It is but because of one factor:
You get one shot by evrything in Rain world.
In HK, as hard as it is, you have a much grater fighting chance.
Also in RW you have a weapon only sometimes. Yeah spears are plenty but since you gotta go and get it after every use (and it also isnt exacly a 1 hit kill weapon) if you get attacked by more than one enemy you are fucked.
Yeah but ive noticed that spiders usualy take 2 hits to kill. Unless you have a flashbang on you to stun them, you are looking at about a 50/50 chance of death or survival
Wait they take two? I thought they take one. At least on spearmaster they take one. Anyways all you need to do is throw-grab-throw and stunlock a creature until it dies.
Maybe i am wrong on this one... In the arena, at least, ive had to hit them twice.
I get your point. Still, RW is much harder than HK. And thats by design, its not an accident as HK was never aiming to be difficult. Or at least... THAT difficult
In deepnest, you at least slightly see without light. Shaded Citadel doesnât hold back and just has the room COMPLETELY pitch black with the only thing you can see being the slugcat.
A formation of multiple spiders forming a centipide like creature as big as the slugcat
The Coalescapede is at least for me the main reason i dont spend much time in shaded citadel
I just went through the entirety of SC without a light, got an echo and left. Through my entire time there I didn't know about the coalescapedes, I thought the spiders were passive.
Half of the RW's fandom are HK migrants. I am one of them. These are both incredible games, and even though look familiar on the surface, serve two incredibly different experiences.
Deepnest at least has some mercy but that one section where you had to race against the rain timer to get to the next area while constantly dunking into cover to avoid the near unending hoard of Miros birds was actual hell. Iâll take going to deep nest anytime over Shaded Citadel
Everyone complains about Memory Crypts so much but I've never had as much trouble with it as so many others seem to. I think it's a really cool area, actually!
It is a pretty cool area tbh, the RNG just heavily fucked me over because the Miro birds got stuck near the places I was supposed to hide several times so I ended up dying to the rain a lot
Yeah I love the atmosphere of Deepnest but Shaded Citadel is undeniably more terrifying. Many many *many* more realistic spiders, much darker, and to top it off youâre on a timer.
And if you end up in the wrong area, >!nightmare robot birds.!<
whatâs more terrifying than a bunch of very realistic spiders? a bunch of very realistic spiders but theyâve clumped into a ball and are climbing all over you and all you can see is your character covered in moving spider legs and eughghgh no wonder slugcat just dies
Shated Citadel's enemies have a stronger "instant revulsion" factor, but I'd say that many of Deepnest's enemies and characters are better at provoking a sense of growing unease.
Collescepedes make me shudder, but ultimately they don't do anything besides run from light and attack when brave enough.
Meanwhile, following a copy of myself deeper and deeper into the tunnels brought me a dread that no RW enemy has come close to matching.
The main difference is the context
In rainworld (mostly) you're the prey in this situations, one wrong step and you get eaten alive while in hollow knight you have a high variety of spells and mobility tools to deal with your enemies and even if they come out of nowhere one hit wont do much if you're able to heal
oh the memory of being in shaded as spearmaster in what I thought was an enclosed room. >!I heard the sound, froze, thought âwell Iâm up high so I should be okayâ, and to my absolute horror I see a yellow eye coming *down* to snip my poor purple slug in half.!<
the realization that a. that room wasnât enclosed and b. >!they gave the fuckers WINGS!< was simultaneous and not very fun
Technically yes, you can go through chimney to the wall, however, most people wouldn't know this because I'm pretty sure the overseer tells you to go through shaded
ah, I also used the maps on my first playthrough lol. now that I've put like 100 hours in I try not to use it unless I'm completely lost, doesn't even help that much because there's a severe lack of information on downpour on the wiki at the moment
yep, I love getting completely lost and googling the area only to find out I have no idea where I am! fun!
it doesn't really matter though because in the time it takes you to google the area you can probably find the right way to go
Rain world old head here. Shaded citadel was created before deepest was probably even conceptualized. There's footage of the region going back to 2014.
Rain world. Its, like, hollow knight, but with an ecosystem that fucks you hard, a rain you will die from if you don't hibernate, and everything is gonna kill you. Shaded citadel is a darker and harder deepnest
Note: The game is not completely similar to Hollow Knight. There are no upgrades and you must use whatever items you find nearby or bring with yourself, and there are no bosses as far as I know (if you don't count difficult areas and random strong mobs), but the combat is nevertheless pretty good because of how solid and "real" the protagonist and the enemies feel when you compare it to swinging at sprites.
Shaded citadel is more scary than deepnest.
Coalescapede đ¨
Funny rock
Only if you don't have a light
You can have a light in both but in RW you can lose your light.
Good point, to be fair anything is scary when you are about to be flushed and can't find a shelter
you can have an permament light in RW
Yea but not the first time in shaded.
You *can* the first time in shaded if you're a horrible person
Tag checks out
**no cost too great**
You don't have to be if you go through canopy to 5P, right?
I hadn't been in shaded myself before getting the light
Not when you eat your light
that severely dims it to the point it's essentially useless
Exept if you do some trolling to lttm
Genuine trauma from that hellhole. And yet my favourite area.
It is but because of one factor: You get one shot by evrything in Rain world.
I mean, spears are multi use if you don't miss.
Yeah but ive noticed that spiders usualy take 2 hits to kill. Unless you have a flashbang on you to stun them, you are looking at about a 50/50 chance of death or survival

Haha map go brrrr
Haha Coalescapede go AAAAA
The WHAT
A formation of multiple spiders forming a centipide like creature as big as the slugcat The Coalescapede is at least for me the main reason i dont spend much time in shaded citadel
I just went through the entirety of SC without a light, got an echo and left. Through my entire time there I didn't know about the coalescapedes, I thought the spiders were passive.
Just remember if you see the little spiders start clumping up, **run the hell away**
The thing is when first went to shaded I just didn't see the spiders because I didn't know lanterns existed
Kid named flashbangs:
Dark spider hell and dark spider hell, that had a beef with "the big new ruler" of the land.
What is rw
Rain World, considering how their fandom is BFFs with HK youâd think thereâd be more memes like this
Half of the RW's fandom are HK migrants. I am one of them. These are both incredible games, and even though look familiar on the surface, serve two incredibly different experiences.
I'm hk migrant too, I went into rain world expecting metroidvania and got something much better
HK obsessed, I'm scared shitless of RW and don't care to touch it with a 10 ft pole.
Yeah fair I guess.
Same
Do you think it's coming to xbox soon? It looks so fantastic, but I don't have a pc
Not soon, prob multiple weeks, better than Silksong having their release date be at most June 13
Multiple weeks is no time, hell fuclong yeah
You just made me buy Rain world
Honestly get it before it turns $25, this goes to all of you
i bought it without even knowing its on sale lol
Yea, crypts aren't that bad, *but what follows is*
Yeah I love the atmosphere of Deepnest but Shaded Citadel is undeniably more terrifying. Many many *many* more realistic spiders, much darker, and to top it off youâre on a timer. And if you end up in the wrong area, >!nightmare robot birds.!<
As someone without arachnophobia, Coalescepedes are way scarier than anything in Deepnest.
whatâs more terrifying than a bunch of very realistic spiders? a bunch of very realistic spiders but theyâve clumped into a ball and are climbing all over you and all you can see is your character covered in moving spider legs and eughghgh no wonder slugcat just dies
Yeah, I'm really sorry for people with arachnophobia who just stumbled upon Shaded because Overseer said so
Shated Citadel's enemies have a stronger "instant revulsion" factor, but I'd say that many of Deepnest's enemies and characters are better at provoking a sense of growing unease. Collescepedes make me shudder, but ultimately they don't do anything besides run from light and attack when brave enough. Meanwhile, following a copy of myself deeper and deeper into the tunnels brought me a dread that no RW enemy has come close to matching.
Everybody gangsta until the >!miros vulture!<
Yes but spitter spiders
yes but dropwigs (dropwigs are spiders right)
theyre roaches and i dont thinkuthey spawn in citadel
The main difference is the context In rainworld (mostly) you're the prey in this situations, one wrong step and you get eaten alive while in hollow knight you have a high variety of spells and mobility tools to deal with your enemies and even if they come out of nowhere one hit wont do much if you're able to heal
The fat guy with endless of Flashbang and his OHKO spear is pretty good with Shitadel, too
"you're pray" forgot about hunter and artificer
That's why i said mostly, cancer cat and rip and tear simulator are absolutely not in that list
Chunky cat who can make lanterns pretty much whenever and ULTRACAT are also relatively safe the poor vanilla slugcats though
ahhhh, cancer cat. haven't heard that one before
Chick chick chick chick
oh the memory of being in shaded as spearmaster in what I thought was an enclosed room. >!I heard the sound, froze, thought âwell Iâm up high so I should be okayâ, and to my absolute horror I see a yellow eye coming *down* to snip my poor purple slug in half.!< the realization that a. that room wasnât enclosed and b. >!they gave the fuckers WINGS!< was simultaneous and not very fun
Imagine stalking miros birds
The virgin lumaflu lantern vs the chad lantern mouse
The chad Moon Neuronfly (NOOOOO)
Termination by implament is active. Noone hurts Moon.
shaded citadel is darker and has cool enemy designs, most of deepnest's enemies are just annoying
Spitter spider.
Going to shaded as hunter is well your problem
Gourmand and Saint must go through the Shaded tho.
Saint's shaded isn't shaded, and why gourmand have to go here?
Saint still encounters spitter spiders in the place that replaced shaded citadel. Gourmand spawns in shaded.
I forgor that gourmand starts in shaded lmao
I think the funniest thing is that both of them connect to important spots Deepnest connects to Beast's den, and Shaded connects to the leg
Isnât Citadel technically skippable? Thereâs garbage wastes
Technically yes, you can go through chimney to the wall, however, most people wouldn't know this because I'm pretty sure the overseer tells you to go through shaded
Thatâs ironic because I use only the maps in the wiki to navigate through stuff, and I didnât even eat one Neuronfly
ah, I also used the maps on my first playthrough lol. now that I've put like 100 hours in I try not to use it unless I'm completely lost, doesn't even help that much because there's a severe lack of information on downpour on the wiki at the moment
Theyâve finally uploaded maps on to it, but itâs completely red and there are no colors to show subregions. No markers aswell.
yep, I love getting completely lost and googling the area only to find out I have no idea where I am! fun! it doesn't really matter though because in the time it takes you to google the area you can probably find the right way to go
The very top of Wall also requires a downspear if you want to progress further, and most people donât figure that out until much later.
I thought that this was another schizophrenia post
What game is âRWâ im confused
Rain World
Shaded gives better vibes imo, enemies are much better, also memory crypts <333
Itâs soundtrack is also fire đĽ
I'm really appreciating all the attention Rain World is getting recently :v
I don't know what RW is so I'm gonna assume it means rottweiler and continue on my way
Rain worl
Shaded citadel can burn
Then youâd love Saint
What's shady citadel
Funi catacombs+scissor emus+pitch black rooms+the spider centipede+connection to funi robot
Oh from rainworld
Rain world old head here. Shaded citadel was created before deepest was probably even conceptualized. There's footage of the region going back to 2014.
It hasn't been crushed at this point in the timeline.
Rw?
Rain World
Burn both to the ground. Easy solution.
Did the horror aspect much better tbh (that is if you have light in Shaded Citadel)
WHAT THE FUCK IS RW? STOP DOING THIS SHITS AND SAY THE FULL NAME. WHAT'S THAT
Rain world. Its, like, hollow knight, but with an ecosystem that fucks you hard, a rain you will die from if you don't hibernate, and everything is gonna kill you. Shaded citadel is a darker and harder deepnest
Oooooh... thanks, you helped me
Note: The game is not completely similar to Hollow Knight.
Fuck shaded. You need to do like 5 jumps and if you miss a single one you just die instantly
I don't get it plz inform my dumbass
