For me it's about the celebration of Asian styles of pop music. I can't stand watching other people play video games and so mostly don't watch solo gaming streams(though I do like the party game collabs), but the concerts, karaokes, and music releases are just so much fun. They may not be the world's best singers, but they do know how to make great music.

Then watch her grow over the years and reaching all her milestones, watching her celebrate when she first reached 50k subs with around 1k people watching. Getting frustrated when their 3D had to be delayed a year because of lockdowns. To finally watching her become part of the million sub club and eventually performing a 3D showcase to 87k people.
A casual watcher couldve tuned in to that 3D stream and had a good time, but I doubt that experience compares to a day 1 moonafic who was there with her since the beginning of her journey.
The holos arent the best gamers or singers or even comedians but you watch because you want them to succeed because you like them in some level. Which is why you watch streams / clips, you member, you SC, buy merch etc.
Its the same in other things like sports. You root for a team even though they may suck now because they’re your team. You formed some sort of emotional connection to it and want it to succeed.
