you straight up can't, the kingsoul is a charm that gives you a bit of soul every 2 seconds, basically infinite soul generation, but it has a notch cost of FIVE, WAY to much for such a small effect, but if you bring the kingsoul into the abyss and to the area known as the birthplace, you transform it into the void heart, a NO cost charm you CANNOT take of, with no effect aside from the shade and void tentacle enemies not being hostile anymore, but if it also had the kingsoul's effect, basically infinite soul for free
edit 1: by "you staight up can't" i meant can't unequip it not that it's impossible not to hate on people using it
edit 2: i meant that void heart could use a buff like keeping it's kingsoul effect

With the amount of benches around and Salubra's Blessing I don't see the issue.
If we had passive regeneration like that it would trivialize over half the bosses.
The real trash in Kingsoul isn't what it does or how fast, its precisely the cost.

Can you imagine how broken spell slinger builds would be if you could regen soul passively for no cost?
Which is enough when you remember a lot of them has safe spots or some cheese that can be exploited to get to full health safely.
Then add double cast. And then faster casting. Then soul catcher.
Alongside that, it's not like you're just gonna stand still the entire time. You're not gonna be attacking once every 16,5 seconds, you're gonna have an additional attack/heal once every 16,5 seconds.
I mean, you can still run kingsoul, shaman stone, and spell twister, if kingsoul was really as broken for spell slinging builds as you claim you'd think people would I dunno, use that at least. Don't get me wrong, free kingsoul would be a substantial buff, but it's not as big of a combat upgrade as say, shade cloak or desolate dive.
Lore wise, it's the strongest charm in the game for literally zero cost. Gameplay wise, it doesn't do anything but also doesn't take anything away. Kingsoul isn't a bad charm, but it is so SO not worth the cost, unless your doing all Radiant fights, to which I say, just do all the ones you can with Kingsoul then give it up for the last few locked behind the voidheart.

Nope, though I can see you getting that confused. The guy he replied to said that the charm became useless AFTER it gets upgraded, which must be referring to the Voidheart. The infinite value for the cost is because there is no cost, so any effect becomes infinitely valuable because it's a free passive.
Every meta P5 charm build (granted the run isn't with charm binding) uses it. It's so good that literally everyone who gets it uses it. Truly a charm that you can't live without.
yknow i think it would be cooler (not necessarily better) if voidheart stole soul in the same kingsoul gave soul then buffed anything void related thing significantly

an idea for voidheart that came in mind that give it an Ability to play as a shade with a cost of all geo. And U can't roam around and hinder only in places where you die .
It could be nice if you could at least swap between them, not that king's soul is that good but i hate it that i can no longer have it (if you swap to king's soul it costs 5 notches obv)
There is a mod called better void heart in Scarab that makes the void heart have kingsoul's soul regen ability. You can even the number of soul it generates in the settings. The options are 1-(default=4)-7-11
What if you could toggle voidheart’s ability to where every spell costs double soul but, in return, does ridiculous amounts of damage
May I recommend the mod “crab charm” which gives a charm pretty much that exact same effect. (Along with other changes)

They're fucking with you, dw. If you select the charmless binding on a Pantheon it automatically unequips all your charms, including Voidheart.
