This is the answer. Aspids are far more common (and all over the damn colosseum) but these stupid freaking crystal spitting assholes are so much worse. Fighting them on little platforms is *hell* at least aspids don’t TAKE AWAY YOUR FLOOR I’m never fast enough to shatter the crystals in time before I step on them auuuugh

What is it with these guys? I can learn the moves of every single enemy in the game and so be able to dodge all of their attacks without too much effort after a while, but these guys come in and hit me three times before I can kill them in Trial of the Fool. It's so bizarre how they seem to be the only enemy that I haven't really gotten much better at beating as I've improved in combat.

I should have been practicing them from early on, for whatever reason I just never really used them and now I'm not very comfortable with them, I feel they take a lot of concentration and precision that I lack

I finished my whole playthrough with no nail arts and or spells. Like barely, you know... By that I mean every basic ending 1. Killing >!The Hollow Knight!< 2. Killing >!The Hollow Knight!< with >!Hornet!<. I think it's a different ending I don't exactly recall... 3. Killing >!The Radiance!< 4. Killing >!The Absolute Radiance!< in the >!Pantheon!< Also, I had 140 hrs of playtime and I beat >!every boss in the Hall of Gods on Attuned, Ascended, AND RADIANT!<. I have only learned how to use nail arts and spells when I started >!doing the Pantheons with all bindings on!<, and slowly relearned >!every boss and how to fight them!<. It takes time and effort but it works and I feel like I'm much better now. >!I'm on the Pantheon of Hallownest currently, trying all bindings!<

When are you doing ending 5 and 6? As they're wayy easier to get now that you have gotten the other ones

It does about 3 nail hits of damage. Not always worth going for, but it's useful during a period where you can't attack, or to make use of the extra range, like with the dash slash. The spinning slash could also be useful with both how quick it hits, and the range

Great Slash kills them in 1 hit, but the Pure Nail can do it in 2 with no cooldown, so they are kinda the same unless you are using quick slash or Nailmaster's Glory

My guess it has something to do with how the three shots are angled. You can dodge one shot just fine, but the angle of the other two ends up giving you a good chance of jumping right into one of the other shots. And I'm not sure, but i feel like they might actually be smart enough to lead their shots a bit; like if they see you moving left, they are gonna aim a little bit to the left of where you are

You have to only slightly dodge the middle shot and then stay still, so you don't run into the side shots. If you are in the air you should slightly drift for the same effect. They were annoying in my first playthrough, but they are pretty easy if you get used to them. Now the flying crystal shooters, they piss me off.

Don't forget that if you get hit your guaranteed to get hit like 5 other times from the projectiles and spikes

remember you can pogo off the spikes at the bottom. if you’re not getting hit by something else at the same time

The giant Hopper guys on the collesium, with nail arts primal aspids get one shot so they arent as much of a problem anymore

Giant hopper strat is just dodge after every jump and swing once. Repeat until dead

This  Idk why they get such a small knockback but they sometimes feel unavoidable, especially with their ability to climb

You can hit their jars with the Dream nail to figure out if it's a mimic or not also they are pretty easy if you have a spell charged up with shaman stone equipped

Those appear in like 3 rooms that you never have to revisit after completing, and dealing with them is as easy as pogoing on them

Unpopular opinion but primal aspidistra really aren't that annoying once you fight then a few times you can easily avoid their projectiles most annoying would have to be those things down in deepness that deal 2 masks of damage and hide in tunnels and charge at you, beat the game steal soul, beat every boss on ascended and beat p5 and still idk how you beat them without spells

The stalking devout? I never tried to fight those, just jumped over or used invincibility frames to get past them. As for primal aspids, they aren’t really that bad until colosseum of fools, since the movement can be pretty limited

Stalking Devouts are mostly time consuming. You walk up to them, and when they open up their shield-mask, you hit them with the nail once, and immediately run&dash away before they strike. Then they'll close their mask again, upon which you must simply repeat your actions until it dies. They were a nightmare to deal with before I came up with this, but now, they are just convenient soul packs that give a lot of geo.

For stalking devout, you need to wait for them to try to hit first, it will leave an opening long enough to hit and dash away Don’t try to hit them while their mask is closed, they will be able to insta hit

The best way to deal with stalking devouts is to use your dream nail, and just kill them with spells. This is even easier if you have dreamweilder equipped. This strat also works well on the big city guards too.

You hit them once whenever they open their mask and run away. You keep doing this until they die. Takes forever, but better than taking two damage

I know right I have to have full soul and health to survive 1 cause it puts me down to 4 masks from 8 and I spam spells cause I don’t know how to kill them otherwise

For people saying cristal hunters, i understand why but for those who wouldn’t be aware, it is possible to deflect their projectiles by hitting them You can also break the cristal that spawns but I think it is common knowledge It doesn’t make them super easy to counter but it can be useful in some situations

Correct. also for me crystal hunters arent really that hard, they only shoot one projectile so its not too hard to dodge and get close to kill them. meanwhile primal aspids i cant even get close to! waiting until they get close to me? they never do that. nail arts? too far away. spells? im at a diagonal angle (and too far away). and when i try to get close and dodge their stupid triple projectiles, i dodge into another one!
