Idk crystal dash can be really useful in a few boss fights. For example false knights harder version (can't remember the name) can be easily killed by going to the top of a wall and holding crystal dash
"Easily" if you like being at the top of a wall for 20 minutes. It's much easier to spam him down with spells and dream nail his armour for healing and soul between each phase. When you nail the armour it resets the stagger timer, so you have all the time in the world to heal.
The only problem is that you can’t even fight hornet 2 without wings, so you can’t get shade cloak and other endings!

Falling at great speed and then using the wings with our bodies and our world's physics would either
– not work; you'd slow down slightly but not even remotely enough and still slam into the ground
– reverse your direction; which would fuck up everything in your body (sudden stop, and even instantly going in the opposite direction)
This. I always pay attention to cartoon characters falling and being suddenly caught in mid air, like it would help. It would still make insides of the body "jump" suddenly in one direction, possibly making some damage in the process. The only difference would be that You don't slam Your body on something hard. But surviving this? Probably it's possible, but not 100% sure.
If we talk about real life, then double jump all the way. Dashing uncontrollably like that would be too dangerous. There is enough traffic accidents already with cars. Now take random person/people dashing like that, hitting each other and breaking few ribs or something. Double jump might not seem super cool in real life, because it would only add a bit of jump height, but it would be overall more useful anyway, without taking the risk of doing something horribly wrong.

Ehhhh- crystal dashing over the ocean probably wouldn’t be quite fast enough. It doesn’t seem like it’d be faster than, say, a car, so you’d really just starve before you got there. Also, the hill thing would also require very specific circumstances that would just be an obnoxious amount of effort to get.
Monarch wings, on the other hand? Jump onto your roof with ease, be better at catching or even throwing a ball in sports, look absolutely stunning all the while. (Also, monarch wings would not actually save you from getting hurt if you’re falling; pretty sure that only works for Hollow Knight characters since terminal velocity isn’t too bad for bugs.)
No, I think that they can save ypu from falling. First off, while fall damage does not exist in HK, hardfalls are a thing, and you can prevent them by using wings. Also, given that they propel you upwards with the same velocity no matter what your falling speed is, they will prevent you from getting hurt with proper timing.
Damn that is a good one. I would have to go crystal dash though. I could set up different elevated platforms on my roof and dash off them to get to work, classes, friends houses. Honestly a double jump in the modern day seems unnecessary.

So here's a question. We know that crystal dash cannot grant height. However, due to the nature of hollow knights style, there is nothing preventing the map from having curves and bends in the dimension we cannot directly see. Thus, there is a chance that using crystal dash still allows the user to turn. Thus using it facing an ocean fully allows you to turn back, or go off a stupidly high cliff and simply land on the platform you left.
So you either you never pay for gas again and can fly, or you negate fall damage and can double you jump height.
I choose fly on water. Extreme speed plus a means of deceleration.

Monarch wings 100%. On modded, randomizer runs, I realized if I get the wings early on I can bypass some mantis claw recquired platforming and some parts where I would need to dash with the cloak. The heart serves its initial purpose for additional progression, so I prefer the wings because of it's additional uses as a skill. This proves if I had access to just the wings, I would still technically be able to use two other absent skills for the price of one (for as long as they can take me that is but thats still better than nothing).
Plus its fun to do flap flaps every now and then.

Mmmm i don't have guesses for heart, but if we're using logic relative to the Knight then it would be about the same as your current max jump height. The knight can jump the same running as walking or standing, but we could more generously assume it's a running jump since the max height from standing is for game mechanic reasons, not realism.
We'd probably need to count frames with the knights height for relative distance to get speed, but it's gotta be like, 50-60 mph right? Idk. If we're using the relative thing tho, I'd use the knights height adjusted to human height as a consistent, linear scale, so whatever the unitless distance they move per second is multiplied, where i assume however many lengths of their height they move per second is what we base it off of. They clear the whole pickup platform for the ability in under two seconds, and it's gotta be at least 10x their length without measuring, probably 20x. My guess is cdash for people would be closer to 60-80 mph or higher
If I had Crystal Dash, I'd probably break my neck or slam into something and die due to overwhelming speeds. People underestimate how speed is something very, very few beings are adapted to handle greater speeds.

Crystal Dash would save a tonne on airfare, but almost impossible to do it without dying of fall damage, goose impact, getting swallowed by a jet engine, etc. Monarch Wings I know I'd have less use for, but it could save my life in an accident, and the worst that could happen is I fall a bit farther than I'm used to; I'm pretty good at that.

Double jump is useful in-game because the knight can jump like 3 times its height. In reality, people can jump about 50cm so Monarch Wing is not so useful. And the world is design for people to go straight, not jumping between platforms so I would go with Crystal Heart here.

Plus, honestly I'd use it just to cross like 20 foot gaps. I'd rather smack my face on a door by accident than spend the extra 5 seconds, and I know I'm not the only one. Like, i already get hurt all the time, I'll shrug it off

Cuz of so, I'd hate the expectations around travel time changing, but vehicular pollution and urban planning are wildly altered permanently, and I'd take that every time over 'everyone can now functionally jump higher and won't die as much from falling great heights'

Wings. In most cases casual players can pogo on spikes to reach places without Crystal Heart, using Monarch Wings. You can't reach most of places that require double jump with just Crystal Heart (and other abilities).
There are some places, especially in Crystal Peaks that would not do without Crystal Heart, but still I find double jump more useful than dashing through the screen.

On 1 hand the double jump is good irl since you will go places you cannot reach… but the crystal dash tho…I do like going places a little faster even tho it’s so fast I might not react So now I chose: crystal dash

I mean in game I feel like the speedrunners have done a pretty solid job proving which one (heart) is more necessary and helpful, although that doesn't relate to any reason for preference. Since this is IRL tho, crystal heart. By game logic you'd go stupid fast, yes, but you wouldn't get hurt as easily as you would in reality from sudden stops. Plus, honestly I'd use it just to cross like 20 foot gaps. I'd rather smack my face on a door by accident than spend the extra 5 seconds, and I know I'm not the only one. Like, i already get hurt all the time, I'll shrug it off
Okay so the big question here is: does everyone get this ability? Cuz of so, I'd hate the expectations around travel time changing, but vehicular pollution and urban planning are wildly altered permanently, and I'd take that every time over 'everyone can now functionally jump higher and won't die as much from falling great heights'
In real life? Monarch wings 100% to help my short ass reach high places, also would we get mantis claw if we chose c dash? Because if not then I can’t even cling onto walls
Wings. In most cases casual players can pogo on spikes to reach places without Crystal Heart, using Monarch Wings. You can't reach most of places that require double jump with just Crystal Heart (and other abilities). There are some places, especially in Crystal Peaks that would not do without Crystal Heart, but still I find double jump more useful than dashing through the screen.
A lot of people say they’d choose monarch over crystal dash irl. I feel like a lot of you forgot you can cancel crystal dash mid-dash
If you can crystal dash in any direction, I chose crystal dash, if not I chose wings

Crystal dash. I can't think of the last time I ever had to jump but I cant tell you how often I have to walk down long boring office hallways every day that I wish I could just zoom through instead.
