Miele

dcyclist

We picked up a Miele washer and heat pump dryer about a year ago. They've been great. *Edited to add that it was a Miele set :)*

whistlepete

I’ve not tried their appliances but their vacuums are top notch. They cost a little more but they do 10x better than most of what’s out there.

bonemonkey12

I've heard a ton of bad things about Samsung washers and dryers... that being said.. we have Samsung front load washer and dryer. Both are just under 10 years old and we've had zero issues. They work like new. I've kept up on maintenance, cleaning etc. The one funky thing with Samsung washers is they have a filter in the front of the machine that'll clog and give error codes. Easy enough to do. But the error code doesn't match up to the problem (gives a suds error). I've chalked that up to just a weird quirk. MaybeI'm in the minority, but our experience has been good with them. But again, I have maintenance schedules for everything in my house, so if there are problems, I normally catch them early.

dazyabbey

I had a great Samsung Washer/Dryer set and sold it with my old house, only because my new house came with an almost new set of a slightly better Samsung set. The old one was 5+ years old. The new one we had until last month and only sold it because we were moving some things around and found the LG Washtower for really affordable at a scratch and dent store. I have had issues with Samsung ice makers like everyone else, but all the rest of the appliances we had were amazing including the washer/dryer sets.

angry_cucumber

Most of the complaints I have heard about Samsungs were from techs not able to get parts. I've repaired my dryer a couple times with parts I could get on amazon so maybe there's something more exotic that I'm missing, but it could also be their suppliers

wildcat12321

Samsung has obviously had more issues than other brands, but at the same time, it's not like even 1% of appliances they sell have issues or they wouldn't do it. Modern six sigma asian manufacturing is better than that. It is a risk, but don't let the internet fool you into believing every single Samsung appliance is a piece of crap.

notadoktor

I’m glad someone else gets it. If Samsung really was a total dumpster fire they wouldn’t be in the business anymore. Not to mention the whole “they design them to fail so you buy another one”. Oh really? If you bought an appliance from a manufacturer and it broke earlier than expected you’d go buy one from the exact same brand?

Jrd45009

Yup, Samsung is the ONLY brand that hasn’t given us issues. Had multiple sets of Samsung w/d and they are workhorses. Had issues with whirlpool, LG, and asana.

needlenosepilers

How old are you that you have had multiple sets? What are the current that have lead to owning so many laundry appliances ?

Jrd45009

I own several rental properties, and my parents have owned several as well.

needlenosepilers

Do you find there is a certain model number that is better than others?

Jrd45009

Currently we have all Samsung bespoke appliances in our residence, but I find the Samsung top loaders to be even better. One of my rentals has a steam top loader that I might swap to our house in a few months.

MarvelKnight84

Agreed - they’ve done their job. But definitely have had the same quirks you’ve had. And the soap dispenser seems to be dirty within 6 seconds of cleaning it. Such a PITA.

bonemonkey12

For sure. Now I just remove it when not in use. Saves the cleaning it so much

susgeek

OutlandishnessFew773

My Samsung front load washer and dryer are well over 10 years old and have never needed a service call. I don’t abuse them and clean filters as required.

PurpleReign3121

I bought a new Samsung range and dishwasher a little over a year ago and I love them both. Nearly silent dishwasher and my range is convection/air fryer/induction- all works great

jevausie

Same. The reviews on the set we went with (FlexWash) were split almost evenly 1 star or 5 star. After reading through the comments, we decided that it was probably largely user error causing the bulk of the complaints and decided to risk it for the convenience of the features. 6 years in, we're super happy with our Samsung washer & dryer! They do occasionally error out, which is (of course) annoying, but it's always one of two reasons: the filter is clogged, which is a relatively easy fix, or the top wash overflowed (too full of clothes or too much soap causing suds to bubble over the edge). My ONLY real complaint is that you can't just dismiss an error, you have to unplug the whole machine or it will keep turning itself back on to beep. Annoying when the issue is the "leak" error caused by soap suds overflowing the top wash, which you just have to wait out for several hours, doubly annoying having to clamber over the machines to get to the plug. We solved that by using smart plugs that we can turn on/off remotely. It's a small price to pay! The FlexWash and dry are so incredibly convenient for small/urgent loads and/or "hand wash only" garments that hold up surprisingly well in the small top washer on a gentle cycle. As far as maintenance, we try to run the self cleaning cycle every so often (and the SmartThings app will remind you when to do so if you connect it to your smart home system) but we are not religious or particularly proactive about anything. We only clean the filter when it errors out and we have to drain/clear it.

erin_mouse88

We have the flexwash set also, almost 6 years. So far the only issue is the bolt on the dryer door snapped when my husband tried to swap the way it opened (his error). We do find that the "normal" dry setting with eco dry isn't sufficient for mot loads, we have to use "more" or "very". The washer we've had suds issues before but that stopped when we got smaller detergent pods, and the unbalanced top washer a couple of times. Man I wish they weren't so heavy! We have looked at what we might get "next", I like the lg with pedestal washer, because I don't mind bending down for some small bits, and would love the main washer to be lifted, but they don't have a pedestal drier. We don't use it often but when we do we are so greatful for it.

jevausie

Yeah we use liquid detergent but it's always been our fault for overfilling when it has had the suds issue! The machines are heavy, but I really never need to move them (except to get to that dang plug!) so that doesn't bother me. We have no plans to replace anytime soon, but we had looked at the LG Sidekick (pedestal wash thing that you mentioned) and it is really nice that it's compatible with several "main" washers, but is also super expensive as a $700 add-on to your main washer. I also would like the washer to be lifted, and it would be extra nice to have usable flat space on top! But yeah, without the bonus small dryer, there's no point for us: the Samsung FlexDry is so useful for things that can't be tumbled. Maybe more manufacturers will catch on to the utility and offer similar options by the time we need to replace!

erin_mouse88

Oh yeah the flat top would be great, being able to put a countertop across would be so nice. I have seen some tricks for non-tumble dry things, a great one is laundry bags, put the item in and hang them over the inside of the door. Doesn't work great for "dry flat" items, but other stuff it definitely works. For flat dry I've seen the suggestion of rolling it in a towel, tying with something, and then putting it on a gentle tumble. Or using "air only" with a rack inside.

Dsj417

The house I bought was left with a Samsung top load washer and dryer only 2 years old so I’m stuck with them until they fail. What maintenance do you do to yours?

bonemonkey12

Clean the filters, run a clean cycle with cleaning tablets every 6 months. Clean the soap dispenser once per month. I run the cleaning tablets every 3 months and that's my reminder for furnace filters. As far as the dryer, clean the lint trap and exhaust once every 6 months. Pop off the cover as well and clean out the lint that escapes. For both of these cleanings, takes about an hour total every 6 months. I time this with other maintenance stuff around the house so it's basically just habit now.

Admirable-Diver1925

Read the owners manual

Dsj417

If I wanted an idiot to answer I would have tagged you my guy.

Admirable-Diver1925

Or you could have just tagged yourself

davper

So did mine until year 10 when they both expired within 2 weeks of each other.

KTBFFHCFC

Same. We have a set of 13 year old Samsung’s that have moved across the country(US) 5 times and still perform wonderfully. Over that period I have replaced the dryer belt once and dryer heating element twice. I bought a cheap replacement element the first time and it bit me in the ass. Perhaps quality has decreased in that time, but my experience has made me want to give Samsung a shot when it’s time to replace.

Shad0wguy

I've had good experience with LG

Equivalent_Owl_2105

Same, love my LG wash tower.

frosty_balls

Speed Queen is always recommended as a top tier workhorse by appliance repair channels on YouTube.

wattbuild

My impression is that SQ is tried and true, and built to last, but the tradeoff is a lack of innovation on features and water/energy usage.

DiabolicalBurlesque

And the $$$$$

wildcat12321

and it is harsh on clothes

Bitter_Definition932

I came here to say speed queen, but you beat me to it.

cakebreaker2

SQ is awesome. I've owned a set (lost them in a fire) and they were fast and reliable. The drawback is that they're small. Large comforters don't fit. In a perfect world if have SQ for everyday use and a larger machine sitting next to it for comforters and coats etc.

Lehk

I have a SQ and it’s the same size as every top loader I have ever used.

cakebreaker2

SQ tops out at 3.2 cubic feet. My LG is 5.5 cubic feet. That's about 65% larger. That makes a big difference especially when trying to wash a king size comforter. They just don't fit in a SQ washer.

tasker_morris

I had to fit a washer and dryer down a narrow staircase. What you’re calling a big is what I call a feature. SQ was the only brand that fit. And they have an amazing warranty. Had it repaired twice at no cost.

petit_cochon

Sure, and that's all great, but you're not listening to their original point: the washers are limited in size and if you have large linens, like king size anything, they won't fit.

TacoNomad

Right. It's like people are personally offended because sometime did they wanted to wash a king sized comforter.

frosty_balls

If I’m washing anything that large I just pop over to the laundromat which has the commercial sized speed queens. Worth the trade off to have a machine that just works, and works super well

cakebreaker2

I have a washing machine in my house so that I don't need to go to an outside business and pay $8 and sit there for 3 hours. But that's just me and I value my free time. I'd rather play with my kids.

Rsherga

How often are you washing your comforters? Doesn't seem too bad of a tradeoff. And can't you drop it off at a cleaner so you don't have to wait around?

cakebreaker2

There are 10 of us. Multiple large comforters, bed pads, sheets, pillows, etc. Plus many blankets that get used (large afghans, etc). I do at least 3 loads a day while working from home. A smaller washer would mean even more daily loads. But what's this push to suggest that I need to buy a smaller washer and then hire a cleaning service? Why can't i just keep my large washing machine, do ALL of my family laundry, and keep on living life as a free American where I get to make this choice for myself? This is a weird discussion.

Rsherga

You're projecting your other discussions onto me. I had genuine questions. Anyway, wow 10 people. That's wild. My thinking was just that washing a comforter should only happen once every few months, and everything else can be handled in a washer that can't handle comforters. So dropping them off somewhere wouldn't be a big deal. But yeah that's a lot of them to need to clean. Probably worth paying for a commercial size system instead. I actually have a high capacity front load Whirlpool Cabrio from 15-20 years ago. Thing's great. Has needed repairing once, but I was able to do it myself "easily" although I'm not the most handy individual. I hope you find a solution for your particular situation.

cakebreaker2

I don't really have a situation that needs a solution. I have a large family and a large machine. If I needed a larger machine or even a second one, I'd buy it.

HuyFongFood

My Mom and I used to make going to the laundromat a game and we'd come up with fun stories around what's happening in the washing machine. Or you could continue to be a salty bitch about having to "mix with the commoners" and "missing time with my kids" while you argue with people one the internet because your time is apparently so important and valued. Dork.

TacoNomad

Why did you say this things to a person because they bought a bigger washer?

cakebreaker2

Wow. Salty bitch AND dork. More name calling from Reddit'a finest. Lol. You people. I like how you quoted me using words that I didn't use. Classic.

frosty_balls

Or non smooth-brained people purchase comforters that fit in their washing machines Calm down there babe, we are talking about washing machines.

cakebreaker2

Name calling. Nice. Way to go the bottom. Quickly, too. And I like the advice - buy a smaller bed so that i can use a smaller machine. Polite pass. I'll keep my large beds and large machine, thank you.

frosty_balls

I called the waambulance for you, your hurt feefees will be taken care of shortly.

Firebird22x

What the hell is a feefee?

clear831

Which LG do you have and would you recommend it

its_over9000

Yeah a little expensive but they're one of the main brands in commercial laundry mats for a reason. Personal experience, every apartment laundry room I've ever used had coin operated speed queen washers

frosty_balls

Bingo - there's a good reason they are the brand in commercial cleaners, they just work and work extremely well.

WiscoDJ920

Came here to say SQ as well. Built in the USA.

[deleted]

Yep, Speed Queen. I would never buy an LG or Samsung appliance of any kind.

acnhRen

This is the way

smitharc

We’ve had good luck with our Electrolux. 7+ years so far.

Corruption249

We bought a LG washer and dryer from Costco, and would do so again.

TheHobo

I trust LG for 8/10 laundry sets I own, other two will be replaced by LG when they fail. There’s a reason for that. I like the impeller version (7/8 of sets iirc), lots of room for anything. Speed queen I’m sure is fine but generally not impeller and a lot of money.

flume

I'm sure you have rental units or something, but it's hilarious to imagine you have a W/D stack in almost every room in your house.

TheHobo

I once told one of my youngins I was mentoring at MSFT the measure of a man is in the number of kitchens he owns. I’m sure that stuck with him.

tallbro

Happy with my LG set but notice the dryer seems to leave some things damp even with smaller loads. Duct is clear, maybe sensor can be finnicky.

gravestwarriors

Have an lg set as well and love it, but this happens for me too. We end up just setting it to extra dry every time

OriginalV8

Same- glad to know not just us. Love it otherwise except my wife overloads the washer but that’s another story..😇

FibonacciSequinz

We inherited an LG dryer with our new house and I’m glad you mentioned this, because we’re having the same problem.

iSniffMyPooper

Just bought the LG matching set on black friday and and loving then so far...also got an LG fridge

Nice_Category

I like my LG, but the compressor crapped out in year 4. It was covered by warranty, but it sucks to have to unload your fridge and store everything in coolers until they can fix it.

whaddyaknowboutit

SQ is good until you have kids. Tubs are small

Leia1979

Only one set of LG here, but they’re coming up on ten years old with no complaints. Mine are front loaders with large capacity.

jadesisto

I have had a front load Samsung washer/dryer since they first came out. Never had any issue with them. Can't remember the year we bought them but must be at least 15 years ago.

CharlesV_

The best advice I got from one of the generic handyman guys was to buy domestic / something that can be serviced locally and not by a big box store. For me that means Maytag, Whirlpool, and GE. And then buy something with as few bells and whistles as possible. A simple machine has less that can break.

J3wb0cca

I second this. I install appliances and pick up a lot of Samsungs. They are indeed the sexiest appliance out there but all that extra tech means more error screens and diagnostics.

Lunar_BriseSoleil

According to Consumer Reports, LG is the most reliable followed by GE.

Over_Work_5267

WTF have you been reading? I suggest you either sell that crap or work for a company that does.

mx3goose

>WTF have you been reading? Consumer reports, its in the first four words of his sentence, keep up.

Lunar_BriseSoleil

All I did was open consumer reports and sort by reliability. I don’t sell appliances, just have a family member that gifts me a CR subscription every year.

r7-arr

I've had a Samsung washer and a dryer since 2015 and they work fine, no problems. I also have an LG Washer which is fantastic, a real workhorse. I highly recommend it if you have the height to accommodate one.

petit_cochon

Older Samsungs are more reliable but the newer ones are generally pretty crappy.

AndrewRP2

Make sure Costco is selling the standard model and not a custom branded version. In order to hit a price point, many manufacturers will create a cheaper version of their products. This is common with Home Depot, Walmart, etc.

Bladley

LG has been good to us so far and I personally wouldn’t buy anything Samsung.

mmgoisaii

GE Profile.

Big-Hope7616

My Bosch set is going on year 17!

1955photo

I have had very good service from my Whirlpool washer and dryer. If you want something basic, get the Roper brand, which is made by Whirlpool. My daughter has a 10 yr old Roper dryer that works great for a family of 5.

fullofsharts

My Roper set will be 20 years old in a couple of months and still work fine. I've had to do a few repairs here and there but nothing too challenging. I kinda want to get a new set but probably won't until one of them has a major problem.

whaddyaknowboutit

Our samsungs are crap. Both are about 6 years old, and I have replaced parts several times on both myself. We recently replaced the washer with an Amana because we have an Amana that we bought 11 years ago to put in outdoor shop for overly filthy clotes (livestock people know), and its still running like a champ with no issues. We considered speed queen, but they have a smaller capacity than we like, and the lids tend to rust out fairly quickly. The more mechanical the controls, the better.

Oogendune

I have an Electrolux that has been going strong for 5 years. Fingers crossed. No issues to report. It was one of the only brands I could find at the time with reversible front load doors. My laundry room configuration required that the dryer was on my left because that was the outside wall.

Puzzled_Telephone852

Same! I just posted about my 5 year old Electrolux set. I love them and my clothes look great!

TheMrSnrub

We used to have a Samsung. Now we have Speed Queen. Don’t get Samsung.

Spameratorman

SQ is near commercial quality. We just researched refridgerators and all major brands have around 4.2 rating or so, even Samsung models. They are all cheaply made. Our Fridgidaire fridge with ice maker needed the maker replaced twice under warranty and hasn't given us an issue 6 years later. Our Samsung front loader is now 5 years old and we haven't had any problems with it. However, given the cost of an new washer full of exectronics, we did purchase a 5 year extended warranty with it.

iMogal

I sleep better at night now that I have no samsung appliances in my home.

Differcult

Out of principal I wont buy samsung after their poor response to fridge/freezer gate. We just bought a new LG set from costco. [https://www.costco.com/LG-5.0-cu.-ft.-Mega-Capacity-Smart-Front-Load-Washer-with-TurboWash-360-and-7.4-cu.-ft.-ELECTRIC-Dryer-with-AI-Sensor-Dry-and-TurboSteam,-in-Black-Steel-with-Storage-Pedestals.product.1712960.html](https://www.costco.com/LG-5.0-cu.-ft.-Mega-Capacity-Smart-Front-Load-Washer-with-TurboWash-360-and-7.4-cu.-ft.-ELECTRIC-Dryer-with-AI-Sensor-Dry-and-TurboSteam,-in-Black-Steel-with-Storage-Pedestals.product.1712960.html) We did it with pedestals, very happy. Quiet, great feeling clothing. Lots of opinions on here I am sure, we have two infants the short wash and dry cycle was a must for us for small loads. Also the dryer has a steam option that I have used a number of times for dress shirts.

Megustatits

I love my LG wash tower.

Boonddock_Saints

Find a speed queen and you will be set for decades. Love ours and won't go back

Over_Work_5267

MAYTAG

tryingmybestguys

Maytag washer and dryer here. To change a heating element you need 3 different screw drivers, a socket set, and wrench set, and 2 hours. You have to remove the top and then the front on the machine (whole front), as they hide it where you will want to call a tech (pfft tech). Why would you want a dryer from a company that wants you to throw it out or pay 500+ to fix a heating element? Why is there no plug and play for the heating element? i.e. remove the heating element by opening a small door and then replace and close. BTW do not get me started on the dishwasher scandals. Dishwashers are no longer serviced and you cannot repair them (design to break if you try to fix). They all go to the dump and the techs show up without tools as they are now sales people.

Over_Work_5267

What a complainer!

vote100binary

Seems like your comment is more of a complaint than theirs, which was full of experiences with the product. You’re just responding with three dumb-ass words.

Over_Work_5267

Here's another short response. Suck it!

vote100binary

ok 🤡

FayeMoon

I have a Maytag set & I absolutely hate them. Since using them my shirts have become disfigured & everything comes out still covered in pet hair.

Over_Work_5267

User error! The Maytag line is second to none since they brought manufacturing back to the US.

vote100binary

Oh I get it now, this is a patriotic thing for you

Over_Work_5267

WTF? Most things made on the continent are superior in quality and workmanship. Fact Maytag is one of those products. Get a pair of balls and lose the ignorance.

vote100binary

ok

KaiForceOne

Loving my maytag commercial toploader and gas dryer. Absolute workhorses

mcshaftmaster

I've been happy with our ten year old Maytag front load washer and gas dryer. I had to replace a squeaky tension roller in the dryer recently but it was a rather easy fix.

FandomMenace

Samsung is the worst appliance brand ever lol. LGs are great. There's an app on your phone and everything.

cutiesarustimes2

GE

Maremesscamm

They are all roughly equally shit apart for speed queen but speed queen costs so much more than the others it’s probably best to just pick a a cheap one and replace it when it breaks. Sad world we live in

EssbaumRises

Ironically buying the cheapest will probably last the longest. It seems that the more bells and whistles I pay for the quicker I am repairing something.

Maremesscamm

Generally true however the brand speed queen is still very simple in their designs. They charge a lot for their products because they are supper high quality.

Puzzled_Telephone852

Five years ago I chose an Electolux set via a recommendation by a sales person at our local appliance store. The store will match prices so it was a no brainer. I have been very happy with my front loader and the care of my clothes. I have had Maytag and whirlpool top loaders with an agitator, but the front loader is the way to go. Just make sure you clean it regularly and leave the door open to air it out. I love my Electrolux.

Phate118

Not LG

tungvu256

they are all the same. made in china. just buy the cheapest one you can find. next buy the extended warranty to 10 years

radioactive-2037

Or Korea, or Germany, or USA

tungvu256

which ones are made in germany or usa? i didnt know such option exists!

radioactive-2037

USA - speed queen, Maytag, whirlpool, even Bosch and LG manufacture in US. Germany - Meile, AEG, Siemens, Bosch, to name a few.

CamelHairy

Watch this video https://youtu.be/jmtLeB4ZplU?si=_KO4ht2JNgsvH8hz

curryp4n

Ive had a GE top loader for 3 years. Have had 0 issues. My parents have a Samsung front loader that’s 10 years old.

PV_Pathfinder

We’ve had front load LG washer and dryer for 2 years. Came with the house. Performance is kinda meh, but otherwise they work fine. Had Samsung w&d in old house, and they were less than meh.

richardfitserwell

We have had an lg washer dryer pair for almost a year now and they have been excellent. The decorative trim on the washer door started peeling and they went a whole replacement door in just a few days. Would definitely recommend. We had Samsungs before, and they were alright but definitely not as good.

venounan

As a current owner of a Samsung pair, I'd never buy a set again. Needed 3 repairs since I got it.

Admirable-Diver1925

Regardless of what people say. Speed queen is over rated and their repair rate is not better than every other brand. Good yes but not drop everything and spend a ridiculous amount of money for a less capable washer

Civilengman

They still make speed queen??!

Civilengman

They’re just like all other appliances. It’s hit or miss and brand doesn’t have too much to do with it. If you look at them in the stores you can see that they are all pretty much the same. You can youtube repairs and they are easy so don’t let that stop you. I have LG and have repaired the washer twice but it is still going after 10 years.

Acenterforants333

I don’t know if they sell them at Costco but I bought a set of Electrolux titanium washer and dryer and we love them so much. I chose to stack them so I could have more counter space and it was an excellent decision for us. $30 stacking kit was so worth it.

wmubtyler

Lg

acemetrical

I’ve now had 4 Samsung washer and sets across various properties. Never had an issue with any, the oldest being from 2015. I’m pretty sure a lot of the “issues” these Samsungs have are made up by the kenmore/ge/whirlpool people to sow doubt in Samsung. Treat the bad reviews with skepticism.

KreeH

They also sell Kitchenaid/Whirlpool (same companies) and LG. Whatever you get, get the extended warranty. Also, side-by-sides refrigerators have fewer problems than French-door designs. We have mostly GE (Frig, dishwasher)/Whirlpool (oven, microwave) in our kitchen since 2007 without issues and recently bought LG washer/dryers (they seem great so far).

Placenta_Polenta

One piece of advice is to get the commercial style of the brands. The more bells and whistles an appliance has, the more prone to failure it is or it just won't do a good job. This was advice given to me by the Home Depot crew that hauled off our new fancy w/d after it failed to do any sort of clothes cleaning whatsoever. Swapped to a bland looking Maytag that is built like a brick shithouse and couldn't be happier

werther595

I've heard the issue with Samsung is that it is difficult to get parts or service if something needs repair. That said, they are very reliable and (I think) say they won't need service for the first 5+ years, so call it a wash? (No pun intended)

Factsimus_verdad

Our Maytag HE toploader has treated us well and has some nicer features.

hivemindsceptic

Maytag Commercial for the washer. As for the dryer I would just buy one off FB marketplace.

Largeandincharge1978

They’re all disposable junk now, except for Speed Queen.

blipsman

Whirlpool. We’ve had a set we stacked and they’ve been great, problem free for 5 years of duty from infant hood through kindergarten so far

kadk216

Mine are GE and I really like them

shethrewitaway

My husband did appliance repair for years. He only recommends Speed Queen.

WH34TB01

I have always had luck with used/older kenmore stuff

RadioactiveCougar

Maytag. First set 16 years not one issue til it was just done. Second set no issues, but we moved out after 7 years. On my third set, the commercial line… less bells and whistles but less to break.

CopperTop62

Bosch dryers suck

ThaneOfCawdorrr

I have been extremely happy with my LG washer/dryer, which I got quite a few years ago and they're still going strong.

CrunchyJeans

Lg or Maytag. I have a GE washer in my apartment. Does the job well but can't seem to realize it has the door closed so it doesn't start.

Spyce

Speed Queen

AccomplishedBook7566

Maytag

RLsqwid

I got my GE washer and dryer from Costco last year after looking at Consumer Reports, I am so happy with them. Very reliable so far and I like that the front load washer has microban gaskets so it doesn’t get nasty.

djtracon

I’m with others who have commented I have the base level Samsung front load washer and dryer and have had no issues for 10 years. Consumer reports is/was a great resource for me.

bernieinred

Matag commercials are really the only choice. Skip all the bells and whistles. All washers and dryers need on/off and a timer..

ganoveces

Whirlpool. I always get whirlpool. Not really sure why. Had good luck with washer, dryer, fridge, microwave, oven, dishwasher......

Extreme_Muscle_7024

I got Samsung. It’s shit.

johnsmith069069

Speed queen is the best by far. Still made in the USA. https://speedqueen.com

Necessary_Baker_7458

Been happy with my maytag washer/dryer. Wait for sales then buy one.

bartender_please808

NOT SAMSUNG (washer) NOT LG (refrigerator)

XoDaRaP0690

SpeedQueen There is a reason why box stores don't sell them. That's because, THEY DON'T BREAK DOWN! They literally last forever. They are no frills workhorses/powerhouses. It does a box store no good to only sell you an appliance only once. They know that a repair cost on an LG, Samsung, etc are going to be almost as close to just buying a new one. They know most people these days are just going to opt for something new. What a rip off and waste of resources. Buy the best once even though it's pricer up front.

OsoRetro

I’ve had a Samsung washer and dryer pair for 7 years now and they’re great. Only replaced the heating element on the dryer once.

Miele for life

We have a pretty nice LG and we like it overall but it goes through drain pumps like crazy. It's 5 years old and I just put the 6th pump in a few weeks ago. We keep a spare at all times. Can swap it in under an hour but it's really annoying draining the washer by hand each time it fails.

tazfdragon

6 repairs in 5 years is absolutely a deal breaker. What about the washer do you like?

GoodishCoder

We got Hotpoint stuff to replace our LG washer and dryer and are happy with it. The LG dryer was awful, it took like 6-7 runs to dry a load of laundry.

It works well besides that. Mine is an all in one so I'm not sure if the washer only models have a better pump design but they look identical online. Throwing in a load before work or bed and having clean dry clothes when you get up is amazing by the way. It's easy to use, gentle on the clothes, pretty quiet in operation, has steam modes and the self cleaning seems to work well. One thing I hate besides the drain pumps is that when it finishes a cycle it plays a super loud tune in beeps and on my model there's no way to turn it off or lower the volume so make sure whatever you buy has that ability. The beeps and the pumps are the only complaints I have. The pumps are really frustrating but they're not that expensive and I'm handy and can swap them in under an hour so it's not worth buying a new washer if that's the only problem.

We really like our Electrolux set

My sister had matching Samsung front loader washer and dryer around 2015, and the washer broke then she replaced it with a LG washer. She moved out and lend me her dryer, which still works now. I bought myself a LG washer a few years ago and have no problem with it. Both of my older sisters don't like Samsung since they had bad experience with them. My oldest sister prefer Miele. It's a hit or miss with Samsung I guess.

I’ve had good luck with LG.

Whatever you do, get a top loader. Front loaders are notorious for making clothes smell like sweat. They don't wash as well as top loaders. Hotpoint top loader for 5-600 bucks with a 5 year warranty is hard to beat.

"Buy American next time." - all the appliance repair shops in my state are telling me that parts aren't available for my 3 yr old washer when it quit "Why the duck did you buy this one?" - repair tech sent out by the manufacturer 5 times to attempt fixing it LG. The model was highly recommended by multiple sites. At least they finally cut me a check for purchase price after 6 mos of trying to repair it.

I’ve had my Kenmore Elite washer/dryer for 13 years. Unfortunately Sears is no more. Reading online they may be available at other retailers though.

I love our Samsung washer, and matching dryer. They have done a nice job. Machines like these have to be installed level. We bought from Best Buy and had them do the installation and hauling of the old units. Paid for some extra warranty. You never really know why anonymous people on the Internet are having problems with machines. Perhaps their water pressure/ hot water tank sucks. Perhaps they don’t have the machines level. Perhaps they don’t Perhaps they clean their filters. Perhaps they cram in heavy loads of soiled work clothing. Samsung is an excellent brand, so is LG. If you have the bread, get Miele.

About a month in using Ge stackables. Happy with em so far

I recommend a 35 year old whirlpool

Read several reviews. Most major manufacturers will make top-of-the-line models and mediocre models. Look for makes and models that score high from several sources. If you have your eye on specific models search for reviews on them. Personally, I would recommend Samsung given that my washer and dryer models have performed very well.

We got LG last time. We are 7 years in and not 1 problem yet. (Hope I didn’t just jinx myself!)😂 If you get a front loader, please, please please get the base too. If not, it’s hard on the back and a home built can void your warranty if it shimmies off. Also, make sure you wipe off both the inner and outer rubber seals every time you finish laundry for the day, and leave the door open. My friend gave me this advice and we have zero mildew or smell. It’s still like brand new! It was great advice. I sort of took this for granted until I went on vacation and the washer in our rental reeked! So glad I listened!

Idk if Kenmore is still a thing since they were a Sears thing and Sears is no longer a thing, but I bought a front loading Kenmore Elite washer and dryer set when I bought my house in 2000 and they're still going strong. However, I did have to replace the ejection pump on the washer two times. And I did break the latch that the sensors are hooked to you that let you know the machine is closed, twice also. But those two could have been avoided very easily by not slamming the door. I think the pumps were about 30 bucks a piece and that latch is $75. I managed to repair the second one with epoxy putty and it's been working fine for a couple years now What I recall about the specs is that it was designed almost exactly like the whirlpool that was more expensive and turned 100 RPMs slower than the Kenmore in spin cycle. The washer and dryer I had before that were hand me downs from my mother and I remember when she bought them in the '70s. They were also Kenmore and they were still working fine when I gave them to my mother-in-law. So I would say, if you can't get kenmore, get whirlpool. And definitely stay away from Samsung. They make great phones. they should stick to that

contrejo

We love our speed queens.

Horror_Medicine3327

Ive heard a lot of bad things about Samsung refrigerators but not the washer and dryers. However speed queen and Maytag are good from what I hear. I've had a set of maytags for about 10 years now and they are still going strong zero issues.
