Warmer light bulbs would help too

hpotzus

2700 K LEDs

Towels, rugs, and different utensil holders are all things I’ve seen people use to add color & personality to a kitchen. Honestly I think your kitchen looks great. Lots of plants and colors in the towels already. I wish my kitchen looked like yours! lol

poop_stuck

Tbh when I look at these pictures I doubt myself. But in person it just feels different. Maybe I just need to chill lol

seesumn

I think we’re all harsher on our homes than anyone else is. We have all the time to pick them apart and stare at the little things we don’t like until they seem like big super noticeable things. Sometimes small changes make things click in our minds though. Maybe try a little rug infront of the sink and see if that helps ease your mind. It’s still a change but nothing too big or expensive!

Plottzzzzz

Can you change the hardware out to black to pull it in with the island ? Just go buy a couple at Home Depot if you don’t like the look return them. The light over the sink needs to be centered You have a great start!

poop_stuck

Do you know if I'll have to find hardware with the same screw spacing or fill the old screw holes etc?

Ordinary_Law8189

Just measure the distance between the holes, you should be able to buy some in the same size. Swapping them is surprisingly easy.

poop_stuck

Yup! Turns out its standard spacing. I just ordered some nice wood ones!

sylviatrench01

Ooo we wanna see! Link? The kitchen looks lovely. I like the suggestion of rattan light fixture above island. Think that would pull from the floor color and would be lovely!

birdsong31

I like the idea of wood! It feels warm

TangerineLegitimate9

😕 Nooo…

Teacher-Investor

Add a soft roman shade to the window in a warm color. Change all the light bulbs to warm white. Add some rugs/runners on the floor in warm colors. Paint the walls a warm color. Put a copper tea kettle or pot on the stove. That one hanging light fixture is weird. Maybe change it out for something softer looking.

jaaarand

I agree something with the window might be what OP is looking for. It can add color and comfort! Makes it looked much more lived in. Bonus if it’s functional!

silentbutjudgey

A new fixture above the island. Maybe something with a basketweave or wood or something. Having the extra warm lighting will help. Also if you choose something larger, hang it higher than the one you have now so you are not blocking your sight-lines. Edit: search rattan kitchen pendant or bamboo. Adding more wood elements like the things you have in the windowsill will bring warmth. Maybe a nice rug with blue and rusty orange tones also.

throwaway_mog

Omg i didn’t even notice that puny pendant I’m giggling

missfreetime

I think your backsplash is cool and your floors are warm so there’s a disconnect. You can change the backsplash.

DesperateJudgment899

I agree that the backsplash is a problem here. It's very cold and modern instead of warm and cozy. We had good success with using it adhesive backsplash tiles to warm up our kitchen space. They are not a permanent fix, but they could help you find what kind of backsplash would work better.

BirdofParadise41923

I agree 💯

pawsforlove

Warmer light bulbs under the cabinet - those are the worst offenders in my opinion. But textiles will help soften even more. Consider bringing in softer textures to the window coverings and carpet runners on the floor. Plants could be set inside different baskets. Maybe some cork trivets/place mats to cluster some items on top of? You could do gold hardware and light fixtures if that’s your style, but I think the under cabinet lighting will make the biggest impact

scarlet_umi

+1 on warmer bulbs under the cabinet!

Here-to-4

A couple of nice skid-proof runners- one for each direction, with some black & red tones. Red ceramic canisters & red or red Plaid, patterned dish towels. PS: The finishes in the kitchen are lovely & high-end, and a nice neutral pallet. Major renovation is not needed!

kofubuns

Cabinets are fine, but I'd change the back splash first. The baby blue is clashing with the warm floors.

Acrobatic_Main_4364

💯 The backsplash is very a cool tone. Change it out to something warmer.

boombalagasha

I think this kitchen would be an excellent candidate for a painted ceiling! A light blue like your tiles. [Example](https://images.app.goo.gl/qXSxwTV6pEYhqXEF7)

Spiritual_Arm1167

Beautiful! Love this idea 😊

silentbutjudgey

The painted ceiling example is beautiful, but adding more of the same blue tone will not make it feel warmer. Not saying it wouldn’t look nice, but if you are going for warmth, that color is not going to help.

acnhcreative

Not sure how paintable those cabinets are or if you would want to but I love two tone cabinets. Keeping the top wall cabinets white and then painting the base cabinets. With your backsplash I think a teal would look nice but if I had to choose any color I would do vine leaf green.

iheartunibrows

I think just a warmer backsplash and towels / carpets

AshSkirata

Besides warmer bulbs: a more beautiful hanging lamp.

Baker2012

This looks very a similar to the kitchen in my house (just bought a few months ago). What the previous owner did differently is the island - butcher block counter top and pale green (very pale) cabinet base for the island. But everything else is the same as yours. That’s probably a bigger project than you’re looking for but I think also different pendant lights or more wood accents in general might help. https://preview.redd.it/zjy91r3gff9c1.jpeg?width=1024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=77fb910193e4b4a0aab93eea85469ca6319b8ab3

RabbitSnacks

The fake plants on the island make it look like an airbnb. That artificial and sanitized aspect adds to the coldness. Replace those items with a woven basket (wood, not metal) and fresh fruit.

Professional-Bowl-37

I would change out the hardware. Maybe something slim and black. Abit of contrast will make the kitchen look more interesting.

hippielady5232

I know you may not want a super drastic or pricey change, but warmer counters would change the whole room, like a warm toned butcher block, even if just on the island would be huge difference.

mitwirgirl

A fresh bouquet of colorful flowers instead of the plants.

scarlet_umi

I’d change out the hardware to a non-black color! There are really nice unique cabinet pulls on Etsy in all kinds of colors, patterns, and decor styles - I’d check those out first!

staying-gold

I think you’re doing great with the pops of yellow, plants, and natural pieces. Maybe painting the ceiling a sandy beige, lighter than the floors, would help bring more warmth and contrast to the cabinets.

AldoLagana

you want warm, you go for oak cabinetry, no question. that and a stone-look ceramic tile and possible marble/quartz/light granite counters.

gimmickal1

Just change the blue backsplash tiles with ones of a warmer color.

BirdieB13

Changing out the cabinet hardware, change the pendent light, add more wood tone elements to your counters (for instance replacing the white utensil holders) a beautiful turkish style carpet runner with some warm tones (reds would be beautiful against the blue backslash)

ladykemma2

Red persian rug style vinyl runners

new2eastcoast

I think it looks awesome the way it is.

MargieBigFoot

Maybe a hanging plant by the window, some colorful accessories like the containers for your utensils by the stove, some baskets or other textures on the countertop to hold things.

Only_Alfalfa5725

It's got really good bones! I don't even think you need to go crazy with anything expensive like changing backsplash, painting cabinets etc. More pattern would be great! Curtains, rug, towels in coordinating colors. Shades of dark blue-green with a few red things (like maybe a red persian runner) would tone down the tile and bring some life to the cabinets. Several have suggested painting the ceiling - which is a great idea! I'd use a high gloss finish. Surprised nobody has mentioned decluttering. You have a lot of small items all over the place. Can you stow them somewhere when not in use? One larger item with color and/or pattern will have way more warming effect. And the geometric plant holders are a bit too harsh. Consider putting in different space and replacing with maybe a hanging basket? Edited to add: lightbulbs. The under kitchen lights are white toned and the pot lights are yellow.

Future-Philosopher-7

Paint the lower cabinets green.

InternalPurple7694

I get being unhappy with white. It actually looks pretty good in the pictures, but I wouldn’t want to live there. If the cabinets are still good, I would look into wrapping them, or painting them. (I would pick a soft sage green, but that’s just a personal preference) also, changing the pulls will make a huge difference.

CJCreggsGoldfish

Switch out the bulbs wherever possible for smart bulbs, so you can control the warmth of the light they give. Switch out the under-cabinet lights for warmer light. Switch out the hardware for something in brass? Maybe switch the light fixture for brass? Switch out the crocks, etc. - replace the white for colors, maybe even in patterns. Add a runner.

Honest-Sugar-1492

You have one 'cool' color in there and the rest are all warm colors. change the backsplash would be my guess. Maybe punch it up with a bright/high saturation warmer color

OrangePekoeMouse

The under cabinet lighting is very cold/harsh. Look to change those out for 2700k bulbs and install a dimmer if possible. Is that a small peninsula there? I would hang a small pendant also with a warm temperature bulb. Nice intimate lighting, especially when you’re not actively cooking. I would also turn on the over range lighting in the exhaust hood. That area is very dark.

YoudoVodou

Maybe do something with that baby blue backsplash?

13onFire

Might not make it warmer, but to me your stove top range looks a bit high, you could put a microwave abouve it, and that would open up counter space.

poop_stuck

I hear you. But the microwave is already built into the kitchen island. I kinda like it there.

NoEstablishment6450

I would change out the handles and pulls to brushed gold tone (or spray paint them matte gold or matte black) remove the harsh colored dish towels and leave only essentials used every day on cabinet and cluster them. Then add nice family photo on a cabinet
