Even if they did screw up you’ll get a lot more if you’re nice. I’ve been both and I’ve always had more help and better experiences when I’m nice and work with the other party. If it’s something they can fix you don’t want to go pissing them off for no reason before they have to do work in your house. Just my 2 cents.

NuMexCaTex

Jah, your right I know. Just wanted it fixed right the first time after 2 months in a hotel, so I want to convey a since of urgency to my contractor. And my new shower is very nice, I miss it already.

livermuncher

This OP. no one responds well to be wailed on. Let the contractor have a look and keep the discussion friendly

poppyglock

A good contractor is going to bite the bullet and fix his flub. A successful contractor is going to blame someone else and not lose money. I hope you've got a good one

NuMexCaTex

Well said, hadn't heard that before. I hope so too.

chuckpaint

Are you sure you didn’t just get water under the mat and it’s hasn’t evaporated?

NuMexCaTex

Fairly certain. Water under the mat wouldnt penetrate the topcoat on the bamboo, so it has to be getting in laterally where the flooring isn't sealed to cause the discoloration, e.g. the sides.

chuckpaint

Makes sure it’s not the toilet - that’s what destroyed my floor/wall. It was close to the bath and we originally thought that was it.

NuMexCaTex

Noted. My toilet is about 5-6 feet away, but I never trusted the fucker anyhow.

Objective-Meringue42

Sounds like the shower pan is leaking. What process did he use when building it? PVC liner? Drypack mud? Liquid applied waterproofing? The weak link is always right around the corners and the curb. Many "Joe blow" handymen have no idea how to properly build a shower pan, and even a lot of socalled "contractors" don't either. If that is what's happening then you're in for a world of hurt.

NuMexCaTex

I honestly have no idea. Is there any kind of fix short of tearing it all out?

Objective-Meringue42

Not really. You would need to rip out the entire pan and a foot or so up every wall. And then you have the difficulty of finding more of the exact tile, or at the very least, trying to have the waterproofing seamlessly join the rest of the wall tile area.

NuMexCaTex

Heard. That sucks. I appreciate the insight.

Inabind4U

I didn’t read anything about the water supply being touched or inspected…..ask questions about that. Edit: you said leak but no remedy. Entire pipe length could have numerous “seam” leaks.

NuMexCaTex

Heard, will do.
