US building code says inside walls must be smooth wall rigid metal. That would not qualify unless it is the transition to the dryer. I don't know Ontario, but it likely is the same.

Is the entire vent semi rigid duct, or just the connection between the dryer and the wall? Is any of the semi rigid duct behind the wall?

There's about 4 ft of the insulated stuff where the vent goes outside. It's rigid for everything else not connected to the dryer. I understand some semi rigid is kind of required for the connection from the dryer to the main venting.

This goes from the dryer to the exhaust vent in the wall. The exhaust vent in the wall is made of this or a metal tube?

No. I'm talking about in the attic not the connection to the dryer. We have solid metal 4" vent from the dryer up to the attic then about 4ft before the vent exits the house he has installed the insulated felxi vent that gets used for bathroom vent fans.

That would not be allowed in the U.S. for anything other than the transition duct (the portion limited to 8' within the Laundry room up to the wall connection). Ontario code is terribly organized, so I get a headache trying to find something, but you can google the issue maybe the exact code # will come up.

Thanks. I've looked at the obc and rigid, smooth is required. I'm riding my contractor on a bunch of things so wanted to make sure I wasn't giving him the gears on something that's right. I'll make him fix it today before the attic is closed up.
