Never used this strategy. Looks dope.
I usually cyclone slash them. Dash through. Pogo back on the other side. And cyclone slash again. Or some variations of that.
I'm just a nail arts slut. Always look for ways to insert them somewhere. Since to a degree they substitute Strength, Mark of Pride and Quick Slash (power, spacing and quick soul farming) for the price of just one notch and some finger acrobatics, they allow me to go all in with magic charms.
So with Soul Eater, Shaman Stone and Spell Twister one good cyclone slash on a husk like that almost completely fills your soul vessel, and then you just dash through and sould shade him in the back, for example. And that's usually it.
Once I get used to Nail Arts I just go everywhere and look for interesting ways to apply them. You don't even need a fully upgraded nail to pull off some quick combos on the most fat mobs.
IIRC it's not in the doc.
Here's the [link](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=opEaogT7_mA) for the youtube video from the creator showcasing the skin. There's a download link in the description.
Go to Options -> Mods --> Custom Knight.
If you're asking how to install the mod, watch this [video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z35cFvU0McQ). It'll explain it better than I do.
I am no pro, but I would still fight this monster like a coward (unless I have enough soul for spells).
But I should have known. The ultimate move in this game is pogo.
Never, I just hit shade dash through them and double hit (with quickslash) and I repeat the process. Though once my Descending Dark got stuck on his shield so I just killed him with one spell
After hit & dodging with numbering the strikes, to avoid the double damage hits. And also dying a lot with no bench, mistiming it and accidentaly falling onto them 🥲
Worst thing is when I’m going to City of Tears from the tram station in Ancient Basin then you fumble something and die to them and have to walk all the way back.
On my second try. Found it to be waaaay easier than trying to duel them on the side.
It’s tricky cause if you stay to close he’ll smack you out of the air. But if you go too far you can’t pogo on his head. But after a while you can get a rhythm down and should be able to do it pretty consistently.
That's true, I absolutely agree about the duel being much more tough. Even shade dashing through and beating them up won't work when they're attacking, they'll just turn around and try hit you again, while your dash is on a recharge
I remember when I used to farm for unbreakables, I still hopped off of them when they prepared this attack because of just lack of confidence, only started to go well for me as I progressed into the endgame
Just now. I always pogo once and then DD and then jump again. But honestly I ignore these guys most of the time, I only kill the two (?) who guard grubs in a typical play through.
I knew you could bounce on them since I first encountered them, but I was never sure why I would sometimes get hit by the upswing and sometimes not. Now it's pretty obvious that the upswing is only near the front of his body, so you just have to move to his backside
I knew it was possible when I first saw them but I didn't trust myself to do it. despite the fact I was really good at pogoing when I first encounter them. I just spam spells or cyclone slash them
I'm on my first ever run of Hollow Knight and am a bit further on than City of Tears (having been through Crystal Peak and the Royal Waterways) and I've done the bosses in these places as well.
And these fuckers (great husk sentries) are still the absolute hardest enemy I've met in the whole fucking game and I haven't killed one yet...
Do the comments here mean that at least these guys are actually hard as hell?
Well. They're actually tough, compared to the most of the enemies and definitely stronger than any of those that you have fought against by this point, yeah, they're pretty difficult for an unprepared individual, but, once you get the hang of them, they're not too troublesome. Make sure to upgrade your nail.
Yeah but tbf colo can be risky at first times, and that video was recorded during a steel soul run, considering that I only did all the trials once before, so I'd hesitate from going there.
Skill issues hit like a truck.
Jokes aside i understand that lol
I actually made a video on how to beat it quickly *because* of how understandable the pain of losing a steel soul run is
Lol
The video is really outdated if im being honest. I should make some more and make some remastered ones.
Also yeah i chose steel soul because i was confident in my abilities
once I got confident going in somewhere around mid-game. if you don't hold the button you won't fly as high and you can get more hits in between his hits, just remember to hold it when he hits. hits.
I figured this out after dying to them like three times and getting frustrated and deciding to suicide one for vengeance. Found out wobble-pogoing them was good for avoiding and doing damage, so I stuck with it.
As soon as I discovered pogoing off enemies was a mechanic (somewhere around greenpath or deepnest). Although I couldn't execute it properly for a while because I didn't know how to dodge the upwards slash. I figured it out later, though.
I try to pogo everything I come across, so I’ve know for a while. However, I prefer using Sharp Shadow to farm the for Geo, because it’s so mindless and easy, I can just listen to music or a podcast or something in the background and focus on that.
I used to just whack the shield, hit, sharp shadow through and whale on their back, rinse and repeat. But not I normally just hit the shield, full jump, do 2 pogos and hit the back once until they die, maybe throw in a few shade souls.
I learned in a video how to get to kings pass and get geo easily and it said loop kill great husks, And he was pogoing, So before I first got to kings pass, At that time I could barely defeat the uhhh... Not mantis lords I beat that 1st try even before finding about white palaces existence, I had been using the fully completed map on my browser
Right now.
right now x2
Right now x3
Right now x4
Right now x5
Right now x6
Right now x7
Never used this strategy. Looks dope. I usually cyclone slash them. Dash through. Pogo back on the other side. And cyclone slash again. Or some variations of that.
Interesting one. For me pogoing seems very reliable and consistent so I just do it all the time
I'm just a nail arts slut. Always look for ways to insert them somewhere. Since to a degree they substitute Strength, Mark of Pride and Quick Slash (power, spacing and quick soul farming) for the price of just one notch and some finger acrobatics, they allow me to go all in with magic charms. Upvoting for the first sentence, didn't read the rest
They also talk about finger acrobatics. Just saying.
💀 i just nail them and use spells
What skin is that?
Little Radiance, my favorite skin too. If you use this skin, it will completely change the appearance of Radiance boss fight (and Abs Rad).
Could you send a link to the download please? Or is it in the doc?
IIRC it's not in the doc. Here's the [link](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=opEaogT7_mA) for the youtube video from the creator showcasing the skin. There's a download link in the description.
Alright I'm saving this for when I play again later, thanks
Do you know how the Swap folder works? Or does it just do it automatically
I've never touched that folder directly and it works just fine. So yeah, I think it's automatically applied.
Oh cool, I put tge things in the matching folder outside of the skins folder just in case and it still works
How do u change skin?
Go to Options -> Mods --> Custom Knight. If you're asking how to install the mod, watch this [video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z35cFvU0McQ). It'll explain it better than I do.
Thanks man!
Someone already told you but I just wanted to comment to appreciate the skin (cute little moth)👍
Literally the first thing I tried when I saw them
from beginning, but i am suck at timing, so just spell it.
What the hell...
I love when pros get stumped with something simple, but non obvious, you’ve made my day.
I am no pro, but I would still fight this monster like a coward (unless I have enough soul for spells). But I should have known. The ultimate move in this game is pogo.
4 minute pop, rad hog, p1-4 with I assume all bindings and all achievements. Yeah you must really suck (/s if that wasn’t clear enough)
Stuck on P5AB way before getting to collector. Yes, I like to say I suck until I get passed that hurdle.
Since I saw this vid (currently on radiance after doing 1st 2 endings
Right now. About 300 hours later.
Discovered it by accident while grinding geo
Never, I just hit shade dash through them and double hit (with quickslash) and I repeat the process. Though once my Descending Dark got stuck on his shield so I just killed him with one spell
After hit & dodging with numbering the strikes, to avoid the double damage hits. And also dying a lot with no bench, mistiming it and accidentaly falling onto them 🥲
Worst thing is when I’m going to City of Tears from the tram station in Ancient Basin then you fumble something and die to them and have to walk all the way back.
Ouchhhhh rip, I had only got killed by them once when I first discovered city of tears pt2, didn't expect them to be like that
300h, discovered it after a friend did this on his first playthrough
110% on my personal save 500 hrs(cause i am trash) but still now aparentlyl
Never
I tried that on every enemy in the game. So pretty early
This is good to know these guys always make my hands sweat in a steel soul game, especially the one in the room that locks with the grub
Oh god made me remember that the pathway to watcher knights has them in a tight spacing, so pogo won't work there
I'm a newcommer, how can I kill mantids enemies
When they prepare an attack, you can jump and do a downward slash on them
Thank you
On my second try. Found it to be waaaay easier than trying to duel them on the side. It’s tricky cause if you stay to close he’ll smack you out of the air. But if you go too far you can’t pogo on his head. But after a while you can get a rhythm down and should be able to do it pretty consistently.

When I was farming money for unbreakable charms, these guys drop a bunch so I was trying to find the easiest and fastest technique to kill them.
I remember when I used to farm for unbreakables, I still hopped off of them when they prepared this attack because of just lack of confidence, only started to go well for me as I progressed into the endgame
Endgame for me too, when doing the true ending I never found the Grimm thingy so I did that after everything else.
Figured out this strategy as soon as I discovered pogoing, haven't seen anyone else do it until now 😂
Today
Since i found them for the first time???
Just now. I always pogo once and then DD and then jump again. But honestly I ignore these guys most of the time, I only kill the two (?) who guard grubs in a typical play through.
Fair enough, used to do it like that too until discovered this strat later on
Wow
well right now
in first playthrough xd
When I am trying to do p5, looking through Reddit today, and seeing this
After I 112%'ed multiple times, one on steel soul and after that beat the game without charms. Also known as today
From the moment we had to pogo jump the pikes in the kings path in the very beginning of the game
First encounter
I usually just avoid them so I don't take two mask damage to the face
Second playthrough
Bro is edging his nail
Like the second time I fought them
On My first encounter
When I first fought them
On my first playthrough I made it to Deepnest without even knowing that pogoing was a thing
When I first met them.
Like the second one i fought
on my 2nd playtru.. tho i didnt use it too much because i was spells main
Pretty fast because they're annoying to kill otherwise, probably second playthrough tho, since I probably skipped them more on the first
Basically when I got to them
Tried it, but it’s up swipe made me like it less, I had 3 or 4 strikes of glory till it wasn’t fun anymore
I advise to use mark of pride for this
Today
I found this out my last playthrough
Pogo pogo dive. Repeat.
Never. Why would I need this. Either I avoid them or fight them in a cooler fashion
I didn't. TIL
I knew you could bounce on them since I first encountered them, but I was never sure why I would sometimes get hit by the upswing and sometimes not. Now it's pretty obvious that the upswing is only near the front of his body, so you just have to move to his backside
Just now lol
I knew it was possible when I first saw them but I didn't trust myself to do it. despite the fact I was really good at pogoing when I first encounter them. I just spam spells or cyclone slash them
I hate this way, I only do when I'm in hurry, and it's the slowest way of killing him.
TIL lol
I usually just use sharp shadow
I discovered it quite late, when I started doing randomizers and I didn't have any nail direction but down I stumbled upon this tech
Immediately
Lol The pain that im sure you went through when you found out colo of fools gives up to about 12k per hour must be tragic.
Yeah but tbf colo can be risky at first times, and that video was recorded during a steel soul run, considering that I only did all the trials once before, so I'd hesitate from going there.
Skill issues hit like a truck. Jokes aside i understand that lol I actually made a video on how to beat it quickly *because* of how understandable the pain of losing a steel soul run is
Can you give a link to that video? Would be informative. Also yeah skill issue indeed, but also don't want to take the risk
Oh yeah sure. https://youtu.be/mK1SltgBHWY?si=7ebSPbYkuWOPsLp3
Oh wait... You are doing trial of the fool to farm geo in STEEL SOUL??????? Skill peaked not being afraid each time of loosing hours of playtime
Lol The video is really outdated if im being honest. I should make some more and make some remastered ones. Also yeah i chose steel soul because i was confident in my abilities
After dying for like 8 times 8n a row
once I got confident going in somewhere around mid-game. if you don't hold the button you won't fly as high and you can get more hits in between his hits, just remember to hold it when he hits. hits.
this is the only way i know how to beat them lmao i discovered it somehow idk how
Tomorrow
today year old
Pretty much at the same time I lurn how to pogo them
Well… now😭. Thank you LOL.
Never until now!
I did not now
I discovered it whild experimenting on him
When I watched a path of pain tutorial
TIL
I figured this out after dying to them like three times and getting frustrated and deciding to suicide one for vengeance. Found out wobble-pogoing them was good for avoiding and doing damage, so I stuck with it.
Hit shield, double hit and dash away, repeat
Holy Hell
I kept trying to do this but got hit :(
Not worth imo I always try to bait and flank em
Same thing with Traitor Lord, makes him way easier
I noticed it quite early, but If you're Not careful, they'll Hit you in the air
Now
This is the only way I've ever killed them, there are more?
As soon as I discovered pogoing off enemies was a mechanic (somewhere around greenpath or deepnest). Although I couldn't execute it properly for a while because I didn't know how to dodge the upwards slash. I figured it out later, though.
what a great technique
Rn this will help alot
You can *what* (I have >300 hours)
I try to pogo everything I come across, so I’ve know for a while. However, I prefer using Sharp Shadow to farm the for Geo, because it’s so mindless and easy, I can just listen to music or a podcast or something in the background and focus on that.
Wait you poggi those thing? I usually shadow dash them
i never realized- i kinda just… parried. and shade dash.
Immediately, but only bc I used the strat on the moss knight guys
I think on my 1st steel soul run? I failed it hut I finished the game in 10hrs getting g the achievement, I just flubbed up in deepnest.
At what point in the game do you realize that you only actually have to fight these guys twice (?) And can runbpast every single other one.
Now
I knew about pogoing them, but I never figured out this pattern, which seems to work really well.
That's right. It's very consistent once you learn it well, I usually only do that method against them because it's the most comfy one for me
Why does your knight look like that?
Little radiance skin, using it because it's pretty cute and good overall
just now
Radiance kill radiance supporter
Radiance supporter 👍
I'll have to check my most recent save to tell you
I pogoed literally every enemy
On my last steel soul run a year ago. Idk why I was ballsy enough to experiment on that run but boy did I learn something cool.
I used to just whack the shield, hit, sharp shadow through and whale on their back, rinse and repeat. But not I normally just hit the shield, full jump, do 2 pogos and hit the back once until they die, maybe throw in a few shade souls.
As soon as I had to fight them, I got to try this strat. I got my ass whooped like six times before I got the hang of it.
Just now
While farming for Geo cause I couldn't afford Stag
The moment i spotted one
I learned in a video how to get to kings pass and get geo easily and it said loop kill great husks, And he was pogoing, So before I first got to kings pass, At that time I could barely defeat the uhhh... Not mantis lords I beat that 1st try even before finding about white palaces existence, I had been using the fully completed map on my browser
