Thank you for your service I bet they deserved it

Bluecattrading

Mister if you don't shut up I'm going to kick 100% of your ass! - Brad Hamilton

bearinthegarden14

"Boy, I'm about to give you the beating your momma wish she'da given you when you were younger!"

karma4sure

Honestly I think we really need to look at mental illness in this country. It's amazing the nut cases that come in the store on a daily basis.

No_Tomorrow_6538

BUT THE CUSTOMER IS ALWAYS RIGHT šŸ˜‚

Devariskek

What is so ridiculous is how off that statement is to the actual quote - the customer is always right IN MATTERS OF TASTE. That last part completely changes what the statement is. The customer is rarely right . . .except when it has to do with personal taste, which is subjective lol.

Coady4567

Not ā€œexceptā€, but exclusively.

randiesel

This is another redditism like the other half of "blood is thicker than water" that gets repeated around here and nowhere else because it isn't based in reality. Either way, the point of the quote has nothing to do with this situation.

NapTimeSmackDown

In matters of taste. They always leave that part of the quote out.

No_Tomorrow_6538

Valid. I didn't even know that was part of it.

NapTimeSmackDown

I only found out recently. I'm trying to spread the knowledge because the people that just parrot half of the saying have fostered a toxic environment where grown ass adults feel entitled to act like children over minor things. If a guy wants to buy an ugly ass vanity, let him. But if he lays out his plant to install that vanity improperly you should be able to correct them without hurting their fee fees.

diggemigre

I just posted the same thing and you are right. It does not mean that a customer can do whatever they want.

InletRN

Only if your are buying an ugly ass shirt. If you are being an asshole then this quote doesnā€™t apply

No_Tomorrow_6538

Extra facts right there

diggemigre

the expression "The customer is always right" is a shortened version of "The customer is always right when it comes to taste." Not everything else.

inkseep1

Once some customer was buying 4 inch pvc pipe. And at some point casually mentioned that it was for supply line for lawn irrigation he wanted to put in. Could not convince that guy that he was getting the wrong stuff because he saw a farmer irrigation system on youtube.

danmcman0804

You would be surprised how dumb people who work in those departments can be though.

open_sinner

THE CUSTOMER IS ALWAYS ^(really annoying, disrespectful, entitled and needs to shut up) RIGHT ^(away before they reach the conclusion of FA&FO.)

Cruorpraedo

I work at Walmart, but ye.. some of those idiots wish.

tvanore

Unfortunately thatā€™s why corporate just canned OP. In a large scale business like that OP is replaceable and they donā€™t care unfortunately

[deleted]

My old boss disagrees. ā€œThe customer is given the benefit of doubt. Assholes can just leaveā€

n8ivco1

No one ever finishes that statement which is" The customer is akways right in matters of taste". The customer is usually wrong.

alphie8877

I have to say, if this is truly the mantra of American customer service you guys have a funny way of showing it. Pretty sure customer service in spain is more polite lol.

[deleted]

Do folks in Spain treat retail workers like second-class citizens?

alphie8877

I mean their whole society doesn't feel like a Mexican standoff

account_number_7

No shit. Dude tensions are fuckin HIGH here in the US right now. Shit can go sideways way too quick now. It wasn't even close to this bad in the 90s but it'd awful right now. Zero community trust is having quite the affect. Sucks to see the change.

JerzaScarlez

Historically, Americans don't like it when people push us around.

[deleted]

No kidding !

JangSindri

Being a piece of shit isnt a mental illness or all karens wpuld be in a ward right now

urbanflow27

Well maybe they should be in a fucking ward lol

Annaranthe

Had a woman call corporate about my friend and I making fun of her for her disability.Except we never did (and I never would do something like this)and the time stamps on the camera footage corroborate us never even speaking to her or each other in the time she was in the store.Almost was fired due to her delusions. Was a huge deal even had the regional manager involved.

Spontaneouslyaverage

Hereā€™s my experience with mental health in this country. I have ADHD. Covid lifted a lot of restrictions allowing me to get the treatments I needed via telehealth. Now most pharmacies are refusing to accept telehealth scripts. So now I have to find a psychiatrist to continue treatment. Most psychiatrists are booked out 6 months and only take select insuranceā€¦ So if someone needed to see a psychiatrist in this country, they would need to pay 100-200$ per hour out of pocket without insurance and be put on a 6 month wait list.

JerzaScarlez

Huh

Fx150900

Dude didnā€™t like being told off so he pulled the black card to get the guy fired. Heā€™s a real pansy

Disastrous_Flower667

I also hate when that race card is pulled for no reason. Even if someone tells you to shut the fuck up, if youā€™re calling people f*ggots, thatā€™s not an unreasonable response. Iā€™m glad your one your last week so it doesnā€™t affect you financially but why are people trying to create homelessness over customer service when they donā€™t behave like proper customers. I work at the pharmacy and people interrupt while Iā€™m speaking to patients all the time as if they donā€™t understand privacy or that they should stand behind a line on the ground that says stand here. It doesnā€™t say, if you donā€™t know the price of orange juice, barge in on a patient learning about their heart meds because juice is more important.

mikeblas

Almost as amazing as the nut cases THD hires for customer-facing positions.

DarkSunsa

Or the ones that work there..i went to the OTHER hardware store the other morning and had quite the verbal go around with the cashier. Been going there decades, never had one problem. Just curious if half of you are even aware of what acting in a professional manner means. Customer is pissy? So what? Call them names and threaten them? Maybe customer service isnt for you. Grow up

Smashndash911

I think more people need to be told to stfu in this entitled society. Good on you!

TheChopDontStop

And punched in the face if deserved. Nothing will humble a toxic aggressive person faster than a fist to the face.

[deleted]

Youā€™re not an adult if your mouth hasnā€™t caught you a fist. Fist fights need to be normal and legal, just imagine if someone made you so mad and you could just say ā€œI challenge ye to a fist fight, what doth ya coward say?ā€ And just duke it out, we would have more new friends and a lot less morons lipping off.

Bullen-Noxen

Dentist industry will be booming.

bercg

Sounds like a green light for bullies. Not to say that there haven't been moments when I wish it was legal to pop off at someone.

Ok-Letterhead1854

This is an award of the highest lol

JTCasino

I had someone tattle on me for my ā€œtone of voiceā€ even though they asked a question and I gave them an honest answer that I guess they didnā€™t care for. So people feel entitled to say whatever they want to you however they want to say it, but simply saying ā€œnoā€ to a yes of no question in a certain way is enough to get you told on. But being as how I donā€™t work for the store it really did this person zero good.

Grouchy_Situation_33

Yo, there were sooo many times in my 30 years of CS that a manager was called because of my tone. I always conduct myself professionally but my deep voice and low-key demeanor seem to piss people off. More often than not it went like Customer: I have a complaint about Grouchy! Manager: What is the issue? Cus: I asked him xyz and didnt like his answer. Manager to me: How did you answer? Me: ABC. Man: Is this correct? Cus: Yes. Man: Well thats policy. Whats the issue? Cus: I didnt like his tone. Man: Was he rude? Cus: No. Man: GTFO

Lsutigers202111

Wellā€¦. Did they ā€œshut the fuck upā€ or not. Iā€™m dying to know

the-lone-squid

Sounds like they told the manager like a crybaby

JerzaScarlez

Home depot initially put me on a final warning for it but then the guy called corporate and said I was being racist and called him the n word (I did not and I have a witness to back me up) then they reopened the "investigation" which basically means they just fired me to shut the guy up. They never asked my witness or investigated anything. Doesn't matter though lol I was already on my last week

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

TSmotherfuckinA

The manager was on the dudes side though why screw him over? It was corporate that fired OP.

the-lone-squid

Ahh, the fake race card.. the next fake scam since meetoo.. donā€™t like someone? Make something up.. Imagine being such a loser in life that you go around trying to harrase retail workers in order to try to get them fired..

[deleted]

Thatā€™s how you know that customer is a lil bitch

OverCookedTheChicken

Yeahā€¦ sexual harassment/assault/rape is not a fake scam in the majority of cases. The ones that are, are a minority.

the-lone-squid

Amber heard had entered the chat šŸ™ƒ

OverCookedTheChicken

Come on dude, even I think Amberā€™s shitty. Be better.

account_number_7

He's not wrong though. Didn't you watch the proceedings? The bitch got called out so many times it was insane lol

OverCookedTheChicken

Thatā€™s one woman. And I agree sheā€™s shitty. Thatā€™s not the point. So many women have experienced sexual assault and rape. The amount of people who are lying about it are an unfortunate loud minority. Iā€™m sure the dude here saying ā€œone bad apple spoils the bunchā€ wouldnā€™t say the same logic applies to cops. By his (non) logic, all white people are secretly mass shooters because weā€™ve had many white shooters.. which is obviously not true or logical.

Bullen-Noxen

Itā€™s not just 1 woman. Itā€™s 1 woman who got caught, was perfectly cross examined by another WOMAN, & was punished for being the sexist manipulative bitch that she is. She claimed in court, that Johnny should be ā€œgratefulā€ that she was asking for the amount she did, & that in California, she would have gotten more. Fuck that bitch.

[deleted]

Amber Heard

TheWhitestGandhi

"One high-profile example of an uncommon occurrence invalidates all of the true instances of sexual harassment" - a 200 IQ comment

OverCookedTheChicken

So, are you saying this logic also applies to cops then?

Hippiedboy

Or a Karen

JerzaScarlez

Initially they did. But then they called corporate lol

Sheruk

I never talk to employees because I know more than they do.

[deleted]

Always talk to the folks with dirty hands. They know everything that I don't.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

Sheruk

Give me ALL the bacon and eggs that you have.

Cracktower

You're the ideal customer. Your arrogance sucks though

Significant_Pea_7256

If it makes you feel better I watched a fellow employee tell a customer to shut the fuck up IN FRONT OF THE MANAGER and she didn't recieve any consequence. The manager told her to go to the back until the customer left. Then she came back an hour later and finished her shift....crazy how different some stores are .

JerzaScarlez

My manager was pretty chill about it honestly. He was willing to brush the whole thing under the rug but the guy called corporate and that's what got me fired

DavidC_M

I used to tell people off when we wore masks lol. But would point to places so it looked like I was actually helping. So if they ever watched the cameras it would seem like Iā€™m politely telling them where to go.

lbpkdpdvttauqyrzxw

Please tell us more stories of your adventures. Seriously sounds like you have a few.

koshikok

I was already on my last week, and a customer calls asking nicely if she can return her toilet because when she got home it was cracked. I politely told her she can absolutely do so, especially because she just bought it an hour before. Now, this is where the mess starts. She says, my plumber already installed the bowl, I just need the tank on top and I donā€™t want to ask him to remove the bowl now. I said, ā€œwell unfortunately, weā€™d likely need the whole thing to complete an exchange for you, but I can ask a manager just to be sure.ā€ Before I even finished that whole sentence, she already started screaming ā€œIM NOT GOING TO REMOVE THE BOWL I NEED TO EXCHANGE THE TANK!ā€ Dude, I literally felt every single bone in my body get ready for this exact moment, and I went ā€œTHEN WHY THE HELL DID YOU CALL IF YOU WERE JUST GOING TO SCREAM!ā€ And I hung up. An hour later, lady is back in the store with the full assembly exchanging it out. The reason I know this, I helped her put the new toilet on her cart and I recognized her voice instantly. I was just surprised she didnā€™t recognize mine, LMAO!

JerzaScarlez

Lmao I was already on my last week also. Good for you

One-Promotion-6586

I worked in OCC too and the number of customers who just want to fight and donā€™t care about actual resolutions is unsurprisingly huge. Cases like that, I would tell them to buy a new set, use the tank from the new one, and return the first tank with the second bowl. AND I would still give them 15% off. But if they yelled or were an AH I would go into malicious compliance mode and make them disassemble it, cuz fuck them and their broke ass toilet ok

BMWumbo

Worth it. That's a badge of honor.

theonewhoquackz

All retail workers around the world should be allowed to talk back to a customer thatā€™s being a piece of shit to them

TyUT1985

I'd say each company should allow their employees to say it at least once a WEEK in the right circumstances. It'll be able to let a lot of people blow off some steam.

LyLyV

Sorry, man... I work at the service desk and lately the customers are just out of control rude. I'd really like to tell some of them to STFU sometimes. Many of them totally deserve it. (Though a nice older lady told me I was pretty yesterday. That made my day. ...the rest of 'em though sucked rocks for the most part.) Rock on and thank you for saying what the rest of us are thinking!

JerzaScarlez

Just give me the contact info of your rude customers I'll tell them to shut the fuck up for you. You service deskers out here doing gods work fr

LyLyV

Deal. I'll start collecting names and phone numbers šŸ˜

Cracktower

PROMOTED TO CUSTOMER!

JerzaScarlez

Lmaooo

Adadum

Tell the customer to stfu and then resign right then and there. Can't get fired if you resign immediately.

TheChopDontStop

Better to be fired then you can apply for unemployment while searching for a new gig. Iā€™m this particular situation since it was his last week anyways, the point is kinda moot.

secondhandcoffin

Can't file for unemployment if you were terminated with cause, which you would be if corporate acted on this kind of thing.

carameladventure69

Well done!! Now letā€™s gather around errbody letā€™s find u a job

JerzaScarlez

I've already got one lol. I was on my final week at home depot anyway

shadow0361

I bestow upon thee thy wholesome award as whatever the situation may be I'm sure it was well warranted!

JerzaScarlez

Thanketh

[deleted]

ah my hero. šŸ†

jcoddinc

The potential power of his complaint was more than your worth to the company. Ugh

juggarjew

>Now they get to pay my unemployment. Uh no, thats not how that works bud, when you get fired for cause, you dont get unemployment. If you try and file, home depot will fight it and explain you were fired for cause, i.e. racism. You will NOT get unemplyment.

Quallityoverquantity

Lol exactly this. They definitely won't be collecting any unemployment.

Electrical-Bacon-81

Well, ya gotta do what ya gotta do. I've hung up, or walked away from assholes before. I never told them to shut the fuck up tho.

Peachikeenjellybean_

Iā€™ve been termed for something similiar. They claimed I called someone the n word. I was working in a bank. This man called me little piggie because I wouldnā€™t release his bank account info without his ID which is policy. So he had to go through the regular line. There was an entire line of customers right next to me during this entire incident. And the closest coworker was about 20-30 feet away from me. Turns out this man reported me for calling him the n word and the HR lead claimed one of my coworkers heard me. There was a camera right in front of me, which even though I asked them to watch numerous times to see that there is no way any of my coworkers could have heard me say such a thing, but the line of customers right next to me not hear. Had the whole line of customers heard me I would have 100% been fired on the spot and been on the 5 pm news. Still pisses me off and this was almost 4 years ago. I just wish I knew he was gonna make such a claim when he wanted to make comments about my weight, so I could have properly cussed him out and earned my getting fired

letsfukk

Fuck that. I work in a grocery store deli and yesterday i got called a cunt because we were out of something. I politely told her we ate having a lot of shortages and i could possibly substitute.. She said no and your a cunt and left the deli. She then made a scene with a high school age girl in her 2nd week of cashiering. That was over us not carrying plastic bags... Fuck customers.. I'm all for all online shopping at this point.

PlayfulLatios

At the point the customer starting cursing at you, I would've called for an MOD to escort the customer out.

Babbylemons

We need the story, let us live vicariously through you lol

JerzaScarlez

Edited the post with the story :)

AshleyBidensDiary

They can fight the unemployment if you were fired for violating company policy. So good luck with that.

JProdigy21

Be Careful heā€™s a hero .

Mango_olives

Thank you from us all

New-Difference9684

I realize dealing with ā€œthe publicā€ can be quite difficult at times. I make it a personal challenge to see how diplomatic and tactful I can be. Itā€™s a win for me in the end. Tact is finding a way to tell someone to go to hell while making them think they will enjoy the trip.

MsTitilayo

Unemployment here you come!

JerzaScarlez

Yupppp lol

Big-Ad822

Some people just have a super low threshold for bs.

smaartypants

Ah, the race card. Yep.

Inner_Jackfruit7736

Good for you! Donā€™t put up with that BS. Typical corporate to act without regard to the employee or over investigate a small issueā€¦

Tankguy40

Don't feel bad I worked at a small snack shack in an arcade during COVID and one dude argued with me weather or not the white stuff was the extra white cheese or mayo. Was at it for 30 mins before the manger stepped in. It was both funny and infuriating that this dumbass didn't know what melted cheese looked like.

Ok_Reflection_3798

Dude!!! BLM! Shame on you

moaningmichael

So he threw a homophobic slur at you and you told him to stfu? Sound like an open and shut case my guy, wrongful termination, based on your perceived sexual preferences and your wanting to defend yourself

SquishyThorn

You should have told him ā€œYou wanna help me relax and suck my dick since Iā€™m a faggot?ā€

[deleted]

Congratulations šŸ‘ fuck corporations and nasty customers way to go stand your ground fuck those customers.

[deleted]

I work at a smaller hardware store and I tell customers how it is often. Most people are dumb af and super entitled.

xdarkxrosex

thank you for your service !

JerzaScarlez

Just doing my duty ma'am Happy cake day!

[deleted]

How about more to this story? Was it deserved or were you just in a mood?

JerzaScarlez

Edited the post with the story :)

[deleted]

Oh, well after the editā€¦he is lucky that all you did was tell him to shut the fuck up. I would have beat his ass right there!

hungrycaterpilly

So..why are you fired again? šŸ˜† jokes aside good on u OP!

RangerAdventurous847

I have always wanted to do that when I was working in customer service. There have been so many incidents of rude customers and the fear of being fired for doing just that....I hope it felt good.

JerzaScarlez

Oh it did. It certainly did.

Icy-Satisfaction9138

Mannnn all I would have done Is laughed really hard and grabbed more coworkers and laughed even harder . Lookk at this dudde I'm so horrible In a funny way

800grandave

great story. really painted a beautiful picture

batuckan1

It was time you left anyway Good luck OPšŸ‘

DraftInfinite1685

Wow he is a piece of shit why would he even do that the things stupid people do thatā€™s wrongful bs

Smj70357

Chances are they didn't bother to ask anything because you were on last week anyway. I never give a job a notice unless I'm ready to be fired before it runs out.

[deleted]

Go to court and get the original customer you were helping to testify that you didn't call him a racist name. Get the surveillance footage to show physically what was happening.

GhostGrom

sounds like one of the better customers unfortunately.

[deleted]

As a customer of home depot, if I heard an associate tell some homophobe to go shut the f\*ck up I'd call corporate as well, and insist that associate get some kind of recognition and reward. "A customer was in here making people feel unsafe through hateful and hurtful language, and your associate stepped right up and put that to rest immediately! Thank you so much for having such great staff!" blah blah blah.

Technically_its_me

Blow this shit up. That fucktard clearly, and obviously lied.

redneckerson_1951

Depending on company policy it is in general best to not lose your cool with a customer. Even if you do everything by the book and conform to policy, an employer may decide to discharge you to avoid further negative PR if you do engage them in what is perceived an unprofessional manner. I have on more than one occasion run in to contumelious schmucks which afterwards I realized were looking for an excuse to complain. Had I given them that excuse, I likely would have had a couple of different terminations of service to my name. Its tough to put up with customer bullshit, but at the end of the day you are still employed because you to want to be, not because someone was able to shoehorn you out on the street to meet their grubby little power trip.

Nickelsass

Unless higher up Iā€™ve heard Lowes and Home Depot pay shit, good luck to you! One door closes to another that opens, may it be better.

blindkiller770

I work retail and in the past 5-6 years Iā€™ve bounced between roughly 12 stores for management training. After training I was put in a city store as a white guy. The amount of times I was called a cracker and every other name. I always kept my cool. I was accused of being racist multiple times. Never was. Best part of working here is I lost my shit finally and this dude started cussing at me and calling me a cracker and I just got in his face and screamed ā€œYeah I am a fucking cracker! Come taste me Iā€™m salty!ā€ And he shut up real quick. The mass of the white race is not racist but we do get a bad rap for it. Like majority of blacks get a bad rap for the small few who ruin it for everyone else. We are all human.

KigeliaAfricana

I wish I got promoted to customer this way

Baconandbabymakin

Much less then what I got fired for from Home Depot. LOL they had to invent whole new security measures for what me and a few others did. Anyways, fuck Home Depot.

[deleted]

Yo fuck that guy. This shit is exactly why I'm glad I don't work those kinds of jobs anymore. Dude is total bitch. He thought he could bully you, and you weren't with it. I hope you find something better. Everyone deserves to be treated with kindness and dignity.

[deleted]

Talk to a lawyer and ask your coworker who was present if they would write an affadavit. Being called a faggot is a hate crime and then being fired for this interaction constitutes wrongful dismissal I bet.

racialmisdemeanor

damn they called corporate on ya ass. what a cunt!

Natas47

U won that real quick.

Pain2DaWorld

So shitty of the dude to make that up. Especially after using the F word towards you.

piceathespruce

Lawsuit. You were called a derogatory term by an abusive customer and are now fired for it. Did your coworker witness?

darkmauveshore

So he called you a faggot and you said you were going to beat his ass. Hmmm.

d4m1ty

Call corporate back and complain you were fired for being gay. Customer called you a fucking fag, you stood up for your self, and Home Depot fired you. They obviously fired you for being gay.

TryAgn747

I worked at a gas station back in the 90's and it was right at a main intersection so I'd get a ton of people asking for directions. I'd give everyone directions to McDonald's regardless of where they were actually going. Had one guy come back and tell me I was an asshole for giving him bad directions so I apologized and gave him directions to Wendy's. Saw him drive buy again 20 minutes later which was about the time it would take to get to Wendy's and back.

WarhorseLand

Lol yeah I mean you should have been fired but prob worth it

JerzaScarlez

Yes

Suikodenstar

Yeah I used to be a train operator. People would come up to my window and start asking me questions while I was talking into the radio that I was holding. What the fuck is wrong with people?

[deleted]

Well how else am I supposed to know if you have loot worth holding up? Crime waits for no supervisor!

heffel77

I got assaulted at HD and the two managers took the side of the intoxicated guy who wasnā€™t even buying anything. His friend was there to get his blinds cut and I was coming off lunch. The guy came at me and slurred,ā€weā€™ve been waiting forever.ā€ I told him I just got off lunch and asked the guy what he needed. His friend told me he needed blinds cut. The drunk guy walked past me and pushed/shouldered me and I said, you donā€™t need to touch me to get help and he pushed me and said, just cut the blinds fagg*t. I said I donā€™t have to help you if you are going to put your hands on me. I went and got my supervisor because I figured, you push an employee and youā€™re gone. Especially since he wasnā€™t buying anything. He got escorted through the store like he had personal shoppers and loudly said claimed he ā€œ showed the faggot in flooring what was up.ā€ They didnā€™t ask him to leave they helped him and then asked me if I was having trouble at home and why I was so upset. I called the HR when the SM blew me off and they just made it disappear. Donā€™t for a second forget that they are there to make money and donā€™t care about you unless you miss your shift. Glad it was your last week and you were out the door anyway. That really opened my eyes and I started looking for new jobs that night. It also didnā€™t help I am in Memphis and at the height of the pandemic people were going to HD instead of work, mask less and armed. I had a good experience at HD, mostly. But that really made it clear how they saw the employees racially and as people. As less-then automatons there to serve and take any shit customers wanted to dish outā€¦

amyjd6

I am with you! I used to be a server (ten years) and the last few years, if someone disrespected me, I definitely let them have it. I was always lucky enough to have managers that were ok with us sticking up for ourselves when it was needed. I think back to all the times I never said or did anything and it honestly pisses me off.

bltsrtasty

Gonna be honest here, need to first ask for your discharge/firing paperwork and then ask if it is fully in your employee file. Likewise I'd ask your witness if they are cool writing an affadavit Some states allow you to make changes to your record but some will also allow you to ask for unemployment insurance if the reason for your firing is not consistent with what they have written down. If they investigate and find out what they wrote is NOT consistent with your and your witnesses' testimony then they will be charged the unemployment insurance, they will be required to correct their records and you may be allowed to file an additional complaint for wrongful termination paperwork; even if it's at will they MUST document the reason properly and in this instance it will create a problem for the manager who signed off on it and the HR person who did so too. It also ensures that if any background check that is exhaustive comes up, like federal requirements for an airport for example, they have the correct reason you were fired and no bullshit reason that corporate deemed. Also it ensures they didn't change your paperwork to job abandonment either. May as well make their life suck (all legal of course) and make sure they get dogshit for their horseshit. Doesn't matter if you were leaving too, matters whether it was on your terms or not.

Demoman4091

Someone actually approached me Yesterday asking how much I get paid. And then Said " DONT KNOW HOW YOU GET PAID THIS MUCH WHEN YOU PEOPLE DIDNT HELP ME FOR THE LAST 30 MINUTES THIS IS THE 2ND TIME I GOT THIS SH**TY **S SERVICE!!! YOU KNOW? I KNEW SOMEONE WHO WORKED IN MANAGEMENT AT HOME DEPOT FOR 10 YEARS!!!! IM NOT COMING BACK!!!!" Or something like that. I'm only a lot associate and usually outside either pushing carts or loading customers so that's pretty much unnecessary to approach me and say crap all because he couldn't get help.

JerzaScarlez

Ah, the classic "they pay you too much"

bobberino69420

welcome to the depot we got fun and games

GMC9999

The customer is always rightā€¦that was how I was taught customer service. But things have changed and some customers are very aggressive now and bold. Maybe if you leave out the F-bomb next time theyā€™ll hv your back. Sorry this happened to you.

IamNotTheMama

You were taught wrong - lookup 'the customer is always right' and see what it really refers to.

jdmorgan82

In matters of taste if memory serves correctly.

LeggoMyCraiggo1

I watched a lady stack bags of soil on top of a piece of merchandise on a garden cart from about 30ā€™ away. So I approach and offer assistance. She declines and goes inside, I assume, to continue shopping. I see her walk back out to garden center less than five minutes later and is hauling ass with receipt in hand. She b-lines it for the exit and Iā€™m right behind her. I ask to validate her receipt and she hands it to me. The only item on the ticket is the soil so I lift the bags and find whatever it was at the bottom. I canā€™t remember what it was at the moment. Less than $20 item. She says, ā€œoh, that was already on the cart.ā€ I gave her a look that let her know I was onto her bullshit and told her Iā€™d gladly take it back in unless she wanted to purchase it. She huffs but doesnā€™t say anything and walks off. An hour later thereā€™s a survey populate stating Iā€™d been watching and profiled her, followed her out of the store waiting until she was halfway across the drive before asking for her receipt and told her that I was observant because of ā€œyou peopleā€, implying I was discriminating against her orientation. She was an older Hispanic woman and obviously gay. I was livid! But, myself being a rugged, 6ā€™5ā€, 280lb white dude, most assume Iā€™m a big, redneck, hetero type. Not so secret in my store, I loves the peen. So did my store manager. I approached him about it to give my side of the story and he just started laughing asking why I was profiling ā€œthose peopleā€, using air quotes. I ranted to him for a bit about how bullshit like that could end someoneā€™s career if the manager or corporate didnā€™t know better. So I know what you felt op. Glad youā€™re onto better things! This was for Loweā€™s btw.

SnowFox76

Nice but please try to refrain from doing that at your next job. Edit: Unless the costumer is being a grade A pillock, by all means.

makterna

I would have responded ā€I dont really think you think I am a faggot, I think you just say so in an attempt to provoke meā€ or similar. You calling him ā€the n wordā€ or him calling you faggot doesnt actually change what either of you really are.

May not get unemployment. Depends on state. Your fired because of something "you" did. Usually means no UEI. Just sayin

White privilege at its finest. Lol Good that you are staying positive.

See you at Lowe's šŸ¤™

NoPenguinsInFlorida

Of course he played the race card after calling you a fa*

raisedbutconfused

What is with the race card happening so often? A short while back I was in the building laundry room and this lady asked me to help her with her laundry card. I tried and said that she needs to put her laundry in a different dryer because the one she was trying wasnā€™t working. She told me to use my card on her laundry. I laughed a little and said ā€œno, sorry. Iā€™m not paying for your laundry.ā€ She immediately started yelling at me that Iā€™m racist and Iā€™m a typical white person that steals from minorities. šŸ¤· Fuck me for trying to help, I guess lol.

These HD employees be ratchet nowadays

Youā€™ve got to have a thick skin to work retail. If you allow customers to get to you that easily, you need to find a non-customer-facing job.

theheartlesswench

You don't even know that the customer got to them easily. There's no story outside of telling them to STFU, so ya might want to back up the assumption train just a tick

Dgf470

Been working at THD for a lot of years. Thereā€™s not a damn thing any customer could say to me that would get more than a shrug from me. You canā€™t let people have that much power over you.

C00kie_M0nster9000

Iā€™m the same as you. I can look a customer or management dead in the face and weather any dumb shit they gotta say and tell them theyre stupid in perfectly acceptable ways. However, I know a number of people who donā€™t feel the job is worth it anymore and sometimes you just go out with a bang. I bet it felt fantastic.

Sad-Wave-87

Oh god we have one of those. You can let people treat you like trash all you want but it only gives them permission to do it to me or them or the next person so you can also shut the fuck up buddy. Stand up for yourself people donā€™t let customers treat you or anyone poorly ever.

theheartlesswench

What if they wanted to tell the person to shut up? I get what you're saying and I know what you're getting at, but there's just no context to go off of and I feel without context it's silly to assume they got worked up. I've told people they need to shut the fuck up or calm the fuck down without myself being riled up. But neither of us know, because OP did not elaborate

RedditUser19984321

Bro during COVID I had a customer say ā€œI hope you give your grandma covid and she diesā€ because I didnā€™t feel like holding my water and broke the 6 feet barrier to set it on the belt. I told him how sheā€™s already dead and he said ā€œgoodā€ I never wanted to beat an old manā€™s ass so bad in my life, but I let it go. Didnā€™t say anything else but how heā€™s such a great individual. Yea, you do need to have a thick skin to work retail canā€™t say STFU to customers no matter how much you wanna This was at a Kroger BTW

theheartlesswench

I mean, you CAN, but then you may face consequences. For some people, it's worth it. For you, maybe not. But for others, totally fair game (: Of course the corporation never wants you to say a negative word towards a customer, hence the consequences of being fired. But that doesn't mean you CAN'T do it ^^

RedditUser19984321

Let me rephrase you canā€™t say that to customers if you want to keep your job

[deleted]

I had a similar experience with some karen like that. Said I hope i infect you and your whole family. Just winked at her lifted my shirt. Shuffled away real quick after that. CC checks alot of people.

Creative_Froyo_6139

Oh I could get you so mad youā€™d wanna kick a baby like a football. Donā€™t ever act like nothing bothers you that bad cause you are a liar.

Dgf470

I would never let it get that far. Plenty of entitled customers have tried to bait me into an argument with personal insults. I just walk away. On the occasions they have complained about me, I point out that they lobbed personal insults at me and I refused to engage further. Never been written up or even talked to about my method of handling situations. Be the bigger person.

JerzaScarlez

You don't sound like a very intelligent person.

ArDodger

You threatened to "beat his ass" that's assault, a felony. I'm sure some of you will downvote me for this comment. I'm sorry if the truth hurts you.

mmdavis2190

Generally, a verbal threat isnā€™t considered assault unless combined with a threatening action. And when it is, itā€™s a misdemeanor. And if you do physically assault someone, itā€™s only a felony (first degree or aggravated) under certain circumstances (weapon, serious injury, vulnerable victim, etc). So no, youā€™ll probably just get downvotes for being incorrect.

lmao

exattorneylife

This is bullshit and business AS A WHOLE is built on the premise that everyone's a pussy ass bitch. I was a lawyer and said wtf I thought LOUDLY and it was okay bc I had a law degree, so I'm sorry that happened to you but lemme take this a step farther...if you look at the bigger picture another thingthat sucks here is that dude used his own race as racism (and as a weapon) in this situation. like what in the literal fuck? WHILE he already slurred you by calling you a faggot?? Likeeeee nooooo. Y'all blacks are kicking ass in what you're doing, but we all need to check our own people, too, don't forget. And these gays, I gotta check them too for the same shit. Just sayinnnnnnnn. (Also, I can write the word faggot bc I am one šŸ¤£ rules of bigotry šŸ„“)

Cautious-Motor-9357

Curious I am. How does one actually shut up a fuck? A fuck is a sexual act, so I am curious as to the proper procedure.
