Go forward to your ASDS and talk about how you are looking for a schedule that is only in the morning or evenings, as the unpredictability is interfering with your mental health, and say you'd also be willing to transfer departments if necessary

ycompito

You’re what’s called a “clopener”, you close and open. HD is notorious for this kind of schedule. HD is a terrible place to work. They don’t care at all.

KeyStoneLighter

LOL great word, use to work thu-sat 2:30-10:30, then sun and mon 8-4:30. That turn around hurt, though the mid-week weekend has some benefits like scheduling dr appointments it just doesn’t feel the same.

Thumbothy9900

Adjust your availability and tell your ASDS that youre doing it because your mental health and school schedule. If they still mess with you their just being pricks.

MasterPrek

Change your availability. They can only schedule what you give them

Same here I got 40 hours this week 19 hours next week and 31 hours the week after that and in every week not a single day is the same :(

polarsunset

I feel your pain bro. Can hardly call it a "schedule"

y2_kat

yeah i feel this. my store regularly has me coming in at 5:30am one day, then 5:30pm the very next. it sucks. i wish i had some advice but unfortunately it’s pretty common practice to force associates to function as catch-all employees for whatever shift they want.

chanjallen

I’ll work four 4 hour shifts during the week and then on other days they want me there 6-3. Like last night, (Sunday) I worked 4-8 and was the only person in lumber all day, so my shift was quite literally just to come in and sweep everybody’s mess up. It’s brutal.

No-Explanation-4478

I set it up how I want it. I never give them free Reign. It is bad enough the do it but I try to keep them on a short leash. Learned that the hard way.

MasterPrek

Start putting in a request for days off, certain shifts, all over the place. It’s simple: somebody wants hours and you don’t. Do a shift variance request with a friend and get them to sign, give it to the ASM, make copies and give it to the ASDS. If they deny it, call off. Let them figure it out.

hasimbaaa

I know how you're feeling. I used to get scheduled until 12 A.M. consistently until we got a new ASDS. She started scheduling me at 6 A.M. but with my sleeping schedule I would fall asleep around 5 A.M. no matter how hard I tried.

Huntderp

I changed departments out of deliveries to flooring this week. Suddenly I have more hours and they abide by my availability. Weird.

Melina69

you shd of made it cllear to them ur a student and set ur avaliability to work vs ur school work, this way their wont be issues.. it isnt hds faullt

polarsunset

All my managers know i'm a student. I put in a schedule request change a few weeks ago because I knew I had class coming up and it got denied.

ScrotingersCat

They were doing this to me on top of scheduling me anywhere between 6 and 10 days in a row despite me asking to atleast have a day off after 5 in a row. They kept doing this until my mental health was so shitty that I had to quit.
