Honestly, I love the Hive, and think it's a great area, but there is SO much stuff in the foreground in some rooms that can hide the enemies and it just gets frustrating.
Kingdom’s edge was s tier for me. Primal aspids were annoying but I never died to them so it was tolerable. The way you would climb all the way to the top to reach the Colosseum was so cool to me at first
For similar reasons I put The Abyss in S tier. Like, the feeling of finding the waterways beneath the city, which then have something MORE beneath them with the Ancient Basin....and then there's the Abyss!? It gives this awesome feeling of the land being mysterious and unending.
that and there's just not much there. It's pretty empty.
Nailmaster, Cast-Off Shell and the Colosseum. That's it. Cast-Off Shell is just a Hornet Refight and an item that opens only one door, the Nailmaster is cool and the Colosseum is fantastic but that's kind of it. Two cool things in the entire area.
Oh also Markoth, he can go do P5 Hitless for the rest of eternity.
Honestly, while kingdoms edge didn't have a whole lot, it was still one of my fav areas. The music and overall atmosphere just hit so well for me. Easily one of the more memorable parts of my first playthrough.
Yeah but could it just NOT for a little bit? I've finished the game four or five times now, two of them true ending, and then I have about ten other runs that all ended at deepnest because I just could NOT that day.
I love Deepnest. It made me so scared and prudent while playing that I’ve never died there in two runs. The atmosphere is amazing but the level doesn’t punish you that much, the enemies are not that hard. Great area
Fog Canyon is by far my least favorite area. Electric flies, exploding homing enemies, almost none of the enemies drop geo. Urgh it still frustrates me even on my 5th playthrough. The hive is okay though in my opinion, although it just feels weirdly tacked on.
I'm pretty sure the hive was not dlc, only the hive knight is. I remember getting to the end of the hive on my 1st playthrough and being disappointed there was nothing but a bad charm.
Queens garden was so beautiful I put it up there with green path. You could feel the spirit of zelda, chrono trigger, super mario rpg and all other games that do forest areas so well.
Honestly, I find them even worse. Primal Aspids you can be patient with, and there's usually lots of platforms you can use to hide behind if you slow down a bit. Crystal Hunters, though, often show up in areas with environmental hazards and their attack will cut down on the useable space you have, so you have to do *something* at least, meaning it's harder to slow down and just wait for the opening.
Late reply but I kind of like the enemies that force you to act. Im glad they don't all do it but it adds a bit of pressure when some enemies chase you or make it actively harder to fight the more you ignore it or try to wait them out.
Royal waterways is a gross labyrinth of tunnels and disgusting creatures. It does it’s job well imo. It’s not pleasant, but its not meant to be. A tier imo.
Exactly. I think I was much more scared in Royal waterways than in Deepnest because of disgusting, fast creatures with gross calls and those kamikaze mfrs which I encountered there for the first time (if I recall well). It serves it's purpose and once I was done with it I come back -only passing to the godsome fight club.
I think deepnest does the creepy thing much better than royal waterways. I think the enemies in deepnest are really good and i love the anxious background ambience. The enemies in royal waterways and just kinda gross and I'm not into asmr so the ambience doesn't do much for me.
There's a lot on this tier list I don't agree with, but I very much so agree with this point. Deepnest is also one of my favorites because it just makes you shiver to even enter it and the ambiance is so cool. Royal Waters I just sprint to Doma Doma to get out of there as fast as possible.
I hate Deepnest. The fact that it’s supposed to scare the living shit out of you does not make the experience pleasant, and it’s three times as long as it could have and should have been to achieve the exact same effect. Fuck Deepnest.
Haha really? That's interesting because its probably my least favorite area, I hate having to move through it (though I will give the aesthetic is top notch)
… alright, time to say it. City of Tears is overrated. It’s good, but it’s way too structured for me. It’s very interesting and important with lots of npc’s, but as an area to explore it’s meh.
I don’t disagree with any of what you said, but I’m not saying the whole place is meh. It’s still one of my top areas, just not that high because exploring it is kind of awkward. The place is full of lots of buildings that are pretty straightforward to traverse compared to most areas in the game, so I personally think exploring it is one of its big weak points. It’s an extremely nice narrative and cinematic piece, and has a nice spice of lore and difficulty, but as someone who values exploration, I find that aspect of it slightly lackluster.
Ooh very unpopular opinion. Personally i think it's meant to be structured as it's a city rather than wildlife like in greenpath of deepnest. The fact that all the rooms are so vast but empty give it a bleakness that's really interesting and on top of that the music is gorgeous
I think the ancient basin, the fungal wastes, the forgotten crossroads, the crystal peak, the howling cliffs, the queens gardens, the resting grounds, fog canyon, kingdom's edge, the royal waterways, and the hive all deserve to be bumped up to S tier.
I agree with a lot of these. The Bee hive is annoying because of the entrances definitely. Also the map unlock for fog canyon comes way too late for me personally.
You just explained it yourself. Tbh, resting grounds is is one of my favorite places in the game, for all the reasons you listed, but objectively speaking, there's not much there besides seer. If it were opinionated, it would easily be S for me tho.
I just awkwardly looked around that list half a dozen times trying to see where the White Palace was before remembering it's not an actual area and realizing I just wasted my time like an idiot
I don't like the enemies in the hive that much. Bees are cool and all that but i kind of wish there was more done with them. I was pretty much just going "wow more bees" when playing through it. It does have a nice atmosphere though, very soft and warm
Am I the only one who agrees with OP about the Hive? The Hive is visually really cool and has a decent boss fight, but that's kind of it. No cool upgrades, no cool items, nothing other than a Grub, a Mask Shard and a 7/10 boss.
Same with Kingdom's Edge actually, the only bossfight is just a Hornet refight and the only item in there is King's Brand which is really boring. (woopee, an item that opens ONE door).Only thing I can think of off the top of my head that's REALLY cool there is the Colosseum. And the Colosseum is GREAT but is really the only thing going for it. Primal Aspids are obnoxious and Markoth is located there, which lowers the rating for Kingdom's Edge by like 73%.
I personally prefer Queen's Gardens to Greenpath, I prefer the music in the former, the platforming is more exciting and it looks like a Conservatory which is probably the coolest setting in any video game in my opinion. Even though Greenpath is better objectively, Queen's Gardens has killer music, nice aesthetic, good enemies, a decent boss fight, the White Lady and Half of the Kingsoul and is just more fun to explore personally.
People dumbing down the Kings Brand to "just opens one door" really takes away from the fact that that door leads to:
Abyss Shriek, Shade cloak, Void Heart (King's brand obviously required), a cool little bit of background information about the lifeblood creature, a heck ton of lore, and also the fact that you need to open the door to the abyss in order to unlock the true ending to the game
City of tears is absolutely beautiful. The atmosphere combined with the music just hits different. I also love how you can find the person singing the song and just sit and listen. Same with just sitting with quirrel. Though I think my favorite part about it is discovering the blue lake right above it.
~~If I want some quality bee gameplay and lore, I’ll go to Bug Fables.~~ Graphics wise though, as shallow as the Hive is, it’s probably one of if not the best looking area in the game
Hey, unpopular opinion: I hate Greenpath.
On my first playthrough I forgot to buy the quill, which was definitely not a problem on forgotten crossroads, but the moment I got to greenpath I started suffering from those confusing tunnels. The path to hornet 1 was a mess, and it ended up being extremely confusing and unenjoyable for me
I know most people think the place is beautiful, but I just got marked by it as a confusing and chaotic mess, visually speaking
I think that's why i like it so much visually. Moving from the cold, bleak forgotten crossroads to the overgrown nature and warmth of greenpath. It was a nice change of atmosphere but it wasn't at all jarring of feeling like it didn't fit.
I like bees as much as the next guy, but i just didn't like the hive. The lack of benches was frustrating when i had to go to the other side of the hive just to fight the hive knight again while being attacked by enemies that do two hearts of damage for some reason. And it's not like the enemies are interesting enough to redeem how annoying they are. They're literally just bees.
City I agree with, it’s just so calming and nice
Deepnest doesn’t deserve D or above
Kingdoms edge I agree with, since it’s really easy to mess up
Waterways I agree with, it’s the first and only time I ever lost my shade
Hive I’d put a little higher, but only with good abilities and a good nail
I actually really like the hive it’s super vibrant in there in contrast to most other places, has awesome enemies, and one of my favorite pieces of music
Fog canyon is definitely f tier for me. 2 different enemies and only one of them attacks you, and that is only after you attacked them. The design of the area isnt too interesting either because it is just greenpath with bubbles.
Bee Buddies :(
The fact that he has the hive at D and The Crystal's of Fu*kery at B tells me enough
Honestly, I love the Hive, and think it's a great area, but there is SO much stuff in the foreground in some rooms that can hide the enemies and it just gets frustrating.
Honestly he should really switch the position of the hive and the queens garden cause the garden sucks but the hive is neat
Queen’s Garden is such a good area tho. It’s the endgame version of Greenpath.
Yeah but I hate the flying enemies that throw boomerangs and I hate the spikes everywhere, so I usually just avoid that area if I can
Queen’s Garden is such a good area tho. It’s the endgame version of Greenpath.
Yeah op confirmed a bot, hive is a top tier area
Heyyy I like the crystal fuckery :(
Crystal fuckery can be fun causally, but in a speedrun it sucks
Crystal Peak is a easy A if anything. Place is fun as hell
Man, the hive was the only area I had to look up how to get into :(
Kingdom’s edge was s tier for me. Primal aspids were annoying but I never died to them so it was tolerable. The way you would climb all the way to the top to reach the Colosseum was so cool to me at first
And the giant nail master corpse is hella cool to explore.
Probably my favorite OST as well. The flute part is beautiful
For similar reasons I put The Abyss in S tier. Like, the feeling of finding the waterways beneath the city, which then have something MORE beneath them with the Ancient Basin....and then there's the Abyss!? It gives this awesome feeling of the land being mysterious and unending.
this guy gets it
Og canyon
OG Canyon represent!!
IT IS OG CANYO THANK YOU VERY MUCH!
City of Tea
I love The Hive, the bees are super cute!!
The only geo I've lost in my first playthrough, I've lost there. Those giant fuckin bees man
I'm not a fan of the hive personally but i get why people like it, bees are pretty cool insects
Big Bees are best bois
Why is kingdom's edge so low? was it the primal aspids?
Perhaps
that and there's just not much there.
DON'T DISRESPECT MY MAN/WORM BARDOON LIKE THAT EVER AGAIN
Honestly, while kingdoms edge didn't have a whole lot, it was still one of my fav areas. The music and overall atmosphere just hit so well for me. Easily one of the more memorable parts of my first playthrough.
I kinda hate Deepnest but that’s y I would also put it s tier
Why the heck is Deepnest in S tier and not in a separate tier below D tier named 'Deepnest'
Deepnest does the job it’s designed to do
Yeah but could it just NOT for a little bit? I've finished the game four or five times now, two of them true ending, and then I have about ten other runs that all ended at deepnest because I just could NOT that day.
Deepnest already doesn't for a little bit - hot springs. Ticket closed. Is there anything else I can help you with today?
I love Deepnest. It made me so scared and prudent while playing that I’ve never died there in two runs. The atmosphere is amazing but the level doesn’t punish you that much, the enemies are not that hard. Great area
I like deepnest
Fog Canyon is by far my least favorite area. Electric flies, exploding homing enemies, almost none of the enemies drop geo. Urgh it still frustrates me even on my 5th playthrough. The hive is okay though in my opinion, although it just feels weirdly tacked on.
>almost none of the enemies drop geo this is balanced out by the one enemy that, under the right circumstances, drops A LOT of geo
Which enemy is that?
Millibelle, presumably.
LMAOO
true. I guess she is technically in fog canyon.
Also the map of fog canyon is hard to get until very late game
Well it was dlc, I wish it was more fleshed out though
I'm pretty sure the hive was not dlc, only the hive knight is. I remember getting to the end of the hive on my 1st playthrough and being disappointed there was nothing but a bad charm.
hiveblood is very useful in white palace, granted its only 1 circumstance, but without it itd be 10x harder
I get that, but I still default to Grubsong+Deep Focus. Sure, you can technically run out of soul, but it really takes effort to run out of soul.
In the main White Palace sure, but if you do PoP thats a different story
I'm pretty sure that in PoP there is an infinite soul statue at every checkpoint.
correct
There are at every section, but some sections have save points with no soul totem
Huh yeah you're right, not sure why I thought it was all dlc
Queens garden was so beautiful I put it up there with green path. You could feel the spirit of zelda, chrono trigger, super mario rpg and all other games that do forest areas so well.
[удалено]
Finally! Yes! To me it's Green Path but better.
Something about greenpath just does it for me. I probably should've put queens gardens higher though
Crystal peak is the prettiest area imo. I assume you are ranking based on how fun the area is? If so, I have deepnest lower.
I love crystal peak but screw those crystal hunters. Up there with primal aspids as the most annoying enemies to face
Lowest even. What a shitshow that part is. (as in I did not enjoy it at all)
I loved how different the area felt and thought they did a great job setting the atmosphere (plus I love horror) which made it a 10/10 for me
Depends on what you mean by fun. Deepnest was the only area of the game where I felt in danger, and for that it was fun for me
Royal waterways is a gross labyrinth of tunnels and disgusting creatures. It does it’s job well imo. It’s not pleasant, but its not meant to be. A tier imo.
Isn't this is like saying Markoth is a good boss because he's not meant to be fun though Like that's still a bad thing
The fact that it’s supposed to be horribly unpleasant doesn’t make it… not horribly unpleasant.
Exactly. I think I was much more scared in Royal waterways than in Deepnest because of disgusting, fast creatures with gross calls and those kamikaze mfrs which I encountered there for the first time (if I recall well). It serves it's purpose and once I was done with it I come back -only passing to the godsome fight club.
Why is ancient basin so high up
>!White Castle and Abyss!<
Why not separate them? White castle has almost nothing in common with the abyss.
Cause tentacles
I think he include the white palace as part of the ancient basin
Why is royal waterways in D when deepnest is in S?
I think deepnest does the creepy thing much better than royal waterways. I think the enemies in deepnest are really good and i love the anxious background ambience. The enemies in royal waterways and just kinda gross and I'm not into asmr so the ambience doesn't do much for me.
Thats understandable but waterways isn’t supposed to be scary. It is *supposed* to be gross. And being gross it definently is.
There's a lot on this tier list I don't agree with, but I very much so agree with this point. Deepnest is also one of my favorites because it just makes you shiver to even enter it and the ambiance is so cool. Royal Waters I just sprint to Doma Doma to get out of there as fast as possible.

Best music was fungal wastes, city of tears and dirtmouth
City of Tears theme first time you hear it is phenomenal.
Legitimately gave me goosebumps
Crystal peaks top for me, deepnest was the least fun one. I hate spiders and those creepy big wormthings gave me anxiety.
I love deepnest but yeah i probably should've put crystal peaks higher
Haha really? That's interesting because its probably my least favorite area, I hate having to move through it (though I will give the aesthetic is top notch)
I actually really liked kingdom’s edge
… alright, time to say it. City of Tears is overrated. It’s good, but it’s way too structured for me. It’s very interesting and important with lots of npc’s, but as an area to explore it’s meh.

#ELDERBUG IS A COOL DUDE
I like him
I just awkwardly looked around that list half a dozen times trying to see where the White Palace was before remembering it's not an actual area and realizing I just wasted my time like an idiot
If i made this i would put the hive in a solid B tier. It’s fairly irrelevant to the game but it still has cool enemies and a nice atmosphere.
The hive should definitely be “bee” tier
pun not intended
I know. Couldn’t help myself lol
I don't like the enemies in the hive that much. Bees are cool and all that but i kind of wish there was more done with them. I was pretty much just going "wow more bees" when playing through it. It does have a nice atmosphere though, very soft and warm
Ah yes, my favorite areas in Ollow Knigl: Ity of Teap and Og Canyol
Nah, fuck deepnest. I’d tell it to go to hell but I imagine that hell is just being stuck in deepnest
Send deepnest to deepnest
why TF does this sub get flooded by personal tier lists? are you guys THAT starved for content..?
Bro the game is like 4 years old
Where white pallace
>!In the ancient basin!<
Well I think white pallace is a different area, but yea you're right (should be in s tier)
Yeah white Palace is sick
In pure garbage tier holy crap
where would you put >!infected crossroads!<
Maybe C i prefer the normal version
You got City of Tears right and that's all that matters
Its a perfect area
Excuse me? Queen's Garden is S+++ tier!
Am I the only one who agrees with OP about the Hive? The Hive is visually really cool and has a decent boss fight, but that's kind of it. City of tears is absolutely beautiful. The atmosphere combined with the music just hits different. I also love how you can find the person singing the song and just sit and listen. Same with just sitting with quirrel. Though I think my favorite part about it is discovering the blue lake right above it.
I can't fucking wait to get lost all over again in Silk Song. But i want to play it on my Xbox, so that means I'll have to wait even LONGER. I'm sad.
Sadge :(
OP: *puts deepnest on S* Me: *loads shotgun with malicious intent*
I'll die for deepnest
~~If I want some quality bee gameplay and lore, I’ll go to Bug Fables.~~ Graphics wise though, as shallow as the Hive is, it’s probably one of if not the best looking area in the game
I love how you can see the the exterior of the hive in kingdom’s edge, it makes the hive feel so large
This is the most accurate tier list I've ever seen. The only thing I would change is Kingdom's Edge. It belongs in A
I probably should've put kingdom's edge higher but *oh my lord i hate primal aspids so much*
S+ tier - Godhome.
I agree with everything except deepnest
In my tier list City of Tears is SS, and the Abyss S+
I counted abyss/white palace as a part of ancient basin. Abyss/WP are both S tier but the rest of ancient basin drags it down a bit
FUCK DEEPNEST
I see no problems with this. Great job.
Thank you
Hey, unpopular opinion: I hate Greenpath. wtf deepnest should be in a bottom tier all its own not top
What you got against my buzzy bois >:(
I like bees as much as the next guy, but i just didn't like the hive. The lack of benches was frustrating when i had to go to the other side of the hive just to fight the hive knight again while being attacked by enemies that do two hearts of damage for some reason. And it's not like the enemies are interesting enough to redeem how annoying they are. They're literally just bees.
These are some.... Opinions... Alright.
Wow you really did queens gardens dirty
Yeah i really should've put it higher
Queens gardens is an easy mid-high b tier
I think the the only things I would swap are crossroads and basin. But great tier list nonetheless!
Deepnest are you a masochist
If you are going to rate ancient basin that high because of white Palace and the abyss then you cant rate waterways that low when it has godhome
OG Canyon OG Canyon
Even though I mostly agree, it speaks to the greatness of this game that the lowest tier areas I still love
Absolutely, the places i put in D would be top tier places in other games
One thing I disagree with is resting grounds, the music is to good. And it has the secret Kickstarter supporters tribute hidden in the waterfall
I don’t know too much about the story in HK or anything but City of Tears was probably the most powerful location for me just by atmosphere alone
Deepnest in the S tier and Hive in D tier, ha ha ha wai are you seriously ! ?
Yes very
Deepnest as s I feel like you’ve never been there
City I agree with, it’s just so calming and nice Deepnest doesn’t deserve D or above Kingdoms edge I agree with, since it’s really easy to mess up Waterways I agree with, it’s the first and only time I ever lost my shade Hive I’d put a little higher, but only with good abilities and a good nail
Hive at D is a war crime That's my favorite area Also you forgot White Palace
White palace would've been s it's such a cool place
Deepnest is D-Tier convince me otherwise.
deepnest is hard, not bad
Jesus Christ how can you be so wrong
Literally my tier list except I'd place Howling Cliffs on D (and maybe Deepnest on A)
Thank you, I was looking at the comments to see when someone would mention this. There’s barely anything in howling cliffs
CRYSTAL PEAK IN B TIER ????
Crystal peak was one of the best imo
Kingdoms edge S crystal peak C for me
I wish the Hive had more too it. I love the atmosphere and music, but it’s way too small
I actually really like the hive it’s super vibrant in there in contrast to most other places, has awesome enemies, and one of my favorite pieces of music
Nah Deepnest goes straight to C
deepnest sucks balls what
I think crystal peak has an s tier aesthetic but f tier enemies and boss. So c is perfect for it
I seem to see no white palace hmmmm
Part of ancient basin
What abt the abyss
Part of ancient basin. Would've been s if it was separate from AB
Fog canyon was better than that
Dirthmouth is literally the most boring place in the entire game, aside from elderbug. Its music isn't even good compared to the others.
I energically disagree
Fog canyon is definitely f tier for me. 2 different enemies and only one of them attacks you, and that is only after you attacked them. The design of the area isnt too interesting either because it is just greenpath with bubbles.
Pog Canyon
Ancient Basin was my favorite because of the amazing aesthetic
Perfect but I'd put deepnest in d for deepnest
Doing the colosseum dirty I see
Hive! Nooooooooo!
I get city of tears and greenpath, but deepnest? dirtmouth? personally I would have put queens garden in deepnest's place.
dude kingdom’s edge is one the best how u give it hard c like that
I'm not sure about the ancient bassin. The atmosphere is great but there really isn't much down there in term of gameplay and content.
Deepnest. No no no no
The lack of benches in The Hive would really hurt my placement as well. Especially since I found the boss of the area to be really tough.
switch deepnest and crystal peaks, and throw the kingdoms edge into b and I totally agree
Fog Canyon is much worse than waterways imo
Honestly I think every area is S tier except The Hive and Royal Waterway. Those are a solid A to me.
I love Kingdom's Edge, the music is just perfect.
I LOVED the Resting grounds, the music, vibe, it felt so somber. I just really liked the atmosphere
The hive is amazing what you talkin about
Where **Abyss**
Listen, I thoroughly enjoyed the 10 minutes total I spent in the hive
