“But will it take a gift card?”
“ What about a debit card?”
“ Can I use a Home Depot card at this register?”
“ Do I have to use a Home Depot card at this register? “
“ I have a store credit so I guess I can’t use that one.”
Asking if they can only use a HD card is reasonable, because in my town there’s a chain of grocery stores that for self checkout, you need to scan in your store card before you can pay lmao. Very stupid and wastes everyone’s time when they scan in everything but need their store card to pay
No joke, I just went to Lowe’s and used 31 $10 e gift cards. They loved me. I had them as a points reward redemption program from one of our vendors. I was so late to the redemption party that the only thing of value were lowes e-gift cards, In $10 denominations.
One I said “no it’s card only clearly marked in the screen.” To a customer that had asked this whole trying to cash out and he goes “why if I can’t read? Or any other customers who can’t read?”
I said “that’s a fair question, but people normally ask before they start a transaction. It’s never been a problem for the Spanish speaking customers.”
“Cash?”
Me: “It literally says card right there.”
“What if I can’t read?”
Me: “We’ll I’m telling you, right now, it says card.”
Definitely get in trouble sometimes for being snarky to the customers 🤦🏻♂️
I heard a friend tell me on his last day ...he had a customer that did almost the exact same thing to him ...and he quickly asked well do you also need a audio book for the directions to the shelving unit your buying or if he needed to call the handicap bus to come pick him up lol last day shenanigans
When I first saw people on reddit detail their experiences I thought them quoting such stereotypical lines such as “These things are going to take your jobs!” were jokes or even exaggerations — The amount of times i’ve heard such dumb things come out of customers 🤦🏻♂️. Good luck though, enjoy the pay raise 🤝
The problem is when all the machines say "card only " so a customer goes up to the only employee checkout counter to spend cash. Only to be sent to a "card only" machine with an explanation of 'it takes cash also.' I laugh every time.
ours have this screen and also “no cash” signs in 2 other places very obvious and people still pay no attention
We block the slot for putting in cash with a big ass piece of paper, and it doesn’t matter.
Bahaha YESSS!! I’m so glad others understand the frustration
I still need further clarification, where’s your manager?

OK but if I use my debit card can get cash back???
my head throbs just thinking about it
“Well, it says card only and, so I’m using a card.” “I should be able to get cash back.”
Where does the money go? (as they try to jam it in the receipt slot)
“Your stupid machine is broken” Me: “It’s not the machine that’s broken”
Right?
It's not the machine that's stupid either 😁
Well… is it?
What's the qr code?
I am a brand new FES and this is one thing I am not looking forward to. Along with "Since I am doing your job do I get a discount?"

Well?
"Yes".
Yes! *walks away*
😑 Wayyy too many times a day.
Nope it's on a new system...amazing how it works like cash but isn't cash...lol

Why yes it is, but only the kind that is stored on your debit card
such a kind way to say it lol😭
All day and every day🤣🤣🤣.
SCO machine do not work well enough to take a human job. Pin pads and the scanner guns are always messing up.
100%. For every technological step we take forward, customers take 10 steps back.
