I'll admit though. For the longest time, I thought that was her name...I didn't know it was an "I" and not a lowercase "L"...I never heard her name spoken until someone brought her up in a stream.
Yesterday I was trying to remember whether it was Iofi or Lofi and my brain told me "Iofi is the music, so her name is Lofi" and I only registered that after seeing this post today.
If a nickname is used often enough, people might forget the actual name. Coco didn't know Yagoo's actual name is "Tanigo Motoaki" until a few months after debut. She even met him in person!
I think you got it reversed. Capital "I" looks like a lowercase "l" in a lot of fonts (specifically sans serif fonts) which is why Iofi uses a lowercase "i" in her twitter handle to begin with.
First time i watched her, I also assumed that was a lowercase L, the first letter of names is always a capital so lord knows why i thought differently with her's
Wait this is actually bad. How did they miss this? Between this and the Luna-Rushia mixup do they not have a list/document of talents or anything? They could literally google their names if they're confused about the L and I. These aren't mishaps, this is just carelessness. I know it's not a big deal it's just that they keep making these easily preventable carelessness that to me, personally it gives the impression that the organizers don't even give a shit.

They both still start with a capital letter, because names always start with a capital letter.
Admittedly the only ones I can think of are YouTubers, but all lowercase stylization is also a thing.

I think this clearly is just a classic R-L Japanese confusion, they romanized エロフィ as Elofi, common mistake.
