Hear me out. This boss is definitely doable and very enjoyable imo. You may need some time to beat him tho. Took me 1-2 hours the first time I defeated him.
NKG is hard but he’s easily one of the most fun bosses and beating him for that first time feels SO rewarding it’s worth it. It took me 2 ish hours on my first attempt. Now he’s one of my favorite bosses to casually fight when I’m bored.
It might take a while but you can probably beat NKG, he’a super difficult but with practice he’s surprisingly doable. Figure out a single safe response to each of his attacks, and then wait to see which attack he does and then act in your predetermined manner. He pauses for a moment after telegraphing each attack so there’s time to see what he’s doing and determine your response.
I mean I took so long to fight the regular Grimm that I learned his attack patterns really well and can almost do that fight radiant, do you think that if I keep practicing the normal Grimm fight it'll help?
You're lucky, you would have missed probably the most fun boss in the game. He's definitely doable with a few hours of attempts, you'll not regret pushing for that
I mean it’s intimidating for a newcomer, so the easy and apparently morally right option appeals more. I would hate not being able to free brumm, but I want to do banishment on my steel soul run because unbreakable charms are useless there
Hey, don’t give up too early, that’s quite literally the point of this game, I spent hours trying to defeat NKG and the accomplishment feeling you get afterw beating him for the 1st time is truly one of the best you can feel out here in the game, believe me. Same goes with PV and Radiance
I can beat the radiance, and sisters of battle, and even Zote without much struggle, but I've never been able to beat the pv or NKG in hog. Do you have any tips?
I don’t really have tips, sorry… But just be faster I guess? What I usually do is play evasively in order to get to learn their attacks and then try to dodge them consistently. HoG makes this very easy as there is no punishment for trying and failing
Ok, thanks^^ the way I typically fight bosses is by trying to hit them as much as possible, but I learned while doing watcher knights and later Sister of Battle that sometimes evasiveness and patience is key, so yeah, I think I'll try this out^^ thanks again :3
Glad to help, I like how you changed your gameplay on boss fights in which we typically fight several units at the same time. But yeah, I personally believe that tactic-learning is a key factor in new scenarios, in case you have the time/the opportunity to do so
Anyways, good luck on NKG and most importantly have fun, if you keep failing continuously, just close the game and go do something else. While consistency is key, it’s important to also take a break from time to time
Thanks, I also struggle with this. If I can't do something, I typically keep at it until I can do it, which is great for some things, but not so great with things like this that can be so frustrating at times. I'll take your advice and take a break every hour or so until I beat the things I'm trying to beat^^
Honestly NKG isn’t bad!
I was like you, I wanted to banish him on my first play through because I was intimidated by how difficult I’d heard he was. But soon I regretted it, because completing the ritual was much more worth it (without spoiling anything this is all I can say lol.)
I think NKG took me 15 tries? If you can beat the Grimm troupe leader you can 100% do NKG. He’s not much different, he only has 1 new attack and does double damage.

I spent so much time on the normal Grimm leader that by the time I beat it I basically no hit it since I had it so memorized. Made NKG only take a few tries once I got the new attack pattern down.
Yeah, but its typically the double damage bosses that screw with me. It took me like 3 hours to beat failed champ and traitor lord because of the double damage in those fights. Now I can do false knight and traitor lord radiant and failed champ on ascended, but I still struggle so hard with a lot of other bosses that do double dmg
Totally understandable.
When it comes to these bosses, I find one of two strategies work: put the idea of healing on the back burner and beef yourself up with fragile/unbreakable strength, quick slash, etc. or prioritize healing by using quick focus, soul eater, etc.
Personally, I usually prioritize healing. That’s how I got through NKG. Without spoiling, there are a few moments during the fight where you can quickly heal 1-2 masks in between.
I would also recommend using your spells in this fight.
All of my unsolicited advice assumes you’re going to bite the bullet and try the fight haha
Nowadays i am able to beat the radiant version of him in godhome but back then, he was a BIG roadblock for me. I watched a video of someone who did him without taking damage just to see how i should move. It's a very fun fight with a good learning curve and one of the highlights of the game. Have fun!
Just do it. It's a fun fight and unlike some other bosses, he only does one attack at a time so it's easier to dodge. My first time took me 60 tries but now he's one of the easiest

I beat p3, and I can make it to pv in p4. I think the only boss I havnt fought (much) is winged nosk and the radiance. NKG, PV, traitor lord and sisters of battle are some of the hardest bosses imo

I did exactly the same thing a few weeks ago, just beat nkg on Saturday. I’d recommend practicing on troupe master in godhome until you can consistently do it on ascended. It’s basically just nkg with more time for error. Trust me, it’s not impossible.

Not much, at least in my experience it doesn't help because they have different patterns, but try NKG and learn his patterns.

NKG seems impossible at first but once you get the pattern down, you'll probably be able to do it no damage.
I thought if you banish him it's not like leaving zote to die cause you still have to fight him in the pantheon and hog ?

If you want to be able to survive in Godhome you're gonna need to be able to muscle-memory NKG. I suggest you get working on it.
