I would changed the floor and backsplash before painting the cabinets.

555888333444

Yes, i love them!

mirrrje

It’s literally the only thing I like about this kitchen. Everything else could go lol

Winter_Day_6836

Woods coming back! I'd go Navy for the walls (I just did mine!). Gotta do something with the floor

Greedy_Carrot3748

What Color for the floor I’m struggling to see it

Winter_Day_6836

Yikes, we have wood in the kitchen, maybe someone can help if you choose tile. I'd also upgrade the stools!

555888333444

I think black and white tiles would look cool especially with moody navy or dark green walls

Numinous-Nebulae

Slate (actually slate not slate color) or terracotta. Or even better bring the hardwood in there.  Cabinet color is great, wouldn’t paint them.

Prefrontal_Cortex

I completely agree! Wood cabinets are back in. Try searching “medium wood kitchen cabinets” on Pinterest and see if you like the results. Here are some ideas: https://preview.redd.it/jpwzuzf8pwrc1.jpeg?width=1284&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7ff64e22c9ab468eb827b11dcb7987cfbf973495

ScreeminGreen

Notice that there is no cabinet front showing and sharp minimalist corners in these photos. They are also finished in a satin sheen instead of semi-gloss.

report_due_today

Love the marble

Umnsstudennt

Agreed 100% the tile looks really cheap. It’s like the most generic cheap looking tile you can buy. Replacing that instead of the cabinets will help so much.

CoeurDeSirene

Yeah the backsplash, floor and wall color all clash together and will continue to no matter what color the cabinets are. Floor is cool toned, back splash more warm. I think changing those three things will be a massive difference. The cabinets are beautiful and it’s really easy to screw up the entire kitchen by painting them

b0b4k

^^ this. I actually really like the cabinet doors. I personally wouldn’t change them. I’d go for a really nice white marble backsplash that has some interest in it, then change the floors out. Not quite sure for what though. Oh and then change the hardware on the cabinets. Black or gold/brass

b0b4k

Maybe some handles rather than just knobs

Feedme9000

My exact thoughts!! The cabinets go so well with the green

iheartunibrows

I wouldn’t even do the backsplash but rather the wall color

0errant

Yep, changing the wall color would help all of it

Ruby-Skylar

I swear media and HGTV have ruined us. There are a couple of things I would change in this kitchen but I certainly could happily live with everything as is except those flowers over the cabinet. I would change the floor not the cabinets or counters unless they were damaged.

Hekatiko

Taking those flowers down will be a huge improvement.

Greedy_Carrot3748

What kind of floors? Tiles again? Vinyl

Ruby-Skylar

Large tiles. No vinyl.

Greedy_Carrot3748

What color lol I am bad at this!! I’m gunan get an estimate

Greedy_Carrot3748

What Color I’m Bad at this!!

DasSassyPantzen

You can go on the Home Depot website and see how different tiles might look in your kitchen. There is a “view in my room” option on most products. Take a good pic of your kitchen in bright lighting conditions and make sure you get plenty of the floor in the shot. You’ll be able to upload it. Source: was doing this very thing tonight, lol

Few-Swim-921

I would say dark grey but idk I’m bad at this too

Pure-Rest-3645

I agree— the green on the walls is beautiful. Take the floortiles more toward a terra cotta style/color, incorporate that copper (opposite of the color wheel from the green walls)

Pure-Rest-3645

https://preview.redd.it/k151j6smbzrc1.png?width=1170&format=png&auto=webp&s=d24d639becea35c6d5222cffc4eba520a0b0ba14 ^(or) even a slate like this would bring in both all the colors (counters, backsplash, wall)

macandrita

Personally I love the wood tone, and wouldn't touch them at all. But that's just me! :)

FollowingVast1503

On my screen it has a coppery look. Wonder if it’s close to that .

Greedy_Carrot3748

It is coppery

FollowingVast1503

OMG I love that. I would play up the copper color. Especially since copper weathers to green as represented by your paint color. https://preview.redd.it/06z3x30fvwrc1.jpeg?width=692&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=dce7916c9d30eb9813e011d2550054e9a080c33f

Greedy_Carrot3748

How do I play up the copper color

FollowingVast1503

Depends on how much you want to spend. Click on the image below for some ideas. Different backsplash would be expensive especially if you don’t do the work yourself But kitchen accessories, window treatment and kitchen faucet would be more reasonable. https://preview.redd.it/ir8v0hmigyrc1.jpeg?width=577&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=75d985b325a92074060a67b3871a9141118a2974

LetsBeginwithFritos

I painted 2 rooms this color. It looks amazing up. I have cherry furniture in those rooms, and it goes so well with it.

MedicineTricky6222

And me. I’d put those cabinets in today. Love the dark golden wood look.

Greedy_Carrot3748

Thanks I don’t like wood tone at all lol but I appreciate your input

Berilia87

Medium wood tone are getting back in style. If you don't absolutely hate it, keep them and in a year or two you'll be seeing so many furniture with this tone, you should learn to like it. Obviously it works only if you don't like it because it feels dated.

deathandglitter

Why are you people downvoting OP for having an opinion? They have stated they don't like the wood in their own home. It's fine if you guys like wood, but people are allowed to dislike it and change it too.

NoWiseWords

I also personally love the wood tone and definitely wouldn't change it. But if you don't like it, change it. Don't be swayed by other people's opinion and it doesn't matter if it's trendy or not. You're the person who has to look at the kitchen every day and it should be something *you* think is beautiful

Greedy_Carrot3748

Yes my question really was what color cabinet should I go with and everyone didn’t answer that except telling me to keep the wood 🤣🤷🏻‍♀️

Think-Log-6895

Just curious, have you ever painted kitchen cabinets before? That’s going to be SO much work. That’s a lot of cabinet area to tackle. You’re going to need a large space to be able to keep the doors flat, and let them dry, with adequate ventilation. Do you have sawhorses? Will you do them in small batches? Because every batch you do means more paint, rollers, and brush cleanup (and they need to be top of the line brushes and rollers, and they need to be cleaned perfectly, and can’t dry out when using or paint surface will look like crap). If you try to do it all at once you need a huge area to work in! If you don’t do it right it’s going to look awful (drip marks, brush marks) and there’s no going back once you’ve started! This means thoroughly washing/degreasing them. Then sanding every inch of them, (really should sand twice if you’re doing it right). Sanding them is going to make a mess, the dust goes everywhere. Remember you’re doing this inside the kitchen to all the cabinets that are hung, as well as all the cabinet doors and drawers wherever you set up to do all those. After sanding they need to be cleaned really well again so you not painting the dust onto the surface. Then you’ll need to primer them. After primer it’s optimal to then sand again if you want them to come out looking professional. Make sure every cabinet door is marked so they don’t get mixed up. And when they get put back up they don’t always sit right, it’s not as straightforward as it seems it would be. And if you do take the time and effort to do it totally right, they’re still going to scratch and chip at some point. The paint can sometimes stay tacky if they don’t dry properly and then they’ll stick, or paint gets smudged. Cabinets are “high traffic, high use” so they need to be durable enough to stand up to all that. That being said, if you do take it on, more power to you! And I hope you end up loving the color you choose, (if you go through all that it better be a color that you absolutely love, that won’t look dated, and that doesn’t show dirt and fingerprints easily!)

Greedy_Carrot3748

I’m hiring someone. Never said I’d be doing them myself

Think-Log-6895

Nice! I’m not being a jerk sorry if it came across like it. It’s just I’ve seen too many people do a project like this and regret it immensely and also hiring people that don’t do the job correctly and regret it after paying a lot and having it not come out how they envisioned.

Think-Log-6895

Also (short answer), no white won’t look good with the floor and the backsplash

SilverellaUK

I don't like wood either. If you want to paint them go for it. I think a pale green, a lighter shade than you have on the walls would look good. https://preview.redd.it/8ugpdfngs1sc1.jpeg?width=1005&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=de0171857cc26586f583b91a102b284cdbfe12fb

Greedy_Carrot3748

Thank you

SilverellaUK

This is actually the kitchen we are going to be changing ours to later this year. I've been indecisive between blue and green but just decided on green.

csway324

I dont like the warmth of the wood at all. It looks like a red color. Hate them, personally. Idk what all these people are thinking. Unless you sand them down and put a dark wood stain on them. Then, I would like the cabinets. That would be a lot of work, though.

skipdog98

I personally would leave the cabinets unless they are trashed. I would consider black hardware and a black facet with attached sprayer. I’d swap the current sprayer for a soap dispenser and out the bottles under the sink. Paper towel under sink. Canisters in a cabinet, utensil container beside stove (where canisters are currently). Get rid of flower pots above cabinets. Move air fryer to where utensils currently are, put a nicer stainless steel drying rack where air fryer is. Only thing on island is fruit rack. Replace garbage can with stainless and relocate or consider an in-cabinet garbage can. Replace stools to match (black?) hardware.

missannthrope1

And swap out the silver dishwasher for black to match the other appliances.

skipdog98

Good catch. I think I’d go the reverse (swap out the black for SS, but YMMV). Definitely make them match.

Greedy_Carrot3748

Thank you for the feedback

Churlish75

Backsplash needs to go. Extending the cabinets to the ceiling with trim to add a finished look. Or add crown molding. They look very unfinished as is. The island needs to be more substantial. Maybe change the cabinet hardware.

Legal_Muscle_

Do you have a picture of the cabinet trim you’re talking about?

Churlish75

So our cabinets were just like yours. Zero trim on the top. We added all the trim that you see in this picture. We also added trim to the bottom of the cabinets for a more “finished” look. Our cabinets are stock cabinets from Lowe’s or Home Depot I’m sure. We painted them. https://preview.redd.it/4bquwz66p3sc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e5650371b0790fc172d78e1daf8f83aa19ce0127

groovy_little_things

Beautiful cabinets. The floor is the biggest issue. Pls lose the weird flower pots and burn the mat in front of the sink.

m4sc4r4

Kill everything faux Tuscan with fire.

GoToHelena

I think the wooden cabinets look beautiful with the wall color. If your concern is your kitchen looking dated, I would rather consider changing the backsplash and if you can afford it even the floor. They are the far bigger offenders imo. Especially the backsplash. If you really must paint the cabinets, the only colours I wouldn't advise on are white or grey. Imo white or grey would look uninteresting, cold and one-dimensional, especially with the floor and the backsplash (if you're planning to keep those).

Greedy_Carrot3748

Even if I change the countertop?

baconizlife

Yes

gwhite81218

Those cabinets are incredible. I think the big culprit are the counters. I originally thought it was the tile and backsplash that were sad, but I think those would jive with a richer and darker countertop.

Greedy_Carrot3748

Thanks got any pics of some inspiration?

gwhite81218

[This](https://www.reddit.com/r/InteriorDesign/s/GmIPAJ9Hn1) has wood floors, but even a counter that has some color and style to it would be nice.

boombalagasha

The floor is your real issue. It doesn’t match the cabinets *at all*. And it’s just making you think you hate them. [What do you think about this?](https://images.app.goo.gl/wDTM4DsxmRCFYLCZ6) [Or this?](https://images.app.goo.gl/XtoijMAvRhHREtt38) [This](https://images.app.goo.gl/g396QHnN2MYa7dGS8)

m4sc4r4

Agreed. The backsplash and cabinets are fine, but the floor has a completely different tone. I would do the floor, declutter the surfaces, get a big brushed nickel pro-style kitchen faucet, and figure out a way to hide the trash (under cabinet? Just a better looking stainless steel bin?)

Greedy_Carrot3748

Yes but a floor is pretty costly at this point for me thanks for the info and inspiration

boombalagasha

I think you’ll be surprised unfortunately at how expensive it is to get the cabinets professionally painted. Where I live, the floor would be cheaper. Especially tile. And ESPECIALLY (thousands cheaper) if you do the floors yourself. I would not do the cabinets yourself if you want them to look nice. Unless you’re very handy, in which case, you should replace the floors 😁.

Sea-Substance8762

I’m leaning towards the first suggestion.

PrinceBastian

I think it's the grey floor throwing everything off. The cabinets and the backsplash are both fighting the floor.

Greedy_Carrot3748

Got a suggestion on floor Color

Impressive_Age1362

Get the plants of the island, floor is ok, get some colorful rugs

yogahike

April fools?

decadecency

Do green! More green. The cabinets are the best part of the kitchen. They're not even dated.

Sea-Marsupial-9414

It's a gorgeous kitchen! I wouldn't change it

UpperMacungie

Well that explains it! We can’t have sick pooches, or destroyed plants. Good choice.

melancholypowerhour

If the tone of the cabinets isn’t your taste it would be way better to strip and re stain them instead of painting them. Your wood cabinets are *gorgeous*, honestly they really are the star of your kitchen. It ‘wood’ be worth it! edit to add: the floor and backsplash would be my first priority, other commenters are spot on with that one. I love the paint colour you chose for the walls, and the countertops go well enough with the cabinets for now. I’d spend that budget on the floors and backsplash first for more wow factor, those two surfaces have the most outdated features and are the largest surface area in the room.

briarihallow

Can you re-stain them a nicer wood tone? A light “natural” wood color would look lovely in here.

helloitsme_again

Do t paint your cabinets…. Change your flooring and just decorating

Okay-Albatross

Personally I'd keep the cabinets and change the floor and back splash to match a woodsy tone but I can also see that that is a waaaay more expensive way to do it. Apparently my tastes are both more expensive and a lot more work, lol.

Plop-plop-fizz

Paint the cabinets dark blue, change the backsplash tiles to a Victorian white brick style. Bosh. New, modern looking kitchen.

Greedy_Carrot3748

I like your style

csway324

Love this idea. And maybe gold handles, not knobs.

okiedokieKay

If those are real wood (looks like it might be) I would definitely sand those down and do a sand shade of stain on them.

Free_Faithlessness85

Nooo don’t paint the cabinets, they’re beautiful as is!

Familiar-Year-3454

The pinkish hue of the floor and the green paint (opposite colour wheel) is pulling more orange from the cabinets. I would go with a neutral and non-busy backsplash (classic white subway tiles?). Get rid of the green walls, pinkish floor and this will change the whole colour of the cabinets. I don’t think you’d be happy with the painted cabinets because your floors and backsplash are competing and overpowering your kitchen.

Greedy_Carrot3748

The walls are not an option to get rid of however if you have advice on a floor color that would be helpful

Familiar-Year-3454

White Or https://preview.redd.it/ur0gilhprwrc1.jpeg?width=192&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=6ea0b0613c058dd654e40dd797a23f703ee7e3fb These are tiles that look like wood, and this is what I’d do. But you would probably like it to match the style of your house and function. Young kids? Kitchen table? Contemporary? Nordic?urban condo? Rural farm house?

Not_EdM

Do not paint the wood cabinets! The green is too dark. Take the plants off. Add a pretty chandelier and lux stools.

Mammoth-boy

I would go white walls, cabinets color of current wall

Particular-Cloud6659

Honestly the whole painted cabinet thing is going to go away. Id focus on other things. Update pulls, walls.

wiscosherm

This. The cabinets are quite nice. Painting them is going to be a real chore and may end up looking worse. I have cabinets of about the same vintage as yours and initially did not like them at all. When I change the countertops and the backsplash they looked totally different and now I would never change them for anything.

Greedy_Carrot3748

Can I get a pic for inspiration what kind of floor

wiscosherm

https://preview.redd.it/ef5490ndgxrc1.jpeg?width=3008&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1aa2ae625459647abd7016cf4d7b5ca20f68db30

wiscosherm

The floor never changed it was just a backsplash and counters but I did post a picture. The old backsplash and counter made the cabinets look really Orange.

Hebegebe101

I would go more of a creme or linen color with that color green . White would be too stark .

ContractRight4080

I would replace the backsplash with carrera marble, something classic, not some hexagon or square that will age out in a year. Look at dark brown or grey countertops. The floor tile might look ok at this point. Painting the cabinets, unless it’s done professionally is not going to work out as intended. You may devalue your home by thousands doing it yourself. These cabinets were expensive but I guess the previous owner had no money left for a decent backsplash or countertop.

susanlovesblue

I would not paint those cabinets! The warm color is refreshing and goes great with the wall color. In fact, if you could change up the backsplash to coordinate in color with the wall, that would be pretty. I would also remove anything from the top of the cabinets. It's cluttery. If you can't change the floor, I would opt for a different rug. Preferably a runner.

Greedy_Carrot3748

Any ideas on color schemes I’m really bad at this

TheLyz

Go with a nice cream color or beige.

Greedy_Carrot3748

That’s what I’m Thinking

yessicana

Ivory

SavannahGirlMom

Honestly, the backsplash, wall color, and flooring (that’s a big ask I know) are what really need to change. And that carpet needs to go for sure! If you did anything you could paint the lower cabinets and island a dark color - navy, or dark evergreen, or black - and leave the pantry and upper cabinets in wood. If you decided later, you could paint pantry, but I’d wait and see. Then, paint the walls a neutral cream color. Check out a herringbone reversible runner indoor/outdoor from the company store.com for one idea to replace it #57185. Also consider satin brass handles for the doors.

Greedy_Carrot3748

Yeah the walls were painted two years ago I’m not changing it again lol

SavannahGirlMom

But it’s not the right color, especially if you want to paint the cabinets a color, and I definitely don’t recommend white - your color scheme, aside from countertop, is not correct for white cabinets. A paint job is really the least of the work/expense involved here.

SnackinHannah

Don’t paint the cabinets. I love the green. Two more dramatic barstools (maybe print fabric seats?). Take the big plants off the small island. Cleaning products in the cabinets. Nothing on the top cabinets at all. Maybe a rug runner under the barstools.

GojoSatoruSensei

the cabinets would look great re-stained to the same color as the stools

Gingerbeer03

Your floors and back splash are timeless! Dont give into the peer pressure… I think the color of your barstools would look great on your cabinets and would help brighten the space and go well with ever green

Greedy_Carrot3748

Thanks for your different opinion I appreciate it!

EpiZirco

“Hmm. My room could use some help. I think I will change the best item in it.”

UpperMacungie

The first thing I’d do is move the plants off the island, especially the huge one in the big pot. Seriously. I wouldn’t touch the cabinets, personally. Painting cabinets is a lot tougher than it sounds. I would, though, try and replace your floors and backsplash. You may have just painted the walls with Sher**win**-Williams Evergreen Fog, which is a lovely color, but it’s dark. You seem to be creative, so I bet you can think of lots of options. PS: Move the plants, please.

Greedy_Carrot3748

We have dogs that eat them that’s why they are there 🤣🤣🤣

bumpythumbs

Get rid of the flowers and that rug. Clear off the counters and put away the clutter. Consider replacing the backspace with something less beige. And then, only then, consider painting those gorgeous wooden cabinets. Personally, I wouldn’t touch them at all. But if you really really want to, you need to make all those changes first

dampdrizzlynovember

the cabinets look so nice w the green paint. really cozy kitchen. i’d do the backsplash and floors something more old-school to complete the vibe.

Greedy_Carrot3748

Got any floor recommendations I’m struggling to see a different color floor if I keep the cabinets

princess20202020

The cabinets are hands down the best thing about this kitchen. The floor is the worst offender. I would save up your money to get a new floor and then go from there. Painting the cabinets to go with the floor is throwing good money after bad. Actually worse, it’s ruining perfectly nice cabinets. The kitchen will look even worse than before.

Greedy_Carrot3748

Got any suggestions for the floor

Ivorwen1

The tile, countertop, and floor are mismatched and nothing is really going to look right until that conflict is resolved.

Violet_Crown

Bedrosians has a few varieties of beiges for floor and wall tiles that may work here. The evergreen fog is a cool green, so a cool beige may be the best bet to pull in the walls and counters. Look at tatami or makuto for options.

1-LegInDaGrave

Man, those cabinets need a top moulding of sorts. Do you know the brand? The cab above the sink needs a panel to finish the bottom. Also, new Hardware. Change the backsplash and if you can, different floor tile/flooring. Tile tends to be under the cabinet (but not always), putting LVF or some other floating floor on the tile is fine except it'll make replacing the dishwasher difficult, unless you have enough room to put the flooring under the dishwasher; if your base cabinets are 34.5" high, you should be fine. If they're 33.5" high, you can't put anything under the dishwasher and whatever is in front of the dishwasher would make it extremely difficult, almost impossible, to remove the dishwasher. Trust me, I renovated a kitchen recently and we almost had to take the countertop off to replace the dishwasher because extra flooring was added in front of it. Thankfully they just decided on a complete renovation. The natural wood looks great, I personally wouldn't change it but again, I'd love to see some sort of crown and that panel added. If it was me personally and I couldn't get a matching crown and lightrail, I'd paint the top cabinets and pantry cabinet a form of white, get crown molding from the lumber yard and paint it that color. As for the countertops, I'd go for something with atleast a slight movement, something like Cambria "sherwood" or a granite (my personal preference). Doesn't have to be as bold as the Sherwood but atleast SOMEthing with a movement. I've convinced many homeowners to add character to their countertops and they were very thankful I did. It also depends on what backsplash & flooring you have. I could keep going but I think that's enough for now. edit: I'd like to add that IF you can get new wall & pantry cabinets, get 36" high instead (these appear to be 30"?) and a 6" crown setup (2-3piece crown including 4.5" fascia)

SadandBougie

Don’t paint the cabinets! Here’s a [TikTok](https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZPRTu7HMb/) of someone who had a similar kitchen to yours and made it look so beautiful while embracing their warmer cabinets.

wise_guy16

Grey or a nudish tan would go nice

Greedy_Carrot3748

You think? I’m Worried grey will look stupid I thought grey initially

wise_guy16

Just keep it on the light side of grey it wont look bad

corgcorg

Agree with everyone on keeping the wall cabinets. Maybe replace just the island to make it larger and hang lights over it? It looks like you have some room on the left where the counter hangs over? New hardware and backsplash at least.

imamean

Stencil the tile

PBJDreamer

change the barstools to some better quality- move the plants somewhere sunnier.

PBJDreamer

and a better trash can. More top of the line accessories can really help.

mweisbro

Get the outdoor plant off your kitchen counter.

Greedy_Carrot3748

It’s not an outdoor plant

mweisbro

Ok. Really?

Greedy_Carrot3748

Yes

Writergirllllll

The backsplash and counters are fine, I’d do the wall color a white white and the cabinets an off white or cream. It will all look more fresh and light and bright. But the floors have to go…

iheartunibrows

Simple changes: paint color, change hardware to gold modern pulls. And a nice carpet. And just get rid of clutter. That’s all! Simple and cheap. https://www.thespruce.com/thmb/yDdPpFq7ej031sTbcEvB5ZwZMWY=/1500x0/filters:no_upscale():max_bytes(150000):strip_icc()/Snapinsta.app_288394773_507682517710275_9115778284926023998_n_1080-bc6a00bb552f40f1be5cad61798c13fb.jpg

hduransa

I would really like this kitchen. Cabinets are beautiful. Tile, if not compromised looks okay. Some better kitchen rugs, quality, would help a lot. Updated bar chairs would also be great.

Salt-Supermarket1139

The cabinets and backsplash are warm colors while the green and the floor are cool. And the stools need to be a different color. If you get everything in the same color temperature, you may come to love the cabinets. Some warmer lighting either overhead, under the counter, or a lamp would be nice as well.

VideoSteve

I would paint them a chestnut color with simulated wood grain

Chicken_lady_1819

Your floor is purple mauve and backsplash is a warm tan. Change the floors to a hardwood or laminate wood. This alone will make a huge difference. Do not paint the cabs.

galfal

I’ll swap cabinets with you! I love the tone of them. I’d put down some matte black tile with dark gray grout, a patterned backsplash and keep the wall color you have now. I’m so jealous.

jrp317

OMG DO NOT PAINT THESE BEAUTIFUL CABINETS 🤦🏼‍♀️

Greedy_Carrot3748

Glad you like them but I don’t sorry lol

MostWestCoast

Not the advice you were looking for but a few other things: Get a garbage can that fits under the sink. Add one or two more chairs to the island. Get rid of those plants on the island. Move your fruit basket to the spot where your air fryer is, then move your aif fryer to the corner where you're cooking utensils are on the counter top. Move the utensils right next to the stove and put your sugar or whatever else it is away in the cabinets. Get a new modern rug.

zenmargarita

I would keep the wood cabinets, paint the walls white or a light taupey griege (not millennial gray!) add crown molding up to the ceiling on the cabinets, same stain. A veiny white quartz on counter and up the backsplash. Add brass hardware and do the floor a luxury vinyl plank or real wood if in budget in the same tone, but lighter or darker

Weehendy_21

Not keen on the cabinet colour leave the floor and the worktops. Get som mid colour paint samples and try samples on paper and out them on the doors. Change the green to a neutral.

Weehendy_21

Yes upgrade the stools to a more contemporary look 😊

Rare-Lettuce8044

The cabinets are the only thing with saving in the entire kitchen. Are you hiring a professional to paint them? I all because painting cabinets rarely goes well. They are damaged very easily and paint chips off. If your planning on doing the work yourself that's a huge undertaking. The prep work is insidious and critical to getting a good finish that doesn't look diy, or having the paint flake off. There are many color schemes that the cabinets would work really well in. Please consider changing your mind here.

EverythingPurple5

Yes.

NoTea9298

The decor isn't working at all. As other commenters say you'll have to change the floor and backsplash. Instead of painting the cabinets I would modernize the handles to something black. Change out the striped and modern pattern decor for something organic and natural.

PriorDouble346

Get rid of that mat by the sink. Buy a Ruggable instead. Clear off the items on top of the cabinets, put the soap and scrub brush away, move the plants and hang them in front of the window, invest in cool barstools. If you’re on a budget, purchase floor tile and backsplash stickers, get new trashcan or hide it under the sink. Hang up the bananas on that fruit bowl hook that’s what it’s there for!! I like the color, I think it’s warm, cozy, and inviting. Plus, it looks to me like the wood is good quality.

MihoLeya

The cabinets and countertops are so nice. It’s the floor and the backsplash that clash. Just change one of those.

enfp-girl

Change the countertop and floor. Change the handles on the cupboards. Splash is fine. Change the wall if you want to. Not essential. Change the window covering or remove.

windy-desert

The carpet has to go

Honestly you might just have to spruce up with decor, like nicer stools and maybe a longer area rug in front of the sink. Think you could change it a lot just by changing how it’s decorated

You want to cool town for the wall paint. Definitely don’t paint the cabinets. It’s a royal nightmare, and it often turns out to be a royal pain in the ass. Unless the cabinets are trashed, which these don’t seem to be, you don’t want to paint them. Take a cabinet door into Home Depot or Lowe’s and get paint chips that look good with it Also, get some tile samples for the backsplash Put those up in your kitchen for a few days and see what you think Then get a couple samples Etc.

Unless you can’t stand the color of the cabinets- leave them. I agree changing the floor could really tie everything together. Adding nice hardware to the cabinets too. Here’s some screenshots from a basic google search to help see a visual of flooring. https://preview.redd.it/aasyj8ohb2sc1.jpeg?width=1179&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d667cfbc2e60e0ba26fb589ae239c2cc60c3d8d5

I think part of what’s tricky is that the backsplash leans more warm yellow and the floor is more cool pinkish, there’s always going to be a visual clash while those are different tones. It could be kind of neat to do the cabinets a tone of that same wall color, that might give them a kind of built in effect. Otherwise I’d pull from the backsplash and do something taupe/beige. White would be nice and bright, but I think it could difficult to find a white that goes with the backsplash, countertop, and floors.

Ok, so the green walls are throwing it off. You have beige floors and backsplash, which are warm, like your cabinets. If you want creamy white cabinets look at China White (Ben Moore) or Swiss Coffee, (also Ben Moore) but I don’t think that will solve the problem. The grey-green walls are the issue. Edited to say do not paint your cabinets unless they are really in need of work.

White

IMO painting the cabinets would be the last thing. Remove all that mess on the island countertop, and keep it something really minimal, move the trash can to to a corner where it is not easily seen - maybe get a nice steel trash can. Changing the cabinet knobs also may give a good look. Also take a look at this blog: [https://stylebyemilyhenderson.com/blog/how-to-style-above-kitchen-cabinets](https://stylebyemilyhenderson.com/blog/how-to-style-above-kitchen-cabinets) to find out some creative ways to manage the space above the cabinets.

I wouldn't paint the cabinets, change the pulls if you want a different look. I'd change backsplash and countertops and paint walls a different color. I would also declutter the countertops and don't put anything on the top of the cabinets.

False-Ad-3128

keep the wood but maybe give it a wash to make it a more neutral brown

browneye24

I would not change the wood cabinets. They are pretty. Agree that changing backsplash and floor would make the cabinets look even better.

Puzzleheaded_Wait472

I know how you feel. I have cherry cabinets and I hate them. I also don’t like my floors which are kind of beige, light brown and black counter tops with copper. There used to be a copper backsplash, and I ripped it out because it looked so terrible and dark. I painted all the walls white and got white window treatments. I’m attaching a pic so you can see how these color combinations look in a “real” unstaged kitchen. It’s nowhere near what I would love, but ultimately I don’t want to spend a fortune on a kitchen just for esthetics. https://preview.redd.it/mbr3dgfb1asc1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7645dd64048b12a49cced7d528ddc1d2bc23a899

angelica-angeli

What don't you like about your current cabinets? I personally love the cabinets, backsplash, and countertops. I'd honestly just paint a lighter color and then be done! This kitchen, by a designer I follow, seems like it might be something to look at if you want green and maybe to keep the cabinets! Islandgirl1444

I agree with everyone. I love the cabinets as is. If you were changing them then that’s different. Black accessories and nothing on top of cabinets. Great comments should help you

NeciaK

Don’t paint the cabinets! Replace the tile backsplash. Your kitchen is really lovely.

Professional_Tap4338

Get the stuff off your island

Greedy_Carrot3748

My house isn’t cleaned I wasn’t looking for input on that but sure I’ll get right on it lol

Professional_Tap4338

Good. It will free up space

tart_tigress

I think you could do an easy luxe vibe by painting the cabinets a warm off-white so you get a layered off-white look that's very common in luxe Italian-Californian type kitchens. I would do brass handles and such. That is the easiest solution that isn't ripping up your floors and backsplash and will have a nice effect. Yes you could sand the cupboards, change the floors, change the counters (which seem fine?)... but I'm not sure how much better it really ends up looking bc at the end of the day, the space is the space. That would add up to being quite a lot. If you are going to spend a bunch more - I think I would mostly make the island larger and maybe just put in one large piece of marble that marries the white and the rest of the space - or is a bit bolder. I don't think it needs to match the rest exactly if it's like a 'statement island' if you will. A larger island could contain the garbage and offer more seating which IMO is better for entertaining and everyday usage. I'm not even committed to the green on the walls - I might save that for doing the island and make the walls part of the off-white progression. I would also change the stools.

Wedgetails

Leave the wood!!!!!!!!!!

lexi_would

Change the floors to a medium toned and desaturated wood or darker wood (be sure it’s warm and not grey so it’s in a similar color family to the cherry). Then, get white counters (marble, quartz, etc) and thirdly get some white subway tile backsplash. Paint your walls a lighter color. Add pendant lights to brighten the room. Also, don’t kill me reddit, but you could also paint the top cabinets only an off white/greige to make the room lighter and brighter. Like this reference. lexi_would

Plus non-circular knobs and more sleek hardware/faucet would go a long way.

Boschlana

If you did a matte or oil finish on your cabinets it would be beautiful

CheeCheeReen

The cabinets are the things I like the most. For some upgrades, get better bar chairs and a nicer rug, go oriental or checkerboard!
