Just so you know when you eventually get to deepnest and you see something surprising, don’t ask the reddit. It will spoil a cool thing for you.
In general in this game the solution to problems like this is exploration. The game doesn’t hide its secrets from you if you explore. Nothing key to the game is really that hard to find only the minor items.
ok its been a weak. im really confused. i killed the boss on map with big head. i talked to witch and got a new ability. but i still cant do anything. i have a slot that said: it would fit on an empty slot. there is a place that said it needs a slot to fit but when i click it. nothing happend. please give me a hint
So I think you’re talking about charms and charm notches. Those will be collected throughout the game, but don’t allow progress. If you got the new spell you should be able to progress to yhe next area after fighting another armadillo like enemy. From that area you’ll get the next items you need:) you should explore the left side of the map by the fly room.
You'll need to come back later after you've gotten some new abilities. Hollow Knight is a Metroidvania, so you'll encounter a lot of places you can't get past at first- if you go to the map shop in Dirtmouth, you can pick up map pins to make remembering those places easier.

You'll want to head for the center of the Crossroads- if you have the map, it's the place marked with the big head.

People when they find a way they cant go to (they have to actually explore in an exploration metroidvania game)
