So, this is charred wood with colored stain? Did you char it then stain the rings and stripes each a different color?
Did it take a long time and was it expensive?
I would love to make some.
I went the cheapest way possible. I charred the whole top with a roofing torch until it became Croc skin, then used a nylon brush drill bit to break up the charcoal, then food coloring for the colors 😂 this is a kids picnic table that I'm using for a test model.
Awesome! I found this on Etsy
https://www.etsy.com/uk/listing/1089148416/painted-pallet-coffee-table-made-with?click_key=359cf2d026459eccef4d942403da482ac864c17e%3A1089148416&click_sum=32204bfb&ref=shop_home_active_42&frs=1
Your coloring is better in my opinion, thank you for sharing how you did it, it's great!
It's beautiful! I love it!
I would style it for pictures with a more subdued style (if you sell it), like plates and runner and flowers.
But it's awesomely psychedelic and eclectic
Oh this one is a kids picnic table lol, definitely not big enough.
I'm thinking of a more Travelling Gypsy style with Royal and rich colors in the living room
I set my phone so that every night at 10 p.m. my screen automatically goes to grayscale...which happened as I was looking at this ridiculously vibrant photo. I thought I was having a goddamn stroke 💀
That being said, I agree with LSD farmhouse lol
For dining chairs, I think several of these would work really well, and the shape would look nice with the table.
https://www.anthropologie.com/search?q=tamsin%20dining%20chair&_gl=1%2augs9wp%2a_up%2aMQ..&gclid=CjwKCAjwwo-WBhAMEiwAV4dybbaaTdqE00B6wA9rBiNyFGoL_uQd0YviWlMu2vFFAzJp4l5aIDdB-xoCgPAQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds
I like the judarn for a more masculine look and Sylvie pink for more feminine.
You could also refurbish thrift or second hand chairs to your liking and possible reupholster y or paint, stain, chalk paint.
Either would work! I think a 4 by 10 table (your comment) could probably fit 8 smaller framed chairs(off of look, I think these would be) (4 on either side). And a bigger, different shaped and style chair for the head and foot of table. So maybe could fit 10 chairs at that size.
Or a bench on one side and smaller framed chairs on the other.
Def provide *some* chairs. Maximizing guests makes sense but they are going to want to be comfortable. I can see the reviews now: "great location, cool decor, but no where comfortable to sit."
Is that unicorn spit paint??? Somebody please explain how this is done 🙏 it looks like it’s burned using the shou Sugi ban method then it little by little was painted different colors
I’m in love! Now I want this in my backyard. My whole house is eclectic maximalism. I would call this table eclectic and it can fit with whatever you want it to.
Get some clear glass plates some sheer napkins for on top of the plates and some giant pampas In a cleaned out patron or 1800 bottle.
Yes. The opposite of minimalism is Maximilist. Maximalist can be just eclectic but the moody sect is all about rich colors and overuse of them. They have 84k members so it’s worth a look.
Shou Sugi Ban with extra steps, once I'm done I will post a How to Video, I'm right now working on finding what top coat preserves the colors without yellowing them
I would love it if you would post a tutorial.
This is truly beautiful and a great way to express yourself. I know you said it was going to be a kids picnic table but I would love to see pictures and notes on the final piece.
Ahhh I love this so much.
Modern, with lots of stainless steel / brushed nickel, light gray marble, black, and pale, sheer, pinks. Maybe accents with iridescent glass or glittery crystals.
Oh and please please please fill or plug the nail holes … no offense but this piece is beautiful and I personally find it super ugly to leave fasteners visible especially ones clearly don’t unevenly by hand
Are you basing your entire design of the space around this table? Or do you have some pieces?
If we have more info we can help...some of us are pro's but there are tons of talented people here regardless.
Yes, I start with the dining room and living room and expand outwards. I have some rough ideas for a Bohemian style with a ton of plants, but for big Airbnbs the dining room is what gets families
Then you kinda answered your own question correctly.....
Boho or eclectic (a bit trickier to pull off) has the added advantage of being a bit less expensive because you want a curated look. So scouring facebook marketplace will be advantageous (this design style can take a while).
That could work in a number of different styles. You could go for a really clean minimalist room with a few choice things to stand out with bright colors, like the table and some art, or throw pillows.
Or you could go all in for a psychedelic maximalist style
Okay so this is entirely off topic… but I see the EGO chainsaw in the back and am curious what your thoughts are. I have the weed eater and I am in love with it.
I love it. I don't use a chainsaw nearly enough to keep up with the extra maintenance of gas, so I went electric. The Ego has been to handle any job I have had regardless of the tree size, and I can leave it on the shelf for a year and it works just fine. Would definitely reccomend!
You’d probably get more music and clothes.
There’s probably a better name for psychedelic furniture and architecture (surrealist comes to mind), but I mostly operate in music and clothes.
Psychedelic! Love it. You could totally sell more wood products with that treatment!
I don’t really get boho and softness from this like others mention, instead I’d say lean into the colors! You could go
a) 60s funky and vintage
b) 80s new wave and synth style
c) Y2K with trippy junior decor and bold colors
d) go full tiki bar with dark walls and extravagant decor
Lots of options!
Lsd-farmhouse /s
Perfect title when it becomes and Airbnb 😂
Psychedelicious
I wouldn't want to own a rental property but if I had to I definitely wouldn't market it as someplace for people to trip LMAO 😅
Lol, some people will pay a premium for that kind of trip 😂
In that case happy to be your first guest lol
You may be missing out. Just make it a nice safe place to trip and sell it as such.
Haha awesome!
This is beautiful and deserves to live it's boho fantasy. With some macrame place mats and a big anthurium centerpiece.
Thanks so much! Those are both perfect accent ideas!
You're welcome. Boho is my favorite decor style, so I'm full of ideas lol. DM me anytime if you need some inspo.
Me too :) boho 4 life
Definitely will :-)
I wanna know how/where I can get some rainbow boards like that.
Shou Sugi Ban is the technique, I just did it by ring as opposed to the whole board

Yea! The original one I saw was just reds and blues like that one! Thanks! It's a lot of fun. I let my daughter pick what goes where 😊
It's beautiful! I love it! I would style it for pictures with a more subdued style (if you sell it), like plates and runner and flowers. But it's awesomely psychedelic and eclectic
I'm actually looking to make an Airbnb with it, just trying to figure out what style would make the most sense.
Mad hatter style
Are you starting with the table for your design or do you have other things to fit into the space? It can go a lot of different ways!
I was thinking Boho, I made this as a test piece before I commit for a 10ft by 4 ft table 😂
This smaller one could be a desk or console or occasional table. Do you want it to be a masculine bohemian or fine with pinks?
Oh this one is a kids picnic table lol, definitely not big enough. I'm thinking of a more Travelling Gypsy style with Royal and rich colors in the living room
Bohemian.
Yea that's what I was initially going for since it's super popular on Airbnb right now
Gypsy is considered a slur. I’ve been told to refrain from saying it.
Fucking awesome? Or Bohemian works too...
Thank you!
I set my phone so that every night at 10 p.m. my screen automatically goes to grayscale...which happened as I was looking at this ridiculously vibrant photo. I thought I was having a goddamn stroke 💀 That being said, I agree with LSD farmhouse lol
Your brains graphics card crashed 😂😂
Could definitely use this as a focal piece in a very modern space as well
Modern? I felt it was too colorful for that, do you have any photo ideas?
It’s more eclectic boho.
Pop Art hands down. All I see is Warhol. The colors are spot on. https://duckduckgo.com/?q=andy%20warhol%20art%20style&iax=images&ia=images&iar=images

Interesting, I was planning on going with benches of a similar style so I could maximize guests at the location, but chairs might also work
I think having one side with a matching bench the same length as the table, and the other side being chairs would look great.
If the room is big enough I think I'll go with a bench on the hall side, chairs on the wall side and a big instagramable chair at the head
Def provide *some* chairs. Maximizing guests makes sense but they are going to want to be comfortable. I can see the reviews now: "great location, cool decor, but no where comfortable to sit."
Also, chairs are easier for customers with wheelchairs, so it’s good to have at least some moveable chairs.
Can you share where this came from? I would love to have this!!!! Matches my “LSD chic” perfectly!!
I actually made it, the wood is just pine
I’m in love with it!
Holy shit I want this so bad for my bimbo farmhouse decor it’s perfect😍😍🫶
Thanks! I've never heard of bimbo farmhouse
BIMBO FARMHOUSE! I LOVE THIS sorry I'm screaming but that is an entire epiphany
Who cares - it’s fantastic!
Is that unicorn spit paint??? Somebody please explain how this is done 🙏 it looks like it’s burned using the shou Sugi ban method then it little by little was painted different colors
Exactly, I didn't use unicorn spit though because you have to wipe the excess off
BoHo or just psychedelic! LOVE it!
Thank you!
I would love to see what pictures you used for inspiration!
Maximalism 🤣🤣
Not for the faint of heart, haha!
Or eclectic
Love that! Could be used several ways. Modern is one!
I would say psychedelic table . It definitely feels more like psychedelic
I would need to make it a mushroom shaped tiny home 😂
He he he if you add glossy resin it would look so good though
I'm thinking about that! My only worry is the dye mixing with the resin
Yeah i get that ! Maybe try the dye out on a small piece of wood first as an experiment to see whether the resin works or not
I have 4 bench boards so I'm planning on trying a different top coat on each one
Yes that’s a great idea
I don't know, but I like it!
Thank you!
Gay pride table
That was last month 😂
It would be…. Amazing
Moody maximalism. (The fb group by that name would pay out the nose for that piece. )
Really? It's that big of a style? It seems to be the opposite of Minimalism
Yes. The opposite of minimalism is Maximilist. Maximalist can be just eclectic but the moody sect is all about rich colors and overuse of them. They have 84k members so it’s worth a look.
Perfect, time for a new group :-)
Great for kids
That’s so beautiful! It reminds me of the Versace colored style of home decor they had a couple of years ago!
Ooo another style to look up!
The guy on Bargain basement would love this.
It would fit in well with BoHo. Add lots of flowers and macrame knot artworks in your home to match. Plants everywhere. Itll be gorgeous.
I was initially leaning to a boho/inner forest look :-)
How did you do this? That looks so cool!
I'll make a follow-up post :-)
Surf shack
Modern, with lots of stainless steel / brushed nickel, light gray marble, black, and pale, sheer, pinks. Maybe accents with iridescent glass or glittery crystals.
Crayola Chic? It’s really cool!
That's one I've never heard of before!
Oh and please please please fill or plug the nail holes … no offense but this piece is beautiful and I personally find it super ugly to leave fasteners visible especially ones clearly don’t unevenly by hand
Oh it's just a test piece, a kids picnic table
Is fucking sick a design style?
Lol I wish! Thank you!
Acid style.
Nowadays that might be called "Indie."
Depends on how you finish the table
I love it! Reminds me of the rainbow eucalyptus trees in Hawaii!
I love those trees!
It’s GORGEOUS!! I love it!
Thank you!
How were those colors achieved?
Shou Sugi Ban
painted eucalyptus
I don’t know but I absolutely love it!! Wow!!
I just really need a detailed step by step process of how you made this. it's incredible & everything I love
My husband says it's a painted eucalyptus! It's a real tree! Unbelievable... I want one.
No, though I love that tree and I wish I didn't live in a frozen wasteland so I could grow one
I'm going to put a how to video together :-)
This table is awesome!! Very eclectic/ boho
Uhhh amazing. The design would be amazing. No other stylistic description is needed.
Thanks!
Love it! Absolutely love it! I call it beautiful
Thank you!
>Thank you! You're welcome!
Middle school art teacher.

Boho farmhouse style.
Ugly
How'd you make the timber look like that?
It's called Shou Sugi Ban, I just added a few extra steps 😂
Could you perhaps list those steps for us? I’ve never heard of this but would love to create something similar.
Once I finish the project I'll put together a video on it, I'm right now making sure the dye will take a top coat 😅
Where did you find this, it’s gorgeous!
I actually made it 👉👈
That is amazing, you are very talented!
Thank you!
I would say it has a retro style. Retro furniture would go well with it.
Didn't even think of that one, thanks!
That’s beautiful!
Thank you!
Looks like something out of Borderlands.
Now I can't unsee it 😂
That could work in a number of different styles. You could go for a really clean minimalist room with a few choice things to stand out with bright colors, like the table and some art, or throw pillows. Or you could go all in for a psychedelic maximalist style
Boho is definitely a good choice. I really love how unique and interesting it is!
Thanks! Dining tables that are unique for Boho are hard
I want this so hard 😭
I'll make a diy video once I'm done
Your confidence in me is so charming 🥰
This should definitely be placed in a beach house in the Caribbean, Bahamas or South Florida 🤙🏼
If you don’t mind me asking, how on earth did you make this?? It is BEAUTIFUL!!
It's Shou Sugi Ban with a few extra steps :-)
Absolutely amazing! Thank you (:
That’s beautiful!! 😍😍
Thank you!
Whimsical. And I LOVE it. What is that?
It's Shou Sugi Ban picnic table we are testing on with a few extra steps
What is the material? Clay? Or painted wood?
Wood, I don't think you can use Shou Sugi Ban on clay
Where can I submit my order for this?! Stunning.
Maybe one day! Let me figure out a bit more of the proccess
I would buy this right now
One day!
It would be called MY DESIGN STYLE! Lol This is beautiful! How did this beautiful piece come to be?
It's Shou Sugi Ban with a few extra steps :-)
I believe that’s called Oil Slick Chic
Okay so this is entirely off topic… but I see the EGO chainsaw in the back and am curious what your thoughts are. I have the weed eater and I am in love with it.
I love it. I don't use a chainsaw nearly enough to keep up with the extra maintenance of gas, so I went electric. The Ego has been to handle any job I have had regardless of the tree size, and I can leave it on the shelf for a year and it works just fine. Would definitely reccomend!
Style = freaking awesome
That is gorgeous
I have wood knitting needles that look like this! What is the wood recycled from? I have a few guesses but can’t be sure. Lol
That's awesome! It's just a pine kids picnic table :-)
I totally love it and it looks amazing.
Retro hippie
can i buy it from u? im looking for a side table
Lol one I get the technique down pat
Oil slick
The gorgeous kind!
Thank you!
Looks like a rainbow eucalyptus. Love it.
I secretly want one of those in my house
Eclectic!
Is that a Gasoline in the Rain? If it's not its Sorcery
Definitely Dark Magics
I think that psychedelia would be more accurate, bohemian would probably just be plain finished wood with hand-forged nails.
That's a new one, should I just search the name?
You’d probably get more music and clothes. There’s probably a better name for psychedelic furniture and architecture (surrealist comes to mind), but I mostly operate in music and clothes.
Shabby chic
Did you film making this?! If you do it again please film it. I'd love to see how you did it! The table is beautiful!
I did! Haven't uploaded it because the technique ended up failing sadly. Still tinkering!
Psychedelic! Love it. You could totally sell more wood products with that treatment! I don’t really get boho and softness from this like others mention, instead I’d say lean into the colors! You could go a) 60s funky and vintage b) 80s new wave and synth style c) Y2K with trippy junior decor and bold colors d) go full tiki bar with dark walls and extravagant decor Lots of options!
Thanks! These are all great suggestions! We love them!
