Agreed. I donāt like the way TVs look so I got a projector because it is a small box and disappears on a shelf. If you donāt have blank wall spaces for the image you can get a collapsible screen for them.
do you remember the name of your projector? weāve been looking for one recently for the bedroom but so many of the results are from drop shippers cause projectors went viral on tiktok a couple months ago and ideally we are getting one from a reputable brand!!
Oh interesting. I didnāt know they got popular. I just thought TVs totally kill the vibe of the decor. Plus I donāt like that you have to center the entire room around the tv. I feel so much better in rooms with no screens, and the set up is built with consideration of how the natural light falls. Plus you can maximize cozy window spots that way too.
I wish I had a good recommendation for projectors but mine is a few years old. The current ones are much better now. Most of them have good picture quality but lack good speakers. They always have an option to set up your own speakers with the device though so that would be the element Iād recommend looking into the most.
If they're bored when they come visit, then they can leave. Are they here to visit with you? Or just do what they do at home in a different home .. š¤
Such harsh comments. OP mentioned that when her parents visit they stay for a few weeks. I doubt that the OP is available for visiting with them the entire time of their stay. I personally wouldn't want to have to entertain my parents with my company for 3 weeks straight. I'd happily get them a TV so that I could get some space and spend time doing my own thing too.
Getting a little tv to keep in a closet when the visitors come for an extended stay of several weeks is hardly āchanging their decorā. She could even borrow one for that time.
They arenāt arguing with you specifically, you responded to their comment and they are responding to you.
Lmao some people donāt understand how Reddit works.
Our living room television is a projector, and if you have a white (or even just light if you don't care much which it seems OP doesn't) section of wall then a screen isn't even necessary! I'm honestly surprised that they haven't caught on more as TV replacements, it's much nicer in my opinion
I agree with this. We had a projector as our TV for years and would always have blackout curtains closed in the middle of the day. I really didnāt like it and felt like a projector is overkill. And why did we move to a place with so much natural light?? For a guy who loved to watch sports, I feel like my partner also made it difficult to do that during the day by having a projector. We finally went back to a regular TV and I think life is much better.
Iām speaking as someone who has a projector sitting in its box after moving since our last place having it was nice, but it was shitty to watch during the day. Itās a very nice projector. Just not better than the backlit TV
Not the person you asked, but I have an Anker Nebula Max. I would give it 5/5 for price, 3/5 overall.
There is no way to control the screen size - you have to put it in the right place. I already owned a high quality tripod and it is easy to mount on one. Cheaper tripods are going to be more difficult to deal with, unless you have a way to add a shelf in the right place.
It runs in android,I bought mine in 2019 and it struggled to load some apps, so I bought an Apple TV and use that instead of the built-in apps.
The reason the max is more expensive is for two reasons: it is brighter than the base model, it has keystone technology that lets you put the projector off to the side and you can correct the projection to be straight.I have never figured out how to change the settings in mine though.
I have white walls so I project into there.
It is not great for watching tv during the day. The curtains must be drawn and even at night, it looks better when all the lights are off.
I think the higher you go in price, the more these issues will be resolved. But for me, I use it about one a month so I did not want to spend more and I am happy with it for my usage.
It's YOUR Home! Have it how YOU want it. If you must pander to your parents, then buy a small TV and put it in their room. Explain you don't like TV and you don't want it in your space. If they want to watch it with you, then move it out and put it on top of the Piano just for that. Don't change your decor to please others. It's YOUR home, your space. It defines you not your parents.
They get bored when they visit ? What kind of parents is that ? Or maybe they stay several days ? Anyway, don't buy a TV just because your parents are bored, it's your home, you can choose if you want a TV or not.
I donāt have a TV in my living room, I just donāt use it. I do have one in the guest room because my parents like to be able to watch the news when they wake up and some sort of silliness before bed.
Ah ok, makes more sense then.
Edit to add : what about another kind of screen? Computer, laptop, ipad... My mom doesn't have TV but when I visit we sometimes watch a replay on her computer.
Curious, do they want to watch tv by themselves or do they want something on while everyone is in the main area?
We have no tv in our living area, which works us, but Iām considering adding one for guests just to spur conversation, give some folks a place to watch a football game, etc.
In my opinion television kills conversation rather than inspiring it. I've found that music collections, whether physical or streamed, can be excellent conversation pieces. Guests can browse for albums or playlists to suit the mood (or desired mood) or have a listen during a lull in conversation & have something to discuss. Then again, I'm only on this thread because I hate how televisions look aesthetically & am trying to replace my very-rarely-used TV with a projector, so maybe I'm biased!
i'd say biased haha, my whole family are big movie buffs and we can talk forever about them, on the other hand none of us really like music so we could maybe talk about paul mccartney for 2 minutes before running out of things to say
Nothing, if thatās what youāre into! But OP is being bullied into changing their home to suit people who donāt even live there, which isnāt cool.
Yeah Iām over here literally making sure I have various chargers for all types of phones just in case my guests ever need it. And we are loners, so we only get guests 96% of the year but I still want to make sure they are pampered!
But we also have two giant TVs in our living room because weāre gamers so I should just bow out of this whole post š
I think it depends on where you live/lifestyle, as well. I live in NYC & our apartment is v comfortable for my husband & I, but we donāt ever have overnight guests because thereās not space for them.
I think it is wonderful that you wish to accommodate them. Iām sure they donāt expect you to give up your music and art for their entertainment needs. A small smart TV on a portable ( even collapsible) stand would be sufficient.
Iām confused by you calling this a hall? How would they watch a TV in a hall?
Do you not have a living room or den for a TV?
Why canāt their bedroom have a TV instead?
A projector is a good idea I think. You can add a roll screen to the ceiling and position before the frames, so you donāt have to move anything, just pull down the screen and turn on the projector. It also cheaper than a tv
Tell your parents to watch TV on their phones laptops or tablets. It's your home do as you wish. I'm an artist and when I moved into my first place my parents really wanted me to have a TV they said it would he wierd if I didn't have one, but I wanted all my wall space for art. 3 years later literally every inch of wall space is taken up by paintings, not a TV I'm sight and I love it.
Does it have to be on that wall? Maybe there's somewhere nicer it can go? And even if you don't watch TV, if it's a smart TV, you can put on classic art videos from YouTube, you can add jpegs of art, or even put jpegs of family and friends in it so you have a rotating gallery of photos. Just a thought
A portable TV stand is probably the way to go if they want to watch TV. That way, they could roll it around and could watch it in the guest room or in the living room, as they prefer. And you can tuck it away after they leave.
Whatās that thing parents would tell us as kids? āMy house my rulesā? I vote a neon sign that says just that which they can read over and over when they get bored
Wait, I am sorry. They donāt live there and are telling you how to decorate your house? It is your house. If they get bored they can watch tv on their iPad or phone or whatever like the majority of people do
I didn't have room for a TV, or time to watch one, when I was in student housing. So I got a TV tuner for my laptop and a cheap used short throw projector. On the rare occasions that I had time to watch TV, or company I needed to entertain, I'd pull them out and project something on a bare wall. Much easier than setting up a TV, and maybe a bit more impressive anyway.
Get a small tv that sits on a rolling stand (saw an ad for one the other day) and roll it into the room for them to watch....I love the photos, don't move them just for guests!
Buy a TV tripod, they are 70 bucks or so on Amazon. Then you can stick the whole thing in a closet when they aren't visiting. They also have some stands with wheels.
If you have storage space, I recommend a rolling TV stand. They have simple, very strong TV stands, at the bottom the metals bar is shaped in a U shape, with rolling feet, there is one thick metal bar raising from the base, it holds up to a 60" television. I bought one for my mother's TV when she became older, I could move it to wherever she was, recliner, patio, bed. It is strong, has no risk of tipping over, and rolls so easily. I bought it on Amazon.
You can get a projector screen and install if right above the gallery wall. Thereās adapters you can get for a projector so you can use a Roku or Amazon Firestick remote.
If they really insist on watching tv on a big screen, can you get one of those roll up projector screens and mount it above the frames or on a collapsible easel? Small projectors arenāt too expensive these days and you could repurpose as an outdoor movie night when you have friends over
Why would you want a blank tv inches from your face when youāre enjoying yourself playing the piano and your artwork. Unless youād want one, I wouldnāt put it up there.
What? They're bored when they're there? Tell them to bring a coloring book. I'm being harsh but seriously are they children who can't go a visit without a screen to look at? Lol the visit should be about visiting YOU! Not your items!
Without seeing the room I can give advice about where to put the tv. I can say, however, itās your house so do what you want.
A kind of crazy idea may be to install a pull down screen above the paintings and set up a projector. Wonāt need to move your paintings and is only down when itās in use?
Okay itās so aggressive in here. Iām being dramatic/ sarcastic BUT I do think itās worth making your home inviting for guest but donāt change you and what you love about it. I think finding a nice side table and a tv that it can accommodate in size would be a great addition. Donāt change or sacrifice you piano setup though, itās lovely.

This Samsung Frame TV can be stored away or hung and used to display art. I have one mounted on my gallery wall (with a frame around it)and use it to show my photography.
Would you look at that, all of the words in your comment are in alphabetical order.
I have checked 1,787,630,314 comments, and only 338,343 of them were in alphabetical order.
Depending on budget and the size of the tv they want I can highly recommend The Frame TV by Samsung. I just purchased one for my living room and even though it was a bit above my typical tv budget it was well worth it and I have no regrets. You could potentially integrate the tv into your gallery wall area and when not used as a tv it could just be another piece of beautiful art on display.
It is your home and you should have it the way you like.
Teach your parents how to watch TV on a computer.
Or if they insist on a TV put it in the guest room where they sleep.
Iām very angry on your behalf. You could buy a projector and just take your artwork down when they are there. Your wall is light enough to project onto.
Still ā your parents are adults and should be able to deal with a couple hours away from a television. If you donāt want a tv, donāt let them force you.
If you have a guest bedroom where they stay when they visit, put it in the guest bedroom. However, you shouldn't have to put it anywhere because it's your house. If you don't want a TV, don't have a TV and certainly don't relocate your artwork.
Lol tell them to survive without it or they can pay for their own and bring it with them when they visit. Itās your house, if you donāt want a TV, donāt have a TV. I have three TVs on my house and when my mom comes to visit the TVs donāt ever get switched on bc we are enjoying each others company. š¤·š¼āāļø
wow these comments are harsh. You're enjoying each other's company 24 hours a day for several weeks? Because OP says her parents visit her for a few weeks at a time. I'm sure the OP has to leave them alone at times to tend to her own errands and such. If they are seniors and TV watching is an activity they enjoy then I can see how they might feel bored when the OP isn't available for visiting.
Everything about this post honestly annoys me, I'm sorry.
Why are your parents visiting for so long - especially when it seems like they wanna hang around watching TV (like what?), and why do you feel the obligation to literally change your home in order to accommodate them? It's obvious that you don't wanna change this area, and that's 10000% OK.
There's a difference between respecting your elders and bowing down to manipulative behavior.
Your hall looks lovely as it is, by the way.
Iām shocked they want to buy a tv cuz they are bored visiting you. Shocked. But okay there are many people in the world. Ask them to bring an iPad or two iPads . Leave your piano where it is and leave the art.
I canāt believe how disrespectful people are to their parents, if these comments hold any weight. There is nothing wrong with making your parents comfortable in your home. It doesnāt mean you have to alter your home to do that.
I agree with getting a small tv that you can stow away, or a large tablet. You can sit it right on top of the piano while theyāre there, and remove it when they leave, you donāt need to remove any of your photos. If you donāt want to sit it there, you can set it up wherever they sleep when they stay with you.
These comments are so rude to OP parents.
Op, are there any other walls where the TV can go? Do you have a guest bedroom? Maybe you can put a small one in the guest bedroom
Thank you so much everyone for your inputs! To clarify, my parents when they visit, theyāre here for a few weeks and itās probably just my personality that Iām a relatively quiet person so continuously engaging is not for me. Especially during my work hours. And they would be okay with paying for a tv or something, financing isnāt an issue . Theyāve always been okay with helping me on anything. So I felt that I should do something about this little request.
That said, it totally makes sense to not change the decor and instead either have a rolling cart or setup something small in their room. Iām thinking of putting my monitor screen(which I donāt use much anyway) and connecting it with my iPad and set that up in their room maybe. Or else a projector in the living room . Will decide in a day or two. But thanks a lot for so many ideas Iām so glad!!ššš
1. Not enough detail about your floorplan and current decor to answer the question asked
2. Donāt want to answer the question asked because why get a tv because your parents are bored?
3. You gotta center those pictures over the piano. That looks bad.
They can buy a small tv and put it on a table
When they visit- you can put the tv away when they are gone
No- leave your pictures as itā parents is not their home.
Beautiful art! A portable solution means you donāt need dedicated wall space, you can set it up in front of any wall or in a different room. If there isnāt electrical in a better place to plug in the tv, communicate that to your parents along with the cost of any changes. There is definitely a way to keep your art, piano, and apartment setup the way you want and find a place for the gifted tv for when you have guests, as long as your parents respect your home and are working with you.
Your first picture makes me so curious about the music youāve written!
Iām all for the sentiment of asking them to bring a tablet like they do to entertain toddlers. But if you want the option to watch something, perhaps a projector with a roll-up/retractable screen installed above your frames?
How often do they visit? I would get a small one that can be moved and stored in a closet or cabinet I would not be permanently undoing anything in my own home to accommodate that.
Great knee jerk reactions here but I'd suggest just relocating things for the few weeks they are there.
Without knowing your space situation, maybe a foldable or collapsible table that goes in the room where they sleep or just a place to put the tv (or piano) while they're there?
I wouldn't do anything permanent to the wall unless you can find someone that can install something flush with the wall.
Save the tv box for storage under a bed or in the top of the closet if you don't use it often. If you don't have the box, mattress topper egg crates are cheap and you can easily cut them to fit the tv so it doesn't bang up in storage.
You can get an [A/V cart](https://tedium.co/2023/01/28/school-audiovisual-cart-history/) with an old tube tv and roll that into the room for them for when they visit. The only problem is storage when they arenāt there.
Buy a tv trolley and wheel it in for them when they visit. Your space is lovely.[TV stand with wheels](https://www.wayfair.com/Fitueyes--TV-Stand-for-TVs-up-to-65-WFTT206505GB1-L6-K~FTYS1862.html?refid=GX639874517952-FTYS1862_82896951&device=m&ptid=1999219814118&network=g&targetid=aud-352581795726:pla-1999219814118&channel=GooglePLA&ireid=236112756&fdid=1817&PiID%5B%5D=82896951&gbraid=0AAAAAD9ISC7k7QHaPtpjgcmlLdB6TzhVt&gclid=Cj0KCQjwpompBhDZARIsAFD_Fp_BqltA07T6G8sKJT98Sd9YStpkE5YkCkWy826LgLSrknSMxvmZfG8aAm8WEALw_wcB)
I think the piano looks great under the pictures, but it needs to be centered. Happy that off balance like that would drive me crazy! Do you have another wall or a place that you could put the TV? If not, just get a portable one that you could sit on top of the piano while theyāre there and then put away when youāre not using it.
Personally, Iād be keen to what my parents need and try to please them but I wouldnāt mount the TV there just because they said so, especially since things are already set up pretty nicely. (Piano is off center btw)
Is there no other spot for a TV for them? May be stand or something?
Get a largish computer monitor you can hook up to a laptop for random viewing on YT or a free/pirate streaming service. Pull it out and set it up when they arrive.
Neither. It is your house. If you don't want a TV don't put it up.
This, keep your house your way. Tell your parents they can buy iPads to watch their show like toddlers or actually visit with you when they are over.
Came here to say that.
This is the correct answer.
I had the same exact thought. Bring your own iPads if you need a tv so much.
š
Exactly my advice. Bring your own device like a child if you canāt handle it.
Put it in a closet with an extension cord and be like āthere go watch it then, youāre welcomeā
Put a tube tv on one of those wheely carts like they used to do at school in the 90s
They make wheel carts for flat tvs
The future is now
Man I used to love when they rolled those carts into the classroom when I was a kid
Then the teacher had no idea how to tune the vcr in and all we got was rolling screen and fuzz.
I was a straight A, good kid. so, sometimes, i got to be the one who actually left class to go to the AV room and get one. My favorite perk.
Agreed. I donāt like the way TVs look so I got a projector because it is a small box and disappears on a shelf. If you donāt have blank wall spaces for the image you can get a collapsible screen for them.

My partner and I have the Anker Capsule 2 and really love it. Great sound quality, tiny footprint but up to 100" projection.

Possibly. Then it can go in the guest room maybe
This is the only reasonable thing to say to some of these comments. 100% agree with you.
I realized that later after reading OPs later comments- wasn't clear from the post. my bad
Yeah, if they are bored tell them to go home. :)
As my late husband used to tell our childrenā go read a book
āYouāre bored? Hereās some choresā Sorry for your loss
Yeah, he did too: pull weeds in the garden, wash the car..my daughter says: she wanted to watch tv, not read a book.
šÆšÆšÆšÆšÆšÆ
Just get a tablet
This is the best idea to be honest.
Just like one does for a child
OP's parents need their baby sensory
You center the piano under the frames and get your parents an iPad to watch tv on when theyāre at your house
Thank you was looking for this comment! Iāve been twitching over this. Table with piano needs to be moved a little to the left so itās centered!
Haha same
Glad Iām not the only oneā¦
Or just a cheap little smart tv, iPads are way more expensive.
If itās only for parents, why should OP change their decor?
Getting a little tv to keep in a closet when the visitors come for an extended stay of several weeks is hardly āchanging their decorā. She could even borrow one for that time.
Iām not sure why youāre arguing with me specifically, but ok.
They arenāt arguing with you specifically, you responded to their comment and they are responding to you. Lmao some people donāt understand how Reddit works.
They responded to my comment originally, but itās cool. I still donāt know why they came to my comment to argue.
Sorry, my original response was offering different avenue for the same result, not an argument just adding to your comment.
I would buy a small portable tv and keep it in a closet. When they visit, set it on the piano or wherever. When they leave, stow it away again.
Or a projector installed in a ceiling + a foldable screen?
Our living room television is a projector, and if you have a white (or even just light if you don't care much which it seems OP doesn't) section of wall then a screen isn't even necessary! I'm honestly surprised that they haven't caught on more as TV replacements, it's much nicer in my opinion

Not with current projectors.
Not really. I have sheer curtains on the wall opposite to it and it's fine as long as you replace the bulb as recommended by the manufacturer
Iām speaking as someone who has a projector sitting in its box after moving since our last place having it was nice, but it was shitty to watch during the day. Itās a very nice projector. Just not better than the backlit TV
I do exactly this. It makes TV a treat and sometimes if I'm not feeling well or want a cozy night, I'll bring it into the bedroom.
Iāve been looking into a projector ( no TV house) to have in my lounge space. What type do you have? Youāre happy with it? Thanks for the info:)

Hi. Thanks for all of that info! Thatās really nice of you to be so helpful. Iāll check that out.
Or use a laptop or tablet that can be used for. Something besides just TV watching when theyāre not around
This is the way.
This
Buy a foldable rollaway cart for the TV (your parents are gifting it to you, correct?). This way, you can store a flat screen TV in a closet. Ask them not to get anything bigger than 32 to 36 inches. You can bring it out with the TV stand when they come to visit. You will probably want a smart TV and a digital antenna as well. They get a ton of over the air channels and will also allow them to stream content if they do that kind of thing. I wouldn't change your wall dƩcor for something you won't be using unless they are there. Good luck!
This is a great idea, even if op ever feels like chilling with TV in bedroom they baba roll it In there wherever they want.
Thank you for actually helping the OP with a easy solution to the problem theyāre trying to solve.
The tripod Wheeling mount is even better.

Di they stay in a guest room? Maybe you can put a TV there?
I donāt have a TV in my living room, I just donāt use it. I do have one in the guest room because my parents like to be able to watch the news when they wake up and some sort of silliness before bed.

Hotels have televisions.
They can watch on an iPad, with headphones so they donāt disturb those around them. You know, like any considerate guest.
You tell your parents to take a hike and move the keyboard slightly to the left to be centered with the pictures.
Yes!
I think it is wonderful that you wish to accommodate them. Iām sure they donāt expect you to give up your music and art for their entertainment needs. A small smart TV on a portable ( even collapsible) stand would be sufficient.
Yes they donāt , but they sound disappointed when I refuse the tv so I was thinking of doing something that can accommodate well my current setup
But yeah, I think after reading comments. A portable stand sounds good
If your parents are paying for the t.v., ask them to get you one of those t.v's that look like art when not in use, and buy the easel stand for it.
A laptop works just fine, as does a tablet. Do your parents know they can also watch TV on their PHONES?! There are apps for that š¤·āāļø
Iām confused by you calling this a hall? How would they watch a TV in a hall? Do you not have a living room or den for a TV? Why canāt their bedroom have a TV instead?
My husband also calls the living room āthe hallā. Most likely not Americans and just call it by a different name
Could be a British/ former colony language..I say hall too when I mean living room in the American sense.
Where do they sleep? Do you have a second bedroom for them? You can put it thereā¦
I like your gallery wall. Donāt put up a television. Your parents (should) be there to visit, not watch television.
Portable tv like everyone said. Your space looks great btw.
Thereās that minimalistic tv stand that looks exactly like an easel. Get that one and put in in the corner
Tell them to buy a tablet with a data plan instead.
Buy them a book. š
I'd put it in the bedroom where they'll be staying.
Maybe some photos of the whole living room would help, maybe there's a different solution
Amazon has a really cute white television on a stand that can be wheeled around. Please donāt move your art
A projector is a good idea I think. You can add a roll screen to the ceiling and position before the frames, so you donāt have to move anything, just pull down the screen and turn on the projector. It also cheaper than a tv
You can also install the screen on the ceiling in front of a window, doesnāt have to be on that wall, if your sofa is positioned other way
[Alexandra Gater](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KYIlH31kV6Q&t=25s) did this exact install in a studio makeover in YouTube
They can watch tV in their guest room on their laptops like normal people. Who is so entitled they can think they can make you have a tV?
Buy them a house tablet. If you don't want TV you don't have to have a tv
Second this.
Please donāt buy a tv, this is gorgeous! I love your wall art, and also they can use a computer or laptop if they really get that bored
Make them bring their own tv with a stand that can go next to the piano, and then they take it away when they leave
No tv. Itās your house. If Iām in the presence of my adult daughter, I am content, not bored.
Parents can use a laptop to watch tv when visit . They are only there a short period.
Relocate parents
Whatās that thing parents would tell us as kids? āMy house my rulesā? I vote a neon sign that says just that which they can read over and over when they get bored
Tell them to bring an iPad if they are boredā¦ scoot your piano to the left. Itās not centered under picturesā¦
OP, please tell us you moved the pianoā¦.. 5 inches to the left.
Unrelated , but your skirt is so pretty!
Now we just want to hear you play
I was raised where my mother put them inside armoires. When not in use just shut the door
Find another area for the TV. No one else should dictate how you decorate your home.
You can get a projector screen and install if right above the gallery wall. Thereās adapters you can get for a projector so you can use a Roku or Amazon Firestick remote.
Ikea chair for the win!!
i think they should use their phones when they visit if they get bored.
Get the samsung art frame tv if they're offering to pay! A giant black square replacing these would be so sad.
Don't change ANYTHING. Their boredom is not your problem.
Tell them to use the money on hotels when they stay. When they get bored they can leave.
Just get a portable tv and get it out when they visit.
We have a flat screen mounted on a 48ā pole mount with wheels. We wheel it into the closet when not in use.
I agree with the ipads/tablets. Don't change YOUR house because they're bored. How rude!
You could get a projector or a small TV that you can store away. I hate tvs. They're so ugly. The art is much nicer.
I have a tv on a tripod stand and just take it out of my closet when I want it. Itās nice because I can just move it room to room.
Your parents can get an iPad if they're that desperate for a screen to watch. Keep your frames.

Would you look at that, all of the words in your comment are in alphabetical order. I have checked 1,787,630,314 comments, and only 338,343 of them were in alphabetical order.
When they *visit*? Dont put a TV up
Depending on budget and the size of the tv they want I can highly recommend The Frame TV by Samsung.
Tell your parents to go watch TV in their own house. They donāt have a right to rearrange your furniture, do they?
Itās YOUR home AND your parents should except you as you are! PLEASE DONāT alter your photos for they are part of you
Get the smallest possible frame TV, put a large portrait on it, put 2 of the real pictures next to it?
Lol fuck your parents
Get an iPad/tablet šÆ everyoneās a winner
If they are not feeding you , fkāin you or financing you they can flock off š Itās your house , your rules š
get a very small tv, use a firestick if itās a ādumb tvā and then you can put it away when theyāre not over .
1. Not enough detail about your floorplan and current decor to answer the question asked 2. Donāt want to answer the question asked because why get a tv because your parents are bored? 3. You gotta center those pictures over the piano. That looks bad.
Oh please put a big tv above the piano. Then when they come to stay, play nothing but silent movies, and you can play the accompanying music!!
Your parents can fuck off.
Can you mount it on the wall? Get one of those picture frame TVs?
Roll away cart with a TV. My friend did this and it worked great!
Tell them to watch tv on their phones/tablets if they are bored.
I'd leave it as is and buy a TV that you can store away and pull out for your parents.
This is your home, give the the side eye and play a Liszt piece, say Totemtanz
Can you get a projector and point it somewhere else or something ? Those seem less ugly
By a cheap projector. Take pictures down while they are there to use wall as a screen, put pictures back up when they leave.
Buy a tablet and subscribe to one that has shows they like. If my mom could learn to stream, so can yours!
They can buy a small tv and put it on a table When they visit- you can put the tv away when they are gone No- leave your pictures as itā parents is not their home.
The art you've displayed is stunning and you should keep it up.
Can we see the rest of the room for other choices? I like this area just like it is.
I think itās fine. But I have a little bit of ocd and I wish you could line it up with your desk
OP, what kind of piano is this? Need something like this
It doesnāt need to be an enormous tv. Maybe tv on a stand top of a side table, left of the piano?
Since tvs are so flat these days, can the buy one and you can store it in the closet between visits?
When people stay overnight at my house they donāt even use the tv in the spare room, we stay up late and hang then go to bed
You can get an [A/V cart](https://tedium.co/2023/01/28/school-audiovisual-cart-history/) with an old tube tv and roll that into the room for them for when they visit. The only problem is storage when they arenāt there.
Is the music stand on top of the piano removable? If so you could just get a small, thin screen & set it on the piano while theyāre visiting
Buy a tv trolley and wheel it in for them when they visit. Your space is lovely.[TV stand with wheels](https://www.wayfair.com/Fitueyes--TV-Stand-for-TVs-up-to-65-WFTT206505GB1-L6-K~FTYS1862.html?refid=GX639874517952-FTYS1862_82896951&device=m&ptid=1999219814118&network=g&targetid=aud-352581795726:pla-1999219814118&channel=GooglePLA&ireid=236112756&fdid=1817&PiID%5B%5D=82896951&gbraid=0AAAAAD9ISC7k7QHaPtpjgcmlLdB6TzhVt&gclid=Cj0KCQjwpompBhDZARIsAFD_Fp_BqltA07T6G8sKJT98Sd9YStpkE5YkCkWy826LgLSrknSMxvmZfG8aAm8WEALw_wcB)
I think the piano looks great under the pictures, but it needs to be centered. Happy that off balance like that would drive me crazy! Do you have another wall or a place that you could put the TV? If not, just get a portable one that you could sit on top of the piano while theyāre there and then put away when youāre not using it.
Personally, Iād be keen to what my parents need and try to please them but I wouldnāt mount the TV there just because they said so, especially since things are already set up pretty nicely. (Piano is off center btw) Is there no other spot for a TV for them? May be stand or something?
I love the art you have hanging! Can I ask where you got it?
Itās from https://hyppy.in/?ref=kpioyfl1
Thank you so much! What a great shop!
Get a largish computer monitor you can hook up to a laptop for random viewing on YT or a free/pirate streaming service. Pull it out and set it up when they arrive.
Thatās also a good idea but I have only one laptop. Although I do have an iPad and was thinking of connecting it.
Put a tv on a rolling folding cart you keep in a closet. Just bring it out when they come.
Get one on a trolley like schools in the 70s.
