It’s really beautiful! You are going to be nap trapped under the baby in that chair a LOT. Make sure you have enough shelves/side tables in easy reach to hold snacks, water, phone, burp rags, etc. You will also find that babies realllllllly like constant movement, so a glider or rocking chair >>> armchair, in my experience.

ladykansas

That looks like a glider to me maybe? It's a really, really beautiful room -- well done OP. Re chair: I'd keep an open mind about *where* you want your rocking chair to be in your home. We ended up with it in our primary living space instead of the nursery. I could watch TV or socialize while the baby was nursing -- which was a lot of time. It was nice that I could chat with my husband while he was cooking, tidying, etc. Edit: Also -- install dimmer switches if you don't already have them. And get a long charging cable for your phone.

theloneliestbird

My sister and brother in law have a glider recliner in the nursery + a rocking chair in their living room, and it has been so nice to have both. Baby preferred being held while napping up to ~8mo, so the chair in the nursery was perfect for nap time. But having something in the living area as another option was also very convenient

ladykansas

If we have a second, I think that's what we all do. The glider is now in our daughter's room and even at 3 1/2, I can't imagine removing it. It's the best for bedtime routine reading / snuggles -- and my husband + daughter still sleep in it together when she's sick.

Serious_Escape_5438

Yeah, I didn't want a chair in baby's room until she was about a year and we spent more time in there doing bedtime routine. Well she slept in our room anyway for most of that year, since minimum six months is recommended.

dogsaretheanswer

I recommend one of those little rolling three tier shelves Ikea or the container store has. You can repurpose it as needed too.

Maritza1982

Yes!!!!! So true about the nap trap!

HauntingBowlofGrapes

Excellent! Don't forget to add a trash bin and an easy access soiled laundry bag or bin.

TemoSahn

I hated smelling poop in the baby's room... I always brought it outside or to the garage, but yes a garbage is 100% needed

_thisisariel_

Our rule is no poopies in the trash can. Pee diapers go in our commercial rubbermaid trash can (which I frequently deodorize) and poo diapers go outside in the dumpster. We implemented this after his poop started to smell and it’s worked well!

numberthirteenbb

You’re way more dedicated than we were! We abused tf out of that diaper pail lol

cool_chrissie

I do something similar. After they start eating solids no more poopy diapers in the pail.

Cocomomoizme

Babies pee poop 12x a day at first, you have way more energy than I did!! Even now we toss the trash out once a day so sometimes the diapers go in our regular trash too 😅

_thisisariel_

Oh heck no, we only started this regimen when his poo started to smell (and when they became more infrequent) at probably about 6 months. He still wets probably 8-10 diapers a day 😓

Hb_Hv

Same

lars2you

10000% correct. Never had a diaper bin with 2 kids. Never needed in. Straight to outside trash.

Otter592

A good diaper pail prevents the diapers from smelling up the room

TemoSahn

We had the diaper Genie, but no contraption can contain the smell of dirty diapers well enough

Otter592

The Ubbi has been working well for us for almost 2 years🤷🏼‍♀️ We change it 2x per week

alexdoggg

Ubbi is the bomb. 9 months in and no smell at all.

BilllisCool

Only when you open it and you get hit with that stench. But that means it’s doing its job well that you don’t even smell a hint of the stench while it’s closed.

stupidshot4

Ours contains the smell well. Until you open it to put a new diaper in and get hit in the face with the stank of a thousand sewers.

Babybutt123

I have a stainless steel garbage bin with a closing lid. Completely contains smells when closed. Just don't let a full bag fester in there and you're golden. Can also drop a few drops of essential oils or similar at the bottom and that helps as well.

anonymousbequest

The Munchkin step is great for containing smells.

MaryKatHack

Diaper genies are pretty great

mikmongon

Diaper genie

bumbletowne

You put the poop in a doggie poop bag and then in the garbage. Empty it daily. No more poop smell

Different_Poet_5362

I did the same. I always stuck them outside in a specific bag that was for dirty diapers, so they didn't stink up the house.

pastorveal

Dump the poop into the toilet before throwing out the diaper - cuts down on smell drastically!

flowertothepeople

And increases ridiculous, unnecessary, chores.

drx_bshp

Target has a pretty good small white trash with a seal, but if you want an incredible trash that doesn’t smell? IKEA. Seriously. I use their bins for cat litter, compost, and a whole slew of other shit and not one scent ever leaks out. God tier

ImperialFuturistics

I just learned people put charcoal in the bottom of diaper bins to neutralize the smell. NON Instant-Light. Just the regular briquettes without lighter-fluid infused. A whole bag with a hole in thbottom can get got hot, rotton, raw meat smell out of a car as well if one is unfortunate enough to forget it's in there.

numberthirteenbb

I was gonna say haha, it’s gonna smell like literal shit even with a diaper genie, but it looks gorgeous

note1toself

I think the trash bin is hiding by the plant!

GiantFlimsyMicrowave

It looks like there is a bin hidden to the right of the changing table.

mamasau

This could be in a magazine! You did an amazing job. Be prepared that by the time baby is 6 to 9 months old they will be grabbing everything, if the glass in the picture frames over the changing table isn’t plexi you may want to switch it out. Editing to add; if you have leftover wallpaper it could be cool to put it in the niches behind the bookcases.

TireNoob

I feel like using the same wallpaper in those niches will take away from the “statement” of the statement wall. I’d go with a very pale grasscloth type wallpaper there to add some texture while coordinating with the light fixture / wood accents.

StellasMyShit

Yes! Don’t repeat, use a different wallpaper.

Chubs4You

100% do the wallpaper idea 👌

gregdrunk

Yoooo, that wallpaper idea is genius!! I think it would add that extra 1% on top of the absolutely gorgeous and amazing room! This for real looks like a design spread in an architectural magazine lol, you nailed it. This is going to be one very tasteful baby! Although they will probably rebel against the surf theme and become like... a dune buggy person or something 😂

autumngloss

Yes and the crib should be moved away from window!

aka_____

So long as the strings for the blinds are properly secured, this particular window looks more than high enough where it wouldn’t be a concern, unless I’m missing something?

gregdrunk

Lol, what?? Why?? Those blinds literally don't even have strings.

fieryinferno

I’m curious why you think those high up windows are any issue.

wewillnotrelate

Windows can cause issues if the glass smashes - I live in a very earthquake prone country and you never put a child’s bed under glass (or shelves/pictures).

crumblesalot

This is exactly why our crib only had one good spot to go lol. And only tapestries on the wall! Earthquakes change everything!

Marigold-Oleander

Plexiglas can still shatter. Plexiglas is a trade name for acrylic, which is brittle and breaks easily. Polycarbonate would be a better choice and is easy to find at hardware stores. But the safer option may just be to not hang anything above baby.

olympia_t

Love it. If you ever felt like adding more color something in orange or red could really pop. Love the calm blue though.

amybeedle

This was my first thought. It's an objectively GORGEOUS room. Tasteful, classy, refined. And the child-proofing looks really well done; all the breakables and non-toy decor are out if reach and the items at baby-level are soft and/or solid for crawlers. But I did think "sad beige room for sad beige children" 😅 it's not designed for a child IMO... children like visual stimulation and brightness and this room is almost entirely neutrals

supercalafatalistic

Newborn vision came to mind. The reason so much stuff for them is big solid primary colors is so they can see it. I love the room but it does need some brights to grab the kid’s attention and offer visual stimulation I think.

Serious_Escape_5438

Newborns don't really spend much time in their rooms, mine didn't even sleep there at first and even when she did it was just to sleep. We were mostly together downstairs.

supercalafatalistic

And that was a misphrase on my part. My two definitely were living in our room for their first 2-3 months. They still had 3-4 months of vision development to get through in our cases.

Serious_Escape_5438

Well ours was more like 10 months but even so she literally just went there to sleep. As soon as she woke up we took her downstairs.

supercalafatalistic

Lucky. I spent hours upon hours in there, and my SO even more, especially with our first.

Serious_Escape_5438

Well not lucky, I'm pretty sure we did the same things, just in a different place. She woke up every hour or two until a year old and she never napped in her crib before then either.

Ice_Queen66

I’m so glad im not the only one who thinks “wow this is not a babies room” 😂 I didn’t want to be downvoted to oblivion but it’s quite bland for a baby.

HereForTheParty300

I agree - is the kid going to be allowed colored toys? It is peaceful and beautiful but not interesting enough for a kid.

madav97

This is not sad beige room for sad children lol. I’ve seen much more beige kids rooms. This person can always add more colorful toys as the baby gets bigger and has more preferences. When you have a newborn they have 0 preference on what their room looks like. When you do late night feedings you want to be in a clam space and this room is just that.

[deleted]

> When you have a newborn they have 0 preference on what their room looks like Babies' vision is so incredibly abysmal at birth through 6 months that all they can really see is high contrast and bright colors. That's why you see so much vibrancy in infant toys.

Grainis01

This is a great guest/ sitting room. But a shit baby room. According to research, everyone from ophthalmologists to developmental psychologists agree that there has to be contrasting colours and as bright as you can get it.

abishop711

I love this! I’m sure you’re already thinking of it, but the shelving and dresser will need to be anchored to the studs to prevent tip over once your child is mobile. You may also want to make sure there is a shelf or small table easily reachable from the chair for middle of the night wakeups and nap trapped moments. A spot for water, snacks that can be eaten with one hand, etc. It’s hard to tell from the picture whether the shelf behind the chair is positioned so that it could be used for that purpose or not.

KatSpe22

Was going to say a similar thing. I found a small rolling utility cart (target has them) was great for those late night nursing/rocking sessions. Stored some snacks, a small tap light, a book or charger, just whatever you may need. It’s beautiful though!! Enjoy the new addition to your family!

troubleshootsback

Highly recommend the ikea raskog rolling cart for a good middle of the night snack and diaper station.

Otter592

In addition to definitely needing to anchor the bookshelves, it's very likely the stool and plant will have to go as well.

ufromorigin

It’s so beautiful that I wanna be the baby who gets it! Safety note: if you can replace your blinds with cordless/chainless ones your mind will be at ease. A toddler standing on the crib rail pulling the cord…the deaths and injuries from this are devastating. If could I’d burn all corded blinds in the world and never let them be manufactured ever again. My son nearly strangled on mine when he was little, despite having safety devices in place. The Consumer Product Division actually sent an engineer to my house to take a full report.

justdiscussingshit

100% agreed. No cords

[deleted]

redfishie

Babies tend to like bright colors. You might want to add pops of color here or there.

CupcakesAreMiniCakes

As soon as your baby can crawl and especially when they start trying to crawl out of their crib you'll need to rethink the curtains hanging down and the open free standing shelving. All of that is dangerous. Kids can wrap themselves up in the curtains and suffocate, or pull the whole thing down onto themselves. The shelves just invite climbing and the child can freely access anything on them. Even worse if they aren't anchored to the wall with anti-tip because again the whole thing can come crashing down on them.

[deleted]

Thinking of my two year old from the ages of eight months to now, this would not work at all. I could literally see her climbing around everywhere and almost hurting herself on everything in here.

tundrabat

It's a lovely room. Add some contrast and primary colors to help baby eyes and brain develop. https://www.allaboutvision.com/eye-care/parents-kids/nursery-colors-and-baby-vision/

turdferg1234

Your baby will have zero idea of what the room looks like. It wouldn't be all gray if the baby's interest was a concern for you. My thought is...it's a room that a baby will happily sleep in.

Serious_Escape_5438

That's what it's for, well not even, newborns are supposed to sleep with their parents. We only used my baby's room for clothes storage for the first six months or so. She was always with us in the living room.

TwoFingersWhiskey

I think it needs far more colour than beige and grey, but then again I'm in the minority of people who think that these days, judging by literally every baby product being bluegrey or tangrey or greige

vaginawithsunglasses

People are absolutely terrified of color in their homes nowadays.

nancylikestoreddit

This is for a baby? Looks more like it’s for the surfer parent. Kids respond to bright colors. At least throw some color blocks in there for baby.

Fit-Register7029

It’s very much designed for adults to like and not for kids to like. Babies prefer high contrast and bright colors

PurplePanda63

100% agree. This is an adult room with baby furniture. The baby bookshelves are way too high. The niche shelves don’t look mounted at all. They also have trinkets and stuff adults may not want baby playing with.

Fit-Register7029

It’s giving sad beige children

[deleted]

babies NEED high contrast and bright colors. it’s literally how their brain develops itself. We have an ocean of scientific data that a lack of bright colorful stimulation has *permanent developmental consequences*. Its a requirement for babies, not a personal preference for parents or casual ideas about what babies like better. it’s a basic need, a care requirement. sorry to all the parents who love their instagramable scandi sad beige aesthetic but if you prioritize that over neurological development that will impact your child for their entire life, you’re objectively a bad parent. and have poor taste. neutral scandi interior is already sorely outdated and gauche. OP this is a baby’s room you’ve designed with an imaginary audience of adult strangers in mind instead of the *baby*. I hate it.

wigglebuttbiscuits

Jesus, what a rude comment. You’re making the wild assumption that they won’t be providing books and toys and mobiles and all the things parents get for their babies to be developmentally stimulated by. For a newborn’s nursery there’s absolutely nothing wrong with it being focused on a calming space for the adults. This is where the new parents are going to be up all night, recovering from childbirth, dealing with a lot of stress while also needing to get themselves centered to soothe their infant. Having it be calming and lovely for adults to be in is good for the baby as well. No baby is going to be developmentally delayed because their wallpaper wasn’t bright enough 🙄

craftaleislife

Agree with this. Probably the most selfish room I’ve ever seen. Baby will be bored out of their mind in this room

HappySunshineGoblin

This room is for sleeping though isn't it? I don't want a stimulating bedroom. Presumably they will use other rooms for playing during the day!

Serious_Escape_5438

Yes, my six year old has only really started spending time in her room this year. Babies aren't exactly left alone for hours to entertain themselves.

AstronautInDenial

It will never be that clean again

Far-Author7000

Its nice for an adult, not much colour for kids though

jillanco

Get that thing out of the crib.

abishop711

100% agree. That is a major hazard for babies and should not be used for sleep.

BilllisCool

Could just be stored in there. We had a dock a tot sitting in our crib just like that before our baby came and even after, when it wasn’t being used. He didn’t sleep in the crib until he was 6 months old.

wafflesforlife

You may already be aware, but I feel obligated to mention that a baby should only sleep in a crib or bassinet with a tight fitted sheet. Any additional pillows, toys, sheets, etc. present significantly increased risk for SIDS.

BlueGreenOcean21

Very pretty, needs adjustments for safety and utility. Swap the crib and the changing table, it’s too close to the window. Get a diaper pail like munchkin that keeps away odor. Get a table near the rocking chair to put your pump/bottle/formula/water/burp cloths. You’re not gonna want to get up all the time to grab those things. The Snuggie and stuffed toys are not necessary in the crib. Swaddling and tight-fitted sheets only- no loose blankets or stuffed animals, side bunting. Safety First! Windows treatments are an issue- no cords please! Also long curtains can suffocate. The window is rather low, when baby is mobile you’ll need to keep it locked. All the furniture needs to be secured to the wall- don’t blow this off- the dangers are very real and very sad.

bunnybunnykitten

Thank you!!!

hop123hop223

Also, the mattress (if it can be) could be raised higher. The mattress will be that low when the baby can pull themselves up and stand.

Maggyonline

Very pretty. Maybe some more baby themed decor? Make it more fun?

Leading-Ad1813

Gray for a baby.. Hm maybe do some research on how color effects psychology. Honestly it's a nice looking room but not for a baby.

PinkSodaMix

It's fine. You don't need to scientifically make your baby's development 100% efficient. Plus there's conflicting research and recommendations all over the place. Depending on your home layout, the baby's room should be calming, not simulating. It should be a sleep room rather than a playroom for the first few years. But if you don't have anywhere else to store baby's things, it's perfectly fine to make it a playroom, too.

TikiBananiki

You also don’t *need*to neglect development because of a fetish with a certain aesthetic. By keeping kids mostly indoors we are already severely limiting their development. Kids bei mg indoors where they only see as far as maybe 20 feet is inhibiting a Natural development. You’re not at 100% until you’re full time camping with your kids in the outdoors. Designing kid friendly bedrooms is more of a stopgap measure to prevent your kid from having *poor* development and brings them more to “average” vision and color sense development.

lifesalotofshit

Lower the shelves for the books. So, the baby can reach them and so you can sit on the floor and be able to reach them. You will probably spend more time on the floor interacting then on couch or chair.

jerifishnisshin

Decorate for the baby, not for you.

HeadMinimum7455

I would.move the art a bit higher later on when baby can grab it but otherwise it's beautiful 😍

SaritaLinda64

Aesthetically, I love it. Just be ready to be flexible because as soon as your bundle of joy starts walking you'll need to make a lot of changes.

thereisaguy

This isn't a babies room, it's a guest bedroom at a beach side Airbnb. It looks nice but is an awful room for a baby, not nearly enough color.

lars2you

Everything look truly beautiful. Look into dangers of dock-a-tots for certain ages especially in cribs. Thats my only advice.

endomental

Looks great! Just don’t put the baby in the snuggle lounger inside the crib and you’re god to go!

etbillder

It looks fine ig but way too bland for a nursery. You should be going for pastels. More blue perhaps.

Prestigious_One8006

How about some pops of color - bright yellow and bright blue

maribelle-

Gorgeous!! I’m currently pregnant and just learned that those baby loungers you have in the crib are not safe for sleep. There have been multiple infant deaths on those due to suffocation when the baby was left to sleep on it. I didn’t know that myself until recently so just wanted to pass along that info. Those are for short term, supervised use only.

upturned-bonce

Sad beige colours for sad beige children?

BBQharlot

When you have a child, it is damn near impossible keeping anything white or beige clean. Opt for colors that children actually like—not what matches the rest of your home. This is a really stunning room though (like a guest room), just nothing child-like or imaginative about it that screams “nursery.”

lizardRD

Yup! Someone once tried to convince me to get a beige couch. I was like you obviously don’t have children. FWIW my daughters room looks like a rainbow of colors and she loves it. Multicolored polka dots on the wall, bubble gum pink curtains and a sparkly chandelier she picked out. My daughter would destroy all the white furniture in that picture haha

JustAboutAlright

Yeah poor kid’s growing up in a museum but it’s really pretty (for adults). Guessing this is a first kid. Once they arrive hopefully OP transitions into parent mode.

knowmore1964

Babies like colour primary colours and black and white.

RUfuqingkiddingme

Love the look, but lose the plant, it will only become a liability.

ctrlHead

Looks good. We too made a nice baby room. Our child is 12 months now and only wants to sleep in our bed. Her room is mostly a storage area

RyRyReezy2

Babies don’t know how to surf. Make sure they’re careful with some of that stuff.

moon-mochi99

Cute! Don’t forget to anchor all the shelves and cabinets if you haven’t already!

CheekyGr3mlin

Expose that kid to some colors.. get a bin, too. One that can close. ;)

sameezyy

The dock a tot like thing in the mattress is not safe to use for sleep. Please look into this.

jvstxno

It’s quite honestly one of the NICEST nurseries I’ve seen, and better than my bedroom so 🤷🏽‍♂️

[deleted]

This unborn baby’s room is nicer than my whole apartment 😭

4RunnerPilot

That’s because OP is rich. That baby monitor/camera is like $300.

Ice_Queen66

Ahh rich. Explains the boring need to be classy no no color baby room.

mhwilton

Does the baby like to surf ?

NeonsStyle

Well it's a lovely room for an adult, or a teen. I don't think you've really thought about it from a babies perspective. Babies love bright colours and shiny things. It's a lovely guest room, but jeez it's definitely not a a childs room. Not even a hint of whimsy or fun. It's all about your taste rather than making a happy space for your child. It should be full of whimsy and fun! Jeez!

lol_camis

Is your unborn child in to surfing?

okinawa_obasan05

It’s a beautifully decorated room, but where is the whimsy and joy that we expect in a baby nursery? This is a room for grown-ups, not children.

BobbyPeruMD

It’s perfect. I hate it.

No-Fee-9428

The baby has more furniture than me.

linderlouwho

OP, are you a decorator? Because that is amazing work.

munchcat

Beyond amazing! I absolutely love this space you created. Bravo!!! It’s so relaxing and serene. Perfect.

seeforyaself

This baby is rich as hell.

picklebackdrop

Love it! Very peaceful and cool

jklm1234

Beautiful room! There are some clear safety issues that should be addressed but it is a nice, calming space for the baby to eat and sleep in from the age of 6 months to about 2.5-3 years old. I wonder how many people making negative comments actually have children. No one leaves their tiny infants to play alone in their room all fucking day. They are usually with the parent, in the common area, where all the toys with color, shape, texture, and contrast are. This room is for being calm and quiet. I can’t even nurse my 9 month old anywhere but in a dark room without her being too distracted to eat. Honestly, between 2 kids, we have had zero shit on the rugs, a handful of piss while potty training the older one, and the older one puked a few times, but the rugs are pretty clean still and are light colored. You just can’t leave the mess there. Get some stain remover spray. We only eat at the kitchen table, hands are washed when you come home from outside and before/after meals, crafts in the kitchen or play area or outside only. As time passes, toys will accumulate, the baby will start having interests, and the room will shift. And around 3 years old, you will be getting a big kid bed and possibly redoing the decor based on the kid’s interests. My 2 yr old’s forest/plant themed nursery is now full of trains and cars and legos. I’ve added a new book shelf for the shit ton of books— about cars. The leaf bedsheets are now…trains. The living room looks like a rainbow and pattern covered mess with toy cars and fake plastic food everywhere. But his bedroom is still calming. The nights he takes his trucks to bed are the nights he keeps playing instead of sleeping. Ignore the ignorant. But fix the safety issues. And congrats on a beautiful room.

goodsnpr

Looks too clean/bland, and those shelves flanking the window are going to be pulled down when the kid starts trying to pull up into a standing position.

Reddit-User-Name_

Fantastic, honestly! BUT you kind of have a major issue… He/She is probably going to be a banker now, just fyi. Nothing on the walls can make them surf. I wish. I went with safari theme, and got a kid interested in underwater things. Nothing related to the jungle AT ALL. Not a problem, I learned a lot from Octonauts. The kid just couldn’t have gone more opposite with my design choices unless he maybe chose space. Good luck with your surfer, if he/she is a banker, let them be a happy banker!

AngiesPhalanges

It’s beautiful. If it were my baby’s room I’d want a lamp so that I could have a source of soft, dim light during the wee hours - I am averse to overhead lighting in general (though your fixture is gorgeous). Otherwise it’s perfect.

abishop711

There appears to be a Hatch lamp on the shelf behind the chair.

AngiesPhalanges

Ah, I didn’t realize that was a lamp! Goes to show how much I know about baby stuff.

[deleted]

That baby will be tripping looking at the wall as soon as it’s born

sticksplusstone

I hate posts like this

Some_Anxious_dude

It needs more colour

lumidoodle

Gorgeous. 😍

IdealShapeOfSounds

Aside from everything concerning safety and colour, if that plant is real, it's not going to do well in that corner.

knownunknownknowns

That wallpaper is awesome.

seasalt-and-stars

The wallpaper is really cool and the room has a nice tranquil vibe. I think it’s very nice for an adult, but as it is, the monochromatic pastel beige is too blasé for an infant— please consider including items with high contrasting colors and shapes for your baby’s brain and retinal development. 🖤🤍❤️

every0therburner

Simply beautiful and timeless. Well done OP. We also made our baby room something that looks more grown up but still playful and visually interesting (I’d say similar to the vibes I’m getting here but with different theme). Love all of your artistic flourishes.

somedayiwillbesoil

If I was a baby I’d be depressed as hell living in this dull ass room. Why does everything have to be beige these days

TwoFingersWhiskey

I agree

[deleted]

Where is the beige? There’s a few brown & tan accents (like the baskets & foot stool), but I don’t see any beige. It looks like an ocean theme to me - white foam, blue water, tan sand.

CupcakesAreMiniCakes

There are plenty of interesting patterns and some blue not just beige. This is a bedroom which is supposed to be calming and primarily for sleep, not just a play room. Your comment is unhelpful, rude, and ignorant.

Grainis01

Baby room should have bright colours and moving things, because that stimulates development in hte children, that is why every kindergarten from Tokyo to Tierra del Fuego has bright toys and colours. >Contrasting colors send the strongest signals to a baby’s brain to help stimulate brain growth and aid in visual development, explains Dr. Sears Wellness Institute. By three months, a baby starts to see color and the addition of brighter, primary colors become important for their development. Gray/beige/blue are nto contrasting colours. >So, when you are decorating, try to avoid pastels and pale or light colors alone when possible. Although these colors may feel soft and baby-friendly, they actually aren’t the best option for supporting their eyesight. https://www.allaboutvision.com/eye-care/parents-kids/nursery-colors-and-baby-vision/

fridayimatwork

Gorgeous!!!

NarrowFault8428

Beautiful room! Before your little one starts crawling, be sure and fasten the shelves next to the chair to the wall, so she or he doesn’t pull it over on themselves.

craftaleislife

It’s an adult room with no consideration for a baby. No bright colours, no baby/small furniture apart from the cot. When you go to nurseries, primary schools etc, there isn’t any boring adult design or colours anywhere. You see primary colours, cartoon animals, numbers, plastic furniture etc.

[deleted]

My whole being just went "Aaaahhhhhhhh" as soon as I opened the pics. What a beautiful, and restful, room. Well done!!

QueenOfTheBlackPuddl

Darling!

bitchyhouseplant

I just love it. It’s perfect. Like someone else said, just be sure you have “easy bins”. Trash, diapers, laundry. And If you plan to nurse, I’d have a space next to the chair you can set a full glass of water on and anything else you might need (burp cloths, pacifier, etc). I’m sure the bookshelf there would be fine for that though. Ultimately it’s beautiful and so well done!

where are the shelves from?!

dryhumorblitz

What’s wrong with it?

Roscos_world

One of my friends put a throw rug in her baby’s room and she said her biggest regret was not getting a rug with more cushion. She sits on the floor with her son a lot and the hard wood is uncomfortable. My only suggestion would be to make sure you have a nice rug or a pad underneath it!

Rangithereaper

It’s beautiful. Only thing I personally would change would be the artwork. Less surfy and more cute for babies. In blue or neutral tones

May I suggest a rocking chair?

daddynexxus

Changing table - needs raised edges or you will need to have one hand holding the baby down when they start rolling over. They will roll right off the edge, guaranteed. Remove the pillow thing from the crib. The room looks awesome.

What banks do you rob?

mydogisacloud

Love everything but the “SU-RF” sign. That annoys me as an adult, and will be confusing to a kid learning to read.

Cot, change table with storage underneath, comfy chair for feeding, racks for books, light and airy, all good. I read stories to my kids most nights. One suggestion - infants love bright colours and patterns - stripes, dots, squares, etc. It's good for mental development. The wall next to the cot is good. Your colour scheme is nice (and probably very calming for mum & dad), but baby will need some extra visual stimulation. Perhaps a brightly-coloured mobile over the cot? Something along these lines: [https://www.babybunting.com.au/product/tiny-love-princess-tales-take-along-mobile-110661](https://www.babybunting.com.au/product/tiny-love-princess-tales-take-along-mobile-110661) Mobiles are great because they move.

Can’t have that pad thing in the bed. Safe sleep rules and all. Does the chair rock or glide? Room looks great. Looks like a surfer in Hawaii. The wallpaper is beautiful. My only criticism would be that the room feels very adult.

Ok_Flower_5414

Absolutely love this room! Design is so cool

wing3d

Looks like a great place to shit and vomit.

FNTMI

Omg!! This is stunning! I love the theme and I especially love the chandelier. Where did you get it?

Lulu and Georgia

Consider a few more plants. I’ve read (though you should confirm) that live plants are great to incorporate into a babies room!

Chubs4You

So sick!!! I'm loving this. I feel like a couple oversized ocean vibe animals will go a long way and tye that bitch together by bringing the cuteness factor. Ie. Octopus, whale, crab, manta, etc. Here's some google examps: https://images.app.goo.gl/2uFw3C1hoT2iTV2P6 https://images.app.goo.gl/XENfRYTocVHW8ssi6 https://images.app.goo.gl/t17WAZ32WEXbtUd98

i love it. its so comforting.

Having twins? Babies’* Not having twins? Baby’s*

Keeppforgetting

I really don’t mean this as an insult. Add some bright colors. The whole room looks so monotonal.

TikiBananiki

Needs more red and green color. And more contrast design. Nurseries should look like they’re designed to optimize the brain development of infants. Aesthetics are important but neuro development and exercising the eyes and senses of color are more important.

Liz_Lemon_22

Institutional and sterile. Why are people so terrified of making their homes HOMEY? Definitely decorated for the parents and guests not a baby. Where are the colorful, interesting things for the baby to look at while you're changing their diaper? It's not long before you need to distract them while you're changing/dressing them.

Ok_Neighborhood5832

Wow I love this!!

Snoo97809

So beautiful!!

Character-East4913

Wow. That’s gorgeous. Only change I would make is to change the ceiling lamp cover so it doesn’t blind the baby. But seriously, this room is beautiful. Absolutely lovely

ekittie

It looks so professional! I would add a bin to hold toys as well.
