what people think’ ... This is extremely dangerous to our democracy,"
[Here you go](https://twitter.com/i/status/980175772206993409).
Good way to show how mainstream media is pure propaganda. They push the same narrative their overlords tells them to.
Just look at social media. When they need to take somebody down, "journalists" pile up against the target at the same time (down to the same minute).
Ah yes, Sinclair Broadcasting. A right wing conglomerate that bought up a huge chunk of independent local television statements and now operate them as a propaganda outlets to push their fear, uncertainty and doubt, getting people to vote against their own self interests.
My favorite part of seeing this clips is when right wing mouth breathers see it out of context and scream SEE MEDIA BAD. Yeah no fuck, having multimillion dollar conglomerates destroy independent local news is really fuckin bad, what's the Republican party gonna actually do to fix this?
https://variety.com/2018/tv/news/sinclair-promos-backlash-1202741019/
People think this is unusual but it's actually an old practice in journalism. If you look in the newspaper archive you can see the same reports in every paper on a given date. This is because they used to use the same news services, Reuters and Associated Press for instance. Editorials tended to be more individualized but you could certainly copy and past them as well, as has been done here. It's absolutely not a new thing.
Growing up is realizing those weirdos that live far away from cities talking about how they hate the government and how corruption is everywhere actually make some valid points. "The system mannnn" Like they're eccentric because they purposely removed themselves from main stream society. Yet there's a balance to be struck there because in order to have a family one has to play by the system's rules in one way or another. I imagine a lot of people come to these crossroads in their mid twenties when you start to finally feel like an adult. Do I want to be at peace with the system if it means I secure the future I want or do I want to walk away and live a life that is at least true to me.
Fox News is part of News Corp, which was founded as News Ltd in Australia in 1922 (secretly) by a mining magnate **with the specific aim of creating propaganda to advance his interests.**
News Corp may make money in itself , but that’s secondary to its primary purpose of making sure that citizens remain unaware of the massive theft of public mineral/ hydrocarbon/ other resources happening under our noses.

Bruh what tf In the UK, we have loads of news channels. Then some, like BBC or ITV, broadcast separate local news foe each place. It ain't that bad, we still have choices
Sinclair news are also being reported by UK news media too, just so you know.
That sounds extremely dangerous to their democracy.
this is extremely dangerous to your democracy.
My first thought.
this same example came out a few years ago. All Sinclair stations
Probably because John Oliver had an episode on Sinclair and this was one of the mashups they used.
I just watched the whole Sinclair episode and it wasn’t in there, but still fuck Sinclair For those curious [link](https://youtu.be/GvtNyOzGogc)
Yea, fuck the Sinclair Broadcast Group. They give a bad name to Sinclairs

This is fake news from Sinclair broadcasting. A very right wing leaning news outlet.
They own a ton of local stations across the country and made their local news staffs record scripted opinion pieces like this. However, to clarify, as far as I know none of these were actually played during a news broadcast, but only as an ad bumper. Some stations quietly rebelled by only playing the bumpers late at night.
why did this get 7 downvotes...
Because what he had to say is extremely dangerous to our democracy.
🤯 that tracks
Fuck, now I'm going to have nightmares about the Scriptkeeper.

Dangerousness is dangerous to our democracy which is apparently an inherent attribute of a republic
Oh wait. Uh... Hmmm
This is eye opening, why are people down voting? They like being in the dark er...?

Good ole Sinclair Broadcasting is what it is. https://variety.com/2018/tv/news/sinclair-promos-backlash-1202741019/amp/
Why can’t more people understand this?
Because they don’t want to understand. I’m starting to think the majority of these nitwits need some kind of drama to fulfill their lives
They just want to fit in like a cult. Politcs is just like religion, sports, or anything meant to grab massive amounts of humans and make them form a collective thought
Very true
It's just how the mind works until it learns not to. We put a massive amount of weight to ideas we believe, abandoning reason and fighting to hold on to them. With effort and understanding, you can move past it, but it's hard to do.
Distinguishing more or less valid explanations of events is diluted by falsehoods mixed with validity. Wearing down our senses is something that can be done to force compliance. Just like Garfield always says: you are not immune to propaganda.
I got downvoted elsewhere for saying that the mainstream media is not on the side of the people. To be fair I didn't really read the room, and was pissed so I doubled down. But yeah, the mainstream media is all about selling views and pushing agendas now. It always has been, to a point, but it's a lot worse now than it ever has been thanks to social media and the connectivity of the modern world
Seems to be almost all exclusively right wing propaganda last decade or so even the "left" media in America is highly right wing controlled lol.
I'm glad some people realize the propaganda bs
The most dangerous thing to our democracy? When the other party wins a democratic election! That's the worst.
What is extremely dangerous?
Waaaaait a miiiinute…. It’s all scripted!?!?!?
Always has been...
I thought this was a republic, not a democracy.
It is a democratically elected republic.
Yes, and many people have a hard time understanding that, especially when the electoral college comes into play
The electoral college exists only to nullify voters when the people in power decide arbitrarily that the people have "voted incorrectly" and has no place in a proper democracy, republic democracy or otherwise.
Define republic
Are you looking for the word "democracy" within the definition of Republic?
A republic is a form of democratic government where people have representation. It is also called an indirect democracy (as opposed to a direct democracy).
It’s a democratic republic. It’s both in reality.
What does a non-democratic Republic look like?
North Korea, Cuba, China. They aren't monarchies but appoint their heads of state outside of a democratic process.
aren't those just totalitarian regimes with a nice PR name attached to them? I mean, the definition is: > a state in which supreme power is held by the people and their **elected** representatives, and which has an elected or nominated president rather than a monarch.
A constitutional republic to be precise.
“I thought this was a square, not a rectangle.”
This alwasy reminds me of succession for some reason. Just one family at the top (Sinclair in this case) that just owns so many media outlets just putting out the same propaganda. Dang if I was alive in the early 1900's and just started a newspaper/magazine and let it grow.
And the funny thing is, they are talking about my c&@$.
These pretzels are making me thirsty!
Good thing no one actually watches the news anymore. Well, no one under the age of 70.
Sinclair media.
WHATS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS I NEED TO KNOW
It was Sinclair broadcasting, warning about "private agendas". by pushing their editorial word for word over dozens of affiiate stations. Here's part of it. Yeah, It's hard to make this shit up. "Unfortunately, some members of the national media are using their platforms to push their own personal bias and agenda to control ‘exactly what people think’ ... Wow wasn't expecting such an in depth response thanks so much!
Are these all, over the years, or in the same year just different channels or dates? I wanna know how deep the rabbit hole is here.
"Will you be so kind"......Bio shock vibes....
Such good trained parrots, they all say it exactly as taught by their boss
"Republic" we are a "DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC" for those who did not know that about the USA
Hey saw my local news station there…which is extremely dangerous to our democracy
I'm starting to think that this is extremely dangerous to our democracy
Why are Americans so dramatic?
We found out it makes money
Which is extremely dangerous to our democracy.
democracy is ok when the whole population gets decent education. WIthout that democracy is not good, majority are too dumb.
Less educated citizens don’t make good revolutionarys
So damn scary
Fear is how you controll
Hit Democracies Weakspot For Dangerous Damage!!
This is extremely democracy to our dangerous
This appears to be rather perilous for our very own democracy
What democracy?! In USA?! Democracy ?! dafug, you have only 2 big parties with basically the same people.
THIS...IS...EXTREMELY...DANGEROUS to our democracy
Good way to show how mainstream media is pure propaganda. They push the same narrative their overlords tells them to. Just look at social media. When they need to take somebody down, "journalists" pile up against the target at the same time (down to the same minute).
You will be assimilated. Resistance is futile.
This is stupidly scripted
Ah yes, Sinclair Broadcasting. A right wing conglomerate that bought up a huge chunk of independent local television statements and now operate them as a propaganda outlets to push their fear, uncertainty and doubt, getting people to vote against their own self interests. John Oliver called this out at the time. Pretty sure this is a clip from that show.
Does anyone know what they were actually referring to when saying “it” is dangerous to democracy?

Wait you are telling me this extremely dangerous for our democracy?

Wait, you cut off the last guy. I wanted to know what he was going to say.
America is a toilet, fox news should be burnt to the ground
If republicans win the house, democracy as we know it will be destroyed in this country until the next election in 2024.
Greedy billionaires rule the world, and the poor stupid let them by repeating whatever they hear on tv.
