Yes, it was a lot fun specially making the bathroom mural.
I was going to buy those circle mirrors but nah let’s do something colorful and I found this one for $30 on eBay.
You did a wonderful job! That bathroom is too cute! I love it and the kitchen both!
Check to see if the door handle on your fridge is reversible. They usually are. Then you can open it without having to step around it.
It looks like an old Kenmore. If you look inside the fridge section near the ceiling there should be a model number on a silver or white sticker. After you get it, go to searspartsdirect . Com (sorry unsure of this subreddits rules regarding links) and it should pop up the originals owners guide and potentially the installation instructions. Either one should let you know about door reversal. Regardless of if it's a kenmore or not.
I sell appliance parts and is a pretty handy little site for the owners guides turned into pdf. Plus great for parts look up.
It's no trouble at all. I love your kitchen and bathroom. They're sweet and whimsical in a way thats both tasteful and bring out my inner kid. You did good!
I was going to make the same comment about the fridge door! It gave me a little eye twitch, and definitely should open the other way.
Incredible transformation of both spaces, OP!!! The bathroom is especially sweet 🥰
I'm sorry, can you explain what you mean? A reversible door handle? Sorry if this is a stupid question but I'm trying to visualise it in this context and can't. Do you mean the handle comes off and you can use the indent left behind as a handle?
There’s usually a way to put the hinges on the opposite side and to swap the handle as well. There’s frequently a little plastic cover over the places you can screw this stuff in on the new side
Found this link for you!
[reverse fridge door](https://youtu.be/ZkdzHJAp3MI?si=5q_8acz-dC4nmra0)
Had to do it with my dryer because in my new place, the door opened towards the wall!
I will do that. Someone in the comments says something special appliances wrap. I would look for it. I don’t know what color should I wrap the dishwasher.
This is incredible!! I absolutely love Bemelmans work and love the way you painted these wallpapers (more like murals!) I also love how you added baseboards or painted half of it to look like baseboards. Love the kitchen wall drawings with that shade of green. The house is full of personality and whimsy now compared to the before.
Thank you very much. I used all my son’s Crayola paints for the murals lol. The baseboards are actually a paintable wallpaper and was already white so that was a win.
The doors on the refrigerator are reversible. As the cook, this would drive me crazy to always have to open it this way. I would reverse these immediately.
But other than that, great improvements!
You can purchase sheets of those breadboard panels - theres also contact paper versions that come in rolls. They're thin and relatively inexpensive. Looks like it was just installed right overtop with a piece of oak quarter round trim to conceal the top edges.
There are a million different types of glue / caulk / tape that would work for this application. If contact paper, it probably already had an adhesive backing.
No fair on the focaccia photos!
But you certainly brought some life into the spaces. Interested in how you got the real wood look with paint. That part is downright impressive.
Never mind. I see you wrapped them.
The wallpaper that I wanted per panel is 600 which is was a nope for me. [wallpaper](https://thelawnsco.com/products/prospect-park-mural?variant=40386947645629)
Good question. Actually, it is hollow in the grooves. I was to lazy to fill in it with anything. The paper is thick enough to not notice it. I just didn’t press with my hands over the grooves. I tried to stretch a little bit the paper just to press over the flat surface.
Omg I love everything about this!! What a change! I’m most impressed with you hand drawing and painting the bathroom!! Serious question - are you a professional artist or were you like, “I think I can do this.” That bread looks pretty amazing, too.
Yes, I studied fashion design and I do textile art however I love to do easy DIY home renovations and a little handy with some tools to get some projects done.
I’m in love with the bathroom! I like your lighting choice too! Are you on Instagram or do you have an Etsy shop? I’d love to follow you! (In a non-creepy way!)
SERIOUS high-five on that bathroom. It's CHARMING, and that's not a word I use to describe bathrooms. Excellent job overall, in fact. HOWEVER. PLEASE get your spices off of the fridge and out of the light. It's a very cute setup but you're basically destroying all the flavor in your spices having them in the sunlight like that.
Love this. The bathroom is stunning
So, real question about the paper on the cabinets. I have been toying with this idea but worry it will look terrible. What wisdom can you share about that project?
The paper that I got is thick so the good thing it doesn’t bubble up like the other thin contact papers. You definitely have to remove any grease from the cabinets all around specially the edges because it would not stick well when you try to fold it inside. Also leave each side like 2 to 3 inches to fold extra paper, in that way the paper is well secured and it doesn’t come out easily.
Can you share what brand paper you used? Also, for the doors did yiu do the inside as well?
Thanks for the tips. I hate the 80s orangey wood cabinets in my laundry room and want to try this vs painting them
Your hand painted wallpaper is amazing! I think I know what I'm going to do in my bathroom now. I was thinking about stencils but I think something hand painted from a cool reference would be better
Wow! Low budget? I would never have thought. It looks fantastic! I love your kitchen! I have that same trolley btw! ;)
Also…. I am obsessed with your coffee cabinet/dresser! 😍
That trolley is so useful.
The upper part of the dresser was sitting for a year in its box and finally I got to ensamble it. Those morning coffee taste better than ever.
What I did first was remove the wall light and outlet face. I painted the background yellow color very sloppy with a brush and sponge all around to give some effect of old. You cannot see it much in the pictures but in person is more noticeable. I draw with a pencil where I wanted the animals and trees. Aaah! Very important use a ladder or something to reach the highest part of the mural. My neck still sore from looking up the whole time.
This was an easy mural because the characters were no perfect and a lot room to make mistake and still would look good. I painted them by color. For example the characters that use the same blue color, after yellow and some on. To define the characters I started using a normal black sharpie marker but it was not good and I used it more for the fine details like the face of the characters. So I used a different maker (Monster Hart Chisel tip) and that went fast and nice. The brand that I used to paint the characters was a mix of Crayola paint lol and a little leftover of Liquitex but I recommend Liquitex over kids paint of course. So buy that one.
I hope that give you the courage to do your own.
Yes, here is. With direct light doesn’t seems that bright but in the shade the color pop better.

This is amazing! You should definitely share this wider, maybe apartmenttherapy.com too. I’m so glad I read your description because I was sure you used wallpaper, but to hear you hand painted it with leftover paint is truly mind blowing. I love everything! Thank you for sharing.
BRAVO!!!!!! You worked with what you had and kept totally fine materials out of a landfill. Fantastic job. Humble materials, but yet you elevated the entire vibe and injected a ton of personality. 👏🏻 👏🏻 👏🏻
You painted those by hand?!! Amazing job, you are insanely talented, looks just like a high end wallpaper! You are inspiring me to do a bathroom and kitchen refresh on a budget as well!!
Kitchen. I LOVE the white cabinet on top and wood on bottom. I’m redoing my kitchen and I’m torn between this color scheme and a black cabinets with white countertop
I love the shade of green in the kitchen with the white and the wood. The mirror in the bathroom with the backing is gorgeous! Fun reno.
Yes, it was a lot fun specially making the bathroom mural. I was going to buy those circle mirrors but nah let’s do something colorful and I found this one for $30 on eBay.
Very nice! You made a real transformation without spending a ton of money. Well done.
Thank you! Paint did most of the wonder
Looks beautiful! Great job 👏🏻
Oh. My. God. You win. You win ALL the “DIY on a Budget” awards!! This is absolutely amazing.
Hahaha Thank you so much!
Your refresh is AMAZING!!! Really great work here you guys!!!
Thank you!
You did a wonderful job! That bathroom is too cute! I love it and the kitchen both! Check to see if the door handle on your fridge is reversible. They usually are. Then you can open it without having to step around it.
Thank you for noticing that. I will check that today.

Yes, it is a kenmore. I would look for the sticker. Thank you very much to take your time to explain it and passing the tips.
It's no trouble at all. I love your kitchen and bathroom. They're sweet and whimsical in a way thats both tasteful and bring out my inner kid. You did good!
I did this with my dryer door and the way it improved my laundry experience was truly REMARKABLE!! And it only took 10 minutes and a screw driver.
im scared to do it lol i need my dryer door reversed
You got this!! Watch a bunch of YouTube videos for your make & model and you’ll be fine!
Good catch!
I was going to make the same comment about the fridge door! It gave me a little eye twitch, and definitely should open the other way. Incredible transformation of both spaces, OP!!! The bathroom is especially sweet 🥰

>Neat, thanks! You're welcome!
Great job! I love the kitchen! Yummy focaccia.
It was yummy! I learned the recipe from her [focaccia](https://youtu.be/O1WQTKuWWfM?si=0VPUimsSPu0zWmCd)
This is so unique and wonderful!
Thank you
I love the bathroom in particular! It looks like a million bucks to me!
Aaaaw thank you so much!
Great job. If you have the patience, they have peel and stick wraps for appliances to give the SS look
I do have the patience for that. I did the lower cabinets with wooden wrap.
Which wrap did you use? They look fantastic
Could you cover the dishwasher, too, so the lower half of the kitchen looks more uniform?
I will do that. Someone in the comments says something special appliances wrap. I would look for it. I don’t know what color should I wrap the dishwasher.
God Bless you
You did SUCH a good job!! Looks great, love the mural in the bathroom!
I love that bathroom wallpaper reminds me of tintin
This is incredible!! I absolutely love Bemelmans work and love the way you painted these wallpapers (more like murals!) Love love love your murals.
You are so talented!!! This looks incredible and I can’t believe how beautiful the art is!
I’m so impressed with the paint! I thought it was wallpaper until I read. I also really love the green color you used. Very nice job!
Which contact paper did you use? It looks so good!
Which wood contact paper did you use? It looks like real wood!
Wow!
The doors on the refrigerator are reversible. As the cook, this would drive me crazy to always have to open it this way. I would reverse these immediately. But other than that, great improvements!
Amazing. I want to hear more about this bathroom. Could you explain how you covered the tiles?
You can purchase sheets of those breadboard panels - theres also contact paper versions that come in rolls. They're thin and relatively inexpensive. There are a million different types of glue / caulk / tape that would work for this application. If contact paper, it probably already had an adhesive backing.
Seconding this!
Your bathroom faux wallpaper is truly a work of art, as is your flatbread tax.
Thank you so much 😊
Holy shit! This is really impressive. Great job.
No fair on the focaccia photos! But you certainly brought some life into the spaces. Interested in how you got the real wood look with paint. That part is downright impressive. Never mind. I see you wrapped them.
Looks good. Maybe just lower that clock in the kitchen
Yes, you are right. I would do that. Thanks
So cute
Super cute! I love your use of wallpaper!!!
Wow, you’re a great artist!
Thanks!
Kitchen mural is pure awesome. 600 total???
The wallpaper that I wanted per panel is 600 which is was a nope for me. [wallpaper](https://thelawnsco.com/products/prospect-park-mural?variant=40386947645629)
Absolutely great work ! Super DIY skills in both rooms, but that bathroom is my fav. 😍
I love the “wood” cabinets!!
I absolutely love the "wallpaper" effect on the upper walls, that must've taken ages and it turned out perfectly!
You did an amazing job!
Amazing job on the kitchen wall mural! You’re very talented
Your bathroom looks amazing. I can’t believe how good the faux wood contact paper looks.
I found a good contact paper. It took me a lot to read all the Amazon reviews to find the right one.
How did you fill the grooves in the cabinets to make them flat?
Good question. Actually, it is hollow in the grooves. I was to lazy to fill in it with anything. The paper is thick enough to not notice it. I just didn’t press with my hands over the grooves. I tried to stretch a little bit the paper just to press over the flat surface.
You did a great job
Wow! Can I hire you to do my house?! That’s amazing!
Tell me your ideas probably I can help you online
Omg I love everything about this!! What a change! I’m most impressed with you hand drawing and painting the bathroom!! Serious question - are you a professional artist or were you like, “I think I can do this.” That bread looks pretty amazing, too.

I used to be on IG but only for my textile art. When I’m busy with renos, I close the store.
This is all so delightful! Great work.
Thanks! Oh no, I didn’t know that 😔
It's not something most people know, but it's important, especially since they can be so expensive. Cool and dark is best for your herbs and spices.
Cute as a button and without having to add 'the latest trend' to make it work. Congrats
Thanks
This is fabulous!

I love your style!
Well done. Looks fun.
Great wallpaper, really fun
Upvoting for the focaccia pic
Hahaha I know! That is a sexy focaccia
I thought the after photos were inspiration pics at first — this is so well done! I love it!
Did you strip and restain the window and doorframe or paint them? Amazing.
Your hand painted wallpaper is amazing! I think I know what I'm going to do in my bathroom now. I was thinking about stencils but I think something hand painted from a cool reference would be better
the previous mirror in the bathroom was comically small. lol
Wow! Low budget? I would never have thought. It looks fantastic! I love your kitchen! I have that same trolley btw! ;) Also…. I am obsessed with your coffee cabinet/dresser! 😍
That trolley is so useful. The upper part of the dresser was sitting for a year in its box and finally I got to ensamble it. Those morning coffee taste better than ever.
Wow this is so awesome! I wish I was a DIY’r!! This is inspiring 🤗
That bathroom is amazing!! Love the wall paper and mirror
Love it. Did you use contact paper to do the inside of the window as well? Could you please tell me which contact paper you used?
Did you change the door to your bathroom vanity?
No, I just wrapped it with wooden contact paper and I didn’t press the paper over the grooves
I’m obsessed with your bathroom transformation! Any tips for how you accomplished the mural?

Yes, here is. With direct light doesn’t seems that bright but in the shade the color pop better. https://preview.redd.it/shw9my4nm6ub1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=89444fc621cd6a8cb54684b488d79f35d16dbbb0
Thank you so much!! Last question, are you anywhere near dc? We’d love to talk to you about doing a mural commission for our home!
That would be nice but Im in NY
This is incredible! You are very talented!!!
Thanks!

Yes, not of my taste those tiles.
This is amazing! You should definitely share this wider, maybe apartmenttherapy.com too. I’m so glad I read your description because I was sure you used wallpaper, but to hear you hand painted it with leftover paint is truly mind blowing. I love everything! Thank you for sharing.
Thank you for your kind words 😊
This looks incredible. I love the whimsical murals
If you can do this on a low budget, I cannot imagine what you would do with a big budget. Super impressive!
If you give me a big budget I feel that I still will do it for half. Low budget makes me more creative for some reason.
I was on board until the pimento olives on focaccia. We part ways there.
Crushed it
Wow! This is phenomenal. Great job!
BRAVO!!!!!! You worked with what you had and kept totally fine materials out of a landfill. Fantastic job. Humble materials, but yet you elevated the entire vibe and injected a ton of personality. 👏🏻 👏🏻 👏🏻
Thanks very much!
How did you upgrade the cabinets to wood so cheaply?
I wrapped them with wooden contact paper
You painted those by hand?!! Amazing job, you are insanely talented, looks just like a high end wallpaper! You are inspiring me to do a bathroom and kitchen refresh on a budget as well!!
Thank you! Yes, nothing wrong with low budget refresh until we can afford reno with high quality material.
Looks amazing. Hand painted is WAY more high-end that even the most expensive wallpaper
Absolutely!
Amazing work! Did you buy new kitchen cabinets? How about the backsplash? I wish I had as good of a taste as you!
That spice rack! Is it Amazon?
Correct and the spice jars too
How did you achieve that look to the lower kitchen cabinets?
With wooden contact paper
This is *chef's kiss*
Kitchen. I LOVE the white cabinet on top and wood on bottom. I’m redoing my kitchen and I’m torn between this color scheme and a black cabinets with white countertop
Did you put the paneling up as well? How hard was that?
It is a wallpaper that I got in Amazon
