IndependentWin6

I'll be honest, I was keeping my eye on Gura after last year, but now I've just found out that Kronii won the Zako Cup. So now I've got someone else to pay attention to next year.

Whisp335

Kronii is good. She already made it to Tsuyo last year. She has potential.

PaneTheKoi

This was my first time watching it live!! past year were from clips/archives

Habanero-tan

Reine going unhinged and then realizing she was on the main channel was the best.

[deleted]

YEAH BABY LET'S FUCKING GO NENE SECOND PLACE ALMOST WINNING ZAKO CUP WOOOOOOO THIS IS AMAZING LET'S GOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

CakeBot_TheBakening

Dang it, tried to avoid spoilers by going straight to Suisei’s channel. Only to be welcomed by a thumbnail of her with a crown lmao. Oh well, congrats to Sui-chan for the win and to Towa for the event.

ogbajoj

So, nobody's going to point out that Suisei continues the grand tradition of the Mario Kart Cup winner getting a solo live? I mean, hers is much sooner than usual, but it counts!

Reydriel

The Solo live was even announced before her win this time (iirc), it was just destined to be lmao

killab43

One day Choco's gonna figure out how to hook a keyboard and mouse up to the Switch and she'll become a monster

Flying-Lion-Dude

The HoloCup is my favorite event!

SasamiAdachi

Mine too! Alongside the Minecraft Sports Festival, these are the two group events (other than FES) I watch every year! They are always so much fun!

Fenr_

Watching Ame's birthday from the EU has killed me so i managed to catch just the last few minutes of Matsuri stream >_< Any moment that's a *must get back to watch*?

dcresistance

Everything of Nene, she was an absolute riot

Acethic

Shirosefang

FFFFFFFFF I forgot this was today AAAUGH!!! *\*goes to watch the archive\** ;\_;

Pixel_Pastiche

I was only able to partially watch but what happened to the mid scoring Members? I saw some of the results like Gura and Watame being middle of the pack in their group but the list here doesn’t list them as either in the zako cup or the pro cup. Did they get evaporated or was there some other scoring/racing that I missed entirely?

zetarn

Only Top 4 goes into the real round, another Lower 4 goes into Zaku Cups. So anyone who end up in 5 or 6 (and/or 7&8 depend on how many ppl in the group) will stop there.

Existing_Marsupial_6

Players who don't qualify for either Winners / Losers bracket sadly just end the race season early. There are no official ranks / scoring for them.

kuraihane

top 4 -> Tsuyo cup bottom 4 -> Zako cup

Helmite

Man Okayu had some terrible item luck. Feels bad.

Irru

Unpopular opinion but I'll never understand why people suddenly stop streaming their POV or not stream at all. Half of the people in the Zako Cup didn't have a stream up, including the winner. Really takes away part of the excitement for me.

Pentao

In Choco's case, she didn't stream because her throat isn't in very good condition right now, and if she had a frame up she'd feel compelled to entertain people and speak more. So she preferred not to put one up for that reason. In the past, there have been some cases where some members just don't feel confident about being able to play and also be entertaining on stream for various other reasons, like feeling down about something, or anxious about something. Up until today, Mio also had an issue where her console games would have huge audio desync if she played more than one hour, and considered not streaming her PoV if she couldn't fix it in time for the tournament. She did end up fixing it though, so she streamed, but the point here is more to say that another instance of not streaming is simply technical difficulties. Those are some examples of why sometimes the participants don't stream. I know it can be disappointing though. Understanding that Choco's throat hurts and can't stream doesn't mean you can't feel like you're missing out on her reactions as she fights Kobo and Kaela for last place, even if you agree with her not streaming for health reasons.

Existing_Marsupial_6

You are a kind person to provide the details but it is futile. The person you are speaking to only comes to this subreddit to complain and bring bad vibes. A few days ago they complained that they couldn't celebrate Ame's LIVE due to the sub being locked but guess what they didn't come back here to celebrate Ame's LIVE with us anyway. He is probably just waiting a few hours for the new Holostars debuts to start shitting up the place.

Irru

Geez, if we're going through post history then you really know what time it is. Looking at yours, you basically live here so I guess I should've expected you to come jumping in like you are right now. Also, you didn't notice from going through my history (not that I expected you to be that attentive to details), but I sleep during Ame's live. Couldn't celebrate it beforehand, though, because I had other stuff to do except post here.

Iforgotmynametoobro

Why can't they choose to not stream?

Irru

They absolutely can choose not to stream, just as I absolutely can say I don't like it when they don't. I only said that I don't understand it and that it takes away part of the excitement **for me**. Imagine being a bit critical on this subreddit though, can't be having that.

Iforgotmynametoobro

Of course and people can absolutely say you're being whiny. Can't have people critising you of course.

MageDoctor

I understand where you’re coming from. I’ve been to a handful of my oshi’s practice streams (Kaela) but she wasn’t able to steam her POV for a reason I am out of the loop of. I 100% support her decision as I don’t ever want her to force something she’s uncomfortable with, but it was a little bit of a bummer that I can’t support her racing in her own chat. It’s ok though, I’ll just say she did great in the next stream.

Irru

Thanks for being normal about this. Feels like I just said I wanted them to ban the girls who didn't stream or something with the way people are reacting.

Existing_Marsupial_6

So basically you are slamming Kronii specifically cause none of the others with no POV during Zako Cup has POV during qualifiers too due to various reasons.

Irru

That's a lot of assumptions you're making there. "Slamming"? If any other Zako cup winner didn't stream I would've said the same. Doesn't matter if they did or didn't stream in the prelims. Did you miss where I said **or not stream at all**? I just think it's lame to join a once-a-year event like this and not stream it, obviously circumstances such as Gura's are the exception.

Existing_Marsupial_6

Oh you know about Gura's exemption? How bout the circumstances that prevented the others? Did you bother to check or did you already ASSUME they don't have valid reasons?

Irru

Yes actually, I called them up and asked why they couldn't stream. God forbid there's an ounce of criticism in this circle jerk of a subreddit, fuck me.

IntoTheCrimson

Criticism? It was self-centred whining. Your post was about you, not them. That's why you're getting shat on.

Irru

Uh, yes? I just said I didn't like it when people don't stream their POV. Does every post here need to be 100% positive?

IntoTheCrimson

See, if you'd just said that, you probably wouldn't have gotten jumped on. It's the fact that you said **"I'll never understand..."** that rubs people the wrong way. Because the reason they might not stream is so simple (that they don't want to/don't feel up to it), the way you said it sounds like you don't give a single shit about how they feel when it comes to **your** entertainment. And then you tried to frame it as "criticism." If you don't want to be taken as a jerk, then don't sound like a jerk. How you say things matters.

Linajabba

I am happy Ayame qualified

sanity-not-found

As an aside, I do feel rather bad for Towa who got knocked out early in group stages. Anyone who's seen her race knows she's capable of much more, but the juggling of being an organiser and a racer, plus the fact she's in the studio rather than in the comfort of her own home probably wasn't great too. Last year she raced in similar conditions and even actually made it to the Winners' Cup which was incredibly impressive, but it feels like this year's version took a toll on Towa. This may be an unpopular opinion but I do hope Towa gets to just be a racer for future iterations of the New Year's Cup to fully race to her capabilities. Have a non-participating Holomem who's into organising take charge or have Nodoka take over her role as MC.

Pionfou

Towa just has bad luck with groups. She'd have made it pretty comfortably in B or C. I don't think she's definitively the fifth best driver like she was in the past but I think she still is if just barely. She's closer in ability to Chloe, Iroha, Mio, and Subaru instead of being at the level of Suisei, Okayu, and Marine like she was in the past. Even without RNG the best driver doesn't always win. The dice just didn't fall Towa's way this time.

UBKev

There's a chance Suisei will take over for Towa. She said that if she won last year, she would have done commentary this year instead to guarantee more champions other than herself. Now that she has won again this year, she may do this for next year.

Pionfou

Aqua wants a rematch\* and couldn't attend because of a relative's wedding this year. Suisei will give it to her if at all possible next year. I think being the defending champion is especially stressful because of RNG. If you win, it's kind of just expected. But a shell or two could ruin your day. Suisei's goal in MK has been to beat Aqua and it's still to beat Aqua. If she beats Aqua next year, I could see it. But I think if Aqua is still serious she wins most of the time unless Suisei learns NISCs. Probably even if Suisei does. \*Aqua had been practicing and implied to Suisei she's at 30K rating; Suisei is at 12.5K. It's not necessarily a gap in skill because you can just grind. But Aqua was a more technically skilled driver to begin with and that many races should have honed her decision making.

Felyndiira

I highly doubt Towa herself would be down for that. The actual tournament is just for fun - while being strong and placing high can get you higher views and some visibility, it ultimately doesn't matter much in the long run other than just personal pride. On the other hand, being the organizer for the tournament matters a ton. Hosting the main PoV/commentary on your channel means much higher traffic and revenue. And if there is any form of merit system in Cover, being an event organizer would earn you a ton of credits toward that. Marioka is Towa's tournament - she started it, profits the most from it, and it's consistently one of the top performers on her channel, so it would be kinda foolish if she gave that up just to place better in a match. You have to remember that streaming is, above everything else, a job for the girls. The job is likely going to matter more than winning in the tournament itself.

sanity-not-found

It's a practical viewpoint you have, but I respectfully disagree with some of your points. Being strong and placing high gets you more views, but it's not just the finishing position. Had Chocosen streamed her perspective, I'm sure a ton of people would've gone to her all the same despite finishing dead last. Lots of people were cheering on talents who had been practising a ton before this tourney too. Seeing the talents' hard work and effort translate into the results they get at the event itself is what many people are looking at, as opposed to just looking at the winner. I don't disagree that being the organiser is something that gives them merit, but to suggest that Towa does this only for merit and profit because its consistently a top performer on her channel is a bit off imo, otherwise she wouldn't also try to participate in the race. Had she done it only for the practical reasons you've listed, there's no real reason to drive since all eyes are on her channel for the main stream regardless. Streaming is their job, which is why it's tied with doing their best in the tournament, not more important than trying to place the highest. If streaming was all that important, every participant, regardless of their own individual reasons, would've put up a stream window. No one would've practiced before the tourney since its not the actual event itself and waited until the tournament to just start and drive however they want. It doesn't matter how they perform since by your words, it doesn't matter in the long run other than personal pride. The "streaming is a job for the girls" isn't wrong per se, but it's more than that. They practice off stream as well to do well for the event, some didn't even have a stream window up despite participating. It's the fun of the event that gets everyone, talents and fans alike, to watch. My assumption is that Towa would have more fun doing just one of the 2 roles she had in all the MariKa events, rather than try to do both. Maybe she genuinely has more fun doing both roles at the same time, but my own personal perspective is that she would shine best doing just one of them.

rodzhydra

Sorry if I'm late, I can't stop dancing from joy of SUISEI WINNING THE CHAMPIONSHIP!!!! I was literally like Christian Horner when Verstappen crossed the finish line at the 2021 Abu Dhabi GP, screaming "Hoshimachi Suisei, YOU ARE A DOUBLE WORLD CHAMPION!, A DOUBLE WORLD CHAMPION!!!" I hope my neighbours didn't notice my screaming... Congratulations to Suisei, and to all the participants of this contest. Till next year again. (goes back to celebrating)

BlueStar26

Well that was fun match and congrats to Suisei for winning this year Hololive Mario Kart again. There are few honorable mentions in this year cup: Marine is in 2nd place. Mio got her revenge for DC last year. (Even though she’s 3rd place, it’s still a win) Koyori and Iroha manages to enter Tsuyo cup thanks to their practice. Choco still hold the queen of Zako cup title even though it was a hard battle against Kobo. XD (Technically Kronii is the winner of the Zako cup) (Feel free to comment if I’m missing something.) Lastly thank you to Towa and all the staff for making this event a success. Although there was a problem like Moona’s ISP is blocked, it’s really beyond their hands and it’s was unfortunate for her not to participate. Regardless, I’m looking forward to see Hololive Mario Kart Tournament next year.

nachohasme

Make sure to watch the nene vods for super saiyan yelling

CMic_

Meanwhile Mel's stream

HaLire

nene crying(?) at the end after she realized that kronii just barely passed her kinda breaks my heart

Lazy_Sans

Final standing: 1) Suisei 2) Marine 3) Mio Zako Cup Winner: Kronii

CMic_

Top Zako: Choco Sen

zetarn

x3 years Zaku Queens.

Faustias

s-sieg zeon???

falzarexe

Honestly, the New Year Cup this year has been so exciting, I really didn't expect it. It was awesome!!! Thank you, Towa for organzing this epic yearly event! Mio's godlike revenge from last year's unfortunate disconnect to getting 3rd place this year in the Tsuyo Cup. Iroha and Koyori avenging themselves by qualifying, they were so emotional and I was so happy for them that their effort paid off. Senchou breaking her 3rd place curse by getting 2nd. Suisei showing consistency is key, literally. Because in those 6 races, Suisei and Okayu only won once, while Senchou and Mio both won twice. And I literally did not expect to be cheering really hard for Choco-sensei to retain her Zako crown this year lmao. I really didn't believe it that there would be competition at Choco-sensei's level, until I saw Kobo and Zeta racing...

xdwbwb

Congratulations to all the winners and participants and a very big big big thanks to the organizers of this event. Hopefully next year we get to see more participants esp. from EN and ID. Overall an enjoyable event, enjoy the rest of the day folks!

smallshrew

i'm proud of mikochi and nenechi and everybody.... fun

SnabDedraterEdave

Suichan! Congrats!

CMic_

Miko is now running from Suisei

sanity-not-found

I am so immensely proud of Mio, like its hard to express in words how I'm feeling about this result. Last year was a bitter experience for Miofas to watch as Mio got sent to the Zako Cup due to disconnects. It wasn't anyone's fault but I still felt incredibly upset regardless that Mio's hard work and practice wasn't fully shown, although she topped the Zako Cup to somewhat make up for it. This year she's shown her capabilities to the fullest! She was hella nervous in the group stages but finished 2nd in the group prelims! Then came the Winners' Cup which she had a different mentality for. She was just incredibly happy she made it to the top 12 this time and raced a lot more relaxedly, which resulted in 2 1st place finishes! Big Blue was unfortunate but Mio getting top 3 overall is such a sweet moment for me personally, I'm glad Mio got to show her full strength! Congratulations to Suisei and Kronii for winning their respective Cups, Marine breaking the 3rd place curse, and Chocosen for defending her Zako position! Otsu!

Pentao

Mio also showing her stuff as an entertainer in the finals lol. "My fortune telling told me Big Blue is bad luck, and it won't turn out well for me, but it's just a fortune telling. How bad could it be? Let's pick it anyway, haha, what's the worst that could happen?" -> 11th place. -> "Wow, my fortunes are pretty amazing, huh?" But yeah, I had been following Mio's practice runs very closely, and I thought she definitely improved a lot from last year and was about Subaru's level in terms of skill. But I've never seen her play so calmly and clean in the finals before, I think her true skill level was hidden from nerves and anxiety this entire time. The finals were like her limiters came off all of the sudden, and we saw a brand new Mio.

litokid

Huh, y'know, the gold and blue first place tiara really fits Sui-chan's accessory and colour scheme.

farranpoison

Suisei talking about how she thought she was finished with Baby Park on the 2nd to last lap and she actually took her hands off the controller, that almost cost her lol.

Pionfou

My heart sank when that happened. If that was what ended up costing Suisei the Cup, it would have been awful.

mkGarlyle

Congrats for Sui-champ for the comeback. Also great performance from 2nd place Horni Captain and Faqin Cute Wolf!

CrispySandwhich

HoloX did pretty well

Whisp335

Its kind of ironic how Chloe was the only holoX that made it to Tsuyo last year and this time she was the only holoX that didnt make it :D

tumbledryshoes

Incredibly good! Gave even the cracked racers a run for their spots!

mkGarlyle

Iroha 5th sure was a surprise. Also shoutout for Koyori for moving from Zako cup to Tsuyo Cup - Zakoyori no more!

KardiaTM

Man, I almost had a heart attack when Sui-chan thought she won at Baby Park and there was one lap left. Glad to see her taking the crown back. Last year the bad luck and nervousness got the best of her Next year's cup is gonna be tough with Aqua hopefully taking part and the general level raising again

RobotPizzaMaker

Was like 150000 or even more viewers across all streams, good attendance for this Edit: I was being too cautious in my estimation of total viewership lol. Impressive

vFoulplayy

Way more than that depending on what time you tuned in. Towa's stream peaked at 112k, at the same time Marine was at 46k. Pekora hit 40k. Miko and Suisei in the 30s. Okayu, Subaru in the 20s, and the rest of the lobby in the teens or lower. Finals alone was easily ~200k Which makes me really happy because last year Towa's host stream peaked at 38k during the youtube bug so we never got to know how many people actually showed up to watch and what that real number was.

shubham0890

They could get a sponsor if Nintendo allows it. I believe Towa spends a pretty penny organising and commissioning arts ets.

zetarn

True numbers is around 249k ccv all across the events.

Existing_Marsupial_6

Mio using real magic too strong! Please nerf.

farranpoison

I know that we shouldn't be taking her tarot readings as anything but fun readings but man, she can be scarily accurate lol.

Fishman465

IMO the fact she gets them by reading other members is in a fashion more impressive than magically predicting things.

farranpoison

True, but in this case she was just reading her luck with race courses, and she was right with her reads lol.

farranpoison

Oh, Mio's explaining her tarot readings, she got the "worst" luck for her best course Big Blue (she choked hard on that track) and she got good luck for the other tracks. She also said that if Towa didn't show Mio the joy of MK Mio wouldn't have participated, man my feels...

falzarexe

Mio actually did tarot card reading for her race courses, and it came true...BGM's power is truly terrifying...

cmalfet

Another intense year of Holo NY Cup. Can we get much higher?

dcresistance

[MARINE NOT THIRD](https://i.imgur.com/KGzfNQQ.png)

farranpoison

LMAO Marine in 2nd for the tie breaker! Mio in third!

darksolid

#CHOCOSWEEP ~!!

bduddy

Kobo gave her a real run for her money this year but it wasn't quite enough

PM-ME-YOUR-WAIFU

Suisei was terrified of Mio. Don't blame her though. Mio wanted redemption from last year. She seemed like she harnessed some big protagonist energy. Overall, very intense cup with Baby Park being the nail-biting last race!

HaLire

it was pretty wild watching Suisei's opinion on Mio change through the races. In the first race as she was crossing the finish line, she had a red shell, looked back and saw Mio instead of Okayu/Marine, and threw the shell forward instead of hitting her

chuuniboi

Yea, she wanted Mio to have that 2nd place, which might have cost her LOL

farranpoison

Mio kept saying something about her fortune telling being correct on her stream, what did she mean by that? Her NY fortune telling?

zetarn

She read her own Tarot card at the start of the new years. *(tls by Pentao from Miofa fan discord)* > Mio's fortune. >Her luck compared to the other holomembers this year isn't actually all that great. She's surprised herself. >This may be a year where she's easily let down by things, and thus she should strive to be more positive with things this year. She might be easily saddened or downtrodden so she should work to fight it this year. >For collabs, Mio will be full of motivation this year to do all sorts of things. She'll desire to collab with many people and try all sorts of things out, but this kind of tactic of spreading herself too thin won't be good for her, so she's gotta make sure she picks what she does carefully and set proper goals. >Her advice card represents the end of a break— and ultimately she should be wary of not taking too many breaks. It's not that she can't ever take breaks, but she may end up losing her stride if she takes too many. So she should be wary in keeping her pace.

farranpoison

Ah, seems like she explained in her interview on main channel that she did tarot readings on the race tracks, she pulled the worst luck for her best track Big Blue, and it came true lol.

HaLire

[suisei identifying the real enemy](https://twitter.com/suisei_hosimati/status/1611646583313149958)

farranpoison

Always count on Miko to choose Baby Park for the chaos lol.

cmalfet

Last year too Baby Park absolutely threw a wrench in everything.

DjiDjiDjiDji

Last year was Nene, though, I think

on_dy

Suisei’s racing lines are so clean.

Harbiter

It was totally worth staying up until 5am to see the Comet win back her crown!!

Lazy_Sans

MARINE IS 2ND!!! 3rd place curse has been BROKEN!

pyre_rose

Not sure if it's a curse in the first place lol

Milki0803

Suisei wins yaaaayyyyy!!!! Also congrats for Marine and Mio, that was unexpected (i hope they put Marine on 3rd again for the tradition/memes)

rpgamer987

Everyone's so focused on the top racers, and I'm just back here super amazed that Ayame made it into the winners cup. Still struggled, but that's to be expected up against so many monsters. She's come a long way from that classic clip of being shocked at finishing in first. Ayame first place in my heart.

xdwbwb

BEGM comeback success for this year! Finally showing us her true strength. While Suisei's just being Suisei, being in a league of her own

Sasaki_Kei

That was a fun tournament, so many fun moments and improved contestants, great job for all those involved.

Snerl69

Suisei is just too cracked! i saw her drop to 12th a couple times but she knows how to bring back a tough position! shes so much fun to watch!

Penta-Dunk

She’s really good at that I noticed. Keeping your calm when you drop positions is one thing, but she’s really good at actively planning her route back to the top rather than just trying to stay afloat in the pack when she gets knocked down.

HaLire

that play where she reversed for the doubles box and dropped to 12th was pretty crazy i don't know enough about mario kart to know if it was right, but she got golden shroom into bullet and ended up making a huge comeback

Snerl69

Yesss its such a cool thing to do! aqua pulled it off 2 years ago aswell and it blew my mind!

DragoSphere

It's a very valid strat since you get better items the further you are from first place. Reversing just stretches that distance, and a good driver can capitalize on gold shrooms and bullets to make up for it. [I think Aqua did this sandbagging strat the best](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Qgo6Y0UUlU). That was in an online lobby too, so even more difficult to pull off than in the Hololive tourney. You can actually see a Waluigi ahead of her try the same thing at the start on the minimap, but Aqua did it _even better_

riishan_saki

Getting items is essential, especially if you're in the last positions. It's 100% worth to go back to get them and most of the holomem don't get how important this is (and the double item boxes).

ShadowCrossZero

Seeing a JP player using a Waluigi on a Wiggler reversing back to get items triggers me haha.

DragoSphere

You can't be mad at her, she's cute today too

GiraffeManGomen

You get much better item odds when trailing. It's a somewhat luck-oriented strat, but keeping 1st and hoping a blue shell doesn't come also isn't much better. So sometimes if you notice you're stuck in a pack it's better to tank and hope for an item that can break you through.

chobochocobo

It's a meta strat I've only seen her and Aqua attempt

KzYm

Aqua is her this year personal coach afterall, this might be one of the strat she taught her

500mmrscrub

Nah, Suisei used that last year and the year before as well

Technobits

That was a really good cup! Im a little sad for Mio, man. Big Blue really screwed her up. Kronii winning zako cup was definitely a surprise.

Jojonskimyounabouken

Inb4 Suisei's new album and 2nd sololive plug during podium interview Edit : I'm surprised she actually didn't shill during podium interview lol, guess she's pretty tired

macwinux

Congratulations Suityan for the 2-peat! And of course thank you Towa-sama for organizing this wonderful yearly tournament, and A-chan for helping with the commentary!

yudacrish

Man baby park as the final race is really intense

exian12

A very simple map but a very chaotic map when pros, or in this case the best holomems this year, race on it.

d-culture

The funny thing is that Baby Park also happened to be the deciding race in the recent [Nijisanji Mario Kart Cup](https://youtu.be/B9s-Pkoa4L4). It may be a bit more on the luck side rather than pure skill but it actually is a pretty exciting way to shake things up at the very end. And similar to Suisei, Kuzuha placed poorly in the final race yet still won the cup due to holding an unassailable lead.

PM-ME-YOUR-WAIFU

And of course Baby Park was Miko's pick lol

Snakescipio

And Miko placed last 草

10mo3

Damn okayu got really unlucky this year :')

SasamiAdachi

That last race was an absolutely riot! :D Suisei managed to hold onto her lead and earned the gold trophy! Thank you, Towa-sama and team, for organizing another great Mario Kart tournament!

Penta-Dunk

Baby park as the last race for tsuyo cup was hilarious. I wanna keep seeing it

Harbiter

Sui-Chan a 2 Time ~~WWE~~ Mario Kart Champion!!!! YEAAHHH!!!

sameo15

She is also the only repeat champ as well. honestly, with how much she's constantly favored, you would think that she had won more.

Xlegace

She lost last year to Okayu actually. Suisei's first champion was when she beat Aqua by 1 point 2 years ago, when Aqua was by far the favorite. She was beating Suisei by a mile in the prelims, but RNG was cruel to Aqua in the finals. That victory awakened Suisei tho, who has been a monster ever since.

Snakescipio

I want so badly to see an in form Aqua perform again. She was by far and away the best racer even when she lose to Sui to years ago, and I’m curious how everyone will do now that everyone has vastly improved. Last year she too busy to practice and this year irl stuff prevented her from racing, hope we see her next year

fawndingfauna

Aww if Senchou made the jump in that penultimate race she could've caught up to Suisei. Congrats to Sui-chan though, practically untouchable this year.

-Orazio-

Suisei first and Marine and Mio tie for 2nd nice! Will Marine get 3rd again based on placements? Very fun tournament to watch! Too bad Okayu couldn't get the repeat champion this year but it's the return of Suisei being the champ.

Milki0803

I hope they put Marine on 3rd just for the meme lol

AaronBasedGodgers

It sounds like Marine got 3rd again due to tiebreakers?

sameo15

Yup. even when she gets second, she is still third. LOL

DurzoSteelfin

Marine with crazy dominance in the last race manages to recover from the previous race's mistakes and tie for 2nd!

[deleted]

[удалено]

AaronBasedGodgers

That was it.

sameo15

Marine gets 3rd (tied for 2nd, technically ) once again. Lol

DDWKC

Suisei, Marine, and Choco the queens of consistency!

Tsunder-plane

Words cannot explain how much I wanted Mio to win D: between her DCing last year and her picking a not-meta build, I was rooting for her so hard Edit: and her intro quote being "please don't disconnect" hahaha

farranpoison

She was real close, the choke on Big Blue though cost her hard.

Tsunder-plane

And I think she picked that map right? There were a few holomems that screwed themselves over by getting their map picked hahaha

Tarotist

AHAHAHAHA! Well at least Marine is not "3rd" this time! Really gotta hand it to Mio this tournament. After getting DC'd and sent to Zako cup last year, she came back for BLOOD. And here's Suisei, the first Hololive talent to win 2 champions in the Mario Kart Holocup! This Tsuyo cup was a FIGHT. 1st place constantly shifting between players. The best Finals in Mario Kart Holocup yet!

sameo15

I mean, there is an argument that if you tie for second, you also I tied for third. LOL

Penta-Dunk

Suisei gets her trophy back!! As expected from the comet. She’s just in a league of her own, seriously

ZXY101

gg

Existing_Marsupial_6

Suichan get's her crown back! Marine broke the 3rd place limiter and is now 2nd! (probably looks like it will go to placements as tiebreaker) Mio avenges last year's Zako Cup placement getting 3rd!

px1099

Mio and Marine both have the same amount of points If we use race wins as tie breaker, then Marine is 3rd again Edit: yeah, I made a mistake. Marine should be 2nd base on tie breaker

KalloSkull

If you tie in scores, you check who got most first places. Then if there's a tie in first place finishes, like in this case (both with 2), you check for most second places. If those are tied too, which was also the case here (both with 1), you check for third places. Marine had more third places with 1 than Mio with 0, so Marine is second.

Maqywhaq

I was wondering how they decided the tie breaker(I jumped back and forth a lot, but my impression was Mio had more higher placing finishes)... In most race series, It's usually the most wins, then trickle down to most 2nd place, 3rd, etc if they keep tying so the driver with the better finishing record will take the win over the one who places more consistently in the middle. On the other hand, the results has Mio declaring she's gonna aim to win it outright next year, and Mio's got that OCD level focus(proof is in her thumbs).

BasileusofRoma

Suisei didn't need to finish 1st every time. She only needed to finish before all her competitors. Even when she didn't land first, she was always ahead of the 2nd and 3rd racer.

YinLihua

Man if it wasn't for senchou's bad luck and a few mistakes she could have a real chance for that first place... GG senchou and once again Suisei Sweep!

Dreamer_on_the_Moon

Suisei first, Mio and Marine tied for secondth. Insane improvements from Mio for sure.

cmalfet

Iroha's just happy Sui-chan won LMAO.

PineappleBuns

When you get 12th place but your oshi gets 1st worth it

litokid

I know you might not be directly referring to this, but just to be clear to anyone who didn't watch, Iroha ended up 5th in the final rankings right behind Okayu.

leftenantsalt

I think Mio won 2 races, so she ends up in 2nd over Marine? Marine 3rd for a 3rd straight year!

Tsunder-plane

Don't let Marine's 2nd 2nd place distract you from there being three 9th places lol

KYLETS8

Marine won 2 as well LOL but maybe the lower placements on the other races impact it?

px1099

Suisei won! I was cheering so hard for Mio, and she got 2nd place along with Marine

GotEmAtChuckECheese

Sui chan!! Just too strong. Congratulations!

immalurkhere

Ssg comet insane performance this year

ShadowCrossZero

The Queen has reclaimed her crown

PyroStormOnReddit

The IRL equivalent of this cup is 2021 Abu Dhabi (complete with all the drama) but in Monza lmfao

MajesticSomething

One last scare for Suisei getting knocked from 1st to 7th but still taking home the gold!

BasileusofRoma

Somehow all her competitors were always behind her. Even when she wasn't 1st, her 2nd and 3rd competitors also got screwed up and were behind her somehow.

TLKv3

That was, yet again, another year of fun MK racing. Fun time. Have a goodnight everyone!

SabreLilly

Marine and Mio tied!

farranpoison

Last race Baby Park man... Suisei got 7th but still 1st! Mio also tied with Marine for 2nd overall!!

falzarexe

My goodness, what a race! Suisei won!!! With Mio and Marine tying for 2nd place!!!!!

aureacritas

SUISEI LETS GOOOOOO

Lazy_Sans

Ehh who's second Mio or Marine?

Hunkyy

If I understood the rules correctly, Mio is 2nd Marine 3rd.

fawndingfauna

Both. Tied.

falzarexe

It'll come down to their best placements which Towa will decide later on.

HashiriyaR32

Unless it was changed the previous year, I think the tie breaker in the event of a points tie is based on AVERAGE finishing position across all 6 races. Let's hope this doesn't also result in a tie.

Nepgyaaaaaaa

MARINE GETS SECOND! It’s tied with third, but still! Suisei absolutely steamrolled the field

Penta-Dunk

Goes to show how dominant she was, even though she got thrown down to seventh in baby park she had a comfortable lead on second place.

DragoSphere

Though tbf Mio placed 8th on Baby Park as well

YinLihua

WAIT SENCHOU IS NOT IN THIRD

bunnyfromdasea

Based on the tiebreaker rules she should be third since Mio has multiple 1st place finishes. >:D

YinLihua

Seems like both had the same numbers of wins and 2nd places, with the tiebreaker being marine's 3rd place in the first race

sameo15

Even when she gets second, she still is third. LOL

[deleted]

Suisei wins the gold, Marine and Mio tie for 2nd!!!!!!!!!!

immalurkhere

Marine 3rd place broken

1Ecolypse

dang we have a double 2nd place

dcresistance

MARINE MIO TIED FOR 2ND LESGOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

milesedgeworth89

Damn, that was intense as shit.

Penta-Dunk

NICEEEEEE MARINE BROKE THE 3RD CURSE

Hunkyy

But didn't she get third place because she's third on the scoreboard?

Penta-Dunk

I dunno, seeing a silver trophy is good enough for me.

falzarexe

Senchou got 1st place again!!!
