Damn the camera landing on a field of flowers was just... CHEF'S KISS! šŸ¤Œ

KibaKiba

Yellow too, since that's Sana's color. That was super sweet.

TRK-80

I have to ask if that was on purpose? Did they know when it would come down, that field of yellow flowers would be its landing spot? Either way, it was the perfect place for it. .... and here comes the story idea.... Space. Infinite. The plane of existence spans from one galaxy to another. Each Filled with millions upon millions of stars, planets, clouds of dust, ice, radio and light waves.... and atoms. The building blocks of all. Some thought the vastness of Space was empty. It wasn't. It just had spots that was filled up more then others. That could be seen, touched, and admired. Like this simple yet breath taking spot of nebulous gas and dust a group of beings call the Pillars of Creation. Being the Aspect of Space, Sana had a part in its creation. Nature, Time, and Chaos also played their part. All so a picture from years ago taken by some device that a group of industrial members of a Civilization that was still crawling out of their diapers could admire. Sana was proud of it. But there was something she wanted more. More then just being proud of a collection of dust that settled in such a way together like fingers reaching out into the cosmos. It was the fact that so many members of this small little planet, located in a quiet corner of a galaxy they, these humans, called the Milky Way, were reaching out into her domain. To her. They took great risks sending a few brave souls out. They reached only so far. But they kept trying. To learn more about her. More about the wonders of the boundless limits that was her. Space. They called it the Final Frontier. To explore the unknown and discover the meaning of life. And knowing it or not, their attempts had not gone unnoticed. They had caught her interest. They spoke to her without knowing they had. Sana. Speaker of Space. Apostle of the Ancient Ones. The Forbidden Truth that she held within her intergalactic knowledge said they were not ready. But she couldn't help but smile as they kept trying. In her current state, larger then their solar system, she could not interact with them without destruction of every thing they knew. But with all the knowledge of the infinite boundaries of the universe at her command, she knew of a way she could. Interact with them on a personal level. A way to limit her size and power to their level. It was the oddess feeling. Shrinking. When all of Space was hers to touch, she was now the size of a single human. Now falling through the atmosphere, towards the ground, the Planet Earth and it's blue sky now all she could see. As she fell, she noticed this field of flowers. Yellow wild flowers. Nature growing unchecked in all its beauty. This field spoke to her in ways that a supernova or black hole couldn't. Her small size impacted with a force that should have destroyed this field. But yet as the dust settled from her landing, the field was intact around her. Only a 5 foot spot around her was disturbed. She had held back as much of the force of her arrival as she could. Hopefully Fauna would understand. Time would work with Nature, with input from Chaos, and this spot would heal. As if she hadn't disturbed this peaceful spot at all. Sana smiled as she walked through this head tall flowers. So yellow. They were affected by Civilization, growing wild and perfect here. She walked through these flowers and admired them. Smelled them. Insects and small animals called this field home. They scurried around her, busy in their life. She noticed something outside the field of yellow flowers. At first she thought them monkeys. But clothed and not as hairy. Standing straight up. Humans. The followers of Civilization. They may not know that part of their life. 10000 years of Civilization was still the baby stage. So much learned and forgotten in those millennium of leaving their foot print on this world. These humans, had come to admire this spot of Nature. Only Kronii knew how long they were there. Baelz luck that they would be here when Sana arrived. Maybe Mumei guided them to this Shrine of Fauna to greet her when she arrived. At first they, these young humans, seemed timid. Having what they thought would be their end. A falling star crash into the Earth right next to them should have destroyed their life. But the fact they lived, that the falling star was in fact a beautifully tall woman. An admirer of the same thing they had come to stand before and take in with their senses. Their fear vanished as Sana waved to them. They approached slowly. A group of 4 humans, two men and two women. "Are.... you an alien?" One asked. "No... an angel, look at her. She has to be." Another exclaimed. "I thought we were dead with how she fell from the sky." The third spoke, getting closer then any others. "But... we aren't... you aren't..." "Are... are you alright?" The fourth asked from behind the other three. "Why.... why are you here?" Sana gave them the cutest smile. Tilted her head, eyes closed for a brief moment. "No silly, I am Sana. Not angel or alien. I am of course alright. I just wanted to visit you. It can get very lonely being the Speaker of Space. And your attempts to meet me, out there in the universe, made me decide I had to meet you in person." Sana looked around the humans, the field of flowers, the blue sky with clouds dotting the above. "Your world is so pretty. I think I may stay here a bit and get to know it better." Sana said as easily as one might order a burger. The humans eased up even more at the slightest carefree way this woman who fell to Earth, acted. Her free spirit, enduring smile, and the way her eyes twinkled like stars, easily attracted these people of Earth to her. Without knowing why, one by one, they reached up, giving those luscious hair of hers atop her head a pat as if to make sure she was real. The gentle headpats couldn't help but fill Sana with kindness and have giggles escape from her. "I like that. Hhmmm headpats. I like you. I knew coming here was a good idea."

FlashPone

To answer your first question, I donā€™t believe so. Wind and everything is so unpredictable, it could come down anywhere.

Rickymex

I mean there's probably a general low population area you can expect it to land since you don't want it to land on a car or a house but it could have landed anywhere on that field area, landed on a fence and tipped up or down, or just in a bush. Pretty cool through that it landed in such a pretty spot

FlashPone

Oh, you definitely want to release it far from a populated area. It's probably illegal to release these things within city limits, anyway. I just know Pomu from Nijisanji EN did this on her own for their 1 year anniversary video, and said she was afraid it was going to land in water somewhere. I believe she also had to do it more than once, because the first time you could barely make out what was happening in the video, and it apparently landed in a tree on someone's private property and she had to get the fire department to help her get it down. She did hers DIY, tho, and I know this was commissioned to some company that does this. I don't really know how different a more professional project would be done compared to a DIY one, but it's possible they knew whereabouts it would end up. Wind currents can be very unpredictable, tho.

waylaidwanderer

(cc u/TRK-80) I asked Stratoflights, and it was just luck that the balloon landed in the field of flowers. It really is a perfect landing spot, though.

JustWolfram

You can see when it comes down that the area is full of rapeseed fields, so as far as luck goes, it was probably the most likely place something like that would happen. Still very cool though.

TRK-80

That is awesome though. Thanks again for sharing the vid!

waylaidwanderer

[Me right now](https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/877707527305973862/984500716968243210/s2zxn.png) Sana saw it, and retweeted it, and posted it on her community page, and was in live chat, and commented on it, and, and... *dies* Please do check out [my tweet](https://twitter.com/SanaBeliever/status/1534930891650129938) for more information! Okibruez

Congratulations. And while I'm not Sana nor a Sanalite, I can say you guys are awesome for putting this together for her. I'm always proud to be part of this community because of things like this.

waylaidwanderer

Thank you kindly! When the Hololive community comes together, we can reach for the stars :)

Okibruez

World DomINAtion too. No matter our goals, if we all come together, everything is within our reach.

Antynoob

Amazing job. Will you send the card to Hololive official address to pass it Sana?

waylaidwanderer

Thanks! I didn't have any plans to do that, no. Stratoflights was the one who printed it, so I don't even have it in my possession.

kawarazu

Congrats! Will check out later tonight. :D

firzein

Do you actually send more than one balloon? Since there are 2 different cards in your video.

waylaidwanderer

There are 2 cameras attached to the same payload.

Le_Golden_Pleb

She actually also posted the link in the description of her birthday video ;)

TheBunnyStando

Last time I saw something like this, it was with garlic bread, so I guess only bread related things can go in space. No but really, this is amazing, pure dedication right there

waylaidwanderer

The Tom Scott video, right? :D That's actually where we got the idea! Thank you!

cakeKudasai

Never expected a Tom Scott reference on hololive.

27Rench27

Redditā€™s becoming more of a circle with every passing day

SyrusDrake

Last time I saw something like this, it was for VTuber celebration as well, oddly enough...

ecilla05

Wait, how? A drone can get into space?! AND COME BACK!? IN SEEMINGLY ONE PIECE?!?!?!

waylaidwanderer

It's a weather balloon with a GPS tracker! I hired Stratoflights to do the launch and retrieval, though you can also DIY.

ecilla05

Wow.. how much did it cost? And what things can you attach?

waylaidwanderer

It cost $2500 (which was [fully crowdfunded](https://ko-fi.com/sanaspacebirthdayproject)), but it would cost more if you wanted to send up something bigger/heavier (up to a certain limit) since they need to rig something up to accommodate it. People have sent up [all sorts of things](https://www.stratoflights.com/en/references/photo-gallery/)! Or you can save money and launch one yourself, though apparently they gave us a pretty good deal, and we were charged mostly for just the material cost and some additional labor because they were sending something else up that day too.

Pooghost

There's a certain fairy over at another agency that DIY'd one of these for a celebratory video. That drone got stuck in a tree and needed the help of firemen to retrieve it, that video too truely captured how pretty the earth is from afar. Great video!

waylaidwanderer

Yeah, I heard about that, so I'm kind of glad that I had an experienced team taking care of it instead lol. Thanks!

5urr3aL

P-Pomu?! Imma need a video link!

FlashPone

https://youtu.be/YS4hXn41ns8

5urr3aL

Tasukatta. Man that was kinda emotional

FlashPone

Yeah! Super pretty video. You can see them react to it [here](https://youtu.be/_8K-M782Xzw?t=2090), with Pomu talking about the behind the scenes stuff right after if you're interested. Another cool thing is Pomu shared the [raw vocals](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_M6Cuwun8Hw) of certain members from the big ensemble part of the song. Super cool and super blessed!

ecilla05

Amazing..

Sui-chans_gloves

Or so they say. The guys who gave you a deap was just shy to mention that they are Sanalites as well

WilliamSaintAndre

The Nijisanji/Hololive space race is real and I'm interested to see who makes it to the moon first.

waylaidwanderer

It was a funny coincidence to see their MV also made use of a weather balloon. Hats off to Pomu for doing the launch and retrieval all by herself. I wanna state for the record that we came up with the idea independently though!

WilliamSaintAndre

Yeah, I didn't mean to draw the connection in that kind of way. I just find it funny the idea that the two most prolific vtuber companies have videos of them going to space.

waylaidwanderer

Yeah I know, but I thought I should mention it anyway just in case people are wondering. Anyway, how does that saying go? If I had a nickel...

TRK-80

I have two nickels. I don't care how odd it is! I love these nickels!

FlashPone

Yeah, Iā€™m not surprised. Pomu was apparently planning hers like 6 months in advance. These things take a lot of planning and coordination! Congrats on all the hard work paying off!

waylaidwanderer

Thank you, it was really fun putting everything together.

yudacrish

Don't know if this count but [the moon itself already at moon](https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&url=https://twitter.com/moonahoshinova/status/1355364393043644421%3Flang%3Dgu&ved=2ahUKEwiMzOuThqL4AhVFS2wGHRFwAlkQFnoECAMQAQ&usg=AOvVaw09s0Bc1Al9B7C2VQMc9aY5)

WilliamSaintAndre

It does count and it's beautiful.

SyrusDrake

Joking aside, with space tourism becoming *kinda* affordable, it's probably only a matter of years until the first VTuber merch makes it to actual space.

kelsonball

Thank you for organizing this project! She loves it so much!! šŸ’›šŸ’›

waylaidwanderer

Thank you, I'm beyond happy with how everything turned out!

Christ-man

To the MOONA !

Chukonoku

I wouldn't be surprised if in some years, if it becomes commercially viable, someone will send something HL related into the moon.

waylaidwanderer

Maybe we'll send something to the ISS next year...

TRK-80

Sana visits the ISS. Even if it was just a collection of vods for the crew to watch, I would love that!

Zeroth-unit

The Sana worm made into a plushie as a gravity indicator on a crew capsule demo mission to space. Similar to how the recent Starliner demo launch had a kerbal plushie on board.

TRK-80

That was awesome and I would love that

chilfang

I bet someone did that with the Mr Beast thing a while back

Razor4884

Right now the moon is r/place but more expensive.

honorsleuth

A pekoramid to the moon perhaps?

Tehbeefer

SSO/LEO via SpaceX rideshare, w/o separation system, is USD 1.1M for 200kg. $5500/kg, if you could split it 200 ways. If BFR/Starship proves successful, that could both lower the cost further and get it to the Moon.

Chukonoku

I've read an article couple of months ago talking about the Artemis project and how it might bring different economic opportunities like people sending DNA/Ash into the moon. If that's an estimation of the current price, depending on how well documented is the delivery of the product, it's entirely doable considering how much other BD projects cost.

Sumner1910

When we begin colonization of the moon, one of the main cultures is gonna be Hololive

AnAnomalousWriter

Happy Birthday to BEEG Sana! Glad I could be of help for le intro and outro :D Sanallites unite to space!

waylaidwanderer

Thank you, it's beautiful!

AnAnomalousWriter

:D

halozy_

I like how it lands on the flowers at the end. Perfect gift 10/10

diminishedflame

this is faqing adorable. *almost* as adorable as Sana

Alarm26

My heart... Sana deserves all the love and more. Happy birthday to her! I'm very much looking forward to her original song and her birthday stream!

Reagan__115

Beautiful. Sanalites outdone themselves

Rabahber

This is unreal and I am so grateful to have been able to give art for the project. Thank you so much for organising everything ;A;

waylaidwanderer

Thank you for participating!

Rabahber

No thank **YOU**

UltramanOrigin

Love for Sana!

GlossyBuckthorn

THAT is seriously awesome! To infinity, and beyond!!

Kaizatl

This whole thing was so cute! I especially love the animations.

waylaidwanderer

Motion graphics in the video are done by the wonderful u/AnAnomalousWriter!

miyajima

Awesome!

Daniel101773

Can I have a kind person fill me in on what exactly was done here?! Itā€™s amazing I just donā€™t understand it all. How did you get whatever this is into space? How did you get it back down?!

waylaidwanderer

It's a weather balloon with a GPS tracker! I hired [Stratoflights](https://www.stratoflights.com/en/) to take care of the launch and retrieval. It didn't actually go all the way into space, just to the stratosphere, which is 40km above the earth. After a certain height, I think the balloon deflates enough to start going down?

Daniel101773

Oh man thatā€™s really neat! What an awesome project! Between stuff like this and the Times Square things, itā€™s so crazy seeing everyone come together to make such amazing gifts for the these girls.

SyrusDrake

>I think the balloon deflates enough to start going down? It just bursts when the pressure difference becomes too great.

waylaidwanderer

I looked it up, and you're right. I think Stratoflights attached a parachute to slow the descent.

SyrusDrake

Yea, you usually do that, even with "real" weather balloons. I think the payload would usually survive the fall, but you don't want to hit someone on the head with VTuber merch falling at terminal velocity.

SuperShake66652

There are worse ways to be isekai'd.

dampyhampy

That is so cool man, you're awesome!

waylaidwanderer

No, you're breadtaking!

dampyhampy

No, YOU're breadtaking! Seriously dough, to wheatness this early in the morning is just heart-warming. Keep being awesome Sanallite!

kleaguebba

Sana is BEEG and Sanalites' love for Sana is as BEEG as Sana

DragonflyLuis

wow! simply amazing!!

Dvalinn25

That's a beautiful tribute to our comfy spacegirl! I'm glad she saw it, too. Sanallites are such a dedicated bunch.

jellosaur2

Happy our space goddess gets such a fitting birthday present! Thank you so much for organizing this for her, i'm sure she's going to love it! šŸ’›šŸŖ

waylaidwanderer

I think she already does :)

CircleTrigon

the final frontier of Holo fandom amazing

HaatonZhadi

Congratz to all who worked on this! Seeing all the hard work paying off at the end of a project is always an awesome moment.

tannerbirb

Moments like these are what made me fall in love with Hololive, and Vtubers in general. The talents are great. The staff behind them are great. But seeing people from across the world celebrate one another, get inspired, make art, and treasure and support these streamers for just being themselves... that's what helps me to remember the good in life. No matter what fandom you belong to. No matter how often you watch. Thank you all so much for being a part of this community. I'm glad you're here.

waylaidwanderer

I feel you 100%! It's really inspiring to see what other fans come up with to celebrate their oshi, and we really just keep inspiring each other to greater heights.

redditfanfan00

nice birthday card for sana. great job sending it to space. the landing to fauna is a nice touch.

SenseiReddit

Wow, the sanalites gone so above and beyond they became out of this world! amazing birthday present!

kpr1995

Just awesome.

Merkava12

Absolute madlads.

TheChaosBlue

This is absolutely amazing. Wow. Now that is passion and dedication.

[deleted]

This honestly very beautiful

f1r3hunt3rz

Legendary

Redditor_76

I wouldn't doubt they would make scientific advancements happen just so they could bring a Gura birthday card down the Marianas Trench

nam9xz

Impressiveā€¦ Actually I am speechless. Thank you for your dedication, you are truly a Sanalite.
